An artist whose official portrait of Donald Trump was dubbed as ‘truly the worst’ by the president nearly two weeks earlier, said that his comments have negatively impacted her business.
Last month, the Republican criticised the portrait, which was hanging in Colorado’s State Capitol, saying it had been “purposefully distorted” in a post on his Truth Social platform. Following the remarks, the portrait was removed.

Sarah Boardman, the British artist who painted the Trump portrait, told Sky News that she felt her “intentions, integrity, and abilities” had been “called into question” when the president criticised the oil painting.

“President Trump is entitled to comment freely, as we all are, but the additional allegations that I ‘purposefully distorted’ the portrait, and that I ‘must have lost my talent as I got older’ are now directly and negatively impacting my business of over 41 years which now is in danger of not recovering,” she said.

“Since President Trump’s comments, that has changed for the worst,” she added.
Boardman said she was commissioned to paint the official portrait of President Trump for the Denver State Capitol Gallery of Presidents by the Colorado State Capitol Advisory Committee, Denver. ‘Changed for the worst’: Artist of Trump’s ‘truly worst’ portrait claims her business is in danger

US President Donald Trump’s sweeping new tariffs are facing fresh criticism, not just for their impact but for the very math behind them. Economists at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a right-leaning think tank, say the formula the Trump administration used to calculate the tariffs is fundamentally flawed.
Trump triggered global chaos last week after unveiling a 10% “baseline” tariff on nearly all imports, alongside much higher rates for around 60 countries, some exceeding 40%. He claimed these “reciprocal” tariffs reflected how those countries tax US goods. But according to AEI, the figures don’t add up.

In a report released Friday titled “President Trump's Tariff Formula Makes No Economic Sense. It's Also Based on an Error,” AEI’s Kevin Corinth and Stan Veuger criticised both the logic and execution of the tariff plan.
They argue that Trump’s formula, a simplified calculation based on dividing the US trade deficit with a country by that country’s exports to America, is misleading. “Even if you accept the logic of the formula, it inflates foreign tariffs by four times,” they wrote.
They also point out that trade deficits aren't just caused by tariffs. Factors like capital flows, supply chains, and geography all play a role. “A trade deficit with a given country is not determined only by tariffs and non-tariff trade barriers,” the authors said.

Miscalculation explained

The White House later confirmed the tariff numbers were based on a basic model with just two variables. To soften the blow, Trump said he halved the resulting figure to be “kind.”
But the AEI economists say the administration's mistake lies in confusing how tariffs affect retail prices versus import prices. The formula used an elasticity value (how much prices respond to tariffs) of 0.25 when it should’ve been closer to one.
“The elasticity of import prices with respect to tariffs should be about one (actually 0.945), not 0.25,” the report says, citing the original study Trump’s team referred to. That small misstep, AEI warns, throws off the entire calculation.

'Makes no economic sense': Trump’s tariff math is 'based on an error' and it could cost the US economy dearly - Here's how

United Kingdom's Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to declare an end to the era of 'globalisation' after US President Donald Trump's massive reciprocal tariffs that has triggered a global trade war, according to a report by The Times.
The UK PM will address the nation on Monday, where he is likely to admit that globalisation, which started after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, has "failed" millions of voters and acknowledge why Trump's economic nationalism is popular among his supporters.
The UK does not agree with Trump's 10 per cent "baseline" tariffs and other recent protectionist measures, a senior UK official told the publication.

"We've got to demonstrate that our approach, a more active Labour government, a more reformist government, can provide the answers for people in every part of this country," the official added.
Moreover, Starmer will also announce protective measures for the British economy in the upcoming week amid Trump's ongoing tariff war, Bloomberg reported.

'End of globalisation'? UK PM Keir Starmer's BIG announcement as Trump's disastrous tariffs shake markets

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered a formal investigation into the leak of a recent US proposal concerning profits from Ukraine’s energy and mineral assets, the Financial Times reported. The probe, led by Ukraine’s domestic security service, includes the use of polygraph tests on government staff, according to officials.
The leak comes as tensions grow between Kyiv and the Trump administration over the conditions of a proposed agreement involving critical energy and mineral resources.

