Pakistan cricketer Mohammed Rizwan has revealed that he had asked the team management to be dropped from the two-match Test series against New Zealand last month. The wicketkeeper batter said he did not deserve a place in the playing XI after a string of disappointing performances. “You can ask the head coach Saqlain Mushtaq what I told him after the end of the England Test series," Rizwan was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan. “I went to the coach and captain myself and told them that you can drop me because I haven’t performed. Two players are witnesses to this conversation," he added. Rizwan admitted that he was happy to see his replacement Sarfaraz perform well and contribute to the team's cause. "I was happy to see Sarfaraz perform because that is what I wanted. I personally thought that since I wasn’t able to perform, I didn’t deserve to play in the next series." WATCH | Babar gives blunt response when asked if he regrets not playing Sarfaraz Ahmed for four years Ahmed had a terrific series with the bat as he smashed 335 runs in the Two tests with an average of 83.75. He ended the series as Pakistan's highest run-getter. The former Pakistan captain made his comeback into the Test squad after four long years in the wilderness. While Rizwan claims he played a part in Ahmed's selection, the latter had smashed a century and a half-century in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy in the last two outings in Sindh, prior to the comeback call. Skipper Babar Azam in a press conference also conceded that Ahmed was selected based on his performance. "As I mentioned before in the Test match presser, the way he waited, he remained undeterred and didn't lose hope. He did all his training, wicket-keeping and batting with dedication and executed his plans to perfection when he got a chance. He played a great knock in a crunch situation and that's a hallmark of an experienced player. It was a dream comeback for sure." (With inputs from agencies) WATCH WION LIVE HERE:

Asked coach and captain to drop me: Mohammed Rizwan on not playing the New Zealand Test series

In response to the latest reports of Pakistan planning to boycott the upcoming 50-over World Cup in India if the venue for the 2023 Asia Cup is changed, ace Test spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has come up with a solution. It was during September last year when Pakistan was allotted the hosting rights of 2023 Asia Cup, but it escalated quickly after the BCCI secretary, Jay Shah got appointed as new the head of the Asia Cricket Council (ACC), and in October said that owing to the current diplomatic relations between both countries, India will not be travelling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

So these meant two things – either the venue will be changed or India will opt to pull out of the multi-team tournament. In both cases, Pakistan had put forward their counter response saying if either of this happens then the PCB will boycott the 50-over World Cup in India, scheduled for later part of the year. Ramiz Raja, who was earlier replaced by Najam Sethi as the PCB’s new boss, vouched for the same while during ACC’s latest meeting in Bahrain the past week, Sethi is believed to have echoed Raja’s words to Jay Shah and other members of the council too. A final decision on the change in Asia Cup venue will be taken in the ACC's next meeting in March.

"The ACC had a constructive dialogue on the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The Board agreed to continue discussions on operations, timelines and any other specifics with a view to ensuring the success of the tournament. An update on the matter would be taken on the next ACC Executive Board Meeting to be held in March 2023," the ACC said in its statement after the meeting.

Meanwhile, Ravi Ashwin also shared his thoughts on the same saying this tussle is nothing new, and even came up with a solution if the Asia Cup venue is changed.

"Asia Cup was supposed to take place in Pakistan. But India has announced that if it takes place in Pakistan, then we won't be participating. If you want us to participate, then do change the venue. But we would have seen this happen many times, right? When we say Asia Cup won't go to their place, they will say that they will also not come to our place. However, I think that is not possible,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Suggesting that Dubai should now be overlooked as the neutral venue as a lot of games have already been played there, Ashwin suggested Sri Lanka could also be looked up to as an option, and instead he’d rather be happy if this happens.

“The final call might be that the Asia Cup might be moved to Sri Lanka. This is important in lead-up to the 50-over World Cup. Many tournaments have taken place in Dubai. I would also be pleased if it is moved to Sri Lanka,” Ashwin added.

There is always plenty happening in Pakistan cricket. In late 2022, Ramiz Raja was sacked as Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) chairman as Najam Sethi once again took over the post. Shahid Afridi acted as the interim chief selector before Haroon Rashid succeeded him. With Saqlain Mushtaq's tenure getting over as the head coach, there have been lots of talk regarding who will succeed the former spinner. While there were speculations of Justin Langer getting the role, the reports fizzled out sooner than later as Mickey Arthur's name started doing the rounds.

Arthur is currently serving a long-term deal with Derbyshire and isn't willing to end his County stint. Nonetheless, reportedly he was offered the role of Pakistan's head coach -- which he had served from 2016-2019 -- and is likely to become Pakistan's first online coach as PCB are keen to rehire him. Amid all this, a lot has been said and written about PCB looking set to reappoint Arthur in the Pakistan cricket setup. Sikander Bakht, Pakistan's former batter who represented the national side in 26 Tests, has joined the bandwagon and stated that Arthur might join as team director. In addition, he made a big claim over foreign coach's presence in Pakistan team setup.

'Do you think any of these can tell anything to Babar, Shadab, Shaheen?'

“I was with the Pakistan team as assistant coach from 2000-2003. The guy who was above me hadn't played a single ODI, but everyone listened to him. He was a South African, I don't remember his name. Once, I tried to tell something to one of the players but he interrupted me, saying ‘I’ve played 40 Tests, you've played 26. Let me handle it'. He actually said that. Do you think any of these can tell anything to Babar, Shadab, Shaheen? If someone comes up and tells them anything, they will…” Bakht said before he was interrupted by the anchors on Geo Super.

When one of the anchor interrupted and asked if there's a need for a person who ensures everyone listens to them, Bakht replied saying, "Foreign coach ke saath ye log (players) sahi rehte hain. Vo angrez rehta hai toh ye log uss se darte hain (These players are kept in check with foreign coaches. Because he's a foreigner, they are scared of him). You see, we had Javed Miandad, Waqar Younis, Saqlain Mushtaq, and Mohammad Yousuf as coaches. But no one could handle the players,” concluded the former Pakistan cricketer.

Recently, former captain and coach Misbah-ul-Haq also reacted to Arthur's likely appointment as the online coach. He didn't mince his words while speaking to ESPNCricinfo, and said, "It is a slap on our cricket system that we are not able to find a high-profile full-time coach. It is a shame that the best ones do not want to come and we insist on having someone who is looking at Pakistan as a second option." In addition, blasted Pakistan's cricket system, and several ex-cricketers, for using their YouTube channels for ratings. "I blame our own system, which is vulnerable enough with so many weak lines for anyone to exploit it. We are to be blamed ourselves that we have disrespected and discredited our own people to make a bad image. The present and former lot do not respect each other, with media and former players using their own YouTube channels for ratings, grossly hitting the credibility and value of our cricket which, as as result, gives an impression that we are not capable," the former right-handed batter further asserted.

