IPL 2025: Kohli, Krunal power RCB to beat Punjab Kings in return leg, enter top three

Every year, there is this comparison between the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/indian-premier-league" rel="dofollow">Indian Premier League (IPL)</a> and its competitor, the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/pakistan-super-league" rel="dofollow">Pakistan Super League (PSL)</a>. While the cash-rich IPL is head and shoulders ahead of every other franchise-based T20 League worldwide, several Pakistan cricketers back their league to scale those heights sooner rather than later. In an interesting incident, a Pakistani cricket fan was filmed watching an <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/ipl-2025" rel="dofollow">IPL 2025</a> game while attending a live PSL game, with the video doing rounds on social media.
The video circulating shows a local fan sitting in the stands for a live PSL match, checking the proceedings of a <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/delhi-capitals" rel="dofollow">Delhi Capitals</a> game in the IPL. The video clip is from past Wednesday (April 16), when Delhi hosted Rajasthan Royals in an evening game, and Islamabad United was facing Multan Sultan in Rawalpindi simultaneously.

<h2>IPL, PSL are underway at the same time</h2>
The two-most-talked about franchise T20 leagues, the IPL and PSL, are running simultaneously, with the best of the best players plying their trades in both.&nbsp;
While IPL manages to rope in every team&rsquo;s first-team players, those not picked in the IPL auction or choose not to register their names in this league in the first place go elsewhere.
Considering the Indian govt and the BCCI have banned Pakistani cricketers from registering their names in IPL auctions due to issues stretching beyond cricket fields, none features, having last played during the inaugural season in 2008.
However, as things stand, in the 18th edition of the IPL, the former five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reeling at the bottom half of the points table. While CSK is down at the tenth position, with just two wins from seven contested matches thus far, Mumbai bettered theirs with two successive victories, collecting six points from seven played games.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals are leading the chart with five wins each, needing at least three more to confirm their playoff berths this year.&nbsp;

<h2>2024 - CSK won by 20 runs</h2>
CSK triumphed by 20 runs - CSK posted 206/4, thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad&rsquo;s elegant 69 and Shivam Dube&rsquo;s unbeaten 66. MI&rsquo;s chase was powered by Rohit Sharma&rsquo;s fighting century, but Matheesha Pathirana&rsquo;s sensational four-wicket haul sealed it for CSK as MI could manage 186/6.
<h2>2023 - CSK won by seven wickets</h2>
CSK dominated with a seven-wicket win, restricting MI to 157/8 with Ravindra Jadeja&rsquo;s handy 3/20. In response, Ajinkya Rahane dazzled with a 27-ball 61, and contributions from Conway (44), Gaikwad (40), and Dube (28*) helped CSK cruise home with 11 balls to spare.
<h2>2022 - MI won by five wickets</h2>
A rain-hit clash saw MI chase down CSK&rsquo;s low total in a 32-over game. Devon Conway top-scored with 36 as CSK crumbled. MI&rsquo;s young guns Tilak Varma (34) and Tim David finished the job with five balls remaining.
<h2>2019 - MI won by 37 runs</h2>
MI secured a 37-run win as Suryakumar Yadav (59) and Krunal Pandya (42) lifted them to 170/5 before Hardik Pandya (3/20) and Malinga (3/34) strangled CSK&rsquo;s chase; despite Kedar Jadhav&rsquo;s valuable 51, CSK could manage only 133/8 in their 20 overs.
<h2>2018 - CSK won by one wicket</h2>
CSK pulled off a heist for the ages. Chasing 166, they were reduced to 118/8 before Dwayne Bravo exploded with 68 off 30. An injured Kedar Jadhav returned to hit the winning boundary with one ball left, sealing a miraculous one-wicket win.
Thus, as the Wankhede prepares for another blockbuster, both sides will know that form and luck matters little when MI meets CSK. It&rsquo;s about handling pressure, seizing the moment and giving your 200 per cent in the El-Classico of the Indian Premier League.

