The Oscars 2023 was being hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the third time and was being held at Dolby Theatres in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Kimmel arrived on the Oscars stage on a parachute in reference to Best Picture nominee Top Gun: Maverick, also the highest-grossing film of 2022.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Guillermo del Toro’s <em>Pinocchio</em> and&nbsp;Ke Huy Quan were the early winners of the night. Quan took home the Best Supporting Actor award for&nbsp;<em>Everything Everywhere All at Once </em>while<em> Pinocchio </em>won the Best Animated feature award. Ruth Carter won the Best Costume award for Marvel's <em>Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.</em></p>

<p>The Oscars 2023 was also special for India as two of its films picked up Oscar awards.<em> The Elephant Whisperers </em>won the Best Documentary Short Oscar while the global hit song<em> Naatu Naatu </em>from<em> RRR&nbsp;</em>won the Best Original Song Oscar.<em> </em>The song was performed live on stage and was presented by Indian actress Deepika Padukone. Both the awards were firsts for any Indian film.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Oscars also saw Michelle Yeoh becoming the first Asian actress to win a Best Actress Oscar. She won for her performance in<em> Everything Everywhere All At Once. </em>Brendan Fraser took home the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in<em> The Whale.&nbsp;</em></p>

However, each year there are always a few snubs and surprises that leave audiences scratching their heads. The 95th Oscars ceremony held this year was no exception, with some highly acclaimed films and performances left out of the nominations, while some lesser-known works managed to make the cut. <h2>All that Breathes: Snub</h2>

<p>Shaunak Sen's superbly shot, affecting documentary All that Breathes, featuring the story of two Muslim brothers taking upon themselves to rescue and care for New Delhi's black kites, was snubbed in favour of Daniel Roher's Navalny. A well-made documentary, no doubt, but All that Breathes was arguably head and shoulders above any contender in the category.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>All Quiet on the Western Front: Surpise</h2>

<p>The German anti-war movie based on Erich Maria Remarque's 1929 novel of the same name emerged as a surprise winner in four categories. Its most surprising victory, I feel, was in the production design category. It can be said that in that particular category Babylon, Elvis, and The Fabelmans deserved the award more, but All Quiet on the Western Front was no slouch either.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>The Batman: Snub</h2>

<p>I am of the opinion that The Batman was not even nominated in the Best Original Score category because it is a superhero movie. Roger Deakins agrees. But the movie should have taken the Best Sound Oscar. For the simple fact that it had the best sound effects for any movie. Though, Top Gun: Maverick, which did take the trophy, was not far behind.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Jamie Lee Curtis: Surprise</h2>

<p>Jamie Lee Curtis was quite fantastic as a dry, bored tax auditor in Everything Everywhere All at Once, though it looked like Angela Bassett (for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) or Kerry Condon (from The Banshees of Inisherin) might beat her.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Colin Farrell: Snub</h2>

<p>Nobody can argue that Brendan Fraser was great in The Whale. But it has to be admitted that that fat suit did the heavy-lifting. It was Colin Farrell who deserved the award for his understated performance in The Banshees of Inisherin. He was incredible in the role, eminently watchable even when there are no words in the scene.</p>

Indian film The Elephant Whisperers triumphs at Oscars 2023, wins Best Documentary Short

<p><strong>Ashley Graham and Hugh Grant:&nbsp;</strong>The Oscars have returned a year after "The Slap" dominated social media, and this year's most talked-about moment may have occurred before the show even began. Sunday afternoon, social media was up in flames with reactions to what could only be described as an extremely awkward interview between host Ashley Graham and actor Hugh Grant, as Grant repeatedly gave blunt, annoyed answers to Graham's questions.</p>

<p>Graham began the interview on a sour note when he asked Grant, a "veteran" of the Academy Awards, what his favourite part of the Oscars was. Grant reined and waffled before remarking that the event was "vanity fair," which Graham appeared to interpret as a reference to the Vanity Fair afterparty.</p>

<p>"Anybody, you're excited to see win, do you have your hopes up for anyone?" Graham asked.</p>

<p>"No, no one in particular," Grant responded.</p>

<p>When asked what he was wearing, Grant responded, "Just my suit."</p>

<p>Viewers immediately noticed Grant's demeanour and praised Graham's determination to keep the interview professional despite his curt answers.</p>

<p>Grant was seen rolling his eyes at the end of the awkward interview, prompting one viewer to describe the star as "a total a – – hole."</p>

<p>"So tell me, what does it feel like to be in Glass Onion? It was such an amazing film, I really loved it. I love a thriller. How fun is it to shoot something like that?" Graham asked the actor further.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In response, Grant replied, "Well, I’m barely in it. I’m in it for about three seconds,” to which Graham noted, "Yeah, but still, you showed up, and you had fun right?"</p>

<p>Hollywood celebrities spent the night before the Oscar Awards chatting with fellow A-listers and&nbsp;sipping martinis at the storied Polo Lounge in The Beverly Hills Hotel for the annual Chanel and Charles Finch dinner party, an invite that is even harder to fetch than a seat at the Academy Awards.</p>