'Players are in check...': Ex-cricketer on likely appointment of Mickey Arthur as Pakistan's online coach

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has once again made a strange claim, insinuating that India copied Pakistan's bowling attack. “I often feel India took a look at Pakistan and designed their bowling attack the same way," said the ex-cricketer on his YouTube channel.

"Umran Malik has pace just like Haris Rauf, Arshdeep brings the left-arm angle like Shaheen Afridi. Wasim Jr. chips in during the middle-overs and so does Hardik Pandya, both have the same pace as well. Shivam Mavi also plays the role of a supporting bowler,” added Raja.

While Raja made the rather anecdotal statement, India has produced a flurry of good fast bowlers over the years. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are a few of the others that have been around much longer than some of the Pakistani bowlers.

This is not the first instance when Raja has courted controversy for making statements targeting the Indian team. As the PCB chairman, he had threatened to boycott the 2023 50-over World Cup if India did not come to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup.

“If Pakistan doesn't take part in the World Cup scheduled in India next year, who will watch it? We have a clear stand: If the Indian team comes here then we will go for the World Cup. If they don't come then they can play the World Cup without us," Raja had said.

Such a statement from Raja, despite him being the head of a cricketing board did not go down well with BCCI as well as former Pakistani players.

Wasim Akram slammed Raja for his statements by referring to him as a kid.

"He came for six days, now he is back to his original place," said Akram.

"Najam Sethi [PCB chairman] gave a very sensible answer. It all depends on approval from both governments. You have to talk properly with boards. This is not gully cricket, that if you don’t come, we also will not go to your country. I don’t understand who are these kids, who come and run cricket in Pakistan."

Former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja claims India 'copied' Pakistan's bowling template

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is taking a lot of big decisions in order to revive Pakistan cricket. Recently, reports came in that the PCB is set to rehire Mickey Arthur, the national side's former coach, as their first online coach. This led to a widespread criticism and former Pakistan captain-cum-coach Misbah-ul-Haq has also joined in and didn't mince his words while reacting to the likely appointment of Arthur into the Pakistani setup.

It is believed that PCB were keen to rehire Arthur as their full-time head coach but the South African is currently on a long-term deal with Derbyshire and isn't willing to end his County stint. As per the arrangement with PCB, Arthur will not be physically present with the Pakistan team but will have his trusted people who will manage the operations on his behalf. He is expected to not travel with Babar Azam & Co. for the 2023 Asia Cup but will be part of their ODI World Cup campaign, in India, followed by their Test tour of Australia later this year.

'It is a slap....': Misbah reacts to Mickey Arthur's likely appointment as Pakistan's first online coach

Following the premature sacking of World Cup winner Ramiz Raja as the Pakistan Cricket Board’s chief in December last year, Najam Sethi - a relatively known figure in the board, was re-elected as the new boss. Going all out against Sethi soon after, Raja claimed just to fit in one person, he got removed overnight and was not even allowed to collect his belongings from his office the next morning. Meanwhile, during an interview with a local TV channel later on, Raja, while remaining stern on his stance of not in favour of allowing tainted cricketers to represent Pakistan in any capacity – brought Wasim and Waqar’s name into the conversation; Raja added had he been the head of the board then, he would have never allowed any such cricketers to play for the country.

Such remarks, for obvious reasons, didn’t go well with the veteran players, with Wasim in particular saying, ‘after six days in office, Raja is back to where in belongs.’

Earlier, the verbal spat with Najam Sethi also led to some dirty remarks being thrown from both ends in addition to harming each other’s reputation on public level.

As we get into the details of it, let’s have a look at who said what and to whom in this verbal battle between Wasim Akram, Ramiz Raja and Najam Sethi.

Ramiz Raja vs Najam Sethi

Soon after he got removed from his position as the PCB chief, Ramiz on his YouTube channel criticised Sethi, saying, "To accommodate one person, Sethi to be precise, they had to change the entire constitution (of the PCB). I have not seen this anywhere in the world. It has been done in the middle of a season, when teams are visiting Pakistan. They have changed the chief selector, who had played Test cricket. At 2 am in the night, he (Sethi) tweets that Ramiz Raja is gone. This is my playing field. It hurts."

He also claimed that Najam Sethi, who now heads Pakistan Cricket, has never picked a bat in his life. Ramiz further added that what happened to him really shows how the management treats its former players.

"It has been made out as if a messiah (Sethi) has come, who will take the game to new heights. We know what he is up to. He wants limelight at any cost. He has nothing to do with cricket, and has never lifted a bat. They have changed me midway. In the middle of the season, they are bringing Micky Arthur. Saqlain Mushtaq's tenure was ending anyway in January. Saqlain has played over 50 (49) Tests, he is a legend. This is no way to treat the cricketers," Raja had said.

In reply to Ramiz’s remarks and the language used by him for Najam Sethi, the PCB had earlier released a statement, saying, "The Pakistan Cricket Board has expressed its disappointment over the comments made and language used by former Chairman Mr Ramiz Raja against Chairman of the PCB Management Committee Mr Najam Sethi on a social media platform and in a TV interview." It added, "The PCB believes former Chairman Mr Raja's comments are aimed at tarnishing and damaging the impeccable reputation of present Chairman Mr Sethi, adding it reserves it's rights to pursue legal proceedings to protect and defend the image and credibility of its Chairman and the institution."

Wasim lashes out at Ramiz, again!

Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja have been teammates in the past and even won the 1992 World Cup together, but that doesn’t mean that both highly reputed former cricketers get along well off the pitch.

In his autobiography, Sultan: A Memoir, Wasim Akram mentioned about Ramiz Raja saying he used to field in the slips, despite not being good at it, because of the rank system in the team. As per that system, Raja was considered superior because his father was a police commissioner and he had also attended Aitchison College - one of the top boarding schools in Pakistan.

To explain this, Wasim even used an anecdote from one Pakistan vs New Zealand match in his book, saying, "I was in my fourth over when John Wright, New Zealand's captain, nicked to Ramiz at the second slip. Ramiz was at slip for reasons of rank, because his father was a commissioner and because he'd attended Aitchison College - he dropped more than he caught, frankly.”

Recently only, when asked about Ramiz’s tenure as PCB’s chief, Wasim said, He (Raja) came here for six days, and now he’s back to where he belongs."