After punching his ticket to his last WrestleMania, Cena turned on Cody Rhodes during the final segment, later joining hands with the Final Boss &lsquo;The Rock&rsquo;, shocking the pro wrestling world.
Upon switching in-ring characters at Chamber, Cena had a go at Cody several times in the lead-up to their Night 2 main event, with both taking shots at each other.
Although rumours of The Rock making an appearance sometime during the title match have done rounds on social media, should it happen, Cody could also have someone at his corner to even the equation. Now that someone could be anyone.
Meanwhile, considering it is Cody&rsquo;s first title defence at the Show of the Shows, he might end up retaining it.
<h3>Who faces Orton?</h3>
The Legend Killer, the Viper - Randy Orton, is scheduled to have a match at WrestleMania 41 Night 2, but his opponent hasn&rsquo;t announced it. Though speculations of former WWE superstar Rusev challenging him have gained prominence, a surprise entrant besides him could also headline that match.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/paul-heyman" rel="dofollow">Paul Heyman</a> was at the centre of one of the most shocking endings in <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/wwe-wrestlemania" rel="dofollow">WWE WrestleMania</a> history during Night 1 of the 41st edition of the Showcase of Immortals in Las Vegas on Saturday. Wiseman to the Tribal Chief, <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/roman-reigns" rel="dofollow">Roman Reigns</a>, Heyman walked out with CM Punk as part of the favour he owed to the former champion, only to stab both in the back with low blows later and walk out with the winner of the triple threat, Seth Rollins, shocking the pro wrestling world.
While Roman main evented the Mania for the record 10th time in history, Punk was involved in his first ever, with the crowd in attendance cheering for him throughout.
This triple threat was hands down the match of the night and perhaps the most exciting and significant one in the company&rsquo;s history. Although there were plenty of massive highlights, including Seth turning Roman&rsquo;s spear into a pedigree and all three superstars hitting their respective finishes late into the match, what stood out was the ending that had everyone wondering, &lsquo;Why Heyman, why?!&rsquo;
Meanwhile, when all three were down, Heyman walked towards the commentary area to pick up a steel chair; everyone was amused and intrigued by it, wondering whom he would back and stab simultaneously. While Heyman was looking at Punk and Roman, trying to decide on whom to provide the backup, he began by offering the chair to Punk, leaving everyone shocked.
Roman&rsquo;s face told the entire story as Punk collected the steel chair, but as he was about to hit Reigns with it, Heyman turned on Punk by giving him a low blow, with the crowd going bonkers. He then bowed to Roman, offering him the chair, with the Tribal Chief smashing a couple on Punk&rsquo;s back.
<h2>The moment of Night 1 at WrestleMania 41</h2>
Then came the moment that shocked the pro-wrestling world.
As Roman lined up to attack Seth with the chair shot from behind, Paul did the unthinkable, backstabbing his Tribal Chief with another low blow.&nbsp;
With that unfolding, he finally gave the chair to Seth, who attacked Roman with it and pinned him next, beating the two and winning the triple threat.

WWE WrestleMania 41: Paul Heyman backstabs CM Punk and Roman Reigns to close Night 1 – WATCH

James Hillier set his footsteps on Indian land for the first time five years ago, and he was not just another foreign coach hired for a spree. It is not about podium finishes and medals for James. His vision was much deeper. He came here to build an Indian <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/athletics">athletics</a> program from scratch, a program that could stand on its own. He was determined to rebuild the whole system.
Coming from the UK&rsquo;s structured, grassroots-rich sports system, Hillier was struck by the ad-hoc nature of athletics in India. Competitions often lacked planning, training programs were inconsistent, and systems for athlete development were either missing or under-utilised. It wasn&rsquo;t about resources, he observed, but how they were being used.
&ldquo;When I first came to India, I saw lots of things happening&mdash;without structure, without planning,&rdquo; Hillier, aformer sprint and hurdles coach with British Athletics,&nbsp;said in an exclusive interaction with WION. &ldquo;A lot of last-minute dot com things happening. I felt if we could just give some structure to the athletes&mdash;because athletes crave structure&mdash;that could be the game changer.&rdquo;

