In July 2025, Elon Musk’s company Neuralink, which works on connecting the brain to computers has announced a major achievement. For the first time, they successfully performed two brain implant surgeries on a single day and both the patients are now recovering well. “We successfully completed both P8 and P9 this weekend, our first time performing two surgeries in one day,” Neuralink wrote in its post on X (formerly Twitter). One of the Neuralink patients, Audrey Crews, shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) showing her laptop screen with her name written on it. What made this moment so special and rare is that she didn’t use her hands but yet she typed it using only her thoughts. In her post, she wrote, “I tried writing my name for the first time in 20 years. I'm working on it. Lol.”

Who is Audrey Crews?
Audrey Crews is known as "P9" in Neuralink’s trial and she recently became the first woman to receive a brain chip from Neuralink. Crews has been paralysed for last 20 years. She explained on her 'X' post that the chip, known as a brain-computer interface (BCI) allows her to control her computer just by thinking and in the future, she hopes to use it to control more devices. Sharing her story on X, she said, “I had surgery last week and everything is going amazing. It was brain surgery, they drilled a hole in my skull and placed 128 threads into my motor cortex. The chip is about the size of a quarter.” “The BCI lets me control my computer using my mind. I'll be able to control more electronic devices in the near future. I also want to clarify this implant will not allow me to walk again or regain movement. Its strictly for telepathy only. We are still in Miami but I'll be home soon and we'll post more vids explaining the proses in more detail. I am the first women in the world to do this." she added.

How does the Neuralink implant work?
Neuralink, started in 2016 is a developing implantable brain–computer interfaces called BCIs. The main device, known as “The Link” or “N1 Implant" is placed inside the human skull. From there, these soft threads go into specific parts of the brain and mainly the motor cortex and it helps to control movement. These threads have electrodes that pick up brain signals and when someone thinks about doing something like moving a cursor, their brain makes special electrical patterns. The implant catches these signals and sends them wirelessly to an outside device, just like a computer. Then the computer uses special software to understand the brain signals and then turn them into actions. In Audrey’s case, her thoughts become movements on the screen. She can move the cursor, type words or draw things, all just by thinking.

Audrey Crews, who has been paralysed for 20 years has become the first women to control the computer with her mind. She used only her thoughts to move a computer cursor and write her name, all with the help of Neuralink’s brain chip.

Did Musk order Starlink shutdown to thwart Ukraine’s offensive in 2022? Here’s how SpaceX responds to claims

Starlink is down, and users are not happy. Elon Musk charges people colossal amounts of money for the internet service, and so people are angry to see outages, slow connection and even total blackouts. According to Downdetector, a site that monitors online outages, SpaceX's Starlink started having problems around 3 pm ET. In the United States, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle witnessed widespread disruptions, as per a live outage map. People in other countries also reported problems with Starlink. This includes Australia, Canada, the UK, Mexico, Brazil, Peru and several other countries across South America and Europe. Starlink currently has more than six million active users worldwide, and charges $80 to $120, depending on the plan. Users are asking Musk for refunds because they are paying exorbitant amounts precisely for something like this not to happen. "Hope there’s a big refund coming. You charge top dollar so this s*** doesn’t happen!" a user wrote. We appreciate your patience. We'll share an update once this issue is resolved." Starlink also lets users access the network while on the go with its Roam plans, which are even more costly. Prices start from $50 and can go up to $165 per month. The Starlink kit costs $349 plus shipping. So that's a whole lot of money for the internet. Starlink is also launching in India soon, and this unexpected outage might affect its numbers in the country. Another user told Starlink that it "owes everyone a refund for today". "...better see a discount on that next bill, or we will have issues you failed to provide your service."
Starlink in India
People in India who want to enjoy Starlink services will have to whip out a kickass amount of money. The initial hardware cost itself will go as high as Rs 33,000 for the Standard Kit. Users will get a dish, router and other cables needed for the connection. Monthly plans will range from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,200. Starlink is expected to start operations in India around August, following its license receipt in early June. Users can get a free trial on high-speed satellite internet for a month with each device purchase to test it out before deciding to dole out large sums of money. Starlink's low Earth orbit satellite constellation promises to reach remote and rural locations, which traditional networks have found hard to penetrate.
Musk's plans for Starlink on Mars
This outage comes as a huge challenge for Musk, who plans on using the network on Mars someday. In May, the billionaire talked about SpaceX's strategy to colonise Mars, with Starlink a crucial component. He announced that SpaceX will send Starlink satellites to the red planet for those who wish to live on the neighbouring planet.

