Britain`s Prince Harry and his American wife Meghan have called on Americans to register to vote in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, entering into political territory where British royals traditionally do not venture.

In a video for 2020 Time 100, the US magazine`s list of the world`s most influential people, the couple said people who were able to cast their vote, should do so.

Harry and Meghan now live in California, having stepped down from their senior royal roles in March.

"Every four years we are told the same thing that this is the most important election of our lifetime," Meghan said.

"But this one is. When we vote, our values are put into action and our voices are heard, your voice is a reminder that you matter, because you do, and you deserve to be heard."

Meghan, who married Queen Elizabeth`s grandson in 2018, criticized US President Donald Trump during his 2016 election campaign as being misogynistic and divisive.

Last year, Trump, on being told of Meghan`s criticism, said: "I didn`t know that. What can I say? I didn`t know that she was nasty."

Under Britain`s unwritten constitution, the royal family are expected to remain politically neutral and do not vote in elections. The queen, 94, has rarely strayed into current affairs issues during her 68-year reign.

"This election, I`m not going to be able to vote in the U.S., but many of you may not know that I haven`t been able to vote in the UK my entire life," Harry said in the video. "As we approach this November, it`s vital that we reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity."

While Harry did not endorse Trump`s opponent, Democrat challenger Joe Biden, his comments led to criticism he was interfering in politics.
Britain`s Prince Harry and his American wife Meghan have called on Americans to register to vote in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, entering into political territory where British royals traditionally do not venture.

When we vote, our values are put into action and our voices are heard, your voice is a reminder that you matter, because you do, and you deserve to be heard." Meghan, who married Queen Elizabeth`s grandson in 2018, criticized US President Donald Trump during his 2016 election campaign as being misogynistic and divisive. Last year, Trump, on being told of Meghan`s criticism, said: "I didn`t know that. What can I say? I didn`t know that she was nasty." Under Britain`s unwritten constitution, the royal family are expected to remain politically neutral and do not vote in elections. The queen, 94, has rarely strayed into current affairs issues during her 68-year reign. "This election, I`m not going to be able to vote in the U.S., but many of you may not know that I haven`t been able to vote in the UK my entire life," Harry said in the video. "As we approach this November, it`s vital that we reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity." While Harry did not endorse Trump`s opponent, Democrat challenger Joe Biden, his comments led to criticism he was interfering in politics. "Prince Harry poking his woke nose into the U.S. election & effectively telling Americans to vote against President Trump is completely unacceptable behaviour for a member of the Royal Family," Piers Morgan, a former CNN television host and now a British breakfast show presenter, wrote on Twitter.

The former royals joined hands with Baby2Baby, a nonprofit organization that provides supplies, diapers, and clothes to underprivileged children. Meghan and Harry were dressed in a casual white shirt, shorts, and sneakers and for precaution, they both were seen wearing masks. The couple was snapped while they were handing over the supplies through the windows of their vehicle. "We were thrilled and overwhelmed at the support," Founders and co-presidents Norah Weinstein told the news agency. "We believe that the fact that the Duchess is from Los Angeles was what prompted her to highlight L.A., where Baby2Baby is based. We felt particularly grateful that she was highlighting an American organization."
Prince Charles will reportedly foot majority of the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's security bill amid their move to America.
Prince Harry is taking a stand for his wife Meghan Markle against the media. According to E-News, the Duke of Sussex issued a statement over British media`s "ruthless" campaign against Markle. Also, there are speculations that the royals are taking legal action over releasing a private letter penned by Duchess of Sussex.

"As a couple, we believe in media freedom and objective, truthful reporting. We regard it as a cornerstone of democracy and in the current state of the world - on every level - we have never needed responsible media more," read the statement by the Duke of Sussex."Unfortunately, my wife has become one of the latest victims of a British tabloid press that wages campaigns against individuals with no thought to the consequences - a ruthless campaign that has escalated over the past year, throughout her pregnancy and while raising our newborn son."

"There is a human cost to this relentless propaganda, specifically when it is knowingly false and malicious, and though we have continued to put on a brave face - as so many of you can relate to - I cannot begin to describe how painful it has been. Because in today`s digital age, press fabrications are repurposed as truth across the globe. One day`s coverage is no longer tomorrow`s chip-paper," the Duke of Sussex`s statement continued.