He crafted new systems, integrated to the global model standards, that could function independently in the UK and Germany. But every single one of them was set according to Indian scenarios.
The infrastructure and planning alone is not what produces champions. Hillier found the most important missing piece was attitude. No matter how much raw talent and numbers are available, there will always be a gap in belief and possibility around world class success. This however, had to shift. &nbsp;
"Indiais like a sleeping giant in athletics. If the mindset isn&rsquo;t developed&mdash;if Indian athletes don&rsquo;t believe they can be world class&mdash;then they won&rsquo;t be.&rdquo; &nbsp;
It was clear that Hillier had a different mindset. It wasn&rsquo;t just developing the sprint or polishing the technique, it was selling belief. Young athletes had to be told that they were not competing on the same track as Americans, Europeans, or Jamaicans, but were rather, on the same level. To do this, they needed, access to, and regular competition, support systems centered on long-term goals rather than short-term success. &nbsp;
Building trust in athletes is equally important in Hillier&rsquo;s view as achieving structure. He believes that athletes are not machines to be optimised and sees them as human beings without any ego. What motivates them drives their fears, and their lives beyond track, all of which are essential for his approach.
&ldquo;Every athlete has a life beyond sports. That&rsquo;s where I begin,&rdquo; he mentioned. &ldquo;I would love to understand what drives them. Are they intertwined with providing a living for their households? Earning a living? It is fine, but it will not work here if that is the single motivation. This is a program directed towards becoming the best you can be.&rdquo;&nbsp;
It has fostered the relationships he has with some of his elite athletes like Amlan Borgohain and <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/jyothi-yarraji">Jyothi Yarraji</a>. He concedes to being tough, but is unapologetic in saying that it comes from concern when he has to do so.&nbsp;
&ldquo;I have been very tough with Amlan at times,&rdquo; he shared. &ldquo;But they know I have got their back. I am in it for them, not for me. Positivity is important as with a happy athlete, you have one who is going to perform exceptionally.&rdquo;&nbsp;

Hillier got the idea of performance-graded races during the COVID-19 lockdown when competition was non-existent and the spirits of everyone were low. Athletes started at different ability levels forcing faster runners to compete for even top positions.
&ldquo;We devised races in which people began at different positions&mdash;Amlan would chase someone starting at 180m,&rdquo; he remembers. &ldquo;Even with a small pool of athletes, it allowed for competition.&rdquo;
<h2>'I require fast people'</h2>
Hillier thinks what distinguishes truly great athletes from good ones is the lack of an intangible urge to rise above in competition.&nbsp;&ldquo;I cannot take a slow person and make them fast; I can only make them less slow,&rdquo; he responds matter-of-factly. "I require fast people. Further, I require someone who races better than they train. It's infrequent to find the people who compete&mdash;and from get-go&mdash;they rise two levels. But they&rsquo;re the ones.&rdquo;
To these athletes, he likens <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/f1">Formula One</a> cars; high-maintenance and high-performance vehicles, capable of sheer brilliance if everything goes right.&nbsp;
&ldquo;India has the same area as Europe, yet we only manage to have 20 competitions within a year,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;We require far more. There should be weekly competitions in every district. This does not require a big investment &ndash; the goodwill of a few dedicated individuals suffices.&rdquo;
With a complete overhaul required on how federation deal with competitions, the structure should initiate at the location. Convenience cannot be prioritised, as only time-efficient tracks and facilities can aid in enhancing performance. Mainstream meets need to be held at tracks that are known for fast times, and javelin pitches that are known for good throws need to be used.
&ldquo;Everyone strives to set personal bests, but with the amount of headwinds and poor tracks available, it is practically impossible to run,&rdquo; he rhetorically shares. &ldquo;The way things are done requires change.&rdquo;
Hillier is still aiming to build an ever-present foundation to set the stage for preferred outcome in the long run, as the objective should not only be identifying the next under-20 sensation but also fostering an environment where consistently identifying new star athletes can be anticipated.
&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t want someone good for one season,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;I want someone like Jyothi, who can dominate for eight years.&rdquo; &nbsp;
He's a man that single-handedly can invent or create a new sport in a month. And with his blend of discipline, mentality, plus compassion, it seems Hillier could become the long awaited hope for Indian <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/athletics">athletics</a>.

