It's the message you are communicating. It matters," Biden added. Group leader RM thanked the US president for signing recent legislation on combating COVID-19 hate crimes in the country. "We want to say thank you, sincerely, for your decision such as signing the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act into law. So we just want to be a little help and we truly appreciate the White House and government's (efforts) trying to find solutions," he added. Before the meeting with the president, BTS joined White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre at her briefing with reporters. Jimin said the band had been "devastated by the recent surge" of crime and intolerance against Asian Americans. "To put a stop to this and support the cause, we'd like to take this opportunity to voice ourselves once again," he said through an interpreter. <p>'KPOP,' a high-energy multimedia show about Korean pop stars, will transfer to Broadway this fall.</p>

<p>And at New York’s Korean Cultural Center on Wednesday, it was announced that K-pop star Luna will be making her Broadway debut as the star of the show.</p>

<p>“Anyone who has followed my career knows that musical theater has always been a driving passion of mine,” Luna said at the announcement. “Broadway represents the pinnacle of achievement in my profession, so being able to bring my culture to the fans who flock here from all over the world to see a Broadway show is the honor of my life.”</p>

<p>The musical, conceived by Woodshed Collective and Jason Kim, had an off-Broadway run in 2017 at A.R.T./New York, where it was an immersive performance piece that occupied two floors of a building in Hell’s Kitchen. Kim wrote the book, and music and lyrics are by Helen Park and Max Vernon.</p>

<p>“The world we explore in ‘KPOP’ is cutthroat, relentless in its pursuit of perfection, full of passionate, hugely ambitious artists, and ultimately a source of joy,” Park said Wednesday.</p>

<p>The show’s off-Broadway director, Teddy Bergman, and its choreographer, Jennifer Weber, will return for the Broadway production. Previews are to start Oct. 13 at the Circle in the Square Theater; opening night is set for Nov. 20.</p>

<p>Luna began her career in 2009 as the main vocalist and lead dancer of the K-pop girl group f(x) — one of the first groups to cross over into the United States — and went on to establish herself as a musical theater actress. In 2011, the singer, born Park Sun-young, starred as Elle Woods in the South Korean production of “Legally Blonde.”</p>

<p>The same year she also starred as Violet Sanford in a musical adaptation of “Coyote Ugly” in Seoul. Since then, she has had lead roles in “High School Musical on Stage!” (2013), “In the Heights” (2015-16) and “Mamma Mia!” (2019-20).</p>

<p>Now, she’ll be starring in “KPOP.” The producers say that the Broadway version of the show will tell the story of one singer’s internal struggle, which in turn threatens to dismantle one of the biggest labels in the industry. At the same time, a host of international superstars are risking it all for a one-night-only concert.</p>

<p>“For those of you who already know and love K-pop music, this show is going to remind you why you fell in love with it in the first place,” Luna said. “For those of you yet to discover K-pop, get ready. We are going to blow you away.”</p>

<p>The lead producers of the Broadway production of “KPOP” are Tim Forbes and Joey Parnes. The off-Broadway show, which had a sold-out run, was an Ars Nova production in collaboration with Ma-Yi Theater Company and Woodshed Collective.</p>

Company managing BTS keen to create a brand new K-Pop band

Sowon is part of<strong> K-pop girl band GFriend.</strong>&nbsp;<br />

The 25-year-old singer had posted the images of herself snuggling up to the Nazi-costumed dummy on her Instagram which faced severe criticism. The series of photos have Sowon striking different poses next to the mannequin. In one pic she can be seen closing her eyes and putting her head on the mannequin's shoulder, while the other captures her touching its face and smiling. The photos were eventually deleted after receiving flak.&nbsp;<br />

