Five of these were for Aniston and she even won in 2002. Kudrow scored a whopping six nominations during the 10 years the show was on the air, all in the supporting comedy actress category, winning in 1998. Courtney posted a group picture of the whole cast from the sets of the reunion episode and wrote: "The one where we are incredibly grateful to the Academy for this honour and especially thankful for @mrbenwinston and his entire team for their outstanding achievement."

In a rather strange incident, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences misidentified actor Marguerite Ray during the In Memoriam segment of the Daytime Emmys on CBS. They have now apologised for their mistake.&nbsp;

It so happened that ‘The Young and the Restless’ star Marguerite Ray’s name appeared on screen with a photograph of Veronica Redd, who is alive.

Issuing their apology, the Daytime Emmys Twitter account posted: “During last night’s #DaytimeEmmys telecast, the In Memoriam segment included an incorrect picture in our remembrance of the late Y&amp;R actress Marguerite Ray.”

“We deeply regret this error and intend to re-edit the sequence for subsequent digital releases once a replacement image can be appropriately licensed. We sincerely apologize to the Ray family — as well as to Veronica Redd, whose image was inadvertently used instead. Each of these Daytime icons deserved better from our Academy.”

The Television Academy`s Board of Governors announced on Monday that it has approved rule changes that will allow nominees an option to request that their nomination certificate and possible Emmy statuette use the term `Performer` rather than `Actor` or `Actress`. 
 
The move answers recent calls from gender non-conforming stars to make the awards system less dependent on pronouns and gendered casting. 
 
"No performer category titled `Actor` or `Actress` has ever had a gender requirement for submissions. Now, nominees and (or) winners in any performer category titled `Actor` or `Actress` may request that their nomination certificate and Emmy statuette carry the term `Performer` in place of Actor or Actress," the Television Academy wrote on Tuesday. 
 
The move will be effective beginning from 2021 Emmy Awards season.

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences said on Monday that starting from this year’s Emmy nominations, it will invite people who are nominated for acting awards to be recognised as “performer” and not “actor/actress”.

Now, nominees and (or) winners in any performer category titled ‘Actor’ or ‘Actress’ may request that their nomination certificate and Emmy statuette carry the term ‘Performer’ in place of Actor or Actress.” Also, TV Academy has declared that any film that is entered for the best documentary feature or best documentary short Oscars will, starting next Emmy season, be ineligible for Emmy recognition. Monday’s statement reads, “Any film placed on the AMPAS viewing platform will be deemed a theatrical motion picture and thus ineligible for the Emmy competition.”

The Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated screenwriter and producer Allan Burns has passed away. He was 85 when he breathed his last. The late star`s son Matt Burns confirmed the news on his father`s demise to Variety. 
 
Burns, who co-created the insanely popular American sitcom titled `The Mary Tyler Moore Show, died on January 30. However, no other details regarding the star`s death are available currently. His longtime creative partner, James L. Brooks, announced Burns` death on Twitter on Sunday. "Alan Burns, my writing partner during the Mary Tyler Moore days, died yesterday. 
 
His singular writing career brought him every conceivable recognition," Brooks wrote."But, you had to know him to appreciate his full rarity. He was simply the finest man I have ever known. A beauty of a human," he added.

The three-hour ceremony was held without a red carpet or live audience due to the coronavirus pandemic, and it faced competition from a close National Football League game and a National Basketball Association playoff contest.

Dubbing the show the “PandEmmys,” Jimmy Kimmel hosted from the Staples Center arena in downtown Los Angeles. A few celebrities and an alpaca joined him at the venue to present awards. Cameras captured nominees’ live reactions from their homes or other locations as voters honored media family saga “Succession,” dystopian drama “Watchmen” and feel-good comedy “Schitt’s Creek.”

Technical operations ran smoothly, producer Reginald Hudlin said, adding that he felt the show appropriately acknowledged the pandemic, unemployment and other problems, in part by having essential workers announce some winners.

2020 Emmy awards Black Nominees - At the star-studded Emmy awards on Sunday night, Anthony Anderson and Jimmy Kimmel mentioned 'Black Lives Matter' on several occassions as recod number of Black artists were nominated in 2020 edition of the awards. 
 
Anderson, star of the series of 'Black-ish' took to stage at the staples center for a commedy bit that focussed on how the Emmys were different this year with record number of Black nominees. Anderson rued that the show would have been hiostoric had it not gone the vitual way. 
 
"These Emmys would have been NBA All-Star Weekend and Wakanda all wrapped into one. This was supposed to be the Blackest Emmys ever," Anderson said. "Y'all wouldn't have been able to handle how Black it was going to be. But because of COVID we can't even get in the building," he said. 
 