Meanwhile, commenting on Najam Sethi’s return to the board, the veteran bowler added, "Najam Sethi has the experience, and it’s no concept that only cricketers should be the PCB chairman. You need to be a good administrator, and you need to be a good communicator apart from having a good reputation among other boards. Najam Sethi sahab is the best in that. People can disagree for all I care. It’s my opinion."

ALSO READ: PCB threatens legal action against former chief Ramiz Raja over glaring remarks on Najam Sethi Ramiz Raja vs Najam Sethi Soon after he got removed from his position as the PCB chief, Ramiz on his YouTube channel criticised Sethi, saying, "To accommodate one person, Sethi to be precise, they had to change the entire constitution (of the PCB). I have not seen this anywhere in the world. It has been done in the middle of a season, when teams are visiting Pakistan. They have changed the chief selector, who had played Test cricket. At 2 am in the night, he (Sethi) tweets that Ramiz Raja is gone. This is my playing field. It hurts." He also claimed that Najam Sethi, who now heads Pakistan Cricket, has never picked a bat in his life. In reply to Ramiz’s remarks and the language used by him for Najam Sethi, the PCB had earlier released a statement, saying, "The Pakistan Cricket Board has expressed its disappointment over the comments made and language used by former Chairman Mr Ramiz Raja against Chairman of the PCB Management Committee Mr Najam Sethi on a social media platform and in a TV interview." It added, "The PCB believes former Chairman Mr Raja's comments are aimed at tarnishing and damaging the impeccable reputation of present Chairman Mr Sethi, adding it reserves it's rights to pursue legal proceedings to protect and defend the image and credibility of its Chairman and the institution." ALSO READ: IND vs NZ: Hardik Pandya slams Lucknow pitch, calls it a 'shocker' following series-leveling win Wasim lashes out at Ramiz, again! Ramiz was at slip for reasons of rank, because his father was a commissioner and because he'd attended Aitchison College - he dropped more than he caught, frankly.” Recently only, when asked about Ramiz’s tenure as PCB’s chief, Wasim said, He (Raja) came here for six days, and now he’s back to where he belongs." Meanwhile, commenting on Najam Sethi’s return to the board, the veteran bowler added, "Najam Sethi has the experience, and it’s no concept that only cricketers should be the PCB chairman. You need to be a good administrator, and you need to be a good communicator apart from having a good reputation among other boards. Najam Sethi sahab is the best in that. People can disagree for all I care. It’s my opinion."

Wasim Akram vs Ramiz Raja vs Najam Sethi - who said what and to whom?

Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram has slammed Ramiz Raja who was recently sacked from his position as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Akram referred to Raja as being a 'kid' who came to operate cricket but was forced back to his original place.

"He came for six days, now he is back to his original place. Najam Sethi has experience. I think it is a wrong concept, that cricketers should be the chairman of PCB. It is an administrative job, so you need to have proper communication with all the boards. Najam Sethi is the right man for the job. I don’t care if people get angry," Akram told Cricket Pakistan.

The speedster recalled the instance when Raja, rather petulantly, issued threats to the BCCI for not agreeing to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

"Najam Sethi gave a very sensible answer. It all depends on approval from both governments. You have to talk properly with boards. This is not gully cricket, that if you don’t come, we also will not go to your country. I don’t understand who are these kids, who come and run cricket in Pakistan."

This is not the first time that Akram has taken a dig at his former teammate. In his autobiography titled, "Sultan: A Memoir", Akram said Raja benefitted on the field due to his father's reputation.

Akram recalled a Test match against New Zealand where Raja received preferential treatment because his father was a police commissioner.

“The first over the next day was delivered by Asif Faridi, a local quick; I was thrown the new ball for the second. I was in my fourth over when John Wright, New Zealand's captain, nicked to Ramiz at second slip. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has come in support of their captain Babar Azam after he was falsely accused of 'sexting' with the girlfriend of another Pakistani cricketer.

"As our media partner, you might have considered ignoring such unsubstantiated personal allegations which Babar Azam has not deemed worthy of a response," tweeted PCB while quote tweeting Foxsports which published an article on the controversy.

The false allegations were first posted by a parody Twitter account named Dr Nimo Yadav which, incidentally had a Twitter blue verified account.

PCB comes in defence of Babar Azam after bizarre sexting allegations

Pakistan lost to New Zealand by 79 runs in the second and penultimate ODI, in Karachi, as the Black Caps levelled the three-match series with the finale on Friday (January 13). After dismissing NZ for 261, after they were comfortably placed at 183 for 1, Babar Azam & Co. were bundled out for a paltry 182 in 43 overs to lose by a handsome margin.

From Pakistan's perspective, only captain Babar got going on a pitch conducive for spinners. He, however, scored 79 off 114 balls with a strike rate of 69.30. The right-hander came out to bat in the third over and was dismissed in the 43rd over and many slammed him for his slow knock and termed him selfish. While some feel he put pressure on others, many also defended him as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals from the other end. Amid all this, former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal has slammed Babar's critics.

"If Babar Azam is selfish, then we need two to three additional such players in the team. Babar Azam is a good player and any negative aspect of his game can be rectified," Ajmal was quoted as saying by India Today.

Ajmal also opened up on split captaincy, which is being talked about a lot in Pakistan cricket after their dismal run in home Tests in 2022. In this regard, he suggested, "There is no need for separate captains in all three formats. If they still want to do it, then they should only opt for separate captains in white and red-ball cricket."

If he is selfish, then Pakistan needs two to three such players: Saeed Ajmal slams Babar Azam's critics

After a disappointing run in Tests in 2022, Pakistan have started their 2023 season with the second and final Test versus New Zealand in Karachi. The series opener ended in a draw, where New Zealand got a healthy first-innings lead and dominated the game, whereas the final encounter is also heading towards a draw.

For quite sometime, Pakistan have been poor in Tests and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have been strongly criticised for producing poor surfaces, favouring only the batters. It was evident in the Pakistan-Australia series and also the case in the England series. As a result, Pakistan bowlers couldn't impress and their batters fell behind as compared to their counterparts' free-flowing approach. Pakistan lost 1-0 to Australia and suffered their first-ever Test series whitewash with Ben Stokes & Co. hammering them 3-0.

As the New Zealand series has also been a sluggish affair, with pitches being flat as ever, former Kiwi cricketer Simon Doull made a glaring remark. He asked if such pitches are demanded by captain Babar Azam for him to improve his numbers in Tests.