"Up to now, we have been unable to correct the continual misrepresentations - something that these select media outlets have been aware of and have therefore exploited on a daily and sometimes hourly basis."

"It is for this reason we are taking legal action, a process that has been many months in the making. The positive coverage of the past week from these same publications exposes the double standards of this specific press pack that has vilified her almost daily for the past nine months; they have been able to create lie after lie at her expense simply because she has not been visible while on maternity leave. She is the same woman she was a year ago on our wedding day, just as she is the same woman you`ve seen on this Africa tour," continued the statement.

"For these select media, this is a game and one that we have been unwilling to play from the start. I have been a silent witness to her private suffering for too long. To stand back and do nothing would be contrary to everything we believe in," Harry stated."This particular legal action hinges on one incident in a long and disturbing pattern of behaviour by British tabloid media. The contents of a private letter were published unlawfully in an intentionally destructive manner to manipulate you, the reader, and further the divisive agenda of the media group in question. In addition to their unlawful publication of this private document, they purposely misled you by strategically omitting select paragraphs, specific sentences, and even singular words to mask the lies they had perpetuated for over a year."

"There comes a point when the only thing to do is to stand up to this behaviour because it destroys people and destroys lives. Put simply, it is bullying, which scares and silences people. We all know this isn`t acceptable, at any level. We won`t and can`t believe in a world where there is no accountability for this," Harry noted.

"Through this action may not be the safe one, it is the right one. Because my deepest fear is history repeating itself" he said. Harry then gave the example of the death of his mother, Princess Diana and stated, "I`ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditised to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person. I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces."

The Duke of Sussex`s statement concluded, "We thank you, the public, for your continued support. It is hugely appreciated. Although it may not seem like it, we really need it."

"We have initiated legal proceedings against the Mail on Sunday, and its parent company Associated Newspapers, over the intrusive and unlawful publication of a private letter written by the Duchess of Sussex, which is part of a campaign by this media group to publish false and deliberately derogatory stories about her, as well as her husband. Given the refusal of Associated Newspapers to resolve this issue satisfactorily, we have issued proceedings to redress this breach of privacy, infringement of copyright and the aforementioned media agenda," said the legal representative of the Duchess of Sussex from Schillings.

The royal couple is privately funding this case."The Mail on Sunday stands by the story it published and will be defending this case vigorously. Specifically, we categorically deny that the Duchess` letter was edited in any way that changed its meaning," a spokesperson for The Mail on Sunday (local time) told E-News.

Lost my mother, now my wife is falling victim to same powerful force: Prince Harry takes legal action against British press for bullying Meghan Markle

Nearly a year back, Meghan Markle made headlines for a minor royal gaffe and now her husband Prince Harry is following her footsteps by breaking the same tradition.

Contrary to usual practice, the Duke of Sussex closed his own car door while attending the fifth anniversary of the Invictus Games.

As per the rules, the 34-year-old was supposed to let a member of the royal household open and shut the door for him, as it has been the tradition since the invention of cars and carriages.

Royal observers were vigorously protesting over the Duke of Sussex flouting royal traditions, especially in the wake of the controversy surrounding him and his wife. However, fans of the royal couple are hailing the gesture as a sign of Harry`s "humble" nature.

Meghan and Harry have been under intense scrutiny for a while now. Most recently, the pair drew flak after they took a trip to France on Elton John`s private jet. The royal couple was criticised because, just a week prior, Harry claimed that they would only have two kids in order to conserve the resources the earth still has."I`ve always thought: this place is borrowed. And, surely, being as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation," he said.

The statement was termed as hypocritical since flying in a private jet is very harmful to the environment. However, Elton claimed that it was necessary to maintain "a high level of much-needed protection" for Meghan, Harry and their son Archie Harrison.

Meghan`s A-list friends, including Ellen DeGeneres, also defended their decision to ditch commercial flights."Imagine being attacked for everything you do, when all you`re trying to do is make the world better," Ellen shared.

Later this month, Meghan and Harry will be jetting off for their first royal tour as a family of three. The royal couple will take Archie to Cape Tape Town, South Africa, on September 23.

Although there`s no confirmation as for when the royal fans can expect to see their son, the first scheduled stop of the pair`s visit is to a township. They will leave their little son, who was born on May 6, with his nanny as they start the official first leg of the tour.