"Instead of that sexy melanated energy, here I am, in a sterilized green room, trying not to sneeze on a llama," Anderson said. 
 
Anderson pointed out that while he was dissapointed at how the the awards had to be organised he was still happy at the Black domination at this year's awards. "I'm still rooting for everyone Black. Because Black stories, Black performances and Black lives matter. Say it with me, Jimmy," he said and Kimmel and Anderson recited the phrase louder a few more times. 
 
"That's right, and because Black lives matter, Black people will stay at home tonight to be safe. Which is fine, because guess what? Y'all don't know how to light us anyway."

The 72nd Television Academy Awards aka the Emmy Awards&nbsp;this year were different but interesting. While it was definitely less on glamour courtesy, no red carpet and live audience but it had some moments that we will cherish for years to come.&nbsp;

Emmy Awards&nbsp;2020 were virtual yet they were not dull as stars participated from their homes and showed enthusiasm for the TV Awards like every year before.&nbsp;

The major winners of the evening were ‘Succession’ that swept drama categories, ‘Schitt’s Creek’ that made history winning all awards in the comedy category and ‘Watchmen’ winning a few important prizes. Zendaya became the youngest Black actor to win an Emmy beating the likes of Jennifer Aniston and the latter gave us some memorable moments as she organised a mini ‘Friends’ reunion for us.&nbsp;

Here are some important takeaways from the Emmys 2020:

I know our TV show doesn't always feel like a great example of that, but there is hope in the young people, and I just want to say to all my peers out there doing the work in the streets, I see you, I admire you, I thank you."</li>

"Ratings have been flagging for award shows for years... This is, if nothing else, an opportunity to mix things up, to do an award ceremony in a way unlike any other that's been done," said IndieWire TV awards editor Libby Hill. 
 
"Even if Sunday night is a complete disaster, it's at least going to be an interesting disaster. And that's really all you ask for in 2020."

The show has been compared frequently as timely in the age of the truth and fact-challenged by Trump.&nbsp;

The show was nominated along with 'Escape at Dannemora', 'Fosse/Verdon', 'Sharp Objects' and 'When They See Us'.&nbsp;

'Chernobyl' also took home Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series or TV Movie (Johan Renck) and Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series or TV Movie (Mazin).&nbsp; 
Renck thanked the team behind the scenes and cast of the limited series while accepting the honour.

Mazin has confirmed that there will be no second season of 'Chernobyl'.&nbsp;

"We told a story of a place in time, and we did it pretty darn well. It`s time to start thinking about other places and other times. Whenever we look at fiction that is based on history, we look for things that are relevant to who we are now and what we are facing. The trick is finding interesting history that is repeating itself in different ways," he said backstage of the award gala.

Without sharing any information about his next project, Mazin said he is working on "some cool stuff".

It’s the season of awards and film festivals around the world as the 71st Emmy Awards kicked off with a two-night event starting off with the Creative Arts Emmy.&nbsp;

The event took place at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Winner of the night was the fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’ that took home the maximum number of awards with a total of 10.

Controversial series that had the world divided as it dealt with the content of alleged late Michael Jackson’s sexual harassment stories, ‘Leaving Neverland’, ‘Queer Eye’, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ and National Geographic’s ‘Free Solo’ were also big winners at the 2019 Creative Arts Emmys.

Among others, ‘The Simpsons’ won Outstanding Animated Program, Seth MacFarlane got it for ‘Family Guy’ in Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance while Rachel Bloom shared an award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’.

The event took place a week before the 2019 Primetime Emmys.

The Television Academy's 24,000 members sifted through a record number of entries for this year's Emmys, the small-screen equivalent of the Oscars.&nbsp;

After nominations are announced final-round voting will begin to pick winners who will be revealed at a glitzy Los Angeles show on September 22.&nbsp;

Here are five things to look out for:

'Game of Thrones'&nbsp; 
 
'Game of Thrones' enraged fans with its final season, but experts still expect the HBO fantasy epic to reign over Emmy nominations one last time.

'Thrones' is the most decorated fictional show in the awards' seven-decade history, with 128 nominations and 47 wins.

The last six episodes dominated water-cooler chat and settled the question of who would sit on the Iron Throne -- sort of -- but the flood of social media anguish over its unsatisfying conclusion almost broke the internet.

Still, voters could pick the show out of "nostalgia" and because "they want to pay respect for the impact it's had on TV overall," said Indiewire TV critic Ben Travers.

"But it also could be a lack of options," he added.

Major absentees&nbsp; 
 
The Emmys only recognize shows that were on in the 12 months to May 31.

