Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence tool Grok, designed to curb misinformation on X (formerly Twitter), blamed its own creator and the Trump administration for the devastating floods in Texas. In response to a user asking who was to blame for the 27 girls still missing at Camp Mystic, Grok said, “Trump’s NOAA cuts, pushed by Musk’s DOGE, slashed funding 30% and staff 17%, underestimating rainfall by 50% and delaying alerts. US Air Force scraps project with Elon Musk’s SpaceX over 'bird nests'

Elon Musk once again floats the idea of launching a third party in the US on its Independence Day amid the ongoing feud with US President Donald Trump over 'Big, Beautiful Bill' which was passed in the US House on Wednesday and is now awaiting Trump's signature.Tech giant and 'ex-close buddy' of Trump took to X, saying, "Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system!"He further added a poll on X, along with his post, asking, "Should we create the America Party?"He was hinting at a third party, noting Republican and Democratic parties.

Earlier, Musk also said that if Trump's 'tax and spending bill' passed, a new political party would be formed in America. In a series of posts, Musk explained how the tax and spending bill will increase the national debt in America. He also claimed that both the political parties - Republicans and Democrats - are just two parties with different names, and neither has done anything to decrease the national debt.Last month, Trump and Musk engaged in a public fallout over their disagreements on the bill.Calling the bill "insane", Musk posted, "If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.”He added, "Anyone who campaigned on the PROMISE of REDUCING SPENDING, but continues to vote on the BIGGEST DEBT ceiling increase in HISTORY will see their face on this poster in the primary next year."Musk also announced in his post on X, that every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for this bill would “lose their primary next year.”Earlier today, Trump celebrated the victory of the bill passing in the US House and Senate, at a rally called ‘America250’ at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. However, as claimed by Musk, the bill could raise the national debt ceiling in the United States, adding $2.4 to $3 trillion to the national debt over the next decade.

Elon Musk, a close former buddy of Trump, added a poll on X, along with his post, asking, "Should we create the America Party?" as he hints at launching a third political party on Independence Day.

A uniparty system? Elon Musk again floats idea of launching third party on Independence Day amid feud with Trump