Trump accuses Zelensky of stalling on asset deal

US President Donald Trump recently claimed that Zelensky was “trying to back out” of the agreement and warned that he would face “big problems” if he did not sign it soon.
Ukrainian officials told the Financial Times that lie detector tests have been carried out across several ministries. They did not specify how many people were tested or share further details. While the reliability of polygraph tests is disputed, Ukraine regularly uses them in investigations and military screening.

Opposition MP reveals details of US draft proposal

The draft agreement was made public on 26 March by opposition MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, who claimed to have obtained a copy. Speaking at a press briefing on 28 March, Zelensky called the leak “strange” and questioned how the information had been passed on. “I wonder who is transmitting this information,” he said.

New US proposal expands on earlier deal with Kyiv

The leaked document outlines a new US proposal that goes beyond a previous framework agreed upon in February. That deal was later dropped following a fallout between Zelensky and Trump, along with Vice President JD Vance, during a meeting at the White House.
Despite the broader terms in the latest proposal, it still offers Ukraine no formal security guarantees, a sticking point for Kyiv.

Trump administration sees investment as deterrent to Russia

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has claimed that security guarantees aren’t necessary, suggesting that American investment in Ukraine’s mineral sector alone would discourage future Russian aggression. However, Ukrainian officials have expressed strong disagreement with this view.
Trump’s plan ties into his wider strategy to bring an end to Russia’s invasion and to reclaim what he sees as billions owed by Kyiv for previous US military support.

Kyiv rejects repayment demands, seeks revised deal

Last week, Zelensky pushed back against Trump’s claim that US military aid should be treated as a loan to be paid back through the proposed deal.
The current draft suggests creating a joint supervisory board to oversee revenues from major oil, gas, and mineral projects, a condition that Ukrainian officials fear could weaken the country’s sovereignty and clash with its ambitions to join the EU.
“We cannot accept any arrangement that undermines our EU path,” Zelensky said.

Ukraine prepares response ahead of Washington talks

Speaking from his office on Friday, Zelensky said Ukrainian officials and legal teams are working on a new version of the proposal, which they hope the Trump administration will consider. A Ukrainian delegation is expected to travel to Washington next week for further discussions.

'China has been hit much harder': Trump downplays Beijing's retaliatory tariffs but admits trade war 'won’t be easy'

'Tariffs' has become THE BUZZWORD of the year so far, with US President Donald Trump using it without hesitation since the onset of his second term and even before.
India’s reputation as the world’s “tariff king” isn’t going away anytime soon. With duties like 50% on apples, corn, and motorcycles, and 100% on coffee, raisins, and walnuts, it’s no wonder the US President gave India an honourable mention in so many of his speeches about tariffs. But behind these steep import taxes lies a bigger story: One of protection, politics, and a push for self-reliance.

Not just taxes: It’s a safety net

India’s love for tariffs isn’t just about blocking foreign goods; it’s about shielding its own. For decades, the country has used high import duties to protect its local industries, especially agriculture and manufacturing, from being crushed by cheaper international competition.
Take dairy, for instance. With tariffs reaching up to 60%, Indian farmers get a fighting chance against big global dairy exporters. Companies like Amul argue that slashing duties would destroy livelihoods. The same logic applies to other farm goods like meat and processed foods. Drop the tariffs, and the market could be flooded with cut-price imports, leaving small-scale producers in the dust.

Cash cow for the government

Tariffs also keep India’s treasury full. In the 2026 financial year alone, the government expects to rake in ₹2,40,000 crore from customs duties. Lower tariffs might win a few friends abroad, but they’d also punch a hole in public revenue, and that’s a tough sell at home.
What’s more, if India cuts tariffs for one country, trade rules often mean others get the same deal. That’s a chain reaction the government isn’t in a hurry to trigger.

Aatmanirbhar Bharat: Self-reliance over global deals

Then there’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, or Self-Reliant India. Under this plan, tariffs are being used as a tool to boost local manufacturing, particularly in sectors like electronics and solar energy.
For Indian businesses, this strategy is a win. Fewer global players at the table means less competition. It’s a protectionist playbook, yes, but one that aligns with both political messaging and economic goals.

So, why won’t India budge?

To outsiders, India’s high tariffs might seem like a barrier to free trade. But at home, they’re seen as requirement for protecting jobs, feeding government revenue, and supporting an ambitious domestic agenda.

