On the first day of the week, makers dropped the thrilling trailer of the upcoming psychological thriller starring Sunny Deol, and Dulquer Salmaan in pivotal roles.
R Balki has always tried to give a hard-hitting message through his light-hearted films, whether it was 'Paa', 'Pad Man' or 'Cheeni Kum'. But, this time, the acclaimed director has tried to venture into a new genre with his forthcoming movie 'Chup' and looks like Balki has done a fair job. On the first day of the week, makers dropped the thrilling trailer of the upcoming psychological thriller starring Sunny Deol, and Dulquer Salmaan in pivotal roles. The crime thriller set in Mumbai revolves around Sunny Deol, who is investigating a series of murders taking place in the city against the film critics. The one-minute trailer also shows the gripping chemistry of Salmaan's character with Shreya Dhanwanthary. They both look like struggling actors and seems like there is something mysterious hidden. Teacher's Day Special: Bollywood films that celebrate the spirit of learning

Movie theaters and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad end-of-summer continues at the box office.

Without any major releases on the calendar, Sony’s 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' — yes, a movie that debuted in December of 2021 — managed to return to the No. 1 spot in North America over Labor Day weekend.

Sony re-released the film with 11 minutes of extra footage that proved to be tantalizing to some comic book fans, bringing in $6 million from 3,935 theaters over the weekend. “No Way Home” is expected to finish the extended holiday weekend on Monday with $7.6 million.

Star-studded Malibu Chili Cook-Off interrupted by stampede as child yells he 'has a gun'

Another holdover, Paramount’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” is trailing ever-so-slightly with $5.5 million between Friday and Sunday and an estimated $7 million through Monday. Since ticket sales are close, the final order could change on Monday. In any case, the triumph of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Top Gun: Maverick” highlights the bleak landscape at the box office, considering both of those films are widely available on home entertainment.

Even in second place, it’s a heroic weekend for “Top Gun: Maverick,” which is playing in 3,113 venues in its 15th weekend of release. The blockbuster sequel has generated $700.33 million to date, making it one of six films to ever cross that threshold domestically. It also puts Tom Cruise’s latest tentpole mere pennies away from dethroning “Black Panther” and its $700.42 million total as the fifth-highest grossing release in domestic box office history.

From 'Spider-Man' to 'Avengers: Endgame': Check out top 10 highest-grossing superhero films of all time

With the re-release, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” has now grossed $812.3 million in North America, strengthening its standing as the third-highest-grossing movie in domestic box office history. Props to Sony for smartly taking advantage of the desolate moviegoing landscape. But it also could have helped for any studio too, you know, actually release a movie over the holiday weekend.

In fairness, Focus Features opened a new film nationwide, but it debuted day-and-date on streaming so hardly anyone showed up in theatres. “Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul.,” a mega-church satire starring Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown, crash-landed in 14th place with $1.44 million from 1,882 theatres.

NBCUniversal, the studio’s parent company, didn’t reveal streaming metrics. By Monday, it’s expected to reach $1.75 million. Lucky for Focus Features, which bought the well-reviewed movie at the Sundance Film Festival for $8.5 million, its hybrid release on Peacock will help mitigate the film’s dismal theatrical run.

“Reviews are very good, but the film is not connecting theatrically,” says David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research. “During the last two years, movies released simultaneously in theaters and on streaming have under-performed at the box office. That’s part of what’s happening.”

Oddly enough, given the top two films in the country were months old, this Saturday ranked as the highest-attended day of the year according to the National Association of Theater Owners. That’s because Sept. 3 was National Cinema Day, which brought out an estimated 8.1 million people as more than 3,000 theatres across the country slashed the price of admission. Participants, including major chains like AMC and Regal, charged just $3 for any movie in any format — far less expensive than the country’s average ticket price.

The heavily discounted prices may have increased attendance (and popcorn sales), but it didn’t do much to boost overall revenues over the traditionally slow Labor Day weekend. In 2021, Disney’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” set a Labor Day weekend record with $94 million. This year, the collective box office tally for every film in theatres is closer to $50 million. Of course, it’s tougher than usual to compare because of Saturday’s markdown.

“With National Cinema Day, we wanted to do something to celebrate moviegoing,” said Cinema Foundation president Jackie Brenneman. “This event outstripped our biggest expectations. The idea of the day was to thank moviegoers for an amazing summer, and now we have to thank them for this amazing day.”

