"We receive complaints related to drug activity and that's something we actively work to address with the community," he said.

The area was sealed for police investigation and it opened at 7 am.&nbsp;

McDonald, the prosecutor in Oakland County, Michigan, has said that the drawing featured images of a gun, a person who had been shot, a laughing emoji and the words, “Blood everywhere,” and, “The thoughts won’t stop. Help me.”

The teacher, Throne said, notified school counselors and the dean of students. Crumbley was immediately removed from the classroom and taken to the guidance counselor’s office, where he claimed the drawing was part of a video game he was designing, Throne said.

According to the letter, the school had difficulty reaching Crumbley’s parents, and he remained in the office for an hour and a half before they arrived. During that time, school officials observed Crumbley and spoke with him.

After his parents arrived, school officials asked “specific probing questions” regarding Crumbley’s potential to harm others or himself, Throne said. Crumbley’s answers, which were confirmed by his parents, led counselors to conclude that he did not intend to hurt anyone, the superintendent said.

“At no time did counselors believe the student might harm others based on his behavior, responses and demeanor, which appeared calm,” wrote Throne, referring to both meetings.

Counseling was recommended for Crumbley, and his parents were told they had 48 hours to seek counseling for their child or the school would contact Children’s Protective Services, Throne wrote.

“When the parents were asked to take their son home for the day,” he wrote, “they flatly refused and left without their son, apparently to return to work.”

Because their son had no previous disciplinary infractions, “the decision was made he would be returned to the classroom rather than sent home to an empty house.”

A: According to the letter, the decisions related to both meetings remained at the guidance counselor level and were never elevated to the principal’s or assistant principal’s offices. The counselors made judgments based on their training and clinical experience, Throne said, “and did not have all the facts we now know.”

A man was killed and a woman injured during a shooting incident in California`s Oakland city, local police said.

Police on Saturday responded to reports of a shooting found a man and a woman who had been shot in the city`s maxwell neighbourhood, reports xinhua news agency.

The man was treated on the scene but pronounced dead, while the woman was taken to the hospital.

Her condition was not disclosed, according to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle on Saturday.

The name, age and other identifying information of the deceased victim have not been released pending notification of relatives, police said.

Homicide investigators are looking into the shooting.

The deadly shooting brought the number of homicides investigated in Oakland to 105 this year, a 132 per cent increase compared with the same period last year and a 70 per cent increase compared with 2019.

So far this year, the areas with the most homicides are Area 3, the region encompassing Fruitvale and Central Oakland, and Area 5, Oakland`s easternmost section, the report said.

Oakland`s homicide record was 165 in 1992.

Since then, the homicides have mostly fallen with 70 in 2018, and 78 in 2019.
