Kremlin said last week that there wasn't any discussion of nationwide mobilisation to help forces in Ukraine.

However, these mobile trucks for recruitment are being perceived to be a sign of need for more soldiers.&nbsp;

Reuters said that officer in charge of Rostov truck said Russians and even foreigners between the ages 18 and 60 with at least high school education were eligible to join.

"Patriotically-minded citizens are choosing to sign contracts for three or six months to take part in the special military operation," major Sergei Ardashev said, promising training for everyone.

The minimum monthly wage on offer is 160,000 roubles ($2,700), which is almost three times the national average.

One potential recruit was musician Viktor Yakunin, who said he had always been attracted by the idea of military service and was now collecting necessary documents.

"I would love to serve in the airborne troops," he said. "My parents brought me up since childhood to love my homeland, to protect the Russian world. I believe the power is with us."

According to reports, the crowd gathered near the city’s main square where the police estimate that over 6,000 were present for the protests. “Moldova is now in clinical death, to which the current authorities have brought it,” said Dinu Turcanu, a politician from the opposition party of Ilan Shor. Notably, the politician is also a businessman convicted of fraud in connection with a nearly US$1 billion bank scandal.&nbsp;

Sunday’s protest was one of the largest demonstrations seen in the small ex-Soviet country since Sandu was elected after a landslide victory in 2020 whose campaign reportedly promised to end corruption. Since then she has pledged to make Moldova a member of the European Union (EU) which has provided a large amount of aid to the country in the past. &nbsp;

Russia has shut Nord Stream 1, a vital gas pipeline.

Germany said that it is aiming to sign LNG contracts in the UAE. France, Spain and others are making contingency plans to avoid power cuts.

"If everything goes well, savings in Germany are high and we have a bit of luck with the weather, we ... have a chance at getting through the winter comfortably," Economy Minister Robert Habeck said after a tour of a future LNG terminal in northern Germany. He was quote by Reuters.

Germany's RWE said it was "in good and constructive talks" with Qatar about LNG deliveries, before a planned visit by Chancellor Olaf Scholz to the Gulf. Ailing importer Uniper said it had not reached a deal yet.

Germany will also be able to count on gas flowing from France from around Oct. 10, the head of France's CRE energy regulator said, following an announcement by President Emmanuel Macron that the two would help each other with energy supplies.

In France, CRE chief Emmanuelle Wargon said that if energy group EDF's race to repair corrosion-hit nuclear reactors suffers delays, "exceptional" measures this winter could include localised electricity cuts.

"But there will be no gas cuts for households. Never," she told franceinfo broadcaster.

Russia’s secretary of the national Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, is currently in Nanping, a city in China, where he described “strengthening of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation with Beijing as an unconditional priority of Russia’s foreign policy.” While the council is personally chaired by the Russian president, Patrushev is reportedly one of Putin’s closest associates.&nbsp;

These remarks were made during a meeting with the Chinese Communist Party’s top official, Guo Shengkun, where he also said that given the current conditions, “our countries must show even greater readiness for mutual support and development of cooperation.”&nbsp;

According to the secretary of the security council’s office, both countries have reportedly decided to expand on “exchanging information on countering extremism” and “foreign attempts to undermine constitutional order of both countries.” Reports also suggest that officials from Moscow and Beijing have stressed the need for cybersecurity.&nbsp;

However, officials stated that 99 per cent of the exhumed bodies found at the burial site had signs of violent death, meaning the Russian troops tortured and mutilated them when killing. In the last few days, the White House has also taken a rather aggressive stance in calling out Putin on the public platform. After Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised Putin that&nbsp;'today's era is not of war', Washington&nbsp;quickly&nbsp;jumped in on the conversation and gave its version to Moscow.

Additionally, US secretary of state Antony Blinken stated that what India and China communicated to Russia reflected the concerns of the world.&nbsp;

“What you're hearing from China, from India, is reflective of concerns around the world about the effects of Russia's aggression on Ukraine.” said Blinken.

“In the last seven days, Russia has increased its targeting of civilian infrastructure even where it probably perceives no immediate military effect,” said the UK's defence ministry. UK: Russia may attack more civilian targets in Ukraine

A report by the US National Defense University has identified a potential weakness shared by the Chinese and Russian militaries.

According to the report, the top officers across the five services, i.e., army, navy, air force, rocket force and strategic support force of both the countries lack operational experience in any branch other than the one they started their careers from.

Meaning, the soldiers of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) stay as soldiers, sailors remain sailors, and airmen stay airmen. They are not given cross-training unlike the the US military, where, since 1986, their forces are trained in other combat modes.

It further states that a lack of cross-training can emerge as a possible Achilles' Heel within the People's Liberation Army (PLA), CNN reported, however analysts are wary of underestimating China's capabilities.

The 73-page report states this might be the reason why Russia is facing setbacks in Ukraine, and why China might share a similar fate if it wages a war like Russia.