Given the domestic box office wasteland, holdovers “Bullet Train,” “DC League of Super-Pets” and “The Invitation” rounded out the top five on box office charts.

Sony’s “Bullet Train” is aiming for third place with $5.4 million from 3,117 locations, dropping only 10% from last weekend. For the four-day holiday weekend, it’s expected to bring in $6.8 million. After five weeks of release, the Brad Pitt-led “Bullet Train” has generated a solid $86.6 million to date.

There’s also a chance that Warner Bros. animated “DC League of Super-Pets” could take the No. 3 spot. Based on estimates, the family film added $5.4 million from 3,115 locations and looks to close the Labor Day holiday weekend with roughly $6 million. So far, “DC League of Super-Pets” has earned $80.9 million.

And finally, “The Invitation,” which topped the box office last weekend, tumbled to fifth place with $4.7 million from 3,114 cinemas. By Monday, it’s expected to earn $5.7 million, taking ticket sales to $14.7 million.

Comedian Chris Rock addressed the Will Smith Oscars slap during his latest comedy show with Dave Chappelle in England.

According to Fox News, At the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on Thursday, Rock and Chappelle kicked off their combined tour and talked about being attacked while onstage.

"Did that s--t hurt?" Rock told the audience, according to The Times. "Godd--n right... the motherf---er hit me over a bulls--t joke, the nicest joke I ever told."

After Rock joked about Jada Pinkett-Smith, Smith entered the stage and smacked him in the face. On March 27, Rock had been presenting the Academy Award for best documentary feature.

The comedian noted that he was back at work the very next day following the incident.

Following Rock`s skit, Chappelle addressed the slap and his own assault on stage at The Hollywood Bowl. On May 3, Chappelle was confronted by a spectator. The alleged attacker, Isaiah Lee was seen holding a fake gun that concealed a knife blade during the attack.

"That was some scary s--t," Chappelle told the audience before noting that the attack was upstaged by Rock making his way onstage and saying, "Was that Will Smith?" The stand-up comic went on to discuss the Oscars incident, observing that Smith`s choice to smack Rock was a "very strange choice".

"Will did an impression of a perfect man for 30 years," Chappelle said after asserting that Rock has always been himself. "I just hope he doesn`t put that mask back on," Chappelle added.

Smith in July shared a video on YouTube answering everyone's most asked questions, including why he did not apologize to Rock during his acceptance speech. "I was fogged out by that point," Smith admitted about the lack of an immediate apology. "It's all fuzzy."

The "Gemini Man" actor has contacted Rock to discuss the event, but the actor claimed that Rock is not yet ready to meet with him. He also apologised to Rock and others in the five-minute clip, including Rose Rock, Rock's mother.
Smith has mainly kept quiet about the confrontation aside from the YouTube footage. Several days after the Oscars ceremony, he posted an Instagram apology to the public

Controversial American actor Shia LaBeouf was recently seen in a reverential frame of mind during the first public screening of Abel Ferrara's 'Padre Pio' at the Venice Film Festival.

According to Variety, LaBeouf has been embroiled in controversy after being accused of abuse and sexual battery in a bombshell lawsuit filed by his former partner FKA Twigs.

During his rare public appearance at the Venice Film Festival, the actor obliged fans with selfies and participated in a Q&A after. 'Padre Pio' is a film about a monk in a Capuchin monastery in post-WWI Italy. "I feel super blessed to have worked on this movie; this movie kind of saved my life. But I didn't enter the process as a God guy, definitely not a Catholic. And this movie just found me at a time when I was very willing and open to the process," LaBeouf said during the Q&A, reported Variety.

The actor said that he studied mass, the central act of worship of the Roman Catholic Church, for the film and the more he sat in mass the less it felt like an actor's job and more like a gift. He also gave a shoutout to the robed members of the clergy who attended the premiere. "They're in the room now and they're in my pocket always and they carried me all the time," LaBeouf said, referring to the clergymen.

When a member of the audience asked what he was going to do next, LaBeouf interpreted the question literally and said that he would go back to his hotel, to his five-month-old daughter. "Next is probably go home and try to be a better husband, a better father and focus on my family," he said.
Earlier this week it was announced that LaBeouf is joining Francis Ford Coppola's 'Megalopolis', which also stars Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight and Laurence Fishburne, as per Variety.