"Where does that directive come from? Does that come from Babar who wants to bat on a road and improve his own stats?" Doull questioned. "Does it come from above him?" the co-commentator responded.

'Does the directive come from Babar Azam?': Simon Doull's glaring remark on Pakistan pitches during 2nd Test

Pakistan cricket is going through a lot in recent times. Recently, Ramiz Raja was ousted as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief. The former Pakistan captain took over the post in September 2021 but was severely criticised for the dead pitches Pakistan offered in home Tests, the national side's inability to win Asia Cup and T20 World Cups (in 2021 and 2022) and all hell broke loose following Babar Azam & Co.'s 3-0 whitewash over England on home soil in December 2022.

Following his stint, with Najam Sethi succeeding him, ex-PCB chief Ramiz has opened up on several decisions he took during his tenure. At first, Ramiz had removed the then head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis right before the 2021 T20 WC, in the UAE. Reflecting on his decision, Ramiz recently stated that he doesn't regret this call and felt the need to remove them during his commentary stints. He further mentioned that they were given full payments for two years and respected fully.

“They received their full payments for two years. They were given full respect. As a chairman, it was my right to dismiss them. Even now, they are talking about removing Saqlain Mushtaq and replacing him with Mickey Arthur. I made contracts in such a way that I didn't want the board to be left with a coaching setup for three years,” Raja told Samaa TV.

Ramiz added, "We had yearly contracts. They (Misbah and Waqar) would've left in January/February anyway. We brought a new management. It wasn't easy for me. I've played with Waqar, I talked to him in detail. The CEO talked to Misbah. It obviously didn't look good that the change took place with a week or 10 days before the T20 World Cup. But I had an idea that we could only go to a certain extent with them. When I used to do commentary, I realised that a change was necessary."

'It was my right...': Ex-PCB chief Ramiz Raja opens up on Misbah, Waqar sacking before 2021 T20 WC

In a step to encourage fans to come and watch Test cricket live inside the stadium, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced free entry for all the fans for the second Test between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Cricket Stadium in Karachi, starting January 2nd. During the drawn first Test at the same venue, the PCB failed to attract crowd as most of the stands remained empty throughout the game.

Now for the second Test, the board has given fans the leverage to come and sit wherever they want – be it in the premium or even first-class stands. While the cricket lovers can only enter inside the stadium if they bring their original CNIC or B-form.

Addressing the same, PCB said in a statement, "The spectators are only required to bring either their original CNIC or B-form to enter the stadium and they will be able to watch the action free of cost from any of the premium (Imran Khan, Quaid, Wasim Akram and Zaheer Abbas), first class (Asif Iqbal, Waqar Hassan and Majid Khan) and general enclosures (Muhammad Brothers and Intikhab Alam)."

Besides it was also mentioned that no eatables or drinks will be allowed to carry.

As per the Dawn, the board has also approached schools and other educational institutions asking them to send children and youngsters to watch the second Test live at the National Stadium.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has struggled to put up applaudable performances in Tests at home this year. After losing to Australia early this year, Pakistan was whitewashed by the touring England team (3-0). Against the Kiwis in the first Test, Babar Azam-led side struggled to dominate once again as they narrowly escaped yet another loss on the home soil.

Given the next Test will take place next year in 2023, Pakistan team and its fans will be hoping for an improved performance.

PAK vs NZ 2023: Free entry for fans for the 2nd Test in Karachi - PCB

Ramiz Raja was recently removed as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman. His stint was a controversial one with New Zealand withdrawing from their tour of Pakistan in September 2021 just before the tour opener, whereas England cricket team also followed suit. While Australia toured and England also followed suit, with the Kiwis currently in Pakistan for two Tests and three ODIs, Team Pakistan also had a mixed run -- ending second in Asia Cup and T20 World Cup 2022 -- before losing their first-ever Test series on home soil (against England).

Following the England Tests, Ramiz was ousted as the PCB chief. During his tenure, he spoke a lot against Indian cricket and often slammed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). All hell broke loose when Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed that India won't travel to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup and the continental tournament will be held at a neutral venue.

In reply, Ramiz slammed the BCCI and also went onto claim that Pakistan won't travel to India for the ODI World Cup, later next year, if the Asia Cup is moved out of Pakistan.

Speaking on Duniya News, the 60-year-old Ramiz has once again lashed out at the BCCI. He has urged the new PCB management to not fulfil each and every demand of the BCCI and show some leadership, which he claims was evident during his stint.

He said, "One positive from my stint as a chairman was that I provided leadership. If you remember, New Zealand had left, and we told them that what you did was unfair. The England team refused to come; we spoke with them, following which they played 7 T20Is instead of 5, two extra. The ECB staff visited Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium; they came to my office and apologised. Similarly, Australia also visited."

"What is leadership? Kya hum har cheez unki mante jayenge?" (Are we servants of India just because they are a world power in cricket? Should we listen to everything they say?)," Ramiz questioned.

The former Pakistan captain further believes that Pakistan is moving in the right direction and the current crop of players, and fans, should be respected by everyone and no one has a right to move Asia Cup out of the country. Ramiz added, "The Pakistan cricket team is enjoying a great run; you have a good fan following; you have superstars, so please give your team and fans the respect they deserve. There should be a decision on the matter, as the tournament was given to Pakistan, so how can it be shifted to a neutral venue without consulting us or the ACC members."

'Are we servants of India just because they are a world power?' - Ramiz Raja slams BCCI over Asia Cup 2023 row

A lot of changes have taken place in Pakistan cricket in recent times. Ramiz Raja, the former Pakistan captain, was recently sacked as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)'s chief with Najam Sethi taking over. Moreover, Shahid Afridi was named the interim chief selector with Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum joining him on the panel as well. In addition, a lot has been said about Babar Azam as a Test captain but he remains the full-time skipper as of now.

Ramiz's tenure came to a sudden end after Pakistan lost their first-ever Test series on home soil, with England drubbing them 3-0. A lot has been said and written about his stint as the PCB chief. Recently, Ramiz blasted Najam Sethi and criticised the functioning of the PCB and once again took a shot at Indian cricket while pointing out the achievements of the national side in his tenure.

“We gave outstanding performances in white-ball cricket. We played the Asia Cup final, India didn't play that. India, a billion-dollar industry, was left behind. Tod phod hui, unhone apna chief selector, selection committee fire kar di, captain badal diye, kyunki unko hazam nahi hua ki Pakistan unse kaise aage nikal gaya. (They fired their chief selector, selection committee, changed the captain because they couldn't digest how Pakistan went ahead of them),” Ramiz told Suno TV.