World: India’s love for tariffs isn’t just about blocking foreign goods; it’s about shielding its own.

'Not just taxes, it’s a safety net': Why India has sky-high tariffs?

Asian stocks started Friday with deep losses as investors braced for further pain across global markets after Wall Street's $2.5 trillion rout. President Donald Trump touted Wednesday as a landmark in U.S. history, saying his tariffs would "make America wealthy again." Instead, the steepest levies in a century sparked a rapid selloff in risk assets, culminating Thursday with a 4.8 percent rout in the S&P 500.

Donald Trump says 'time to get rich' amid fear of recession

US President Donald Trump brushed off questions about an investigation into Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth’s use of the encrypted messaging app Signal to discuss military operations, calling it a “wasted story.”
The Pentagon’s Inspector General confirmed on Thursday that it had launched an inquiry into whether Hegseth and other Department of Defense (DoD) officials violated policy by using an unauthorised app to share sensitive information.
Aboard Air Force One, a reporter asked Trump if he had any comments on the investigation. “On Pete Hegseth and this IG investigation, do you want to weigh in on that?” the reporter asked, in a clip later shared on X.
“What — what is it?” Trump responded. “There’s an IG investigation into the secretary of Defense’s use of the Signal app,” the reporter clarified.
Trump, appearing irritated, dismissed the question. “Oh, I don’t — you’re bringing that up again? Don’t bring that up again. Your editors probably — that’s such a wasted story. So what else?” he said.

Probe into Hegseth’s Signal messages

The Pentagon’s Inspector General is examining whether Hegseth’s use of Signal to discuss US military airstrikes in Yemen on 15 March breached security policies. A memo from acting Inspector General Steve Stebbins stated that the investigation aims to assess whether DoD personnel followed procedures when using a commercial messaging app for official business.

The Atlantic had previously published messages showing Hegseth sharing operational details about the attacks against Houthi militants. These messages reportedly included launch times of F-18 fighter jets, bomb drop timings, and naval Tomahawk missile launches—before the operation had even taken place.
The White House and Hegseth have strongly defended the messages, arguing they were merely “team updates” that did not contain classified sources or intelligence methods.
However, the Pentagon’s own classification rules indicate that such details would typically be marked at least at the “secret” level, with some of the real-time updates potentially classified at an even higher level. One of Hegseth’s messages even included the phrase “clean on OPSEC” (operational security), suggesting he was aware of the sensitivity of the information being shared.

US President Donald Trump fired at least six National Security Council (NSC) officials after a meeting with far-right activist Laura Loomer. This is the first significant expulsion of Donald Trump's second presidency. It is also being termed as the first action after the 'Signalgate' leak involving National Security Advisor Michael Waltz.

Though the US president downplayed Loomer's role in the firings, Loomer had raised concerns about the loyalty of these officials. According to multiple reports, Loomer called out approximately a dozen members of Representative Mike Waltz’s national security team, recommending their removal.
"Always we’re letting go of people...People that we don’t like or people that we don’t think can do the job or people that may have loyalties to somebody else," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One as he made his way to Miami on Thursday (Apr 3) afternoon.

The firings in the National Security Council, which advises the president on the important security challenges facing the country, come at a time when NSC is embroiled in a high-profile leak of classified discussions on Signal involving NSA Michael Waltz. The controversy, now dubbed 'Signalgate' erupted when Waltz mistakenly added The Atlantic's editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, to a Signal group chat discussing an attack on the Houthis in Yemen. The accidental inclusion of a journalist in a sensitive conversation raised serious concerns about national security and internal administration discipline. As per reports, Waltz’s team regularly set up chats on Signal to coordinate official work.

Donald Trump fires NSC officials, who are they? What is its impact on US national security

$1.5 trillion for Trump’s miscellaneous tax objectives, such as no taxes on tips, overtime pay and Social Security, as well as an increase in the state and local tax deduction (SALT).

According to The New York Times, Loomer attended a 30-minute Oval Office meeting where she criticised officials in front of their boss, National Security Adviser Michael Waltz. She has particularly targeted Deputy National Security Adviser Alex Wong, questioning his loyalty because his wife worked as a Justice Department lawyer under Democratic administrations.
Loomer even accused Wong, without evidence, of adding The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg to a sensitive Signal chat as part of a foreign operation to embarrass the Trump administration on behalf of China.