US President Donald Trump has talked about deportation of tech giant Elon Musk and New York's Democratic mayor candidate Zohran Mamdani in the recent days. Trump said he will look into the possibility of deportation or denaturalisation. While he had a fallout with his former ‘buddy' Musk over ‘big and beautiful’ tax and spending bill, he targeted Mamdani after New York Democratic Primary and called him ‘100% Communist Lunatic." Many from Trump’s team and his supporters have spoken about deportation, but is it really possible as per the laws of the United States? Here's what we know:
Can Elon Musk be deported?
Elon Musk, originally from South Africa, became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2002 after first coming to the U.S. on a student visa in the 1990s. Prior to that, he was a citizen of Canada. So, only if Trump and his team can prove that Musk entered US fraudulently - can there be a case for denaturalisation. During an interview with Fox News, Trump's press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about Republican Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee, who has called for denaturalisation proceedings against Mamdani, partly based on rap lyrics Mamdani allegedly wrote in 2017 referencing "terrorism." Leavitt responded, “Well, I’ll let the president speak to that. I have not seen those claims, but surely, if they are true, it’s something that should be investigated.” Meanwhile, other Republicans have made racist remark against Mamdani and have asked him to leave the US with Representative Brandon Gill telling the mayoral candidate to “go back to the Third World” after seeing him eat with his hands. However, Mamdani deportation is more of a political call as there is no legal basis. Zohran Mamdani obtained citizenship in 2018, he enjoys the same constitutional protections as any other citizen, whether natural-born or naturalized. Deportation laws primarily apply to non-citizens such as permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Once citizenship is granted, it is very difficult to reverse unless there are extraordinary circumstances. Mamdani has not been accused of any crimes or fraudulent behaviour related to his naturalisation that would justify stripping him of his citizenship. Here too, similar to Musk, the only process is denaturalisation, but there is no evidence that Mamdani lied or committed fraud during their naturalisation, or was involved in criminal activity prior to becoming a citizen that was concealed, or engaged in actions such as supporting terrorism or violent overthrow of the government. Even if there would have been one, the government must prove its case convincingly in federal court.
Trump vs Musk
Musk and Trump renewed their fight - this time about the EV subsidy in the United States of America. The war of words broke out after the Tesla boss posted non-stop about Trump's ‘big beautiful bill’, stating that a new ‘America Party’ will be launched if the bill is passed. In response, Trump said that he would have to return to South Africa if he didn't get EV subsidies in the US. Later, while he was on his way to Florida’s Alligator Alcatraz, a reporter asked Donald Trump whether Musk would be deported after he criticised Trump’s tax spending bill. He said, “I don’t know. We’ll have to take a look.” He also jokingly mentioned that he may deploy the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to investigate the Tesla CEO saying, “DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon.” He added, "We'll have to take a look. He gets a lot of subsidies,” said Donald Trump.
Trump vs Mamdani
Trump said during a Tuesday press conference at a detention center in Florida referred to as “Alligator Alcatraz” that if Mamdani prevents ICE agents from conducting their operations to deport people, then "we’ll have to arrest him." He also mentioned false claims that Mamdani entered the country illegally. On a question of Mamdani's possible deportation, Trump said, “We’re going to be watching that very carefully, and a lot of people are saying he’s here illegally. We’re going to look at everything.” In a sharp response, Mamdani, who has won New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary, has said that he will not accept this "intimidation." US President Donald Trump has talked about deportation of tech giant Elon Musk and New York's Democratic mayor candidate Zohran Mamdani in the recent days. Trump said he will look into the possibility of deportation or denaturalisation. Elon Musk has been distancing himself from the Trump administration and appears to be making amends for his actions. The former DOGE chief has now apologised for wielding and waving a chainsaw at a Conservative Political Action Conference in February. Argentinian president Javier Milei presented Musk with the deadly tool, which the SpaceX CEO brandished in the air, apparently as a message that DOGE was going to cut down the federal government's budget massively. Now, Musk said in a comment on a post on X that he regretted holding the chainsaw and "running away" with it, and that it lacked empathy. "Milei gave me the chainsaw backstage and I ran with it, but, in retrospect, it lacked empathy," he wrote. Musk was responding to a post in which a user suggested that if he hadn't been "worried about looking cool" and had not acted like a "fool", he "could have gotten more done."
Musk and DOGE massive fallout for the vulnerable
What DOGE did had a huge fallout. Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI has secured a total of $10 billion in fresh funding, $5 billion in debt and $5 billion in equity as it ramps up efforts to expand its AI infrastructure and accelerate development of its flagship Grok platform, Morgan Stanley announced on June 30. The debt raise, structured through secured notes and term loans, was oversubscribed and attracted several prominent global debt investors, according to a statement shared by Morgan Stanley on social media platform X. In parallel, xAI closed a separate $5 billion strategic equity investment, underscoring growing interest in the AI sector despite early concerns about investor appetite. The proceeds from both the debt and equity deals will be channelled into developing advanced AI models, building one of the world’s largest data centres, and further expanding the capabilities of xAI’s Grok platform. Billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk once again slammed the "Big Beautiful Bill" of the US President Donald Trump. Taking to his social media platform X, Musk reshared a poll on the bill and wrote, “Polls show that this bill is political suicide for the Republican Party." In a consecutive post, Musk called the bill “utterly insane and destructive.” “The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!” he wrote, adding that the bill was “utterly insane and destructive. It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.” A screenshot of the poll, shared by Trump, said, "Elon Musk claims that this legislation is an outrageous pork-filled spending bill that will massively increase the budget deficit and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt." The poll, conducted by The Tarrance Group, showed that 58 per cent of the total voters in the November presidential election voted in agreement with Trump's bill. Meanwhile, 37 per cent disagree with it, and the first 5 per cent of the voters were unsure about it.

