U.S. and Canadian ticket sales crushed the most optimistic projections from last week, when analysts deemed $200 million a long shot. "No Way Home" finished just behind "Avengers: Endgame" and "Avengers: Infinity War" and ahead of the Star Wars film "The Force Awakens." 
 
Cinemark said ticket sales for "No Way Home" were especially strong in the United States and Latin America and on large-format screens. 
 
Holland offered gratitude to fans. "Thank you thank you thank you and if you haven’t seen Spider-Man no way home yet ... merry Christmas and you know what to do," he wrote on Instagram. 
 
The fact that the film concluded a popular trilogy added to its appeal, said Jeff Bock, senior media analyst at Exhibitor Relations Co, and many fans wanted to see the new installment on the opening weekend before they read spoilers on social media.

The series opens with Barton visiting New York City with his three kids just before Christmas and watching an Avengers musical. &nbsp;Renner plays a doting father in the series which he feels is his character’s biggest strength.&nbsp;

Managing losses is part of the superhero game, and the lightness and brightness that Hailee's character brings in it kind of counteracts that and levels out some. So, it's pretty cathartic, and I think quite beautiful."

Talking about the lawsuit and all the statements that were fired from both the sides, Johansson said, "I feel mostly very fortunate that nobody will have to go through what I went through and that it’s made, I think, a positive impact in the industry and hopefully for artists and creatives’ lives and livelihood.” She went on to add that she was hopeful that fighting for the proper compensation would allow for a wider conversation about the talent's deal within the streaming war; hoping that her suit would have a long-lasting impact, saying, “It’s an evolving time where there’s this huge sea change happening, and as my daughter [Rose] told me the other day, you can’t make an omelet without breaking some eggs."

Scarlett Johansson is working on 'top secret' Marvel project after feud over 'Black Widow'

When Jeremy Renner has the time — a commodity that is in short supply for him lately — he sometimes thinks about why film and TV creators like to cast him as hardened, emotionally wrung-out men in need of redemption.

Setting aside his Academy Award-nominated performances in tense dramas like “The Hurt Locker” and “The Town,” Renner suspected that his tendency to be hired for what he called “coiled-spring characters” probably has something to do with his distinctively rugged countenance.

“I don’t have a Disney face,” he said, letting loose with a raspy laugh. Contemplating himself from a distance, he continued: “That guy, he’s got some experience in his life. He’s got some hardships. There are murderous qualities in that resting face of his.”

That being said, “Can I also do a Disney film?” he added. “Hell yeah, I can do a Disney film. I’m not the king of darkness here.”

Audiences can see that duality on display this month when Renner — who has not played a continuing TV role in more than a decade — stars in two very different streaming series, debuting 10 days apart.

Last Sunday, Renner was introduced as Mike McLusky, the disconsolate protagonist of “Mayor of Kingstown,” a new Paramount+ series from the “Yellowstone” co-creator Taylor Sheridan, about the interconnected lives in a fictional Michigan city centered on a prison.

Not so long ago, legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese had compared Marvel superhero films to amusement parks-sans any depth. Guess, Marvel took that seriously as it presents the most nuanced superhero film in its history with 'Eternals'. 
 
Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao takes pages out of history and weaves an&nbsp;intricate story that spans over centuries. Zhao (who has also written the screenplay) and writers Patrick Burleigh, Ryan Firpo and Kaz Firpo make important chapters of history come alive as the narrative keeps going back and forth and establish Eternals as the most powerful, and the oldest beings in the universe.

At the onset, the story is simple. For over five&nbsp;thousand years, a bunch of immortal beings known as the Eternals have been saving the world and various civilisations across the world from a predator type called the Deviant. Ajak operates on the orders of the Celestial Arishem-their creator as well as the creator of all beings in the universe. In the present day, they are all spread across the world. Someone works in a museum in London, one is a Bollywood star, one a cult, a leader in Amazon and one a happy gay dad in America. But they all have to come together once again when one of them does mysteriously and a new and more aggressive form of Deviants are on the loose posing a threat to humanity. Some are reluctant to join as the end of the world seems close. There are also internal conflicts within the Eternals as they struggle to find a footing with their new leader Sersei (Gemma Chan) who herself isn't sure why she is the newly chosen leader instead of the mighty powerful Ikaris (Richard Madden).&nbsp;

Amid such a crisis, the Eternals need to rise up to the occasion and act fast if they need to save planet Earth from destruction.