“We deeply apologize for the fact that our artist GFriend’s behind-the-scenes video … and the photo uploaded by member Sowon caused controversy,” Source Music said in a statement posted to Weverse, Big Hit’s fan app.<br />
<br />
The controversial photos were taken reportedly during November 2020 during a band video shoot in Paju, South Korea and even appeared in an official video which released in December. Source Music is part of Bg Hit Entertainment which handles boy band BTS.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
According to Source Music, the November shoot was run by “an outsourced production company” and staffers “did not sense an issue with the mannequin’s outfit."<br />
<br />
“We apologize for not being able to confirm in advance that there were inappropriate props on the shooting site, not being able to thoroughly inspect the content during the shooting and uploading process, and not paying close attention to historical facts and social issues.”<br />
<br />
The mannequin does not wear the easily recognizable red Nazi armband but instead is dressed in German military uniform dating back to Hitler's reign.&nbsp;<br />
Sowon, who has more than 800,000 Instagram followers, has not directly addressed the issue yet herself but Source Music said she was “very shocked” and “immediately” deleted her post “when she understood the significance of the image."<br />

It is common practice for K-pop singers to issue apologies through their management.</p>

<p>Interestingly, this isn't the first time that a<a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/k-pop"><strong> K-pop</strong></a> artist has stirred up Nazi-related controversy. In 2018, controversy erupted over a photo of a BTS band member wearing a hat featuring what appeared to be the Death’s Head logo of the Nazi S.S., who ran the deadly concentration camps.<br />

Big Hit later had to express “sincere apologies” for “inadvertently inflicting pain and distress to anyone.”<br />

Sowon is the oldest member GFriend which comprises of six women. The group debuted in 2015 and since then released four albums. The band's&nbsp;last release&nbsp;was in November 2020 called 'Walpurgis Night.'<br />

Even though the post has been deleted, Sowon’s social media has been flooded with angry comments. Several have insisted for a direct apology from the singer and asked her to own up to her mistake. “Your company apologized, but where’s your apology? You’re an idol, own up to your mistakes," one follower wrote.&nbsp;<br />

Others have come out and spoken in her favour and slammed those who have sent her angry comments.&nbsp;<br />

Sowon is part of K-pop girl band GFriend. The 25-year-old singer had posted the images of herself snuggling up to the Nazi-costumed dummy on her Instagram which faced severe criticism. The series of photos have Sowon striking different poses next to the mannequin. In one pic she can be seen closing her eyes and putting her head on the mannequin's shoulder, while the other captures her touching its face and smiling. The photos were eventually deleted after receiving flak. “We deeply apologize for the fact that our artist GFriend’s behind-the-scenes video … and the photo uploaded by member Sowon caused controversy,” Source Music said in a statement posted to Weverse, Big Hit’s fan app. The controversial photos were taken reportedly during November 2020 during a band video shoot in Paju, South Korea and even appeared in an official video which released in December. Source Music is part of Bg Hit Entertainment which handles boy band BTS. According to Source Music, the November shoot was run by “an outsourced production company” and staffers “did not sense an issue with the mannequin’s outfit." “We apologize for not being able to confirm in advance that there were inappropriate props on the shooting site, not being able to thoroughly inspect the content during the shooting and uploading process, and not paying close attention to historical facts and social issues.” The mannequin does not wear the easily recognizable red Nazi armband but instead is dressed in German military uniform dating back to Hitler's reign. Sowon, who has more than 800,000 Instagram followers, has not directly addressed the issue yet herself but Source Music said she was “very shocked” and “immediately” deleted her post “when she understood the significance of the image." It is common practice for K-pop singers to issue apologies through their management. Interestingly, this isn't the first time that a K-pop artist has stirred up Nazi-related controversy. In 2018, controversy erupted over a photo of a BTS band member wearing a hat featuring what appeared to be the Death’s Head logo of the Nazi S.S., who ran the deadly concentration camps. Big Hit later had to express “sincere apologies” for “inadvertently inflicting pain and distress to anyone.” Sowon is the oldest member GFriend which comprises of six women. The group debuted in 2015 and since then released four albums. The band's last release was in November 2020 called 'Walpurgis Night.' Even though the post has been deleted, Sowon’s social media has been flooded with angry comments. Several have insisted for a direct apology from the singer and asked her to own up to her mistake. “Your company apologized, but where’s your apology? You’re an idol, own up to your mistakes," one follower wrote. Others have come out and spoken in her favour and slammed those who have sent her angry comments.