Further, Ramiz talked about being sacked as PCB chairman and said, “This is just like France firing their entire board even after they played in the FIFA World Cup final.”

The former Pakistan star also revealed that he empowered Babar Azam at all times and ensured his best performances as leader of the side. "I tried my level best to keep this team united. I empowered Babar Azam. Cricket is one of those rare sports where captaincy is relevant. If your captain is powerful, results will come, and we have given results,” Ramiz concluded.

At present, PCB has threatened legal action against Ramiz over his outbursts on his successor Najam Sethi. Thus, there is a lot happening in Pakistan cricket amid the national side's ongoing home Tests versus New Zealand.

'They couldn't digest how Pakistan....': Former PCB chief Ramiz Raja again takes a dig at India

Ramiz Raja was sacked as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief soon after Pakistan were whitewashed in their home Tests versus England. Ramiz, who took over in September 2021, had a mixed run as the PCB chairman and has now been succeeded by Najam Sethi, who has earlier held the post. After his sudden ouster from the top post, the former Pakistan captain hasn't taken his unceremonious exit very well and lashed out at his successor.

After the end of his stint as the PCB chief, Ramiz is back on his Youtube channel and recently conducted a Q/A session with his subscribers, where he severely criticised Najam. "To accommodate one person, Sethi to be precise, they had to change the entire constitution (of the PCB). I have not seen this anywhere in the world. It has been done in the middle of a season, when teams are visiting Pakistan. They have changed the chief selector, who had played Test cricket. At 2 am in the night, he (Sethi) tweets that Ramiz Raja is gone. This is my playing field. It hurts," he said on his channel.

Rami highlighted that Mickey Arthur may return as the Pakistan head coach and claimed, "It has been made out as if a messiah (Sethi) has come, who will take the game to new heights. We know what he is up to. He wants limelight at any cost. He has nothing to do with cricket, and has never lifted a bat. They have changed me midway. In the middle of the season they are bringing Micky Arthur. Saqlain Mushtaq's tenure was ending anyway in January. Saqlain has played over 50 (49) Tests, he is a legend. This is no way to treat the cricketers."

There has been a lot of unrest in Pakistan cricket of late. Given the team has not been able to perform as per expectations in big events and at home, Ramiz has been shown the door and the onus is now on Sethi. It will be interesting to see if he responds to Ramiz's allegations or not in the coming future.

'He wants limelight, has nothing to do...': Ramiz Raja on Najam Sethi after being sacked as PCB chairman

Shortly after Pakistan was whitewashed in their three-match home Test series versus England, Ramiz Raja was sacked as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief. Ramiz's tenure was expected to come to an end soon after Imran Khan, Pakistan's World Cup-winning skipper, resigned as the country's Prime Minister in April, however, the ex-captain held onto the post for a longer period.

Nonetheless, all hell broke loose for Ramiz after England thrashed Pakistan at home. His tenure as the PCB chairman was marred with controversies and he was often slammed for further deteriorating the cricketing relations between India and Pakistan with his continuous rant against the arch-rivals. Ramiz's criticism of Indian cricket increased ever since the BCCI made it official that Team India won't travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 and will shift the event to a neutral venue. To this, Ramiz had revealed that Pakistan also won't travel to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup if India boycott the Asia Cup in Pakistan.

The 60-year-old Ramiz has now opened up on why he was pained by India so much during his stint as the PCB chief. "I have got great regard for Indian cricket fans. I have enjoyed my stay in India over the years. Cricket breaks boundaries. I have received a lot of love from India as a commentator and as a cricketer. India thought Asia Cup cannot happen in Pakistan. India withdrew from Asia Cup without any discussion which was painful. I took a strong stance on this issue as a chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board," the former skipper said on his YouTube channel.

Earlier, Ramiz had made a big claim after BCCI's take on next year's Asia Cup. "If Pakistan doesn't take part in the World Cup scheduled in India next year, who will watch it? We have a clear stand: If the Indian team comes here then we will go for the World Cup. If they don't come then they can play the World Cup without us," Raja told Urdu News in November.

Thus, it remains to be seen what the future will look like for two mega events set to be held next year; i.e. the 2023 Asia Cup and ODI WC. However, Ramiz's rant against India didn't help the cause and even led to his sacking. He has now been replaced by Najam Sethi.

Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi is appointed as the new interim head of men's national selection committee by the PCB for the upcoming New Zealand series. After Mohammad Wasim-led panel was sacked following the shocking clean-sweep loss to England in Tests at home, Pakistan Cricket Board handed the responsibility to Afridi and his three-member team for one series for now.

Against the Kiwis, Pakistan will play two Tests (part of the WTC cycle) and three ODIs (part of World Cup Super League), starting in Karachi on December 26th.

Najam Sethi, who also got appointed as the new chairman of PCB following England series, replacing Ramiz Raja, threw his trust behind Afridi-led panel for making bold calls. "I remain confident that through his insight and knowledge of the game, he will help Pakistan select the best and most deserving players, and contribute in the side's success in the upcoming series," the new PCB chairman said.

Afridi, who had led Pakistan in the past across formats knows what it takes to win games and showcase authority. Upon getting this chance, the ex-captain thanked the PCB management and urged everyone working alongside him and on the project to have one aim in mind - help Pakistan cricket revive and win matches.

Babar Azam-led Pakistan were whitewashed in the recently-held home Test series versus England. While they had their moments in the opening two matches, Pakistan lost the final Test by eight wickets in Karachi. It became the first instance where Pakistan suffered a Test series whitewash on home soil and, hence, many have lashed out at captain Babar.

Sikander Bakht, former Pakistan pacer who represented the national side in 26 Tests and 27 ODIs, has now slammed Babar for his clueless captaincy. "Our captain doesn't know how to lead the side. He selects the team. I noted in this Test that he picked Salman Agha as a batsman, whereas he is actually an all-rounder. Stokes used Joe Root as a part-time bowler in this series, and our captain simply forgets everything," Bakht said on GEO Super. "He didn't give Iftikhar an over in three consecutive games, then gave him all four overs in an important match," he further opined.

After the England Tests, Pakistan are very much out of contention for a place in the ICC World Test Championship final. Also read: Ramiz Raja sacked as PCB chief after Pakistan's home Tests vs England, replacement named: Reports Bakht added, "This is a very big issue. We have to seriously consider whether Babar even deserves the captaincy or not. Rizwan is also an issue for us. And our issues are only increasing." After the England Tests, Pakistan are very much out of contention for a place in the ICC World Test Championship final. They will next face New Zealand at home in a two-match Test series, starting on December 26. Amid the growing criticism over his captaincy, Babar will be desperate to stand tall and revive his team's fortunes.

