Ranveer Singh's response wins hearts as F1 veteran Martin Brundle fails to recognise the actor

Ranveer Singh is a method actor and he is known to immerse himself deep into the character's skin to deliver groundbreaking performances. And, that is exactly what he did for his 2018 historical drama 'Padmaavat', helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Recently, while having a candid conversation at Marrakech International Film Festival, Ranveer opened up about the extreme measures he used to take to get into a character, early on in his career, before he developed his acting skills.

Talking about his film 'Lootera' and how he played a character that gets shot in the leg, he revealed that he went to great lengths to physically replicate the pain and get the right look for the shot. He shared that he would use industrial-grade clips to hurt himself and replicate the physical pain one feels after getting shot.

"I used to take these very industrial grade clips and clip them to my hip in the morning, do hair and make-up, and then travel to set. It would collect all of this blood and be very tender… When they said, roll camera, I would hit it and pain would go from the tip of my toe to my hip. I was actually recreating that degree of physical pain because I did not know how to do it," Singh shared.

The B-towner then moved on to his 2018 film 'Padmaavat' and shared how he channelled the evil Sultan Alauddin Khilji, who allegedly committed genocide and killed thousands in battles.

"This was a bit harmful, this character," said Singh. "Trying to create Khilji, I couldn’t wrap my head around a person who allegedly committed genocide. The kind of things I read about this guy and what he did is unimaginable. I was asking myself how can I play this with conviction. They say he killed 30,000 soldiers and made a giant pillar of all their skulls to deter invaders from coming down that path again."

Over the years, Deepika Padukone has become the face and voice of mental health in India, and beyond. The actress, producer, and philanthropist featured on the podcast ‘Archetype’ hosted by Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex. The episode, which also features American actress Constance Wu, deep dives into the importance of taking care of our minds, as we do with our bodies.

During her conversation with Meghan, Deepika said, “It's (mental health) the same way we have physical ailments. Our mind is very much a part of our body. But somehow, when it comes to mental illness, we start treating our minds like outside of our bodies”.

In many parts of the world, including India, mental health and conversations around it are still considered taboo.

Deepika broke this down beautifully, “There's two parts to this. One is, I think, where people struggle the most, especially in India, where there's so much stigma attached to mental illness - creating awareness. Most of us don't even know that we're struggling with mental illness. And second, if we are to destigmatize it, to let people know that it's okay to seek help and to let caregivers know that it's okay for someone to go through this.”

For Deepika, her family has been a critical support system. She says, “Today it's all about the little things, like hugging my sister or just late-night conversations with my husband - those are the moments that really fill me up today”.

The actress who is married to actor Ranveer Singh also mentioned how the two have been apart for a while due to work commitments. "My husband was at a music festival for a week and he’s just come back. So, he’s gonna be happy to see my face,” said Deepika during the podcast. There have been speculations about a rift between the couple as many reports stated that the marriage had a hit a rough patch. But going by Deepika's statement looks like things are well in paradise.

The actress also introspected on her journey citing that as difficult as navigating mental illness was, she was grateful that she went through that experience because it changed her life forever. She wrapped up by reflecting on her current work in the mental health space. “What is my purpose? It's about, when I leave this place, when I leave the earth, what is it that I can leave behind? And how many lives can I positively impact? I've been on that journey for the last couple of years”.

For the past few days, social media had been abuzz with Bollywood couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer's separation rumours and their concerned fans were constantly asking them about the same. Ranveer Singh bags 'Best Actor of the Year' award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne for '83'

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, who recently got embroiled in a controversy for posing nude for a magazine photoshoot, has now been summoned by the Mumbai Police for the same.

The `Padmaavat` actor will be served notice to record his statement in connection with his nude photoshoot controversy. He has been summoned to appear before the police on August 22.

A team of Mumbai Police reached his residence on Friday but couldn't serve the notice because Ranveer is not present in Mumbai right now. The Mumbai Police filed the FIR under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code like 292 (sale of obscene books, etc), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young people), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and provisions of the Information Technology Act.

The images from Ranveer's photo shoot for Paper magazine were posted online on July 21. In the images, Ranveer is seen wearing no clothes. In one of the images, he was seen lying on a rug naked recreating Burt Reynold's famous photograph.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranveer was recently seen in Netflix's interactive special 'Ranveer vs Wild with Bear Grylls' which received a positive response from netizens all over the globe.