'Political suicide, split govt better': Musk continues tirade against Trump's Big Beautiful Bill. Here's what he says now

Elon Musk launched a fresh wave of criticism against President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax and spending legislation on June 28, calling the Senate’s revised 940-page bill “utterly insane and destructive”. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO warned that the legislation would lead to “immense strategic harm” and cost millions of American jobs. “The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!” Musk wrote on X. “It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.”The Senate is working through the weekend in a race against time, as Republicans aim to pass the bill before Trump’s self-imposed Independence Day deadline. The newly released 940-page draft includes significant changes from the House version passed last month by a single vote. In a bid to satisfy budget rules and shore up wavering GOP (Grand Old Party) support, the updated bill features steeper cuts to Medicaid, reworked tax provisions, and modified timelines for phasing out clean energy subsidies.A central criticism of the bill, including from some Republicans, is its projected $3 trillion increase to the federal deficit over the next decade, as estimated by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). While the GOP holds a majority in both chambers, the bill has sparked internal divisions, particularly over its deep spending cuts and subsidies for fossil fuel sectors, including a new credit for coal used in steel production.
Musk’s energy interests in the crosshairs
Musk’s criticism highlights the bill’s potential blow to clean energy sectors. The legislation includes provisions that would raise taxes on solar, battery, wind, geothermal, and nuclear energy projects, areas central to Tesla’s energy business. He warned that the bill would undermine America’s future industries while artificially propping up outdated sectors like coal. One controversial inclusion: a subsidy for coal used in steel production. Simultaneously, the Senate version proposes a gradual rollback of clean energy tax credits, offering reduced incentives through 2027 before eliminating them entirely in 2028.Tesla produces battery storage systems and solar photovoltaic solutions, and Musk warned the bill could cripple innovation just as global demand for clean tech is growing. “This is political suicide for the Republican Party,” he later added, warning of long-term consequences.
A feud rekindled
Musk’s remarks come just weeks after a public fallout with President Trump, sparked by the tech magnate’s earlier denunciation of the bill as a “disgusting abomination”. Musk, a major GOP donor who once led the now-defunct Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), briefly reconciled with Trump after walking back some of his harsher posts. However, the comments suggest renewed tensions. Musk previously threatened to withhold political donations and called out lawmakers who supported the legislation, accusing them of betraying the American public. In a particularly heated exchange earlier this month, Musk insinuated Trump was connected to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, an allegation made without evidence. While both parties had attempted to move past the dispute, it remains unclear whether Musk’s latest broadside will rupture the uneasy peace.
What else is inside the new draft?
The latest version includes a swathe of policy changes designed to appease various GOP factions:Social security tax breaks: The Senate bill enhances tax deductions for seniors, raising the amount from $4,000 (in the House version) to $6,000. However, these benefits taper off for higher-income individuals.Medicaid overhaul: The Senate draft imposes the strictest-ever work requirements on enrollees, including adults with children aged 15 and over. It also reduces provider taxes from 6 per cent to 3.5 per cent by 2031, although a $25 billion rural hospital fund was added to placate critics.SNAP restrictions: The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (food stamps) would see new work requirements for childless, able-bodied adults, and states would be required to contribute more funding.Overtime and tips tax relief: The Senate version retains the House’s promise to eliminate taxes on overtime pay and tips—a key Trump campaign pledge—but phases out the benefit for individuals earning over $150,000.Child tax credit: The Senate proposes a permanent increase to $2,200 (versus $2,500 in the House bill) and lowers eligibility thresholds by requiring only one parent to have a Social Security number.State and local tax (SALT) cap: To win over moderates, the cap on SALT deductions would rise from $10,000 to $40,000 for joint filers under $500,000 income, but only until 2030.
Activist backlash
Tesla shares fell 14 per cent following Musk’s initial attacks on the bill, as Trump hinted at reconsidering government contracts involving Musk’s companies. Meanwhile, activist groups organised “anti-celebration” protests on Musk’s 54th birthday, condemning his links to the Trump administration and far-right political elements in Europe.Democrats, though largely sidelined in the process, have lambasted the bill. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries labelled it a “reckless, regressive and reprehensible GOP tax scam” and vowed to use it as campaign fodder in next year’s midterms.Trump, meanwhile, has taken to social media to push for swift passage: “It’s time for our friends in the United States Senate to get to work and send this bill to my desk as soon as possible!”