'Our captain doesn't know....': Ex-Pakistan pacer lashes out at Babar Azam after England whitewash

In the aftermath of Pakistan's home Test series loss versus England, Ramiz Raja has been sacked as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief. There were reports of the former Pakistan captain set to be removed from the top post. On Wednesday (December 21), it is believed that Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif gave his nod to the appointment of Najam Sethi as the new PCB chairman. It is to be noted that Ramiz had secured the post in September 2021.

Raja, who was nominated directly for the post on August 27, 2021 by the then Pakistan's PM Imran Khan, is only the fourth Test cricketer to don the chairman's hat after Ijaz Butt, Javed Burki and Abdul Hafeez Kardar. It was Raja's second stint as the PCB chief, having held the post earlier from 2003 to 2004. Talking about Ramiz's second tenure, it was full of ups and downs. During his tenure, Pakistan achieved a glorious high of finally managing to beat arch-rivals India in the 2021 T20 World Cup, in the UAE. Further, the senior men's team entered the semi-finals of the last year's T20 WC, ended as runners-up in the Asia Cup 2022 and recently-held T20 WC in Australia. However, the team saw a huge dip by losing the home Tests and only T20I versus Australia, early this year, before being whitewashed for the first time in whites on their home soil in the just-concluded England Tests. In addition, they lost the seven-match T20I series versus the Three Lions ahead of this yea's T20 WC.

Najam Sethi, on the other hand, has already served as the PCB chief before. He gave his resignation in mid-2018 and was succeeded by Ehsan Mani, who was later replaced by Ramiz Raja after he quit in August 2021. Najam, hence, has a tough ask in hand to resurrect Team Pakistan -- at all levels -- and promote domestic cricket in the country, with many questioning the current crop of batters. Several questions have also been raised on Babar following Pakistan's dismal home run recently. It will be interesting to see if more changes are in store.

India and Pakistan locked horns in the 2021 T20 World Cup after a long gap, following the 2019 ODI World Cup. While the head-to-head record favoured India, the then Virat Kohli-led Indian team fell flat against the Babar Azam-led Pakistan line-up. Being asked to bat first, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, Kohli & Co. managed a modest 151 for 7, after being 31 for 3 at one stage, and didn't put up any sort of fight while defending the total. As a result, skipper Babar and Md Rizwan's unbeaten 152-run opening stand took the Men in Green to their first-ever World Cup win over their arch-rivals.

Rizwan, in an interview with Sky Sports Cricket, recalled his side's epic win over Team India last year. He revealed how the Pakistan fans responded to the win and went all-out in their love and admiration for the national side. "When we won against India, that time, I thought it was only a match for me. It was because we won that game easily. But when I came to Pakistan, I realised how much it meant. Whenever I went to a shop, they won't take money from me. They would say, 'you go, you go. I won't take money from you!'" Rizwan said. "People would say, 'everything is free for you here. This is the love from all of Pakistan after that match," he added.

Rizwan (79 not out) and Babar (68 not out) were the top performers with the bat but Shaheen Afridi set it up for his side with an impressive 3 for 31 with the ball.

'Whenever I went to shop...': Rizwan on Pakistan fans' response after win over India in 2021 T20 WC

Pakistan, under Babar Azam, reached the T20 World Cup 2022 final but lost to eventual winners England at the MCG, Melbourne last month. Their campaign was a topsy-turvy affair as the Men in Green lost their opening two games only to win four in a row and make the final. It was a young squad which impressed many, however, there was a lot of talk regarding the squad which didn't have veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik.

Malik was part of the 2021 T20 World Cup campaign, in the UAE, and did come up with some valuable contributions. However, the 40-year-old last played for the Men in Green during the Bangladesh T20Is, in Mirpur, and has been out of favour since then. After his T20 WC omission, he had shared a cryptic tweet saying, "When will we come out from friendship, liking & disliking culture. Allah always helps the honest."

A month after the T20 WC final, Malik has opened up on his omission and credited skipper Babar Azam foer being vocal about his non-selection. He said on Cricket Pakistan, "Mujhe nahi pata inside news kya hai, lekin Babar ne mujhe Asia Cup me bola tha ki World Cup me ye hi team jaayegi. Uski side se sab communicate hota raha, vo mere se achhe terms pe hai. Main usko apna chhota bhai samajhta hu, uski grooming ya help out karne me, ya jab bhi usko discuss karni hai cheezein, main hamesha se vahan hu aur rahunga. (I don't know what's the inside news, but Babar Azam informed me during the 2022 Asia Cup that the same team will be part of the upcoming T20 WC in Australia. He was in constant communication and remains on good terms with me. I consider him my younger brother. I'm always ready to help him out whenever needed)."

Further, the former Pakistan captain Malik asserted that he does not hold a grudge against Babar and only wants him to grow as a player. “Main aisa nahi hu ki agar main kisi vajah se team me nahi aaya, toh main naaraz ho jau ya muh bana lu. Main aisa bilkul nahi hu. Main karunga bhi nahi aisa. Meri duaa hai uske saath, main chahta hu vo grow kare aur Pakistan team ko, aur uski performances ko top of the table rakhe. (I don't hold a grudge against Babar. I'm certainly not like that. I want him to grow and help Pakistan be on top),” he added.

At present, the Babar-led Pakistan line-up is involved in the second and penultimate Test versus England in Multan. The home side lost the Rawalpindi Test by 74 runs in what was a high-scoring affair. Pakistan will hope to level the series and go on to win it with ICC World Test Championship final ticket up for grabs.

Former Pakistan cricket team captain Wasim Akram has taken another dig at his compatriots from back in the day. In his autobiography titled, "Sultan: A Memoir", Akram dubbed Rashid Latif a 'lobbyist' while addressing Aamir Sohail as a 'zombie figure'.