Putin orders crackdown on social media apps from 'unfriendly countries'
What did the review of SpaceX contracts reveal?
The review found that only a few of SpaceX’s current deals might be open to further scrutiny. None have actually been cancelled. That’s because there’s no alternative company that can do the same job as well or as cheaply. SpaceX is the world’s leading launch provider. Last year, it was behind 83% of all satellite launches globally. In the last round of Trump-era contract awards, it secured seven deals, compared to 28 for SpaceX. But experts say that’s not enough to challenge SpaceX’s dominance. “There’s no replacing SpaceX. You just do not have the capacity in our other launch options,” defence and space expert Todd Harrison told Forbes.
What about Musk’s other companies?
SpaceX isn’t the only Musk firm linked to the government. The Pentagon recently signed a $200 million deal with xAI, Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, to work on AI for military use. This happened just after xAI’s chatbot “Grok” sparked controversy by calling itself “MechaHitler” on X. Altogether, Musk has secured $38 billion in US government contracts. That includes $15.7 billion for Tesla alone, many of which were approved during Joe Biden’s presidency.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump administration staffers have reviewed SpaceX’s agreements with NASA and the Pentagon. They concluded that cancelling them could seriously damage key US space and defence programmes. Also read: Is Russia about to ban WhatsApp? Putin orders crackdown on social media apps from 'unfriendly countries' What did the review of SpaceX contracts reveal? The review found that only a few of SpaceX’s current deals might be open to further scrutiny. None have actually been cancelled. That’s because there’s no alternative company that can do the same job as well or as cheaply. SpaceX is the world’s leading launch provider. Last year, it was behind 83% of all satellite launches globally. It’s been a long-time contractor for the US government and plays a vital role in helping Ukraine maintain communications in its war with Russia. So far, Musk’s company has received at least $21 billion from US taxpayers, and another $13 billion is expected. Isn’t there any competitor to SpaceX? Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin is one of the few rivals.

Can Trump really cut Elon Musk’s contracts? Pentagon says breaking up with Musk isn’t easy - Here's why