Jennifer Lopez is still not out of her dreamy wedding that took place in Georgia. After their hush-hush wedding in Las Vegas, Ben and Jennifer again tied the knot in the fairytale wedding held in Ben's sprawling mansion. Now, weeks later, Lopez is giving a sneak peek from the dreamy wedding via her JLo newsletter. The 'Hustle' actor also dropped a bunch of photos showing some heartfelt moments from the wedding. "This is heaven. Right Here. We’re in it now," Lopez started the long letter by quoting her favourite line from Affleck's directorial, 'Live by Night'. In the letter further, Lopez wrote how she surprised her husband Ben with Marc Cohn singing '‘True Companion'. The same song Ben and Lopez discussed twenty years ago when they were dating and were to get married with the same song playing at the back. View this post on Instagram A post shared by holywoodbaz (@holywoodbaz) × “Ben and I talked about Marc Cohn’s ‘True Companion’ as the perfect wedding love song in this very house more than twenty years ago,” she wrote. “Though Ben didn’t know, I asked Marc to surprise him by singing it at our wedding and he was lovely and generous to come.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ilaria 🇮🇹💚 (@jennifermyobsession3) × After their breakup, both Ben and Lopez had moved on in their lives. The 'Batman' actor married Jennifer Garner and become the father of three beautiful children. Meanwhile, Lopez is also a proud mom of twins Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony. View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Wedding Insiders (@psbride) × Jennifer wore three white dresses by Ralph Lauren on her wedding day. The one she wore during the wedding was a plain white dress with ruffles at the bottom. She added a long veil with this one. The second dress was a little dramatic with a pearl covering. However, the third one was a backless with a deep plunging front with silver embellishment. “The twenty years between those dreams of youth and the adult world of love and family we embraced that day, brought more to this marriage than either of us ever could have imagined,” Lopez said talking about the emotional moment. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Follow @jlovision for more (@jlovision) × “We weren’t only marrying one another; we were marrying these children into a new family. They were the only people we asked to stand up for us in our wedding party. To our great honor and joy, each one did.” Looking at the photos, the wedding was indeed a magical day. The three-day wedding weekend on the picturesque site was made more pleasant with the eye-catching decoration. The wedding was a dreamy affair, the venue was decorated with white flowers, a piano, Mr and Mrs Affleck glow light love quotes written over the aisle, firecrackers, brunch on the riverfront and much more. The mother of Jane and John has also told Daily Beast that she and Tiffany met through comedy and developed a close bond instantly. In the lawsuit, she claimed that Haddish used to call them for ''every birthday and every Christmas.''

“We were both going through a divorce,” the mother told The Daily Beast.

“Messy, messy, messy, messy divorces… We just got really, really super, super close.”

However, in 2013, she offered Jane a role in her commercial. Detailing more, they revaled that during a camp, where she met Jane she told her that she'd “a perfect role for her.”

No further information about her role or shoot script was shared with the mother or the child. Haddish and Spears, who was also the producers of the commercial, were the only one who were having all the details.

During the shoot, Haddish and Spears asked Jane to make some inappropriate noises while watching a sandwich commercial, in which the characters began eating the sandwich and starts “moaning and making sexual noises as they both ate the sandwich in a manner that simulated the act of fellatio,” the lawsuit reads.

“Haddish verbally explained what was expected of Plaintiff Jane Doe and then showed Plaintiff Jane Doe how to give fellatio, including movements, noises, moaning, and groaning,” the lawsuit states.

The complaint claims that Spears told Jane “to mimic what she had seen on the screen, including the noises precisely like what she heard throughout the video.” She also told that she didn't tell anyone how awful it was.
Venice Film Festival opens with Netflix's Adam Driver flick 'White Noise'

The Venice Film Festival kicked off on Wednesday with a powerful message from Ukraine's president and a topical opening film starring Adam Driver about a deadly health crisis and misinformation.

President Volodymyr Zelensky sent a recorded message for the opening ceremony on the Lido island, telling the audience: "not to remain silent, not to be afraid... not to remain neutral to the war in Ukraine."

He described it as "a horror which is not 120 minutes but 189 days long", and followed his speech with a list of 358 names of children killed since the Russian invasion.

The world's longest-running film festival is marking 90 years since its first edition, and saw celebrities including US politician Hillary Clinton walking the red carpet.

Opening film "White Noise" is the first of four Netflix-produced films competing for the top prize Golden Lion as the streamer seeks to bolster its artistic credentials.