Elton — Elton John (@eltonofficial) August 19, 2019 × He added that he was "deeply distressed by (the) distorted and malicious account in the press" around their Nice visit last week. In separate remarks, US talk show host DeGeneres said on Twitter she had met and talked with Harry and Meghan in England about their work on wildlife conservation. "They were the most down-to-earth, compassionate people. Imagine being attacked for everything you do, when all you`re trying to do is make the world better," she wrote. Harry and Meghan`s wedding in May 2018 was marked by an outpouring of affection in Britain but less than a year later the couple have found themselves on the receiving end of a barrage of negative stories in the media. They have ranged from the $3 million cost of renovating their new home to reports dubbing Meghan 'Duchess Difficult.' While much reporting by the British press on the royal family is respectful, verging on the sycophantic, at other times it can be harshly critical, even cruel. The couple have not publicly responded to the various attacks on them.

Elton John blasts relentless character assassination of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle`s guest-editing position for the September issue of the iconic fashion magazine British Vogue is already in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

The news of Meghan turning editor and changing the magazine`s usual fashion-forward focus to something deeper was met with delight by most people but now the former `Suits` actor is being accused of copying the cover from a 2016 book.

Shortly after the September issue was released, fans pointed out a number of similarities the magazine`s cover seemed to have with Australian authors Samantha Brett and Steph Adams` bestselling book titled `The Game Changers`, which Meghan also contributed to in 2016. Brett and Adams told the outlet that the similarities between their book and magazine are "flattering" but "disappointing."
"It`s obviously very flattering, she must like our concept! I love Meghan and am a huge fan, but it is a little bit disappointing," Brett said of the cover which shows the faces of various women considered `Forces for Change` and placed in separate boxes.

"But any project that aims to support the empowerment of women, I am a great supporter of. Our book was for charity -- so hopefully they too are giving the proceeds to a worthy cause," she added. While it`s not clear if the cover choice was the Duchess` idea, the 16th still, a mirror, was suggested by her to inspire readers to be their own `forces for change`, according to the Daily Mail.

Brett told Fox News that `The Game Changers` was first released with a black and white cover in November 2016, of which Meghan was one of the contributors along with 40 other celebrities and change-makers.The book sold out in a few weeks as word travelled and it was well-received by the readers.

Markle also faced criticism for not making the issue an inclusive one as many pointed out that the magazine celebrated only those women who Meghan felt were inspiring and did not represent too many people from Britain including Queen Elizabeth II.

Brett noted that the book was then re-released with more women in 2017 featuring a pink cover and has since become a bestseller.
Adams echoed similar sentiments about the September issue cover, being put towards a good cause, but said she could see Meghan achieving the same impact as `The Game Changers` if she had written a book of her own, complete with powerful interviews and testimonies she gathered on her own and given the money to a charity.

"The Duchess of Sussex is someone we all want to look up to, admire and respect," said Adams, a four-time author who published her first book three years ago.

"We love that she has ideas for change that are positive and that she is addressing issues such as diversity and kindness. But wouldn`t it have been more powerful if she just created a book and interviewed women and gave the money to charity," she added.

Brett and Adams, a co-authoring duo, have since released `The Juggle`, which debuted in April 2019 and features high-profile mothers juggling their careers and families. It`s unclear whether Brett or Adams are planning any further action at this time, or whether this will die down on its own.

Meghan Markle accused of copying magazine cover from book, authors call it 'disappointing'

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, who recently collaborated with British Vogue to unveil the September issue of the magazine, is still facing criticism.

There were several users on Twitter who wanted to know why Meghan had not included Queen Elizabeth II among her list of ladies (the magazine cover includes 15 brilliant female changemakers), or even a doctor or nurse, a teacher, lawyer.

Others wondered why the Duchess had skipped out on meeting US President Donald Trump during his recent state visit, citing her maternity leave as the reason for her absence.

Piers Morgan, who is known for hot take on the Duchess, slammed her and called her "shamelessly hypocritical for her super-woke Vogue stunt" in a scathing op-ed for the Daily Mail and as cited by E-News, lashing out at her "greatest hits of virtue-signalling" while she excluded the entire male population from the cover and promoted Brand Meghan rather than promoting Brand Britain.
The magazine, in the latest edition, previewed fashion for the upcoming fall/winter season.