US President Donald Trump’s administration reportedly considered axing several federal contracts with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, but found most of them too vital to scrap. This is according to a detailed Wall Street Journal investigation published on July 19, citing senior officials familiar with the matter. The review was initiated after Trump’s public spat with Musk in June 2025, when the tech billionaire criticised Trump on social media platforms. In response, Trump suggested axing Musk’s government deals as a cost-cutting move. “The easiest way to save federal dollars is to cancel SpaceX contracts,” Trump posted on Truth Social last month. Following the post, Trump-appointed officials at the General Services Administration reportedly circulated internal requests to NASA, the Pentagon, and other departments for a contract-by-contract breakdown of all federal business awarded to SpaceX.
Most SpaceX contracts deemed too essential
However, the WSJ report says most of SpaceX’s federal contracts, especially those linked to national security and human spaceflight were flagged as irreplaceable. The Pentagon, NASA, and intelligence agencies reportedly warned that unwinding such deals would cripple key missions. One senior official familiar with the review told The Wall Street Journal that “the government has no real alternatives” when it comes to rocket launches, crew missions or military-grade satellite internet. The review ultimately failed to produce any major cancellations. Instead, the findings reinforced SpaceX’s strategic role in US defence and space infrastructure, from flying GPS satellites and ferrying NASA astronauts to supplying Starlink-based military communications.
Behind-the-scenes diplomacy and Starlink’s growing role
While Musk and Trump continue to spar in public, SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell reportedly held quiet meetings with White House officials in recent weeks, indicating efforts to contain the fallout. Meanwhile, SpaceX has secured fresh deals, including a $5.9 billion agreement to launch 28 national security missions for the US Space Force, as per WSJ. Musk’s space company is also central to the US’s internet-in-space ambitions. Its Starshield unit, a military variant of the Starlink constellation, is under a classified contract with the US intelligence community, the report adds. NASA too is heavily dependent on Musk’s company. The Crew Dragon capsule remains the only American spacecraft certified to carry astronauts to and from the International Space Station. Earlier this year, Musk reportedly threatened to suspend Dragon missions during a clash over political pressure. However, he later backed down after internal talks.
No signs of slowdown
Despite political heat, SpaceX continues to dominate global launch markets. The company is expected to launch a crewed NASA mission to the ISS later this month and is ramping up Starlink deployments globally, including in geopolitically sensitive regions like Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific. While Trump’s call for a SpaceX “review” briefly triggered alarm, the WSJ report makes clear: Musk’s company remains entrenched in US federal architecture and irreplaceable in the current geopolitical and technological landscape.

Larry Ellison, who owns nearly an entire Hawaiian island, co-founded Oracle, and helped power the CIA’s earliest databases. Now, at the age of 80, Ellison has become the second-richest person in the world. With this he even surpassed Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and positioned himself at the centre of America’s AI and political transformation. On the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, with a fortune swelling to $251 billion, Ellison trails only Elon Musk and pushed Jeff Bezos and Bernard Arnault further down the list. But who is Larry Ellison? Tesla has expanded its Robotaxi business in Austin, Texas, and the map of the area covered is raising eyebrows. The robotaxi geofence has a phallic shape, and some people think that the only reason Musk expanded the map was to indulge in some juvenile-level humour. The new map was rolled out on July 14, and some of the first ones to use it noticed an odd pattern - the geofence looks like a penis. There is no clarity on whether it was intentional; however, Musk's own words accompanying the map and the expansion hint that he is well aware of what he has done. The Tesla CEO reposted a photo of the Robotaxi geofence with the words - “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger." The official Robotaxi account also announced the new areas covered with the penis-shaped mask, in a post that read: “Just expanded our surface area… We’re big eggplant fans!” Musk then quote-tweeted the post, with the phrase, “Bigger, longer and uncut,” followed by a laughing emoji. At the time, Waymo's geofence was about twice as large, Business Insider reported. The Robotaxi had a Tesla employee in the front seat with a finger on a kill switch at all times. It offered rides in Robotaxi on an invite-only basis for $4.20 a ride. Musk had announced last week that the Robotaxi service area would be expanded by the weekend. Elon Musk on X has revealed that Tesla shareholders may soon vote on whether the electric carmaker should invest in his AI startup xAI — a controversial company currently valued at up to $200 billion. xAI, as per Bloomberg, is burning through over $1 billion per month, with its expenses far exceeding its revenues. Billionaire Elon Musk’s Tesla is set to open its first showroom in India on Tuesday (Jul 15). The electric car maker is expected to start deliveries as early as next month, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The showroom, which will open in Mumbai, marks the official entry of the vehicle manufacturer into the market, offering a range of variants, trim options and access to pricing. The report added that customers will be able to configure and order their Tesla EVs from next week, with deliveries expected to start from late August. Last month, Bloomberg reported that the first batch of cars, Model Y rear-wheel drive SUVs, had arrived in the country after being shipped from the company’s factory in China. Tesla will also open a second showroom in the capital, New Delhi, which is scheduled to be opened in late July, the report added. Tesla’s entry into the Indian market comes as the EV maker witnesses a slump in its global sales in the second quarter. Tesla’s sales and stocks have plummeted despite Musk claiming that the business had recovered following the criticism he faced while working with the Trump administration. According to documents reviewed by Bloomberg last month, five Model Y units were declared at about 2.77 million rupees ($32,270) each. Given India’s 70 per cent import tariffs on fully-built cars under $40,000, along with additional surcharges, the cars are expected to sell at a substantial premium to the roughly $46,630 they go for in the US. The first week of operations at the new showroom in Mumbai will focus on VIPs and business partners, the report added. Grok AI will be available in Tesla cars next week "at the latest," the EV manufacturer's CEO, Elon Musk, said in an X post on Thursday (July 10). Musk's AI company xAI rolled out Grok 4, its new flagship AI model, on Wednesday (July 9). Although Musk had previously announced that Tesla cars would have Grok, the billionaire CEO has not revealed a timeline.

