Instalaza is the arms company which makes the grenade launchers that Spain donates to Ukraine.

Quoting a person familiar with the investigation, Reuters reported that the devices were sent to the heads of each institution in similar brown envelopes.&nbsp;The packages were detonated using controlled explosions.

Kyiv increased security at its embassies around the world after the letter bomb was opened by a security guard at the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid. The guard suffered minor hand injuries.

According to the source, Spain's Correos postal service has been requested to assist in the pre-screening of all such envelopes.

The letter bombs had loose gunpowder with an electrical ignition mechanism, which would cause the powder to burn instead of exploding.

Citing a judicial source Reuters further reports that Spain's High Court, which specialises in terrorism, has begun an investigation.

As per AFP, the Ukrainian ambassador to Spain, Serhii Pohoreltsev, indirectly blamed Russia for the bomb.

In an interview with Spanish national television late on Wednesday, he said, "We are well aware of the terrorist methods of the aggressor country."

"Russia's methods and attacks require us to be ready for any kind of incident, provocation or attack," he stressed.

She further alleged that based on phone conversations they've "managed to capture" they know that rapes and sexual assault are a reality that the Russian servicemen talk about openly while on a call with relatives.

Zelenska said that even the wives of these servicemen knew and in fact, they encourage their husbands to participate in the heinous acts.

"In fact, the wives of Russian servicemen encourage this, they say, 'Go on, rape those Ukrainian women, just don't share this with me, just don't tell me'.&nbsp;This is why there has to be a global response to this."

Allegations of sexual violence during this war started spilling over&nbsp;the past few months.&nbsp;

Last week, Wayne Jordash, an international criminal lawyer assisting Kyiv's war crimes investigations, stated there was proof Russian leadership was aware of sexual abuse committed by military forces in Ukraine, "and in some cases, (were) encouraging it or even ordering it."

According to an UN-supported report released in October, the victims of such abuse in Ukraine ranged in the age from four to over 80, and in some cases, family members were made to witness the crime.

World's toxic arms watchdog on Monday warned that the threat stemming from weapons of mass destruction, including chemical ammunition has increased, thanks to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Fernando Arias, chief of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said that his organisation has been closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine and that the ongoing conflict "exacerbated existing tensions" and that it has "increased the real threat posed by weapons of mass destruction, including chemical weapons".

While there has been no evidence to prove that biological or chemical weapons have been used Arias reminded Kyiv and Moscow that they were among 193 nations which have "solemnly and voluntarily committed never under any circumstances to... use chemical weapons".

Russia has previously faced allegations of the use of chemical weapons. In 2018 Moscow was accused of using its infamous Novichok nerve agent on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal in the English city of Salisbury and in 2020 it faced allegations of the use of the same agent on Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny.

Ukraine-Russia war escalated the real threat of chemical weapons, warns global toxic arms watchdog

Previous attacks on the Ukrainian energy grid left the country dealing with below-zero temperatures as its infrastructure teeters on the brink of collapse.&nbsp;

This has disrupted the power and water supplies of millions of Ukrainians over the recent weeks. As per an AFP report quoting the Governor of Kyiv, the most recent barrage of attacks in which Ukraine was the target of dozens of cruise missiles has resulted in residents in and around the national capital still reeling with disruptions.

The Kremlin has denied targetting Ukraine's energy infrastructure and said that its forces only target military-linked infrastructure facilities. It blamed the blackouts and the impact they have on Ukrainian civilians on Kyiv's refusal to negotiate.

Russia invaded Ukraine. If Russia chooses to stop fighting in Ukraine and left, it would be the end of the war. As per the report, Chekanov was captured by Ukrainian forces on October 11 and upon returning, he shared that he "still can't believe I'm home".

Lyudmila, the mother of one of the freed fighters, claimed her son Yevgeny had dropped a lot of weight since she last saw him but expressed relief that he was now home.&nbsp;

"I didn't recognise him," she said while talking to the news agency.

Biden administration wants Ukraine to change its stand on peace negotiations with Russia: Reports

In his evening address, the war-torn nation's president said "The more Russian prisoners we have, the sooner we will be able to free our heroes. Every Ukrainian soldier, every front-line commander should remember this."

Recalling her capture, she said that she was with her daughter in Mariupol, that the two got separated, and that she has yet to see her daughter.

"I will go to see my daughter. I want to see her so bad."

One of the few multinationals to have remained in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine, Danone said the move to "transfer the effective control" of the dairy business could result in a write-off of up to one billion euros ($980 million).

The arm represented five per cent of Danone's net sales in 2022 so far.

As per IANS, Ruchira Kamboj, India's permanent representative explained that India has decided to abstain keeping with its "firm resolve to strive for a peaceful solution through dialogue and diplomacy".

"We have consistently advocated that no solution can ever be arrived at the cost of human lives. Escalation of hostilities and violence is in no one's interest."