Trump fires ‘disloyal’ national security staffers after meeting with conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer: Who is she?

Tariff has become a "hot topic" this week as US President Donald Trump announced sweeping "reciprocal tariffs" on several nations on the Liberation Day (Tuesday).
The US president said that 10% baseline tariff on all nations, and higher rates for individual countries will boost the US economy and protect jobs.
Initially, the word "tariff" was first brought up by Trump last month, when he released a memorandum announcing his intention to impose “reciprocal tariffs” under the Fair and Reciprocal Plan 1 (FRP).
Since then, it has indeed become Trump's favourite word, along with "deportation" of course.

What does tariff mean 'literally'?

The roots of the word 'tariff' lie in the Arabic meaning "information, notification, explanation, a making known” and was derived from Arabic “to notify, make known”.
The early appearance of the word appeared in a Sicilian document from 1338. The word is also borne in the title of a Venetian merchant guide written around 1345, according to a report by South China Morning Post.
It was later borrowed into English, in the world's earliest documentation was in William Garrard’s 1591 manual The Art of War. Advising on the logistical organisation of battalions, the author recommended: “So that helping your memorie with certain Tablei or Tariffas made of purpose to know the numbers of the souldiers that are to enter into ranke.”

Step one: ‘Carefully examining’ the impact
Here, with the "tariffas", Garrard meant arithmetical tables or statements, a kind of cheat sheet, in this case for calculating troops arrays.
However, today, with the globalisation, it has a more specific meaning - an official list or schedule that sets forth the customs duties to be imposed on imports and exports, a table or book of rates, or the whole body or system of such duties as established in any country.
The most common kind of tariffs are ad valorem, which are levied as a fixed percentage of the value of the imports.
Tariffs are a form of tax applied on imports from other countries. All the countries have been using tariffs for long. But after World War II, tariffs largely fell out of favour in advanced economies because they often lead to reduced trade, higher prices for consumers, and retaliation from abroad.

Why do countries use tariffs?

Almost every nation imposes tariffs on exports from other nations. Generally, wealthy countries maintain low tariffs compared to developing countries.
However, there are several reasons behind it:
Developing countries might have more fragile industries that they want to protect or they might have fewer sources of government revenue.
For example, the US maintained high tariffs for decades, until income taxes supplanted tariffs as the most important source of revenue in the 1930s.

Indian government’s big plan to counter Trump’s 26 per cent tariffs? Step one: ‘Carefully examining’ the impact

Donald Trump is facing mocking after he vowed he would put tariffs on Fentanyl — an illegal drug, in a bizarre rant.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump, while slamming Republicans who he claimed were not supportive enough of his trade policy, said he would tariff "the value of this horrible and deadly drug in order to make it more costly to distribute and buy".
The bizarre rant came just before Trump unveiled a raft of tariffs against enemy and ally nations alike, which economists say might plunge the world into a new global recession.

What did Trump say?

In his signature rant-like post on Truth Social, Trump named and shamed Republicans, who he claimed were not supportive enough.
He wrote: "Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Rand Paul, also of Kentucky, will hopefully get on the Republican bandwagon, for a change, and fight the Democrats wild and flagrant push to not penalise Canada for the sale, into our Country, of large amounts of Fentanyl, by Tariffing the value of this horrible and deadly drug in order to make it more costly to distribute and buy."

Trending | World | Donald Trump proposes tariffs on illegal drug Fentanyl to increase its cost, causing widespread mockery and debate on the feasibility of such a policy.

In his signature rant-like post on Truth Social, Trump named and shamed Republicans, who he claimed were not supportive enough. He wrote: "Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Rand Paul, also of Kentucky, will hopefully get on the Republican bandwagon, for a change, and fight the Democrats wild and flagrant push to not penalise Canada for the sale, into our Country, of large amounts of Fentanyl, by Tariffing the value of this horrible and deadly drug in order to make it more costly to distribute and buy." Trump wants to tariff 'illegal drug' Fentanyl, internet labels him 'pathetic' and questions 'Do drug dealers pay tariffs usually?'