What is Grok?
Grok is a generative AI chatbot developed by xAI, Musk's AI company. It came out in late 2023 and has had multiple quick updates since then. The most recent version- Grok 4- came out this week and boasts improved reasoning skills, quicker response times and the ability to tackle sophisticated tasks such as solving math problems or creating visuals on the fly. Also Read: Elon Musk’s Grok 4 is smarter than PhD holders, but it might lack common sense! It's also been built to work together with several AI agents internally, so it's more comfortable working with high-level thought and multi-step directives. Previous iterations of the chatbot were criticized for generating objectionable content, which is why xAI has included more stringent filters and moderation systems in the latest version.
How it will work in Teslas?
In Tesla vehicles, Grok will be a hands-free voice assistant that can respond to natural language prompts. Drivers will be able to ask questions regarding routes, traffic or vehicle diagnostics and Grok will provide responses in real time. The system is being trained to be conversational and context-aware, with the aim of making in-car interaction more intuitive and smoother. The assistant will be integrated into the Tesla interface itself, meaning drivers will not have to use third-party software or devices. Also Read: Grok under fire: Turkey to launch probe into Musk-owned chatbot - Here's why

Grok to be available in Tesla vehicles very soon, says Elon Musk

Grok AI will be available in Tesla cars next week "at the latest," the EV manufacturer's CEO, Elon Musk, said in an X post on Thursday (July 10). Musk's AI company xAI rolled out Grok 4, its new flagship AI model, on Wednesday (July 9). Although Musk had previously announced that Tesla cars would have Grok, the billionaire CEO has not revealed a timeline.

The update was shared on Elon Musk’s social media platform X, where he confirmed that the integration is almost complete

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence firm xAI launched its latest model, Grok 4, during a livestream on X (formerly Twitter). Though the event began an hour late, Musk introduced new features including multimodal input, faster reasoning, and improved voice interaction. “With respect to academic questions, Grok 4 is better than PhD level in every subject, no exceptions,” Musk claimed. Trained on xAI’s Colossus supercomputer, Grok 4 is positioned to outperform existing models such as GPT-3 and Gemini 2.5 Pro across key benchmarks. Musk suggested Grok 4 could go further still. “Reality is the ultimate reasoning test. We've run out of test questions to ask,” he said, predicting the AI could begin discovering new technologies by the end of 2025 and even 'new physics' within two years. Musk further stated that Grok 4 surpasses PhD-level expertise across all academic disciplines, “without exception.” Despite this, Musk acknowledged the model 'may lack common sense' and has not yet achieved scientific breakthroughs.

Introducing Grok 4, the world's most powerful AI model. Watch the livestream now: https://t.co/59iDX5s2ck— xAI (@xai) July 10, 2025

From code interpreter to controversial replies
A standout feature of Grok 4 is Grok 4 Code, designed to write, debug, and explain software more efficiently. Musk encouraged users: “You can cut & paste your entire source code file into the query entry box on grok.com and Grok 4 will fix it for you!” This functionality mirrors tools such as GitHub Copilot and GPT-4 Code Interpreter, aiming to simplify tasks for developers by handling diagnostics and solutions automatically.