"Operational commanders who never needed to gain a high level of understanding of logistics or maintenance might fail to use those forces optimally, paralleling another Russian failure in 2022," &nbsp;report's author Joel Wuthnow has said, according to CNN.

Making a comparison of four-star rank commanders in 2021, such as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs or the head of Indo-Pacific Command in the United States or leaders of the Central Military Commission or theater commands in China, the report found that all of the 40 US officers had joint-service experience compared to 77 per cent of their 31 Chinese equivalents.

It pointed out another key difference, while almost all the four-star commanders in the US had operational experience, &nbsp;in China, only &nbsp;half were "professional political commissars."

On Saturday, the Russian defence ministry claimed that its forces had carried out attacks on Ukrainian locations across the country and accused Kyiv of bombarding the area around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power facility.&nbsp;

"Self defence is not only licit but also an expression of love for the homeland. Someone who does not defend oneself, who does not defend something, does not love it. Those who defend (something) loves it," he said.

Explaining the difference between when it is moral or immoral to supply weapons to another country, Francis said:

"It can be immoral if the intention is provoking more war, or to sell arms or dump arms that (a country) no longer needs. The motivation is what in large part qualifies the morality of this action," he said.

Supplying arms to Ukraine 'morally acceptable', says Pope

US Treasury has put sanctions on a neo-Nazi fighter group, top Russian finance officials and a children's rights official. This official allegedly directs the removal of Ukrainian children to Russia

22 individuals and two entities were added to the blacklist. This includes justice officials in Russia-occupied Crimea and family of Ramzan Kadyrov, Chechen Republic leader.

In a parallel move, the Treasury and US Commerce Department banned the export of quantum computing services, hardware and software to Russia and Belarus in a move the Treasury said would degrade Moscow's ability to rebuild its military after heavy losses in the continuing war with Ukraine.

"As Ukraine presses forward with defending its freedom, today we're taking steps to further degrade Russia's ability to rebuild its military, hold perpetrators of violence accountable, and further financially isolate (Russian President Vladimir) Putin," said Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in a statement.

The fresh sanctions are aimed at heads of key Russian financial institutions. These include NSPK. It runs the Mir payment card network. Other institutions include National Settlement Depository, CCP NCC,

The US Treasury has blacklisted Maria Alexeyevna Lvova-Belova. She is Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights.

US Treasury said that Lvova-Belova works directly under Putin and has overseen deportation of 'thousands' of Ukrainian children to Russia.

"Lvova-Belova's efforts specifically include the forced adoption of Ukrainian children into Russian families, the so-called 'patriotic education' of Ukrainian children, legislative changes to expedite the provision of Russian Federation citizenship to Ukrainian children, and the deliberate removal of Ukrainian children by Russia's forces," it said.

Several lawmakers from St Petersburg have filed a petition in the country’s lower house of parliament, the State Duma, to charge Russian President Vladimir Putin with treason and remove him from office over the conflict in Ukraine. This move drew swift action from authorities as the next day, they received subpoenas from the police charging them with discrediting the Russian armed forces.&nbsp;

The petition was filed on September 7, in the country’s lower house of Parliament, by a group of seven lawmakers from the Smolninskoye district, in St Petersburg where Putin grew up and began his journey in politics as the deputy mayor. The plea was originally written by Nikita Yuferyev and Dmitry Palyuga, who assert&nbsp;that they have acted in accordance with Russian law. Subsequently, they have also published their petition on Twitter, saying that Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine amounts to “treason” based on the country’s constitution.&nbsp;

The duo has based their arguments on four major consequences of the war – the destruction of combat-ready Russian army units, massive loss of life and injury of young and employable citizens, its adverse effect on the country’s economy, and pushing NATO's eastward expansion. During an interview, Yuferyev clarified that they do not see NATO’s expansion as a threat to Moscow, but it is an attempt to appeal to different groups in the country and convince them to call an end to this invasion.&nbsp;

A part of the petition filed by the lawmaker duo from the Smolninskoye district read, “We believe that the decision made by President Putin to start the special military operation is detrimental to the security of Russia and its citizens…We ask you to initiate a treason charge against the president of the Russian Federation to remove him from office."

Notably, half of all the members in the St. Petersburg’s council belong to Putin's party, United Russia; these members did not show up for the voting on the submission of the petition, said Yuferyev. Out of the 20 members, only ten councillors were present for the vote, which is enough for a quorum, according to Russian law. However, ultimately only seven lawmakers approved the petition with three abstentions, which was a majority among the councillors present.&nbsp;

Reportedly, a second municipal council in Moscow’s Lomonosovsky district also voted on a similar petition criticising Putin’s rhetoric regarding the conflict and called for his resignation. “The rhetoric you and your subordinates use is full of intolerance and aggression,” read the statement. It added, that while Russia is threatening the world with nuclear weapons, its people will once again be feared and hated. The petition also urged Putin to step down and called his views and model of governance “hopelessly outdated”.&nbsp;

Russia: Local lawmakers who accused Putin of treason summoned by police

Learning the lesson of being overtly dependent on a single country for its needs in the backdrop of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Germany is looking to make amends. The European country is now mulling plans to reduce its dependence on Chinese raw materials by chalking up a new trade deal.&nbsp;

Reportedly, Economy Minister Robert Habeck stated that Germany couldn't be allowed to be blackmailed by other countries.&nbsp;

"We cannot allow ourselves to be blackmailed. If [the Chinese market] were to close, which is not likely at the moment...we would have extreme sales problems," said Habeck.