The first human whose brain was implanted with Elon Musk's Neuralink chip is showing off more skills. Noland Arbaugh, from Arizona, says he can draw using just his mind, and also depicted the amazing feat. A diving accident left him paralysed below the shoulders in 2016. That same year, US neurotechnology firm Neuralink was launched. However, the first human tests were only allowed in 2023, and in January 2024, Noland became the first person to receive the brain chip implant. The brain-computer interface (BCI) chip is extremely small.Entrepreneur and author of Neuraleap: HOW BCI will redefine communication, business and governance, Velco Dar, talked to Noland recently and drew some lines with him. He shared the experience on X, saying he used a computer trackpad to draw on a shared canvas, while Noland controlled the cursor with his brain for the same."Last week I spoke to Noland Arbaugh @ModdedQuad about his journey & his views on a BCI future. Then we drew some lines together on a shared canvas: him controlling the cursor using his thoughts (via @neuralink ), and me - the old school way, using a computer trackpad," Dar wrote.

Noland said in the interview that he is "not artistic at all". But he demonstrated how he uses the N1 chip to draw digital photos on screen. He controlled the cursor with his mind, and drew flowers, the sun and a house. Dar noted that it was incredible to see Noland move something using just his mind. Noland said that he sometimes forgets that what he does with his brain is not something people are used to seeing. “I forget that people haven’t seen this constantly. I think, 'Oh yeah, this is just my life, this is how I use it and what I do with it.'”He added, “I use it around people who’ve never seen it before, and their jaws drop.” Noland said that while trying to move the cursor, he imagines certain scenarios in his mind. He told Dar that he "clicks and drags" the cursor in his mind. Other actions he thinks about include "flicking his thumb out to the left, while the other is pinky out to the right." Earlier, Noland had shown himself playing chess, video games and learning languages.

Noland Arbaugh was interviewed by entrepreneur and author Velco Dar. Together, they drew on a canvas, with the former using just his mind.

The brain-computer interface (BCI) chip is extremely small. Entrepreneur and author of Neuraleap: HOW BCI will redefine communication, business and governance, Velco Dar, talked to Noland recently and drew some lines with him. He shared the experience on X, saying he used a computer trackpad to draw on a shared canvas, while Noland controlled the cursor with his brain for the same. "Last week I spoke to Noland Arbaugh @ModdedQuad about his journey & his views on a BCI future. Then we drew some lines together on a shared canvas: him controlling the cursor using his thoughts (via @neuralink ), and me - the old school way, using a computer trackpad," Dar wrote.