It stars Driver as a Hitler studies professor in a small college town, which experiences an "Airborne Toxic Event" that leaves the community desperate for reliable information -- while his wife (played by Greta Gerwig) has her own struggles with prescription meds.

A sharp and funny satire of US consumer culture and academic navel-gazing, it reunites Driver with director Noah Baumbach following their lauded "Marriage Story".

Though based on a famous Don DeLillo novel from 1985, Baumbach told reporters he "couldn't believe how relevant it felt" when he re-read it in 2020.

Driver joked that he got carried away fattening up to play a middle-aged dad: "I put on weight and we had a back-up stomach -- and then we didn't need the back-up stomach."

Not looking backwards -

"La Mostra", as the festival is known, takes place each year on the beach-lined Lido island and is well-timed to launch Academy Award campaigns.

Eight of the last 10 Best Director Oscars have gone to films that premiered at Venice, including the most recent winner Jane Campion for "Power of the Dog" -- another Netflix production.

Also gracing the Lido on Wednesday was French actress Catherine Deneuve, who wore a Ukrainian flag pinned to her jacket as she arrived to pick up a lifetime achievement award.

An icon in France since the 1960s, the notoriously frank Deneuve seemed non-plussed by the accolade.

"One doesn't look backwards," the 78-year-old told AFP. "It's not a refusal, it's just that one doesn't have time. I was filming in Paris a few weeks ago and starting a film in English in Belgium in less than a month."

- Cannibals and whales -

Hollywood and Western Europe dominate the selection of 23 films competing over the next 10 days for the hearts of a jury led by US actress Julianne Moore.

Fans of Timothee Chalamet are ravenous for his new road movie "Bones and All", premiering Friday, in which he plays a love-lorn cannibal -- reuniting him with "Call Me By Your Name" director Luca Guadagnino.

There is early buzz, too, for "The Whale" starring Brendan Fraser as a morbidly obese man trying to reconnect with his daughter, directed by Darren Aronofsky who won the Golden Lion in 2008 for "The Wrestler".

The Venice Film Festival kicked off on Wednesday with a powerful message from Ukraine's president and a topical opening film starring Adam Driver about a deadly health crisis and misinformation.

The Venice Film Festival kicked off on Wednesday with a powerful message from Ukraine's president and a topical opening film starring Adam Driver about a deadly health crisis and misinformation. President Volodymyr Zelensky sent a recorded message for the opening ceremony on the Lido island, telling the audience: "not to remain silent, not to be afraid... not to remain neutral to the war in Ukraine." He described it as "a horror which is not 120 minutes but 189 days long", and followed his speech with a list of 358 names of children killed since the Russian invasion. Driver joked that he got carried away fattening up to play a middle-aged dad: "I put on weight and we had a back-up stomach -- and then we didn't need the back-up stomach." Not looking backwards - "La Mostra", as the festival is known, takes place each year on the beach-lined Lido island and is well-timed to launch Academy Award campaigns. I was filming in Paris a few weeks ago and starting a film in English in Belgium in less than a month." - Cannibals and whales - Hollywood and Western Europe dominate the selection of 23 films competing over the next 10 days for the hearts of a jury led by US actress Julianne Moore. Still hunting its first Best Picture Oscar, Netflix has become a key backer of more intellectual directors as traditional Hollywood studios fixate on superhero and franchise blockbusters. Later in the festival, the streamer is premiering the highly anticipated "Blonde", a dark retelling of Marilyn Monroe's tragic life, with rising star Ana de Armas in the lead role.
BTS and their military service have been the most discussed question in the entire world right now and especially in the South Korean parliament. As the big question about the seven-boy band's future looms around, South Korean lawmakers have decided to take a public opinion on this matter.

As per the new reports, the lawmakers might conduct a survey to get to know what public thinks about BTS and whether they should be exempted from military service or not.

As per AP, Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup has told lawmakers that he has ordered officials to conduct a quick survey to gauge public opinion on this matter. Lee Jong has also reportedly told the lawmakers that he and his ministry will look into all the factors - such as BTS' impact on South Korea's economy, as we all are aware of the fact that how much the boys contribute to the country's growth and economy. They will also look into matters like the importance of military service in the national interest.

In the statement later, they spilt more details about the survey process, like which agency would carry out the survey and which age group and people would be surveyed.