US President Donald Trump has been imposing tariffs on left, right, and centre. This will affect goods worth millions of dollars entering the country. Will this add to the woes of Americans? So far, Trump has imposed taxes ranging from 10% to 50%, the latter is for 'worst offenders'.
Canada and Mexico have currently been exempted from these scathing tariffs, though they, along with China, are already paying taxes on select products.

In this long list of tariffs, what is going to be expensive in America, let's find out...

Houses

Softwood lumber plays a pivotal role in houses built in the US, which is imported from Canada. But Trump said been categoric about the fact that the country has more lumber than they have ever used. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has been concerned about these tariffs as it could increase the cost of building houses. News outlet BBC, quoted NAHB, "Consumers end up paying for the tariffs in the form of higher home prices."

Beer, wine, whiskey, and tequila

Corona and Modelo are some of the popular beers that could be on shelves but with elevated price tags. These are imported from Mexico. The tariff on aluminium could inversely hike the prices of canned beverages. The Beer Institutes mentions that about 64.1% of beverages are poured out of cans in the country.
While the discussion among the representatives of the spirit industry is that some alcohol need to be produced in the respective country, like Tennessee whiskey, tequila, and Canadian whisky, bourbon. This may add to trouble with supplies and inturn affect the cost and pricing.
With that alcohol from Europe will see a 200% tariff. French champagne, German beer and Spanish wine lovers may feel the pinch, though this needs more clarity.

Cars

In 2024, US saw an import of about eight million cars, which accounted for about $240 billion in trade. The tariffs could add thousands of dollars to the cost of a new car purchase. Prices may go up even for cars made in the US. Given the longstanding free trade agreement between US, Mexico and Canada, many American companies have their operations in these countries.
The new tariffs have been relaxed on car spare parts from these countries as the customs and border patrol have systems in place to assess the duties levied. As reported in BBC, Anderson Economic Group says only parts from these countries could elevate the pricing by an estimated $4,000-$10,000, depending on the vehicle.

Fuel

Canada is US' largest foreign supplier of crude oil, according to official figures, 61% of oil imported into the country between January and November 2024 came from Canada.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has introduced a 25% tariff on most goods imported from Canada, energy resources from the country face a lower rate of 10%.

Maple syrup

Canada rules the global market when it comes to maple syrup, the country accounts for 75% of the global production. The Quebec province produces about 90% of the king ingredient on pancakes. "That maple syrup is going to become more expensive. And that's a direct price increase that households will face," said Thomas Sampson from the London School of Economics.
He added, "If I buy goods that are domestically produced in the US, but [which use] inputs from Canada, the price of those goods is also going to go up."

Avacado

Yes, guacamole and avocado toast may become an expensive affair. America imports nearly 90% of the avacados consumed from neighbouring Mexico. The fruit thrives in Mexico, as the climate and weather conditions are just perfect.

THESE six things to get expensive for Americans after trade tariffs. List here

Whatever US President Donald Trump may think about India, he’s got one thing right, it is the “tariff king.” India’s tariff rates are among the highest in the world, and Trump has called the South-Asian nation out on multiple occasions.
“India charges us 100 per cent tariffs; the system is not fair to the US, it never was,” Trump said in an address to the Joint Session of the US Congress.
His administration’s latest trade report backs him up. The Office of the United States Trade Representative listed India’s high tariffs, including a 50 per cent duty on apples (compared to the US, which has no tariffs on apples). India also levies 50 per cent tariffs on corn and motorcycles and 100 per cent tariffs on coffee, raisins, and walnuts.
So, on April 2, Trump hit back with a 26 per cent reciprocal tariff on India. But forget why India has such high tariffs (that’s another article in itself); the real question is: how much is this going to cost Prime Minister Narendra Modi?

A blow to Atmanirbhar Bharat

Trump’s tariffs will be a direct blow to Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan, or “self-reliant India” campaign, which has been a core policy since 2020.
Since taking office in 2014, Modi has gradually hiked tariffs to push domestic manufacturing. His government has also rolled out production-linked incentives (PLIs) to attract foreign manufacturers to India by offering them rewards for increasing local production.
The official reason for India’s high tariffs? Protecting local industries. These same industries, backed by big businessmen who benefit from these tariffs, are a major source of support (and funding) for the Indian government.