'Eternals' is not your regular superhero film. You will often miss the Avengers (you have been warned) while watching. It doesn't have the glitz and glamour of Marvels most popular superheroes. Instead, MCU takes a giant leap of faith and presents newer heroes who come with their own set of problems some of which are very complicated. It's no children play anymore for Marvel as Eternals are far more superior in might, power and intellect than the Avengers. Naturally, the adrenaline rush of watching Eternals takes a while to come when compared to previous superhero films from MCU. &nbsp;But that is a good thing.&nbsp; 
 
At 155 minutes, Eternals takes time to establish the plot and the thrill is only in the second half. That's when the real action begins. So you don't find yourself rooting for any superhero much. There is no obvious favourite either.&nbsp;

What Eternals instead does is present a story that addresses climate change, overpopulation, ecological imbalance and much more. It makes you think.&nbsp; 
 
Eternals also has many firsts for a Marvel film. It has Marvel's first sex scene, a gay kiss, a deaf and mute superhero, and even a South Asian superhero disguising as a Bollywood hero and even acknowledges mental health. Marvel takes the inclusivity conversation to an all-new level-it's of course not always accurate but hey, it's a start.&nbsp;

Don't expect 'Eternals' to be a thrilling ride like your ordinary Marvel films. It takes time to grow on you and makes you think. With a non-linear narrative, it may pose as a tedious watch but 'Eternals' is far more superior in storytelling that what Marvel has ever attempted.

Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao takes pages out of history and weaves an intricate story that spans over centuries. Zhao (who has also written the screenplay) and writers Patrick Burleigh, Ryan Firpo and Kaz Firpo make important chapters of history come alive as the narrative keeps going back and forth and establish Eternals as the most powerful, and the oldest beings in the universe. At the onset, the story is simple. For over five thousand years, a bunch of immortal beings known as the Eternals have been saving the world and various civilisations across the world from a predator type called the Deviant. The Eternals, 10 of them have been led by their leader of sorts Ajak(Salma Hayk) have so far been able to save humanity from the crisis. Ajak operates on the orders of the Celestial Arishem-their creator as well as the creator of all beings in the universe. Someone works in a museum in London, one is a Bollywood star, one a cult, a leader in Amazon and one a happy gay dad in America. But they all have to come together once again when one of them does mysteriously and a new and more aggressive form of Deviants are on the loose posing a threat to humanity. Some are reluctant to join as the end of the world seems close. There are also internal conflicts within the Eternals as they struggle to find a footing with their new leader Sersei (Gemma Chan) who herself isn't sure why she is the newly chosen leader instead of the mighty powerful Ikaris (Richard Madden). 'Eternals' is not your regular superhero film. You will often miss the Avengers (you have been warned) while watching. It doesn't have the glitz and glamour of Marvels most popular superheroes. Instead, MCU takes a giant leap of faith and presents newer heroes who come with their own set of problems some of which are very complicated. It's no children play anymore for Marvel as Eternals are far more superior in might, power and intellect than the Avengers. Naturally, the adrenaline rush of watching Eternals takes a while to come when compared to previous superhero films from MCU. But that is a good thing. At 155 minutes, Eternals takes time to establish the plot and the thrill is only in the second half. That's when the real action begins. So you don't find yourself rooting for any superhero much. There is no obvious favourite either. It makes you think. Eternals also has many firsts for a Marvel film. It has Marvel's first sex scene, a gay kiss, a deaf and mute superhero, and even a South Asian superhero disguising as a Bollywood hero and even acknowledges mental health. Marvel takes the inclusivity conversation to an all-new level-it's of course not always accurate but hey, it's a start. While some call it brave and a big step, many others feel that the film 'Eternals' was a misfire from Marvel. But we can’t be too soon in coming to conclusions as the worldwide release of the movie has just begun. However, what’s disappointing is the early reviews on Rotten Tomatoes (considered a credible source of movie ratings). At the website, Eternals has a rating just a bit above Iron Man 2 and stands on one of the lowest rankings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe filmography.&nbsp;

As per the portal Rotten Tomatoes, which takes into consideration both the critic reviews and audience reactions, ‘Eternals’ is at 75% with some over 50 reviews and counting. Lower than these from MCU are ‘Thor: Dark World’ with 66% and ‘The Incredible Hulk’ with 67%.&nbsp;

Will Poulter has been cast in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 as Adam Warlock in Marvel's anticipated sequel. The character was first teased in a post-credit scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 when Ayesha, played by Elizabeth Debicki, unveils to her chambermaid the perfect Sovereign she has created to help destroy the Guardians once and for all. Ever since that scene, fans have waited patiently to see who would ultimately play that character.