In an excerpt from the book, Akram recounted an incident from 2000 when Latif went to give an interview to a UK newspaper. "The lobbyists were at work. In July 2000, Rashid Latif gave an interview to The Sunday Telegraph in which he claimed to have been offered £15,000 to ensure Pakistan were bowled out for under 300 in the 1996 Lord's Test," wrote Akram in the book. "And who knows? Maybe he had. But had he told me, his captain, at the time? No. Had he reported it to his coach or manager? No. Had he told Qayyum? No. Amazingly, these stories only ever came out when he wanted attention." Similarly, Akram took a shot at former Pakistan opener Aamir Sohail who coincidentally was a key member of the Pakistan outfit that won the 1992 World Cup. "I was publicly reinstated as captain for the DMC Trophy in Toronto. The clamour for change was satisfied by a new coach, Wasim Raja, and new selectors: Wasim's brother Ramiz, Naushad Ali and Abdur Raquib. They recalled, after his tireless lobbying, the zombie figure of Aamir Sohail," wrote Akram. Akram's other revelations This is not the first time that explosive revelations have come out of Akram's book. In a previously released excerpt, Akram said that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja benefitted on the field due to his father's reputation. Akram recalled a Test match against New Zealand where the PCB boss received preferential treatment because his father was a police commissioner. “The first over the next day was delivered by Asif Faridi, a local quick; I was thrown the new ball for the second. I was in my fourth over when John Wright, New Zealand's captain, nicked to Ramiz at second slip. For all his batting kill, Ramiz was at slip for reasons of rank, because his father was a commissioner and because he'd attended Aitchison College," Akram wrote in the book. Read more: 'Ramiz Raja was at slip due to his father's rank': Wasim Akram makes another bombshell claim Akram revealed that his former captain Saleem Malik took advantage of his junior status. Babar Azam-led Pakistan lost the three-match Test series opener versus England in Rawalpindi on Monday (December 05). From the word go, England impressed one and all with their all-out approach and were rewarded with a stunning 74-run win in the fag end of the final day. Opting to bat first, Ben Stokes & Co. posted 657 all-out in 101 overs and gained a 78-run lead after Pakistan were dismissed for 579 in their first essay.

In their second innings, England slammed 264/7 in 35.5 overs to set up a challenging 343-run target for the home side. In reply, Pakistan were 259 for 5 but soon reduced to 268 all-out to lose by 74 runs. After the match, ex-Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has slammed Babar Azam and Ramiz Raja-led PCB.

On his Youtube channel, Kaneria said, "Abhi hamari management ake baat karegi, Babar Azam baat karenge, PCB k head baat karenge 'acchi cricket kheli England ne, hume unse seekhna chaie. Toh seekho na. Kab seekhoge? Time Guzar jayega. (Now our management will come out and talk, Babar Azam and the PCB chief Ramiz Raja will say 'England played well and we should learn from them'. When will you learn? It's already too late)."

Further, Kaneria opined, "They might blame Shaheen Afridi’s absence for the loss. If he’s not available, then dusre achar bechne aaye thhe? (Did other bowlers come to sell pickles?) Where are the planning and strategy, where is the reverse swing?"

"We only talk about the revival of international cricket in Pakistan. Pura din wahi manjan chal raha hota hai (The same discussion continues throughout the course of the day). Pakistan were clueless. Babar Azam should learn from Ben Stokes’ captaincy. Coaches around the world should also learn from Brendon McCullum. Their team doesn’t fear loss, but ours does."

'Did others come to sell pickles?': Ex-Pak spinner takes a dig at Shaheen-less pace attack after 1st Test loss

Pakistan has produced some big names in world cricket, especially in the pace department. Shoaib Akhtar is one of the most popular names in the cricketing fraternity who helped Pakistan win several games with his pace and bounce. During his playing days, he troubled many batters and had intense face-offs with some iconic players such as Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Steve Waugh, etc.

Akhtar had an action-packed career, full of ups and downs, and ended with a total of 444 international wickets from 46 Tests, 163 ODIs and 15 T20Is. He remains vocal on various aspects of the game to date and recently made a big claim.

Speaking to The Guardian, the 47-year-old asked the interviewer when he was the happiest in life. After getting response from the journo who said, "Erm, I’m not sure. The birth of my child?", Akhtar replied, "Right, increase that by a thousand and it’ll be somewhere near what it feels like to bowl truly fast. If you get a wicket after all that effort, when the ball hits the stumps, the sound of it goes inside your soul and explodes like an atom bomb. That’s true happiness. Every time I turn on the TV, I say: ‘Is there anyone out there who can step up? Please take this record away from me,’ I’ll be the first to fly out and shake them by the hand." He added, "Had I been the fittest guy, I would’ve been the greatest ever."

'Had I been the fittest guy, I would’ve...': Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar makes big claim

Big revelations continue to tumble out of former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram's soon-to-be-released autobiography titled, "Sultan: A Memoir". In the latest excerpt from the book, the speedster said that the current chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and his teammate Ramiz Raja benefitted on the field due to his father's reputation.

Akram recalled a Test match against New Zealand where Raja received preferential treatment because his father was a police commissioner. However, despite receiving the benefit, Raja's performance was not up to par.

“The first over the next day was delivered by Asif Faridi, a local quick; I was thrown the new ball for the second. 'Ramiz Raja was at slip due to his father's rank': Wasim Akram makes another bombshell claim

In what comes as a shocking development, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to probe “match-fixing allegations” with regard to the home Test series against Babar Azam-led Pakistan that was held in July. This has come forward only two weeks after the opposition member of the Sri Lankan parliament Nalin Bandara had made such an allegation for the home series that ended in a 1-1 stalemate. The match under the scanner is the series opener, where Pakistan rode on opener Abdullah Shafique's 160 to chase down 342 with four wickets in hand.

A statement from SCL said, "The executive committee of SLC decided today to invite Mr Alex Marshall, the General Manager of the ICC anti corruption unit to Sri Lanka to investigate recent allegations of match fixing made by a parliamentarian regarding the recently concluded Pakistan tour."

It further added, “Sri Lanka Cricket, as a full member of the ICC and mandated to uphold the integrity of the game at both the national and international level, believes that it is the correct course of action to take in light of the recent allegations made by the aforementioned parliamentarian, which have caused immense reputational damage to Sri Lanka Cricket and its stakeholders."

The Pakistan-Sri Lanka series took place amid the economical crisis in the Island nation, which involved months of political unrest, power and fuel shortage across the nation. Babar & Co. had won the two-match Test series opener, in Galle, whereas Dimuth Karunaratne-led Lankan side levelled the series with a whopping 246-run win in the second and final Test, which was also shifted from Colombo to Galle.

As per a report in Cricbuzz, the ICC would not comment on the anti-corruption matters but it will send an Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) official to carry out the investigation.