As far as films are concerned, he will next be seen in Rohit Shetty's next directorial film 'Cirkus' with Jacqueline Fernandes and Pooja Hegde. The film is slated to release on the occasion of Christmas 2022.
Ranveer Singh controversy: Yashraj Mukhate pokes fun at TV debates with latest 'Bum' remix

Ranveer Singh continues to court controversy thanks to his recent nude photo shoot. On Wednesday, a complaint was filed against the actor before the Maharashtra State Commission for Women.

As per complainant Ashish Rai, an advocate, Ranveer`s pictures are against the "dignity of women and small children." He demanded his nude photos be deleted from social media.

Ranveer posed nude for New York-based Paper Magazine. The actor is featured in the cover story of the magazine's latest issue.

Demand has also been made to the Women`s Commission to take action under suo-motu cognizance.

This isn't the first complaint against the actor's now-viral photo shoot. On Tuesday, an FIR has been registered against him on a complaint filed at the Chembur Police Station. Reportedly the case has been filed after receiving the complaint by an office-bearer of the NGO who had alleged that the actor hurt the sentiments of women with his nude photos.

The images from Ranveer`s photoshoot were first posted online on July 21. In the images, Ranveer is seen wearing no clothes. In one of the images, he was seen lying on a rug naked recreating Burt Reynold`s famous photograph.
Legal experts spoke to WION and stated that the FIR seemed like an attention-seeking tactic on the complainant's part.

"If at all a charge sheet is filed after proper investigation, then why just Ranveer? A case under the IT Act can be filed against the publication as well," pointed out a senior Mumbai-based lawyer. Read more about the case here.

On the work front, Ranveer will next be seen in Rohit Shetty's next directorial film 'Cirkus' with Jacqueline Fernandes and Pooja Hegde. The film is slated to release on the occasion of Christmas 2022.

Apart from that, Ranveer also has `Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani` with Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan. The film is all set to hit the theatres on February 11, 2023.

Much ado about nothing? Should Ranveer Singh face the law for posing nude?

A couple of days ago, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh sent the internet into a frenzy with his nude photoshoot for a magazine. Twitterati had a field day as they shared memes on the micro-blogging site with Ranveer's viral snaps. The actor received praises and criticism in equal measure for posing nude. John Abraham, while promoting his upcoming film 'Ek Villain Returns' in New Delhi was asked to react on Ranveer Singh's viral photo shoot. Abraham candidly revealed that he too had some nude scenes in 'Dostana' that were edited out in the post-production stage.

When a media person asked John and Arjun Kapoor to comment on Ranveer Singh's viral nude photoshoot, Arjun said, "Ranveer is a person who is known for his personality. He is someone who stays true to himself and never pretends to be someone else. If he is happy doing what he is doing and if it’s done aesthetically and if it is something that is coming from a genuine place to showcase how comfortable he is with his body then none of us should have a problem with that."

Arjun further added that Ranveer has every right to entertain people in whichever way he seems fit and all of us should accept it as a part of his expression and move on.

Adding to Arjun's answer, John Abraham said, "I've also wanted to tell you that there are a lot of edited portions of 'Dostana' that have had nude scenes." Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, 'Dostana' released in 2008 and featured John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Bobby Deol. John had raised eyebrows in one shot in the film which had him flashing part of his buttocks, dressed in a yellow swimming trunk.

On Monday, John and Arjun were joined by Disha Patani, Bhushan Kumar and Ekta Kapoor at Inox, Nehru Place for a press conference for their upcoming film 'Ek Villain Returns'. The film is helmed by Mohit Suri and it will hit theatres on July 29.

John Abraham on Ranveer Singh's viral cover: Nude scenes were edited from 'Dostana'

Ranveer Singh may have not worn any clothes for his photoshoot with Paper magazine, but the shoot still billed a whopping amount it seems. The actor recently made headlines for posing butt naked for Paper magazine. A series of photos of the actor went viral a few days back that had a naked Singh sprawled over a Turkish rug. Turns out that the rug came with a big price tag.

If reports are to be believed, the carpet that Singh used as a prop for the shoot costs around Rs 6.6 lakhs (approx 8,260 USD). The price of the rug has led to multiple reactions on the net.