Indian agriculture to a big hit

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick asked, “Why won’t India buy even a single bushel of American corn?”
Lutnick wanted India to open up its agricultural sector, accusing India of blocking US farmers. But, while India could minimise tariffs on industrial goods, agriculture is a whole different topic.
Every time the government tries to sign a deal to allow dairy imports, it gets shut down because of the argument that it would drive millions of small farmers into ruin.
The same logic applies to other agricultural products. If India lets in cheap American imports, its farmers will take the brunt, and that’s politically not good for Modi, who has already had to backtrack on farm laws after mass protests.

Trump himself has a ‘simple’ solution for world leaders

So, what can Modi do?

The Indian government tried to soften Trump’s stance ahead of PM Modi's Washington visit in February by lowering India’s highest tariffs (100-150 per cent) on some items, including bourbon whisky.
Motorcycle import taxes also dropped from 50 per cent to 30 per cent, bringing India’s average tariff rate down from 11.5 per cent to 10.6 per cent. This did help a bit: both sides agreed to finalise the first phase of a trade deal by autumn and boost trade to $500 billion by 2030 (from $210 billion in 2024).
India also promised to buy more American oil, gas, and arms to reduce its trade surplus with the US. These moves keep talks alive and buy time.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal even flew to Washington to offer further tariff cuts covering 55 per cent of US exports. India also scrapped a 6 per cent tax on digital ads (a win for American tech giants), and Jio and Bharti Airtel struck deals to bring Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet service to India.
But was that enough for Trump? No. India still landed on his latest tariff retaliation list.

Can Modi meet Trump’s demands?

If PM Modi backs down too much, he could anger some of his strongest support groups—farmers and big business. Farmers are already cautious of Modi’s policies, and businesses, who have long been protected from foreign competition for far too long, won’t exactly be beaming with joy if tariffs drop too low.
Aside from that, Trump’s tariffs could also hurt Indian exports. Goldman Sachs estimates that Trump's tariffs could cause a 0.6 per cent drop in India’s GDP growth.
That might not seem like a lot right now, but a prolonged trade war could put a serious dent in PM Modi’s vision for 'Amrit Kaal.'

Trump’s reciprocal tariffs hit ‘tariff king’ India: Could they cost PM Modi his next term?

US President Donald Trump kicked off his “Liberation Day” event to loud cheers, stepping onto the stage as the band played Hail to the Chief, the personal anthem of the president of the United States. With his signature 'Trumpisma (charisma but Trumpian)', he declared, “My fellow Americans, this is Liberation Day!”
He told the crowd that “April 2, 2025, will forever be remembered as the day American industry was reborn,” insisting that for decades, the US had been “looted, pillaged, raped, and plundered” by foreign nations.
The whole world was waiting with their breaths held to see how much it would cost them, but it's not the worst!

While Trump called these tariffs “reciprocal,” he admitted they’re only about half of what other countries charge the US.
"We will charge them approximately half of what they are and have been charging us," he said.
“I could have done that, yes, but it would have been tough for a lot of countries. We didn’t want to do that,” he added.
Instead of going full force, Trump said his approach is more "kind reciprocal," a softer hit that still sends a message. It's like giving other nations a taste of their own medicine, just not the full dose.

Trump signs two major executive orders

To wrap up the event, Trump signed two executive orders that he says will shake up global trade:
Closing the ‘de minimis loophole’ – This loophole has allowed China to send cheap goods into the US without paying taxes or import duties.
Order implementing ‘reciprocal tariffs’ – Trump is now slapping tariffs on imported goods, including a 25% tax on all foreign cars and tariffs between 10% and 49% on other imports.

Former US President Barack Obama was working against former vice president Kamala Harris, who ran in the 2024 presidential election race against Donald Trump after President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential election race, authors Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes claimed in their new book.
Allen, a senior political reporter at NBC News, claimed that Obama did not believe that Kamala Harris would win against Donald Trump.

He then warned that such strikes, if carried out, can be "catastrophic".
"The consequences of this, especially if the strikes are on nuclear infrastructure, could be catastrophic for the entire region," warned Ryabkov.
He added that "While there is still time and the 'train has not left', we need to redouble our efforts to try to reach an agreement on a reasonable basis. Russia is ready to offer its good services to Washington, Tehran, and everyone who is interested in this."