That means several big hitters are absent from main categories this year, including Hulu's former drama series winner 'The Handmaid's Tale.'

'Big Little Lies' and 'Stranger Things' also just missed the cut-off -- something which may not be accidental.

"Some of the more prominent shows got out of the way fearing 'Game of Thrones' just dominating everything, and not wanting to go head to head with it," said Travers.

Pundits say the comedy and limited series categories are vastly stronger this year.

In comedy, White House satire 'Veep'-- another departing HBO awards juggernaut -- faces stiff competition from last year's winner 'The Marvelous Mrs Maisel,' Amazon's story of a 1950s housewife-turned-stand up comic.&nbsp;

Dark hitman comedy 'Barry' is also expected to challenge its HBO stablemate.&nbsp;

In limited series, Showtime has vigorously promoted Ben Stiller's 'Escape at Dannemora,' in which two real-life convicts escape a New York prison by seducing a female employee.&nbsp;

'When They See Us,' Netflix's true story of five men wrongly accused of raping a Central Park jogger, is also likely to line up, alongside acclaimed HBO drama 'Chernobyl.'

The two giants are set to renew their battle for overall Emmy supremacy after Netflix overtook HBO last year in the nomination count to end its rival's 17-year reign.

Web streamer Netflix secured a whopping 112 nods last time around, edging out HBO's 108.

"The sheer amount of programming that Netflix submits at the Emmys is daunting," said Travers. "They have so much more than anybody else to put on the ballot."

While Netflix also benefits from the exposure that comes with its huge subscriber base, HBO has vast experience mounting campaigns for its prestige offerings -- and could ultimately garner more wins.

Actress Priyanka Chopra has been receiving a lot of flack recently, the latest one for allegedly insulting the Bollywood industry.&nbsp

It was brought to notice&nbspin an old video back from the 2016 Emmy Awards when Priyanka was asked by a red carpet reporter to show some Indian dance moves to which the actress had said that the Indian movies are all about "hips and boobs."

"I'm extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I'm a proud Indian and that will never change. (sic)," Priyanka tweeted.

Previously, the Disney-owned network, ABC, apologised for a controversial scene that invited criticism for their star actor as she was accused to be a party to a show that showed Indian nationalists as terrorists.

The agitators burned down the posters of Priyanka and sloganeered against the actress outside the Parliament Street Police station in the afternoon to protest against the Bollywood actress, who has also become an International star.

Actress Priyanka Chopra has been receiving a lot of flack recently, the latest one for allegedly insulting the Bollywood industry. It was brought to notice&nbspin an old video back from the 2016 Emmy Awards when Priyanka was asked by a red carpet reporter to show some Indian dance moves to which the actress had said that the Indian movies are all about "hips and boobs." This caught people's attention and soon took to social media portals to slam the actress. Chopra on Saturday took to Twitter to issue an apology for the recent controversy over the episode. Taking to her Twitter handle, the actress said that her intention was not to hurt the sentiment of the people and that she was a proud Indian. "I'm extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I'm a proud Indian and that will never change. (sic)," Priyanka tweeted. Previously, the Disney-owned network, ABC, apologised for a controversial scene that invited criticism for their star actor as she was accused to be a party to a show that showed Indian nationalists as terrorists. The agitators burned down the posters of Priyanka and sloganeered against the actress outside the Parliament Street Police station in the afternoon to protest against the Bollywood actress, who has also become an International star. International Emmy Awards 2017 took place on Monday night at the Hilton New York hotel.

The International Television Academy of Arts &amp; Sciences handed out awards in 11 categories such as Arts Programming, Best Actor, Best Actress, Comedy, Documentary, Drama, Non-US Primetime, Non-Scripted, Short-Form, Telenovela and TV Movie.&nbsp;

This year&rsquo;s nominees represented 18 countries ranging from Australia to Turkey to the Philippines.

Norway&#39;s&nbsp;&ldquo;Mammon II&rdquo; grabbed the highest award with Best Drama series in its kitty.

In individual races,&nbsp;Kenneth Branagh won the Best Actor award while the Best Actress award went to&nbsp;Anna Friel in Marcella.&nbsp;

Steve Coogan picked up the trophy for comedy series for his Sky Atlantic series &ldquo;Alan Partridge&rsquo;s Scissored Isle.&rdquo; Turkey&rsquo;s &ldquo;Kara Sevda&rdquo; (Endless Love) won for telenovela. France&rsquo;s &ldquo;Ne M&rsquo;Abandonne Pas&rdquo; (Don&rsquo;t Leave Me) was recognised for TV movie/miniseries.