Feige also mentioned the addition of Tony Leung Chiu-Wai to the film ."We at Marvel have been lucky to have worked with a lot of famous actors, people you could call living legends (but) none of them are as impressive or hit that term legend as much as Tony. He had never been to a Hollywood set before. I live in Los Angeles, sometimes you see other actors around, but Tony was just this mythical figure only in these amazing movies. Meeting him personally, which I only did briefly before the shutdown, was incredible. Wenwu is a new character. 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' to release in India on this date

One thing Marvel knows how to do is expand a story. Think back to the nascent days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the early 2000s. The so-called phase one was about building out the superhero roster with individual film narratives that would dovetail into a big crossover movie: “The Avengers.” A decade and a half later, the crossovers are old hat, the Easter eggs are expected, and a spate of new movies and TV shows continue to provide an influx of stories and characters that branch off into their own universes.

You could even say the MCU resembles a branching timeline; that’s what a member of the Time Variant Authority, or TVA, the bureaucracy at the center of the Disney+ series “Loki,” would say. Because for all the interdimensional fun the series has, “Loki,” which wrapped up last week, is a philosophical dialogue that also functions as a metacommentary on Marvel’s storytelling. The show’s central theme about the value of order versus chaos reflects how the MCU, as it expands across Disney+ and beyond, alternatively presents and breaks from contained, linear narratives and rote character types.

Although Loki (Tom Hiddleston), the sometime nemesis and sometime ally of the Avengers, was killed by Thanos in “Avengers: Infinity War,” the Asgardian now appears — resurrected! — in his own series. But it’s only a resurrection in a branding sense: The series centers on an earlier version of Loki, one who escapes the Battle of New York, from the first “Avengers” film, with the all-powerful glow-box (known as the Tesseract). His escape with the Tesseract causes a branch in the timeline, an offense that gets him first arrested by the TVA and then recruited by one of the group’s agents, Mobius (Owen Wilson), to help catch a female “variant” Loki (Sophia Di Martino) who has been disregarding the rules of &lt;em&gt;other&lt;/em&gt; timelines. In an inspired, if awkward, Freudian twist, the two Lokis fall for each other and team up to dismantle the TVA before eventually finding themselves at odds.

From the beginning, “Loki” was an odd addition to the MCU because it, like the recent “Black Widow” film, tried retroactively to give a back story and growth to a character who was already dead in the central MCU timeline. More intriguing, it repositioned a character who had been an antagonist and a foil to Avengers like his adopted brother, the Norse golden boy Thor, as the hero of his own story, one that undermined what we had already seen happen in the franchise.

By making another version of Loki a hero, the series itself is acting as a variant. In general, Marvel has been using its latest Disney+ shows to deviate from the often wearying, even oppressive, timeline that the films have established. These side stories open up the world to more subtle, interesting narratives: “WandaVision” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” allowed their heroes to develop in terms of both superhero abilities and emotional depth.

But whatever their divergences, these stories always end up leashed to the main MCU narrative: Marvel’s own inviolable timeline, which often yields an awkward result. “WandaVision” used its classic TV parodies to cleverly explore the contours of grief and emotional escapism until its “Avengers” adjacency apparently demanded a requisite explosive ending. Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (the Winter Soldier) wrestled with trauma and its consequences, but the specter of Captain America and the question of whether Sam would ultimately take up the shield took over the story in the end.

In “Loki,” the Asgardian discovers that everything is predestined, even his identity. Loki is supposed to be a villain, and he is supposed to lose. There are no other options. “Loki” is a fun touch of chaos for Loki fans, myself included, but it makes me wonder how much longer the relative order of the MCU franchise’s central chronology can sustain the backpedaling and jumps and reversals, even within their own pockets of time. The vast megaverse that is Marvel already hosts countless characters and stories, and yet having one in which Loki is still alive is infinitely more fun.

But as delightful as “Loki” is conceptually, to me it felt like simply a fun, diverting experiment. What Marvel will do with the results of this experiment is another story. This season’s cliffhanger ending means that the full measure of the series’s success and impact is still to come, whether in the second season promised in the finale or in the broader MCU.

Is “Loki” truly a variant within the MCU? Will it introduce reverberations throughout the films and TV shows going forward, or will it be essentially isolated in its own playful thought bubble? If the former, I suspect Marvel won’t be able to sustain the full heft of the master narrative, with all of those branches, forever — that is, unless Marvel fully embraces chaos and lets the MCU fracture into separate multiverses without such a restrictive overarching timeline. After all, if the god of mischief has taught us anything, it’s that a little bit of chaos can go a long way.

The latter two are reprising their respective Marvel movie roles of sneaky tough guy Nick Fury and Talos, a shape-shifting alien from a species named the Skrulls.

The studio has kept the plot details of the show a secret. In the comics, however, Secret Invasion revealed that Skrulls had infiltrated human society, and that some of Earth’s superheroes had been replaced by Skrulls years earlier.

The series is expected to shoot in Europe later this year.&nbsp;