Tesla’s long-awaited foray into autonomous ride-hailing began on June 22, in Austin, Texas, marking a pivotal moment in Elon Musk's ambitious vision for the future of transportation. A fleet of approximately 10 Model Y SUVs will operate in a geofenced area of the city, offering a limited, invitation-only robotaxi service to early testers. This marks the first real-world deployment of Tesla's autonomous driving technology, but the service will be heavily restricted. Trips will be unavailable in bad weather, and passengers under 18 will be excluded. Additionally, a Tesla safety monitor will sit in the front passenger seat during the initial phase of testing.Tesla plans to expand the service to up to 1,000 vehicles within months, with Musk teasing the eventual introduction of a fully autonomous “cybercab” that will operate without pedals or a steering wheel. However, Tesla has made it clear that safety will remain a priority, with Musk admitting to being “super paranoid” about the rollout’s potential risks. For now, the general public will have to wait as Tesla fine-tunes the technology.
A gamble for Tesla’s future amid growing competition
The robotaxi service is seen as a critical test for both Tesla’s self-driving capabilities and the company’s future business prospects. Investors are banking on autonomous vehicles as a key driver of Tesla’s next phase of growth. Wall Street analysts predict that if the service succeeds, it could push Tesla's market capitalisation to over $2 trillion by the end of next year. However, as Tesla enters the crowded autonomous vehicle space, it faces strong competition from Alphabet’s Waymo, which already operates a commercial robotaxi service in several US cities.Tesla is betting that its vision of using cameras alone, rather than the more commonly employed lidar and radar systems, will be both safer and more cost-effective. But the company is also acutely aware of the risks, having seen competitors like GM’s Cruise and Uber pull back from their own self-driving ambitions following incidents involving fatalities.
Teleoperation and safety concerns
As part of its cautious approach, Tesla will rely on a teleoperation system where remote operators can take control of the robotaxis in certain situations. This method, used by other autonomous vehicle companies like Waymo, allows humans to intervene when a vehicle encounters a scenario it cannot handle on its own. However, experts warn that teleoperation has inherent risks, particularly when it comes to cellular data connectivity, which could experience lag or drop entirely in crucial moments.“The technology may work for a small test deployment, but once scaled up, the risks become more significant,” Philip Koopman, a Carnegie Mellon University engineering professor and autonomous-vehicle safety expert, told Reuters. Tesla’s strategy will be closely scrutinised by regulators and safety advocates, especially as the company pushes for broader deployment.Despite these hurdles, the stakes for Tesla are high. The robotaxi service is poised to redefine the transportation landscape and could serve as a pivotal factor in Tesla’s efforts to maintain its leadership in the electric vehicle and AI-driven industries.

Elon Musk has released the results of a drug test following claims that he had been using illegal substances during his involvement in Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.Last month, The New York Times published a report alleging that Musk, who was described as Trump’s biggest financial backer, had taken drugs such as ketamine, ecstasy, and magic mushrooms. The report cited unnamed sources familiar with his behaviour. On Tuesday, Musk posted what he claimed were lab results on X, with a caption ‘LOL’. The test was conducted on 11 June by “Fastest Labs of South Austin” in Texas.According to the lab report, Musk tested negative for a range of substances, including amphetamines, MDMA (ecstasy), cocaine, ketamine, marijuana, and fentanyl.

Only urine test conducted, not hair or blood analysis
The lab results Musk shared only show the outcome of a urine test. Experts note that urine tests are limited in scope, they can only detect drugs used in the past few days.In comparison, hair follicle tests can detect drug use over a longer period, often up to 90 days, while blood and saliva tests have different detection windows. This means that Musk’s test results do not necessarily disprove allegations of past drug use, particularly claims of drug-taking earlier in 2024.
Musk denies chronic drug use allegations
Responding to the original allegations, Musk stated, “I tried prescription ketamine a few years ago and said so on X, so this not even news. It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but haven’t taken it since then.” He also accused the New York Times of “lying.”The newspaper’s report alleged that Musk kept various pills in a daily medication box and described his ketamine use as “chronic”, even claiming it caused bladder issues.
Musk–Trump tensions deepen over drug claims
The timing of the drug allegations coincided with Musk’s departure from the White House, following a 130-day stint as “DOGE leader."Soon after, Musk and Trump began clashing publicly, with Musk criticising Trump’s legislative efforts and accusing him of being linked to Jeffrey Epstein.Musk wrote on X, “Trump is in the Epstein files… the real reason they haven’t been released.” Trump denied the accusation. In private, Trump reportedly called Musk a “Big-Time drug addict”, according to a Washington Post report. However, when asked by reporters whether he had seen Musk take drugs, Trump replied, “I don’t think so. I hope not. I wish him well.”A few days later, Musk appeared to soften his tone. He wrote, “I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far.”
