<p>"For me, the Indian spinners and Muralitharan were certainly better than Warne. Because look at Warne's record against India. It was pretty ordinary against India," Gavaskar said.</p>

<p>"Because he didn't have much success against Indian players, who are very good players of spin bowling, I don't think I would call him the greatest. Muralitharan with the success that he had against India would rank over him in my book."</p>

<p>The timing of Gavaskar's comments upset some of Warne's legion of Indian fans, particularly his suggestion that the Australian`s lifestyle had contributed to his early death.</p>

Warne passed away on Friday (March 04) aged 52 after suffering a heart attack in Thailand. <p>Warne not only captured the imagination of the cricket world he became Australia's main strike bowler after Glen McGrath in the 1990s.</p>

<p>The feat was repeated again in other Tests but not with the same euphoria and passion as the first one at Old Trafford in Manchester.</p>

<p>This is how the legendry Richie Benaud who was in the commentary box described Warne's marvellous act: "First ball in Test cricket in England for Shane Warne, He has done it. He started off with the most beautiful delivery."</p>

<p>"Gatting has absolutely no idea what has happened to it and he still does not know, a raised eyebrow and a little nod that's all it needed," Benaud said as he himself seemed bamboozled just as much as Gatting. Warne finished with 34 wickets in the Ashes series as Australia reigned supreme.</p>

<p>1993 was also a magical year for the late bowling legend as he claimed 71 wickets which was a record for a spin bowler. Warne almost revived the art of leg-spin with that&nbsp;one delivery at Manchester.</p>

<p>Warne had played just 11 Tests until Manchester and was not regarded as a great or even close to it. His debut against India at Sydney in 1991 was a big flop as Ravi Shastri hit him all over the ground but he blew away Gatting and England at Manchester and picked up the eight wickets in the Test as Australia thrashed England by 179 runs. Warne naturally picked up the man of the match award.</p>

<p>Interestingly, captain Graham Gooch was declared out in the second innings for "handling" the ball after he scored 133. Clearly, it was a historic match. The "ball of the century" now lives on in memory and it still Trends nearly 30 years later.</p>

<p>The news of Australian cricket legend Shane Warne's sudden demise sent shockwaves across the cricketing world on Friday (March 04). Warne breathed his last after suffering a suspected heart attack in Thailand. The sudden passing away of one of the greatest cricketers of all time has left fans and players around the world mourning.</p>

<p>Besides being one of the best cricketers to have represented Australia, Warne was also the first captain to have won the Indian Premier League (IPL). Warne led Rajasthan Royals (RR) to their maiden IPL title in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2008. The Rajasthan Royals squad back then had a number of rising superstars including the likes of Indian all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Yusuf Pathan.</p>

<p>Warne was an admirer of both the Indian youngsters and had predicted that the duo will go on to become superstars of Indian cricket in the years to come. As it turned out, Warne's predictions did come true with both Pathan and Jadeja doing well in their respective international careers.</p>

<p>While Pathan was part of India's 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup-winning teams, Jadeja is one of the best all-rounders in the world at present. Remember the time in ’08 at the DY Patil Stadium….He called you over and said to me “This kid is a rockstar”. We chatted more than once about you and he was very fond of you and of Yusuf,”&nbsp;Bhogle wrote.</p>

<p>Jadeja, who is currently in action for India in their longing first Test against Sri Lanka at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, responded to Bhogle's comments and said he still remembered Warne's words and that the news of his tragic demise was really sad. “Yes harsha bhai, I still remember that chat. Really sad news,” Jadeja responded.</p>

<p>Australian cricket legend Shane Warne, died aged 52 on Friday (March 04). In a brief statement, Warne's management informed that the former Australian cricketer passed away due to a suspected heart attack in Thailand. Warne's shocking demise has left the entire cricketing fraternity mourning.</p>

<p>One of the best spinners of all time, Warne was known for his ability to trouble the best of batters with his spin wizardry. He produced numerous match-winning performances for Australia in an international career filled with several highs and lows.</p>

<p>Warne was the first to complete the milestone of 700 Test wickets and was the highest wicket-taker in Tests at a time before being surpassed by Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan, who finished his career with 800 wickets in the longest format. Warne also holds the record for most wickets in a calendar year in Test cricket with a staggering 96 scalps in 2005.</p>

<p>The cricket fraternity paid rich tributes after the news of Warne's shocking demise emerged on Friday. <p>Warne&nbsp;is regarded as one of the finest leg-spin bowlers of all time after a career in which he took 708 test wickets in a test career which span from 1992 to 2007.</p>

<p>He later played in the Indian Premier League and other Twenty20 competitions before retiring from all international cricket in 2013 but continued to be involved in the game as a broadcaster.</p>

We know he can do a terrific job in the Test area. Don’t like wicketkeeper as captain: Not Pant! Shane Warne suggests who should be India's next Test captain

<p>Indian Test captain Virat Kohli and a couple of other Indian players didn't shy away from expressing their frustration after a controversial DRS call went South Africa's way on Day 3 of the recently-concluded third Test between the two sides at the Newlands in Cape Town. South Africa captain Dean Elgar survived a close lbw call after opting for the DRS leaving Indian players miffed.</p>

<p>R Ashwin had trapped Elgar plumb in front of the wicket and the ball had hit the batter below the knee. He was adjudged out by the on-field umpire before reviewig the decision. The hawk-eye predicted the ball to be going over the stumps despite the replays suggesting that it had hit Elgar below the knee.</p>

<p>Indian players were left in shock after what they saw on the screen and went on to vent out their anger on the stump-mic. Indian skipper Kohli walked towards the stump mic and took a dig at the host broadcaster SuperSport alleging that they were controlling the hawk eye.</p>

<p>"Focus on your team as well when they shine the ball eh, not just the opposition. Trying to catch people all the time," Kohli was heard saying on the stump-mic. KL Rahul and R Ashwin also joined the chatter and took digs at SuperSport. "You should find better ways to win, SuperSport," Ashwin was heard saying while Rahul said - "It’s the whole country against 11 guys."</p>

<p>While Kohli and the other Indian players have been criticised a lot by several former cricketers and experts for their behaviour, former Australian cricketers Adam Gilchrist and Shane Warne also shared their views on the matter. Both Gilchrist and Warne observed that the frustration might have been brewing in the Indian camp as it looked like this was not the first instance when such a decision went against them.</p>

<p>"That accusation there I am interested in Warnie, this seems a bit premeditated, and this has been building or brewing…. and it has got to a breaking point. That accusation about filming teams shining the ball I am assuming it goes all the way back to that very ground when the Australians were caught out on camera," said Gilchrist while speaking on <em>Fox Cricket</em>.</p>

R Ashwin had trapped Elgar plumb in front of the wicket and the ball had hit the batter below the knee. He was adjudged out by the on-field umpire before reviewig the decision. The hawk-eye predicted the ball to be going over the stumps despite the replays suggesting that it had hit Elgar below the knee. Both Gilchrist and Warne observed that the frustration might have been brewing in the Indian camp as it looked like this was not the first instance when such a decision went against them. "That accusation there I am interested in Warnie, this seems a bit premeditated, and this has been building or brewing…. and it has got to a breaking point. That accusation about filming teams shining the ball I am assuming it goes all the way back to that very ground when the Australians were caught out on camera," said Gilchrist while speaking on Fox Cricket.