While those looking to book an eight-seater plane must spend between $86,500 and $151,300 (£80,000 and £140,000), which is a significant hike on the standard fare.

Eduard Simonov of FlightWay, a company that offers private jet flights says that the demand for one-way flights to Armenia, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Dubai has increased by 50 times.

The group mainly was composed of men in their 20s who were all stuffed into one room. The one woman in the group, 50-year-old Mary Edit Uthajkumar, was kept separately.

Mary, who is a heart patient was refused medicine for her condition. She said they were locked in a room and even beaten up.

"They used to beat us when we went to take a shower. They didn't even allow me to meet the others. We were stuck inside for three months."

Among the men, two had their toenails torn off with pliers. All of them reported being beaten up by drunk Russian soldiers, at times guns were used to inflict the beating.

"They hit me across the body many times with their guns," one man, 35-year-old Thinesh Gogenthiran. "One of them punched me in the stomach and I was in pain for two days. He then asked me for money."

When the Ukrainian forces started retaking territory in eastern Ukraine earlier this month, including Vovchansk, the seven Sri Lankans were ultimately freed.

Once again, they began their walk towards Kharkiv. They had no way to get in touch with their relatives as they&nbsp;had no phones.&nbsp;But eventually, their fortune changed when a passing motorist noticed them and dialled the cops. They were given a police officer's phone.&nbsp;They have now been brought to Kharkiv, where they are receiving medical care.

Faced with an energy crisis at the hands of Russia, Germany has taken a U-turn from its plans of a nuclear exit and announced on Monday that it would keep two of its nuclear plants on standby beyond the end of this year.

This comes a Russia has shut off gas supplies to Europe. After a three-day maintenance period last week, Russian energy giant Gazprom announced that gas deliveries via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline would not resume&nbsp;as scheduled. It blamed Western sanctions for the decision.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, "problems with pumping (gas) arose due to sanctions that were imposed against" Russia.

The facilities as per AFP would be held in reserve in case they were needed to "make a further contribution to the electricity grid in southern Germany," where the development of renewable energy lagged behind that of the north.

According to Habeck, such a crisis is still "very unlikely" because Germany has "very high security of supply."

The Green Minister also emphasised that Germany was sticking to its plan to abandon nuclear power, with all plants being disconnected from the grid at the end of the year, and that it was not reversing course.

New fuel rods won't be installed, and the reserve programme will end after mid-April 2023, according to Habeck.

The decision partially postpones a nuclear phase-out that was envisioned under the previous chancellor Angela Merkel, who decided to abandon nuclear power in 2011 in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan.

Habeck remarked that it was "not a surprise" that Moscow did not resume gas deliveries via Nord Stream 1.

Reportedly,&nbsp;the military is currently conducting "an ammunitions industrial base deep dive in order to support Ukraine while safeguarding their "own supply needs."

The Army claimed it also requested $500 million in annual upgrades for its ammunition factories from Capitol Hill.

Wednesday (August 24) marked six months since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched an all-out attack on neighbouring Ukraine. The day held additional significance for Kyiv because it was on this day, 31 years ago, that the country declared its independence from the Soviet Union. As the anniversary celebrations commenced, Ukraine also unveiled plans for how it intends to make Putin responsible for his crimes.

As per an AFP report, Ukraine is drawing up plans for a special international tribunal to investigate Russia's alleged "crime of aggression".

The Rome Statute of 2010 established the definition of the crime of aggression.&nbsp;However, since neither Ukraine nor Russia has joined the Rome Statute, it is unable to investigate charges of aggression.

Winter is coming and with it Germany faces the looming threat of an energy shortage. To deal with this threat, the nation's government has approved a new bylaw that will turn buildings colder and leave streets darker.

The law prohibits heating public spaces like town halls and train waiting rooms above 19 degrees Celsius (66.2F). However, social institutions like hospitals are exempted from this rule.

As per Guardian, the legislation will come into force in about a week's time and will remain in place for six months.&nbsp;

Albania has detained three foreign nationals: one Ukrainian and two Russians, as they were trying to infiltrate the Gramsh military facility.

“Three citizens with Russian and Ukrainian passports tried to enter the factory,” said the Albanian defence ministry.

Reuters reports that&nbsp;in a statement on Saturday, the defence ministry stated that two of its soldiers were injured while trying to stop the foreign nationals.&nbsp;

He sprayed a chemical on the security personnel as he attempted to flee after being stopped by the military, causing injuries. According to EuroNews, the guards are receiving medical care in a hospital.

A 33-year-old Russian woman, identified as S.T., and a 25-year-old Ukrainian male titled F.A. were also detained nearby.

The three foreign nationals have been detained, according to the government. Prime minister of Albania Edi Rama said the three people are "suspected of espionage".

It further said that the injured soldiers were in stable condition. A 24-year-old Russian male who was only identified as a Russian national M.Z. was one of those detained.
