Former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn, who ended his career with 439, 196 and 69 wickets in Tests, ODIs and T20Is respectively, has also predicted the finalists of the CWC 2023 edition.

Speaking on Star Sports ahead of the 2023 edition, Steyn said, "It’s a tough one, you know my heart wants to go with South Africa making the final. I would love them to make the final, their team, a lot of their players play in the IPL, they play in India regularly. They got some guys like in David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen who really started to figure out those conditions and bat well there. Then, there is KG Rabada who has been bowling there for ages and a lot of their other senior players have played a lot of cricket there. So I feel like they have got the ability to go on and get to the finals with getting those players."

"I feel like the favourites would probably be India, I feel like India is going to be one of the finalists and probably England. But my heart wants to say South Africa and India but I am kind of leaning towards India and England,” the former South Africa speedster&nbsp;added.

In the same discussion, ex-India fast-bowling all-rounder Irfan Pathan has also backed Temba Bavuma &amp; Co. He stated, "See, on logic you can’t drop England from the finalists spot because they have a very strong team, and the way they are playing cricket with their all-rounders like at number 9, they have an all-rounder batsmen like Chris Woakes, so I know that but I have a hunch in my heart which says that South Africa will do great in this World Cup."

South Africa will play two warm-up games -- on September 29 (Friday) versus Afghanistan and October 02 (Monday) versus New Zealand in&nbsp;Thiruvananthapuram -- before their CWC '23 opener versus Sri Lanka in New Delhi on October 07 (Saturday). After a brilliant IPL 2022, the veteran wicket-keeper batter has continued his fine form in the ongoing T20I series against South Africa at home. Karthik slammed a match-winning half-century to help India register a comfortable 82-run win in the 4th T20I against the Proteas on Friday (June 17).

Karthik made his return to the Indian team after a gap of three years in the ongoing South Africa series as he had last played for India during the 2019 ODI World Cup. While Steyn will be the pace bowling coach, Lara will be serving as strategic advisor and batting coach. Katich, who was the head coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the first phase of IPL 2021, will be the assistant coach while Badani joins as fielding coach and scout.

Steyn, who has played 95 IPL matches while representing the now-defunct Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Lions, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, took 97 wickets in the league. 
 
Just like Steyn, this will be Lara's first coaching stint in T20 franchise cricket. In a career spanning over 17 years, Lara established himself as one of the greatest left-handed batters in the world. He scored 11,953 runs in 131 Test matches at an average of 52.88, including 34 centuries, 9 double-centuries, and 48 half-centuries. 
 
He holds the record for highest individual score in first-class cricket (501 vs Durham in 1994) as well as the highest individual score in Test cricket (an unbeaten 400 against England in 2004). In ODIs, Lara amassed 10,405 runs at an average of 40.48, including 19 centuries and 63 half-centuries. 
 
Katich, who represented Australia in 56 Tests, 45 ODIs and 3 T20Is, had been an assistant coach for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL from 2016 to 2019 before moving to RCB as their head coach until August 2021.