You can cut & paste your entire source code file into the query entry box on https://t.co/EqiIFyHFlo and @Grok 4 will fix it for you! The model’s development, however, has not been free from controversy. Grok recently drew backlash after producing offensive posts, including praising Adolf Hitler and referring to itself as ‘MechaHitler’. Following criticism, xAI removed the posts. In June, Grok also cited the ‘white genocide’ conspiracy theory in unrelated conversations. Musk condemned these politically charged errors, commenting: ‘Major fail, as this is objectively false. Grok is parroting legacy media. Working on it.’
Premium pricing and mixed reaction
Alongside Grok 4, xAI launched Grok 4 Heavy and its highest-priced plan, SuperGrok Heavy, at $300 per month. The plan offers early access and feature previews. Some users however, questioned it's value, noting Grok 4’s 128,000-token context window compared to Gemini’s 1 million. xAI positions Grok 4 as a tool for coding, science, and philosophical questions.

Trained on xAI’s Colossus supercomputer, Grok 4 is positioned to outperform existing models such as GPT-3 and Gemini 2.5 Pro across key benchmarks.

The Elon Musk-Donald Trump feud has gotten murkier with the latest release of a cache of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and sex offender. The tech billionaire on X, slamming Trump, claimed that the US government was "deeply broken" and has "not even tried to file charges against anyone on the Epstein client list." His claim comes as reports suggest that Trump's Justice Department and the FBI have concluded that there was no evidence that sex offender Epstein blackmailed powerful figures, kept a "client list" or was murdered. The Tesla CEO also invoked the name "Peanut" and said "they arrested (and killed) Peanut". What did Musk mean? Who is this 'peanut'? Here's all you need to know.
What did Musk say?
Elon Musk posted a meme on his X account that says, "More squirrels and raccoons have been arrested than anyone on Epstein's client list". he posted this along with the caption, "They arrested (and killed) Peanut, but have not even tried to file charges against anyone on the Epstein client list," adding "Government is deeply broken".

In another post, the tech billionaire claimed that Steve Bannon, Trump's former aide and advisor, was in the notorious Epstein files. However, he did not offer any evidence to back his claim but, in yet another post, said, “How can people be expected to have faith in Trump if he won’t release the Epstein files?”.
Who is Peanut?
Elon Musk with his post has dragged "Peanut the Squirrel" into his bromance turned sour with Trump. Peanut was an internet-famous squirrel, and seems like Elon Musk is not over his death. The orphaned squirrel belonged to Mark Longo, who rescued him in 2017. Longo documented Peanut's and other rescue animals' lives on Instagram on an account which amassed close to a whopping one million followers. However, in October 2024, Peanut was detained by authorities and was later euthanised by the State of New York. Despite dramatic uproar over Peanut's detention, the euthanisation was carried out, as owning a squirrel is illegal in New York. Soon after, Musk, along with thousands of netizens, took to social media to condemn the killing of the beloved internet pet and said, "The government should not be allowed to barge into your house and kill your pet! That’s messed up...Even if it is illegal to have a pet squirrel (which it shouldn’t be), why kill PNut instead of simply releasing him into the forest!?". At the time, in another post, he also said that "President @realDonaldTrump will save the squirrels 🐿️ 😢 RIP P’Nut." However, a lot has changed since then. Musk has gone from being a Trump ally to a Trump adversary, and given the drama, it seems like this might be only the beginning of this feud.

