A remake of multiple Hollywood high school dramas, SOTY was a long dragged affair that&nbsp;felt out of place even when it had released in 2012. Thank god, it had Alia Bhatt though, who in due course of time became the force that she is now.&nbsp;<br />

Johar's attempt at the genre did not create an impression - as much as the other shorts in the anthology did and the story fell to the usual Johar stereotypes and did not provide the thrills&nbsp;required in the horror story.&nbsp;</p>

Neena Gupta, Mrunal and Angad have brought to life this simple, hilarious tale in the most charming way possible. Having partners like Netflix, RSVP and Flying Unicorn trust me to create a film for this reputed anthology has been immensely gratifying. I hope it's a story that will resonate with people”</p>

<p>Shah Rukh Khan was one of guests of honour at the opening ceremony of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah on Thursday night. The actor was part of a huge lineup of stars from across the world who descended for the opening ceremony of the festival which also included Kajol, AR Rahman, Sharon Stone, Priyanka Chopra, and Lucy Hale, and others.&nbsp;<br />

While the festival was a starry affair, a video clip of Khan getting introduced by the host during the inaugural ceremony is going viral. Not for Khan as such but for Hollywood legend Sharon Stone who was seated next to him.&nbsp;<br />

The host reportedly walked towards Khan, who was seated with other dignitaries and said, "Gentleman at the back. Did someone tell you that you look like Shah Rukh Khan?” To which the actor stood up smiled and bowed to the cheering audience. The clip shows Stone suddenly realising who she is seated next to, and saying 'oh my god' in surprise and applauding the actor. The shock and surprise on her face is&nbsp;evident.&nbsp;<br />

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 397 members of the Global Film Community to join the Oscar Committee. Amongst the class of 2022 are many famous personalities from India. Bollywood Actor Kajol, South Indian Actor Suriya and film maker, writer Reema Kagti are amongst the 396 invited.

The list of new members was announced by the Academy on Tuesday. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences organises the Oscar awards annually.&nbsp;<br />

Other Indians who have received the invitation this year include documentary filmmakers Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas whose film 'Writing with Fire' fetched a nomination at the Oscars earlier this year. Instead of sharing her photo, the mother-of-two shared a photo of her daughter Nysa Devgan.&nbsp;<br />

In the caption, Kajol wrote: "Tested positive and I really don't want anyone to see my Rudolph nose so let's just stick to the sweetest smile in the world!"&nbsp; Further, she added that she misses her daughter: "Miss you Nysa Devgan and yes I can see the eye roll!"&nbsp;</p>

A mother, who wants to have a thriving career will always falter at home, have a difficult relationship with her children and may also have loose morals. The child will always have a resentment growing up, seeing the mother busy at her work- unable to devote time. Renuka Shahane's directorial debut 'Tribhanga' is set on similar lines with the resentment and anger passing down to two generations.&nbsp;<br />

A story of three generations in a family, 'Tribhanga' has at the core film actress Anuradha (Kajol) and her troubled relationship with her mother, celebrated author Nayantara Apte (Tanvi Azmi). As Nayan suffers a brain stroke and slips into a coma, her family- daughter Anu, son Robindro (Vaibhav Tatwawaadi), granddaughter Masha (Mithila Palkar) rush to her side. The dysfunctional family initially resent the presence of Nayan's biographer Milan's(Kunaal Roy Kapur) presence in the hospital, they slowly open up about their individual relationship with the matriarch, reminiscing about the old times, the issues they have had in with their mother all throughout.</p>

Nayan, the matriarch, is unapologetically ambitious. She has lived her life on her own terms and brought up her children as a single parent. Instead of admiring her achievements and resilient nature, her children Anu and Robindro have grown up to resent her. Anu is a celebrity in her own right, but temperamental, moody and foul-mouthed.</p>

<p>Anu's daughter Masha is calmer and submissive but has her own set of issues having grown up in a family that was devoid of any father figure. Its been a family of three women- two of whom are strong-headed and Masha, who is now married and pregnant, craves for a proper family of her own.&nbsp;</p>

A lot of the plot points are unnecessary and Shahane uses the men as the calming factors who serve as anchors to the firebrand women. Actors like Kunwaljeet Singh and Manav Gohil are totally wasted with limited screen time and their characters are not fleshed out well. Gohil in fact is never really introduced to the audience. His character is either Kajol's companion or a best friend- one isn't very clear and it is never explained.&nbsp;<br />

The film concentrates too much on Kajol's angst against her now ailing mother and meanders around her mostly. Mithila's story is told almost at the fag end of the film and seems so rushed.&nbsp;</p>