ICC to investigate match-fixing allegations in Sri Lanka vs Pakistan Galle Test in July

Babar Azam-led Pakistan lost to England in the T20 World Cup 2022 final on November 13 at the iconic MCG, Melbourne. Being asked to bat first, the 2009 winners only managed a paltry 137 for 8 with Sam Curran (3 for 12), Adil Rashid and Chris Jodran shining with the ball for Jos Buttler & Co. In reply, Pakistan pacers tested the English batting line-up but Ben Stokes' 49-ball 52 not out took the 2010 winners past the finish line as they won their second T20 WC title.

After the defeat, many former cricketers have praised Babar & Co. for reaching the final whereas some have also criticised them for failing to win the finale. Amid all this, Pakistan great Javed Miandad shared his take on the presence of foreign players in the dressing room and stated that it leads to uncertainty over the future of certain players; leading to match-fixing incidents. It is to be noted that Matthew Hayden served as the team mentor whereas Shaun Tait was roped in as the bowling coach.

Dwelling on this, Miandad said, "Laao na inko, inse ham log question karenge. Poochein toh sahi ham bhi, batao cricket ke baare me. (Get them to the studio, we will also ask them questions. We are eager to know what they know about cricket)."

Everyone was scared that their career will be over)."

Hayden had also served as the batting consultant for Team Pakistan in the 2021 T20 WC whereas South Africa's former pacer Vernon Philander was also part of the coaching staff during the last year's edition, in the UAE.

It wil be interesting to see if any of these foreign players react to Miandad's views.

'Fixing happened because of...': Javed Miandad makes glaring remark after Pakistan's T20 WC final loss

Kamran Akmal has landed himself in huge trouble. The veteran keeper-batter's recent remarks on Babar Azam-led Pakistan, following their T20 World Cup 2022 final loss to England, has not been received well as he has been given a legal notice by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja. It is to be noted that it isn't still clear as to which comment of Akmal has hurt the former Pakistan captain Raja but the board's chairman has taken a strict action and issued a warning to other former cricketers too.

"I don't know exactly what charges they have made against Kamran but apparently the legal notice has been sent because the chairman feels Kamran made defamatory, false and offensive comments in the media about him," a source close to the developments told PTI.

It is reported that more such legal notices will be sent to other former players who often cross their line, on their respective Youtube channels, while criticising the national side's performances.

"Some of them clearly cross the line while criticising the team, management, board and chairman and Ramiz has made it clear he is not going to tolerate anyone running down or defaming Pakistan cricket anymore,” the source further added.

Over the years, the likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Danish Kaneria, Salman Butt, etc. remain vocal on various aspects pertaining to Pakistan cricket and do not mince their words when commenting on the team's performances. However, it seems PCB is in no mood to take all this lightly anymore and will take stern actions if any comment is deemed defamatory, offensive, personal, false and damaging to Pakistan cricket.

Pakistan beat New Zealand by seven wickets to enter the T20 World Cup 2022 final on Wednesday (November 09) at the SCG, Sydney. After losing their opening two games, including one against Zimbabwe, the Babar Azam-led Men in Green were trolled extensively and many had predicted their campaign to end in the Super 12 round itself.

While Pakistan beat the Netherlands and South Africa in their next two encounters, the Dutch's shocking win over the Proteas opened the doors for a semi-final entry for the 2009 winners. They pounced on the opportunity and beat Bangladesh in their last league stage tie, which was a must-win clash for them, to enter the semis and defeated Kane Williamson-led Black Caps convincingly.

Riding on Shaheen Afridi's two-fer, fifties from Babar Azam and Md Rizwan, Pakistan chased down a modest 153 in 19.1 overs, with seven wickets in hand, to enter their third T20 WC final. After their miraculous turnaround, PCB chairman and former skipper Ramiz Raja reacted on Twitter and said, "A perfect 10! Very few teams in world cricket would have risen to the occasion like Pakistan did today. Melbourne here we come again".

After Pakistan's win over Bangladesh in their last league stage encounter in the T20 World Cup, the Babar Azam-led Men in Green entered the semi-finals of the mega event in Australia. Having a topsy-turvy ride, the 2009 winners finally made it to the knockouts and will now face 2021 runners-up New Zealand in the first semi-final, on Wednesday (November 09) at the SCG, Sydney.

Post the five-wicket win over Bangladesh, Pakistan Cricket's official handle shared few dressing room videos for fans. While the videos have become an instant hit on the social media platform, former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram isn't impressed and has asked for such team talks to not be shared online.

"If I was Babar, I would get hold of that guy who is making a video. Sometimes, certain things are personal. I am all for social media, players interacting with their fans and everything. But I have not seen any other team do it in this World Cup? So yeah, the urge to get extra numbers (followers, likes), cut it down. This is too much," Akram said on A-Sports.

"There are recordings taking place all the time. Imagine if I am sitting and not knowing that someone is recording - a message that I want to give my team. Just tell him, 'Guys, relax for two days. Do it some other place but not dressing room," he further pointed out.

Do it some other place but not dressing room," he further pointed out. 🗣️ Skipper @babarazam258 speaks to his team after Pakistan qualify for the #T20WorldCup semifinals 🔊#WeHaveWeWill pic.twitter.com/CkmpJCj6o3 — Pakistan Cricket (@TheRealPCB) November 6, 2022 × 🗣️ Encouraging words from 🇵🇰 team mentor Matthew Hayden following the win over Bangladesh that sealed our spot in the semi-finals 🔊#WeHaveWeWill | #T20WorldCup pic.twitter.com/OgolOwGfGs — Pakistan Cricket (@TheRealPCB) November 6, 2022 × ALSO READ | He hasn't given me confidence: Kapil Dev names star Indian player whose hasn't impressed him so far in T20 WC On the other hand, Akram's former teammate and bowling great Waqar Younis also joined in and mentioned, "I 100 percent agree with you. Babar Azam-led Men in Green didn't waste the opportunity presented with SA's elimination and went on to beat Bangladesh by five wickets in an intense battle at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on Sunday afternoon. After this win, Pakistan will now face 2021 runners-up New Zealand in the first semi-final at the SCG, Sydney on Wednesday (November 09). After their entry into the semis, team mentor Matthew Hayden shared an inspiring speech for Babar-led Pakistan and issued a warning to other teams. Speaking in a video posted by PCB, Hayden said, "There was that kind of thinking that potentially it was going to be a different result but the moment that Pakistan cricket fires off with intent and starts to reveal its teeth, they become a real threat. There will be no one in this world, in this competition that would want to face us right now, Not One! They thought that they got rid of us. Now, they're not going to get rid of us."