Ukrainian forces in Kharkiv hit by precision strikes: Russian defence ministry

The last operational reactor at the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in southern Ukraine has been shut down amid fears of radiation disaster, the Ukraine government announced on Sunday.

The nuclear operator Energoatom said that the No6 reactor has been disconnected. It said they are preparing for the reactor to be cooled and transferred to a cold, safer state.

“Today, September 11, 2022, at night, at 03.41 am (0141 GMT), unit No. 6 of the ZNPP was disconnected from the power grid. Preparations are underway for its cooling and transfer to a cold state," it said in a statement.

The Zaporizhzhia plant, which was running on six reactors, was cut off from the electricity grid last and all its power lines were disconnected following intense shelling in the area, reports AFP.

It was running on only one reactor and that too in “island mode” for several days, essentially powering the rest of the plant's crucial cooling systems.

The state agency said the plant was restored to operational capacity, allowing the plant to be powered by Ukraine’s energy system long enough to initiate the shutdown.

It said that the nuclear plant’s shutdown was because the risk of further damage to the power lines “remains high”, which would disconnect the plant completely from the power grid again, in which case the plant would have to fire up emergency diesel generators to keep the reactors cool and prevent a nuclear meltdown.

The nuclear plant was occupied by the Russian forces in the early stages of the invasion. It is one of the 10 biggest atomic power stations in the world.

Russia and Ukraine traded blame for shelling around the plant that has caused significant damage to the power lines connecting it to the grid.

Secureworks Counter Threat Unit (CTU), a company that analyses threat data across the planet, observed a series of attacks in the month of July that used the LuhX malware. Government officials in Europe, West Asia, and South America were reportedly targeted. The Chinese espionage group imitated official diplomatic notices and lured the government officials. “Several characteristics of this campaign indicate that it was conducted by the likely Chinese government-sponsored Bronze President threat group, including the use of PlugX, file paths and naming schemes previously used by the threat group, the presence of shellcode in executable file headers, and politically themed decoy documents that align with regions where China has interests,” the CTU research team wrote in a statement. Explaining that the PlugX malware had capabilities beyond just information gathering, the CTU team further added. "PlugX is modular malware that contacts a command and control (C2) server for tasking and can download additional plugins to enhance its capability beyond basic information gathering," it said. It is pertinent to note that the malware usually arrived in the victim's computer, embedded within RAR archive files. Upon opening the file, the user is shown a Windows shortcut (LNK) file. Once the user clicks on the LNK file, the Plux malware is loaded, decrypted and executed in the system. The group stated that recently a Turkish official was targeted using a similar modus-operandi. The official received a notification letter, supposedly from the UK government, informing about the appointment of a new ambassador. However. the truth is there has been no change in the personnel. Opening the mail could have compromised the official. The cybersecurity firm advised that countries and organisations that China has an interest in could be at the most risk of being targeted and thus they needed to be aware of the group's activities. “Organisations in geographic regions of interest to China should closely monitor this group’s activities, especially organisations associated with or operating as government agencies,” read the statement. The former coordinator for a UN panel of experts that monitors sanctions on North Korea said, "The North Koreans do have tremendous stockpiles of relatively primitive artillery and rocket systems some of which are of a similar type and calibre used by the Russians to shell Ukrainian cities and towns."

It comes after the White House said Russia could be about to buy millions of artillery shells and rockets from old Cold-War ally North Korea.

According to Bruce Bechtol, a professor at Angelo State University in Texas, who has done research on North Korea's arms sales, Pyongyang is most likely to supply 122mm rocket launchers, 107mm Katyusha rockets, 155mm or 122mm artillery shells, or other small arms ammunition for machine guns or automatic rifles.

He believes that the reason Russia is asking North Korea for weapons is that Moscow preparing for a major offensive that requires extra supplies.

Bechtol said that the deal would not be unprecedented as North Korea sold ammunition to both Iran and Syria and to Hezbollah during the Syrian civil war.

Accusing North Korea of dodging sanctions to supply weapons to Syria and Myanmar, Griffiths said a deal with Russia could be larger than many of those previous shipments.

North Korea would likely send any arms to Russia by rail across their shared border as the deal would be a sanctions violation and therefore ships could be subject to seizure while at sea.

Highlighting would be much less risky for the North Koreans to smuggle munitions illegally into Russia than it is for them to send military equipment or munitions via sea or air to Myanmar or Syria, Griffiths noted that the ''North Koreans would not be hesitant to deplete their stockpiles for such an important and unusual client.''

Earlier today, Gazprom stated that the resumption of the pipeline depended on Seimens, the German company.