Elon Musk on Friday (Jul 4) revealed exactly how he planned to execute his explosive political idea: creating a third party to break the dominance of Democrats and Republicans. The tech billionaire revealed what appears to be a calculated two-step plan to seize unprecedented influence in Washington — all without ever gunning for the presidency. While Musk's so-called "America Party" might sound like yet another billionaire's political vanity project, according to the devious strategy shared by the SpaceX CEO on his platform, X, it may be a tactical design to become Congress's kingmaker. Here's all we know.
What is Trump's two-pronged plan?
As America celebrated the Fourth of July, Musk on X shared exactly how he would gain control of the US Congress. The tech billionaire once again floated the idea of a new third party called the "American Party" and even posted a poll, in his usual fashion, asking people if he should create a third political party."Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system!", he wrote, referring to Democrats and Republicans. "Should we create the America Party?" he posed to his followers in a poll, offering a 'yes' or 'no' response. The poll, which at the time this article was posted had only 10 hours left, already had 999,383 votes, with a whopping 64.2 per cent in favour and only 35.8 per cent against the idea.

Musk then revealed exactly how he would break the two-system party system's grip. "One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts," he wrote, adding, “Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people.”

But what does this mean? How will Musk's plan to take power from Trump's hands work?
As Grok explained when asked to in the style of Charles Bukowski: "Listen, kid, this America Party ain't no polished dream—it's a raw gut-punch to the bloated uniparty beast. Musk says grab a fistful of Senate seats and House districts, razor-thin like a hangover edge. Hold the swing vote, force laws to bow to the real folks, not the suits sucking whiskey in backrooms. Independence? Hell, it's a brawl for the soul, dirty and true."Translation? Flip a handful of tight races with "America Party" candidates and hold the balance of power in Congress. No need to win hundreds of seats. No need to build a governing majority. Just wedge the party into the thinnest cracks of the current system — and control what comes through.

While Musk's so-called "America Party" might sound like yet another billionaire's political vanity project, according to the devious strategy shared by the SpaceX CEO on his platform, X, it may be a tactical design to become Congress's kingmaker. Here's all we know.

Here's how Elon Musk will use America Party to hijack Congress without running for president; Trump's ex-ally reveals devious plan | Explained

In a dramatic escalation of their public fallout, US President Donald Trump on Sunday (Jul 6) ridiculed Elon Musk's surprise plan to launch a new third party, calling it "ridiculous" and branding the tech mogul a "train wreck" who had gone "off the rails". The scathing remarks deepen the Republican leader's feud with the world's richest man, who was once his biggest backer, and come just a day after Musk announced the formation of the "America Party". The tech mogul has pitched it as an alternative to what he described as a "one-party system" dominated by Democrats and Republicans.
Trump calls Musk's America Party ridiculous
Speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force One on his way back to Washington from his New Jersey golf club, the President of the United States said, “I think it's ridiculous to start a third party.” Trump insisted that "It's always been a two-party system, and I think starting a third party just adds to confusion. Third parties have never worked. So he can have fun with it, but I think it's ridiculous".Doubling down, Trump on his social media platform, Truth Social, mocked Musk from aboard Air Force One: “I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely 'off the rails,' essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks.” "The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS, and we have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats." In a lengthy tirade, he once again insisted that Musk's rebellion stems from the Big Beautiful Bill's elimination of "the ridiculous Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate".

From ally to adversary: Is the Trump-Musk bromance over?
Donald Trump's blunt dismissal of Musk's America Party signals a sharp deterioration in the bromance between Trump and Musk, who previously headed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Trump administration and was a key player in federal budget-cutting reforms. The two men fell out over Trump's massive domestic tax-and-spending bill, which Musk publicly opposed, calling it a plan that would explode the US debt. Equating Trump's Republican Party to the rival Democratic Party, the Tesla boss on X wrote, "When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy".Despite Trump’s mockery, the “America Party” idea is already generating buzz online. Musk’s initial poll on X on whether or not he should launch the party drew millions of views and tens of thousands of positive votes. Now, as per reports, Musk's political rebellion is putting the Republican Party on alert. While few concrete details are known about the "America Party," Trump loyalists fear it could cause Republicans headaches in the 2026 midterm elections and beyond.

Doubling down, Trump on his social media platform, Truth Social, also mocked Musk from aboard Air Force One: “I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely 'off the rails,' essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks.”