This is the first time that a member of the British Royal family guest-edited the esteemed fashion book, and also anyone had been brought aboard to guest-edit the pivotal issue. And it is absolutely true that Meghan did her job in a great manner.

She took the opportunity to shift the magazine`s usual fashion-forward focus to something a bit deeper and titled the issue as "Forces for Change," placing women who had a laudable impact in recent times and who are set to reshape society in radical and positive ways in the future.
The Duchess even turned down the opportunity to appear on the cover herself--"In the end, she felt that it would be in some ways a `boastful` thing to do for this particular project," Edward Enninful, British Vogue`s Editor-in-Chief, said--she, instead, put the spotlight on "the women she admires," including Yara Shahidi, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, and climate change campaigner and student Greta Thunberg, among many others.

Meghan Markle faces backlash over British Vogue collaboration

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex has opted out of the British royal family`s meeting with United States President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, who are scheduled to visit the United Kingdom in early June.

Queen Elizabeth II will be hosting Trump and his wife on their three-day visit in June. This will be the first official state visit of the US president to the UK.
In the capital, Harry is scheduled to have a private lunch with the US president and William and Kate will have tea with Trump on his second day in the country.William and Kate will also join Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, and Trump for a welcome ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Markle definitely won`t make an appearance at any of these events, media reports state.

During all these engagements, Meghan, who just gave birth a couple of weeks ago, will likely be hanging out at Frogmore Cottage with her newborn son, Archie enjoying the peace and privacy of her maternity leave.

However, the Duchess has not made any statement about it so far, and she probably isn`t upset about missing this because she`s definitely not a Trump fan.
According to reports, before joining the royal family, Markle, a proud feminist, had made her stance on Trump clear during the US presidential elections in 2016.

Describing Trump`s politics as "misogynistic" and "divisive", Markle also spoke of her support for his presidential opponent at the time, Hillary Clinton.
Appearing on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore three years ago, Meghan said, "It`s really the moment I go; we film Suits in Toronto and I might just stay in Canada... Trump is divisive, think about female voters alone, right?"

"I think it was in 2012, the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points; that is a huge number and with as misogynistic as Trump is, and so vocal about it...Trump has made it easy to see that you don`t really want that kind of world that he`s painting," she added.

Meghan Markle opts out of meeting with Donald Trump during his UK state visit

A fashion blogger from New York, Sharon Joan, perfectly recreates the designer wardrobes donned by Meghan Markle for a fraction of the price.

Joan, 37, started her Instagram account, @royallyinspired, to help other Markle and Kate Middleton fans to find designer outfits worn by the duchesses, or at least close replicas, Insider reported.

There is no denying to the fact that the Duchess of Sussex has become a global style icon, with even Vogue editor Anna Wintour calling her fashion choices "inspiring", but it is unlikely for an average person to afford Markle`s pricier outfits.

It has been recently estimated that Markle`s pregnancy wardrobe alone cost an estimated USD 630,000.

Joan, a financial director from New York, creates her own royal-inspired wardrobe by scouring eBay and Poshmark for second-hand items.

She also finds low-cost alternatives on the high street and looks for designer pieces worn by the Duchesses when they are on sale.

"You need to be both patient and persistent in the pursuit of royal clothes," Joan told Insider.

"Sometimes it can take years before you find the actual piece you want, but you shouldn`t give up hope," she was quoted as saying.

"If there is something you want, don`t stop looking for it. Keep searching online, keep popping into stores, just keep your eyes open. Don`t forget to check for sales -- sometimes super expensive designer pieces are dramatically discounted," she added.

Joan further stressed that customers should try online discount stores before even looking at the designer retailers.

"The dream goal, of course, is to find a piece that has been worn by Kate or Meghan and the seller doesn't realise it," Joan said.

"Given the proliferation of social media and all the images that are shared there, this is now harder and harder to come by. It happened to me recently, when Meghan wore a striped Equipment Femme sweater in Morocco. I found the exact one on eBay for USD 59.99, which was pretty exciting!" she added.

Although Joan admits she started her Instagram blog as a "fun pastime," the hobby has grown to be much more meaningful.

''As a person, she seems really strong, focused, and committed to the ideals she believes in. I love how confident and vocal she is about her beliefs and how she continues to prioritise girl`s and women`s issues, something she has supported long before she met Harry," Joan said.
