Prime Minister Leo Varadkar confirmed that the suspect, who as per the Irish Times, had sustained wounds believed to be self-inflicted, was detained. The media report also said that a man tried to attack a number of young people when people intervened.&nbsp;

The attack occurred close to a school on the street, reported the Irish Times, the motive for which remains unknown. The police have since set up a cordon around Parnell Square in the heart of the Irish capital city. There were around 20 officers on the scene, reported the Irish media.&nbsp;

Speaking about the condition of the victims, the Irish police said a&nbsp;five-year-old girl was receiving emergency treatment after sustaining serious injuries and the other two children&nbsp;a five-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl, were&nbsp;being treated for less serious injuries. The boy has&nbsp;been discharged from hospital.

Additionally, a woman in her 30s was also being treated for serious injuries. The suspect who is said to be a&nbsp;man in his 50s was also being treated for serious injuries. The police said that they are&nbsp;not looking for any other suspect.&nbsp;

“Five casualties have been taken to various hospitals in the Dublin region,” said Garda Siochana (the Irish police), in a statement. The force was in contact with the parents of all three injured children, it added.&nbsp;

Police are working to establish a motive but do not suspect a terrorist motivation behind the attack, reported Irish national broadcaster RTE. The broadcaster citing a witness on the scene said she saw a man in a “stabbing motion” from across the road.&nbsp;

“We got another young man, disarmed him (the attacker) with the knife, another man took the knife and put it away for the garda to find it,” an eyewitness named Siobhan Kearney told RTE.&nbsp;

She added that a group of people restrained the suspect while some of those injured were taken back inside the school.&nbsp;

<h2>‘We are shocked’</h2>

“We are all shocked by the incident which has taken place in Parnell Square,” said Varadkar, in a statement. He added, “The emergency services responded very quickly and were on site within minutes. I thank them for that.”&nbsp;

He also said that the Irish police have detained the suspect and are following “a definite line of inquiry.”

Yes. As per the Guardian, the result is pretty evident. Streets and forest trails rarely have the pesky disposable cups littering them.

Talking to the publication, Michael Gleeson, chair of 'Killarney Looking Good,' a group that promotes civic improvements, said: "This was a wonderful and necessary initiative. The amount of cups strewn around is considerably reduced."

Similar initiatives have been undertaken by other towns across the globe. However, their numbers are low, because even the modest goal of eliminating single-use coffee cups isn't easy.

"The child was badly let down, and it is right and proper that Gymnastics Ireland has issued an apology. We understand that they have committed to put measures in place to ensure that a similar incident does not happen again."

In a statement to The Irish Times, Gymnastics Ireland said it immediately engaged with the girl's parents after receiving the complaint. It also said that this was done "in addition to immediately engaging with the official in question."

"Initially we attempted to address the matter through the informal process of our discipline and complaints policy," said Gymnastics Ireland.

"However, following a series of communications with the parents they informed Gymnastics Ireland that they would not be engaging in the process and were seeking legal advice," it added.

As per&nbsp;The Guardian report, Una May, the CEO of Sports Ireland, said that the judge who in the viral video can be seen ignoring the only black gymnast in the line-up had got medals "tangled up".

In an earlier statement, Gymnastic Ireland attempted to pacify the situation and said: "The official concerned said that upon realising the mistake they immediately rectified it and ensured that the competitor concerned was presented with her medal before she left the field of play."

Responding to the now-viral video, Simone Biles, the four times Olympic gymnast, said it "broke my heart" and added: "There is no room for racism in any sport or at all."

Commenting on the racism, another gymnast, Olympic silver medallist Jordan Chiles, said the incident was "beyond hurtful on so many levels."

The news spread like wildfire on social media after which people gathered in long queues outside ATMs on Tuesday. The crowd at the cash machines prompted police to be called in.

As per local media reports, some customers with no money in their bank accounts were able to withdraw up to 1,000 euros ($1,100). The bank's online application had allowed customers with low balance or no balance to transfer money into a linked account with a digital banking app, such as Revolut, that could further be withdrawn via an ATM.

"There was a huge queue - the first time I have ever seen it there, at the moment, so there must have been something wrong. I don't know what it is," Reuters quoted Newbridge resident John Lawlor as saying.

"These things happen you know, blunders, stitches... It is what this world is all about, I think. We are luckier than most," he added.

But he added: "If you withdrew 1,000 euros... then queued up outside the ATM machine to withdraw that money I don't think you deserve any leeway at all.

"Fraud is fraud. If you know you have no money and you take 1,000 euros out of a bank account and you know it's not there that's fraud. Let's not say this is a problem with Bank of Ireland systems."

On Tuesday (Aug 15), customers made a beeline outside the ATM kiosk of Bank of Ireland in Lisduggan at 10 pm (local time) in order to “cash in” on the opportunity, WLR news outlet reported.

A person told WLR that he withdrew over $1,100 from his bank, even though he had less money.

This error was witnessed in its online app that allowed customers to transfer up to $1,000 from their Bank of Ireland accounts into a Revolut account even if they had zero balance WLR reported. They could then withdraw the cash from an ATM.

However, the bank had warned customers that they would recover the money for those who made withdrawals and transfers in excess of their balances.

Dissident Republicans have got hold of leaked Northern Ireland police data: Reports

Authorities released a statement saying that they had by mistake shared the names and ranks of police officers in Northern Ireland, which further scintillated fears that the 'monumental' data breach could imperil their security.

As per the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), the data was released as part of a routine freedom of information request and also included the work location, surnames and first initials of staff but not their home addresses.

