The fact that IMEC would be a way for us to engage better with countries in Asia, mainly with India, throughout the Middle East and via Israel to Europe and then to the United States, is a key element that we aspire to. Hopefully, I think soon, we will be able to see a way forward in which what I make is actually taking root and established in a more concrete manner.&nbsp;Sidhant Sibal: What kind of conversations have you had with India over the IMEC? You’re not officially part of the IMEC. So when does Israel plan to become a member of IMEC?Jonathan Zadka: Israel is not a member of IMEC, but is mentioned in the IMEC MOU, especially the Haifa port. Our discussion with India and other partners in different capacities of the IMEC is happening in an ongoing manner most of the time, and hopefully we will be able to join the IMEC soon, with the help of the other signers to the MOU.&nbsp;Sidhant Sibal: The pace of IMEC is still very slow. It’s not fast, particularly when it comes to this part of the world, primarily because of the ongoing conflict, how much that has been an impediment, and also the normalisation process with Saudi Arabia. Do you think that that is also an impediment when it comes to speeding up the entire corridor, the connectivity project?Jonathan Zadka: I think when it comes to the IMEC, it carries many, many forms. It is a matter of physical route. It could be an element that carries out transportation elements, energy, data, ideas, and many other scope of elements. And for us, it would be important for this to be put on the fast pace. We would first want to be joined officially to the IMEC and then later on, I think we will be able to carry different avenues of cooperation, from India through Israel to other countries. Hopefully this would coincide with the enlargement of normalisation and better processes in the Middle East, including the extension of the Abraham Accords.&nbsp;Sidhant Sibal: Summing it up on Abraham Accords, what’s the update like? Are you looking at more countries joining the Abraham Accords? And we have seen the Abraham Accords surviving the current situation in West Asia that emerged after the 7th of October terror attack.Jonathan Zadka: The key important issue is that the Abraham Accords is very much present. It is a strategic, it manifests the strategic decision by the different partners for them to join together by the Abraham Accords to think about a better future for everybody. Officials also tested the waters to check for safety and assured people that the water in the Sea of Galilee is perfectly fine.&nbsp;The Water Authority will continue to monitor the water quality and whether it is affecting the ecosystem in the lake. This alga Botryococcus braunii, belongs to the Chlorophyta group and produces carotenoid pigments. &nbsp;The algae have also been studied many times and is known to produce large amounts of hydrocarbons, making them a promising candidate for biofuel production. While the algae do not affect human health, they are a problem for the large ecology of the seas. The sheet of algae prevents sunlight from penetrating deep into the waters, affecting those lifeforms several feet below the surface that depend on it for survival. Later, when the algae die and decompose, they depelete the dissolved oxygen in the water, a phenomenon known as hypoxia.

You must have at least $1,000 to cross the border."&nbsp;In a similar incident in 2024, five South African women were rescued in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. They had been trafficked through Jordan, under the guise of pilgrims. Once in Israel, they endured imprisonment, physical abuse, and were coerced into prostitution.&nbsp;Some of the survivors reportedly live on minuscule wages in Bat Yam, a neighbourhood in the south of Tel Aviv, known for its Russian communities. With the increased enforcement at the Egyptian border, trafficking rings are pushed to the Jordanian route. There are ads written in Russia that claim an 80 per cent success rate of crossing the Jordan border, and others bragging about having no issues with the security forces at the Jordan border.&nbsp;In March 2025, an Indian national, Thomas Gabriel Perera, was killed while attempting to cross the Jordanian border. He had reportedly been offered a job in Israel by a fellow Indian national working in Jordan with a monthly salary of approximately NIS 14,550. In the case of the South African Women, ‘one woman was thrown naked into the street’ for perceived underperformance. Many report confiscation of documents, restricted movement, psychological trauma, and isolation from support systems.There had been numerous documented cases of Palestinians being trafficked from the West Bank and Gaza to Israel. In January 2024, an IDF soldier was among 14 Israelis accused of trafficking Palestinian women into Israel. Israel's Netanyahu to undergo prostate surgery; Justice Minister to serve as acting PM

A senior Israeli minister has said the Israel&nbsp;Defense Forces (IDF) will stay in Gaza for “many years” as Palestinian militant group Hamas shows increased flexibility for holding ceasefire talks. Avi Dichter, Israel’s minister for food security, was quoted by the Guardian as saying that the IDF will be responsible for tackling fresh Hamas fighters in the territory as well as delivering humanitarian aid in more years to come.

The statement by Dichter hints at the prolonged presence of the IDF in the besieged territory, ruling out any possibility of administration by Hamas or the Palestinian Authority (PA).

“I think that we are going to stay in Gaza for a long time. I think most people understand that [Israel] will be years in some kind of West Bank situation where you go in and out and maybe you remain along Netzarim [corridor],” the Israeli minister said.

Iran's Foreign Minister&nbsp;Abbas Araghchi issued a warning on Saturday (Nov 9) that the conflicts between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and the Jewish state&nbsp;and Hezbollah in Lebanon might extend beyond the Middle East.

In a speech aired on state TV, Araghchi warned, “The world should know that in case of the expansion of war, its harmful effects will not be limited only to the West Asia region; insecurity and instability can spread to other regions, even far away.”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian suggested that the possibility of a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon could influence Iran’s actions.

Iran warns of potential 'war expansion,' says conflicts could spread beyond the Middle East

The United States on Tuesday (Sept 3) announced charges against the top Hamas leaders over their purported roles in planning, supporting and perpetrating the deadly Oct 7 attack on Israel in which the militants killed about 1200 people and took about 250 hostages.&nbsp;

Washington D.C., however, has not charged any Israeli entity for violation of human rights in Gaza where Israel's purported retaliatory state of war in response to October 7 attacks has killed over 40,000 people and facilitated the return of the Polio in the blockaded enclave after over 25 years.&nbsp;

The US announced the charges against Yahya Sinwar, the militant group's chief, and at least five others accused&nbsp;of orchestrating the Oct. 7 attack.&nbsp;

The United States says about 40 American citizens were killed in the Oct 7 attacks.&nbsp;

US charges top Hamas leaders for October 7 attack on Israel

Israel launched pre-emptive strikes at Hezbollah targets in Lebanon on Sunday (August 24) after the Iran-backed militant group announced a large-scale operation against Israel. Hezbollah said that it launched "more than 320" Katyusha rockets towards Israel.

Israel said that the country's fighter jets attacked thousands of Hezbollah rocket launchers in south Lebanon that were aimed at northern and central Israel.