The breach comes months after the terrorism threat level in the province run by the United Kingdom was raised to "severe" in response to an assassination attempt on a senior police officer by dissenting Republicans.

"We have informed the organisation to make our officers and staff aware of the incident, appreciating the concern that this will cause many of our colleagues and families," Assistant Chief Constable Chris Todd said.

The chairman of the Police Federation for Northern Ireland, Liam Kelly, described the release as one of "monumental proportions" and in a conversation with BBC Radio said that had been "inundated" with messages from his members.&nbsp;

"They are shocked, dismayed and basically angry that this has happened," he said.

"Our officers go to great lengths to protect their identities. Some of them don't even tell their close friends and associates," Kelly explained, confirming that some on the list worked with Britain's domestic intelligence body MI5.

The killing of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell, after he left a sports complex in Omagh with his son in the month of February, triggered a public uproar in Northern Ireland.&nbsp;

Later, the responsibility of the attack was claimed by the dissident republican group the New IRA.

On Wednesday, the PSNI announced officers are probing the theft of documents, including a spreadsheet containing the names of more than 200 serving officers and staff.

"The documents, along with a police issue laptop and radio, were believed to have been stolen from a private vehicle," Assistant Chief Constable Chris Todd said in a statement.&nbsp;

A statement from O’Connor’s family said she will be buried on Tuesday and that the public will be able to pay final respects when the cortege passes the Bray seafront. 
 
“The route will begin at the Harbour Bar end of Strand Road and continue along the seafront to the other end of Strand Road where Sinéad and her family will then continue on to a private burial,” the family said. “Sinéad loved living in Bray and the people in it." 
 
The procession is her family's way to acknowledge the outpouring of love that the singer is receiving from the people of Co Wicklow and beyond since she left last week to go to another place. 
 
No other details were released. O’Connor also used the Muslim name Shuhada’ Sadaqat. 
 
The initiative was a collaboration between a Dublin-based creative agency, The Tenth Man, and signwriting and mural specialists Mack Signs. A drone filmed the installation from the air. The sign was made from recycled plastic and was to be removed on Sunday night.

The town of Clones in Ireland is in mourning after Kiea McCann (17) and her best friend&nbsp;Dlava Mohamed (16), both students at&nbsp;Largy College, died in a horrible car crash on their way to an end-of-year school dance.&nbsp;

A car carrying five people, including the teenagers, crashed after leaving the N54 road, near the Irish border and hit a tree around 18:45 local time. While the two high schoolers were killed, the other three suffered injuries.

The car was being driven by a 60-year-old man who is in critical condition, having been admitted to the&nbsp;Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. One of the injured is&nbsp;Dlava's 18-year-old sister who remains in critical but stable condition. Meanwhile, an 18-year-old man continues to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.&nbsp;

Postmortems were completed on the bodies of the two deceased, the results of which are not being released for operational reasons.

Supt Patrick O'Connell described the incident as "particularly traumatic" for all those involved.&nbsp;

"Having attended the scene last night, it was particularly harrowing, particularly the chaos that emanates when such an incident happens," said O'Connell.&nbsp;

"The fire service, the ambulance service were particularly brilliant. Without them we wouldn’t have been able to manage this incident," he added.&nbsp;

An investigation has been opened into the accident and a number of&nbsp;other previous crashes on the same road might help authorities ascertain the true cause of the accident.

On Tuesday (August 1), the entire community gathered on Monaghan Street as a mark of support for the grieving families. According to a BBC report, Dlava's family had moved to Ireland from Syria, about seven years ago.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"The news has shocked County Monaghan and the surrounding counties.&nbsp;The close community is just numb, people have no words," said&nbsp;Monaghan councillor Richard Truell.&nbsp;

The Super 8 teams will then be divided into two groups, with the top two teams from there will qualify for the semis.

Twelve teams had already booked their berths before the regional qualifiers began, with hosts West Indies and USA being the two. Alongside them, top-eight ranked teams, including India, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands and England – and Afghanistan and Bangladesh, on the virtue of their T20I rankings, also made the cut.

Other than PNG, Ireland and Scotland also qualified for the Men’s T20 World Cup by finishing in the top-two positions in Europe Region Qualifiers.

Qualifiers for the Americas (for one spot), Africa (two spots) and Asia (two spots) will also take place over the coming months.

An accurate toe-poke by forward Adriana Leon coupled with a touch of fortune allowed Canada to secure a 2-1 victory against Ireland on Wednesday, their first of this year's Women's World Cup, in wet and windy conditions at Perth Oval.

Fresh off a scoreless draw with Nigeria, Canada put themselves ahead in the match when Leon found the back of the net in the 53rd minute as her side increasingly exerted their dominance over a plucky Irish outfit. In an exciting first half that had attacking play at both ends, Ireland captain Katie McCabe opened the scoring with a fourth minute corner that curled through the air and into the net, giving the girls in green their first-ever World Cup goal.

Canada worked diligently but failed to convert their first genuine chance in the 30th minute when Vanessa Gilles put too much on a chip within the six-yard box. Some luck fell the way of the Olympic champions, though, when they equalised on the cusp of halftime, a powerful cross from midfielder Julia Grosso deflecting off Ireland's Megan Connolly for an own goal in driving rain.

Ireland, who cannot progress to the knockout stage having also lost their opener against Australia, play their final match against Nigeria in Brisbane.

Raising the terror threat level follows a police officer being shot and seriously wounded in front of his son last month, while November saw a failed bomb attack on two officers.