Exclusive | Coach who trains top sprinters in India says, 'If Indian athletes don’t believe they can be world class, then they won’t be'

While on the one hand, social media influencer RJ Mahvash has maintained that she is single, her constant appearances with India and <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/punjab-kings">Punjab Kings</a> cricketer <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/yuzvendra-chahal" rel="dofollow">Yuzvendra Chahal</a> have intensified speculation surrounding the two. We do know, for instance, that Mahvash has been spotted numerous times supporting Chahal during IPL matches in which the Punjab Kings are playing.
Ahead of PBKS vs RCB on Sunday (April 20), Mahvash was seen arriving at the airport with Chahal and even getting on the team bus with the leg-spinner. This footage has gotten a lot of people wondering whether the two are indeed in a relationship.
When RJ Mahvash was seen getting on the PBKS team bus, which she isn&rsquo;t part of, it didn&rsquo;t take the fans long to conclude that there&rsquo;s definitely something brewing between the two. It was that act alone from the social media influencer that was enough to spark the rumors.

After struggling at the start of the 18th edition of the IPL, Chahal recently outperformed expectations for PBKS. The franchise&rsquo;s leg spinner single handedly set the tone for the wins against the Kolkata Knight Riders and <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/royal-challengers-bengaluru">Royal Challengers Benguluru</a> in the last two matches. Mahvash even praised Chahal on social media after his four-wicket haul against KKR.

Manchester City's chances of Champions League football next season were given a huge boost as late goals from Nico O'Reilly and Mateo Kovacic beat Everton 2-0 on Saturday to move the champions up to fourth in the Premier League. <o:p></o:p>O'Reilly turned home Matheus Nunes' inviting cross in the 84th minute before Kovacic blasted in from the edge of the box to turn an uninspired performance from Pep Guardiola's men into a priceless three points.<o:p></o:p>

"For 60 odd minutes we played well and gave them a good game," said Everton boss Moyes. "Tarky coming off had a big change in the game. It shouldn't have, but it did."<o:p></o:p>
Savinho's low shot from the edge of the box that was well-saved by Jordan Pickford and a wasted chance from Omar Marmoush, with just the England goalkeeper to beat, proved to be warnings Everton did not heed.<o:p></o:p>
O'Reilly has made a big impact in recent weeks deputising at left-back and the 20-year-old netted when Nunes drilled in a low cross.<o:p></o:p>
Substitute Kovacic made the points safe with an accurate low drive from Ilkay Gundogan's lay-off to take City a huge step closer to minimising the damage of a disappointing season.<o:p></o:p>

Also read | Barcelona close in on La Liga title after stunning comeback win over Celta Vigo The visitors dominated possession but Everton were rarely troubled until the closing stages as they sat back and waited for the chance to strike on the counter-attack or from a set-piece. It was the home side who came closest to breaking the deadlock before half-time when James Tarkowski's header from a corner came back off the post. Kevin De Bruyne rolled back the years in City's fightback from 2-0 down to beat Crystal Palace 5-2 last weekend. However, the Belgian has often been a shadow of his former self in his final season in Manchester and struggled to put his stamp on proceedings. De Bruyne did have City's best first-half effort when his goalbound shot was blocked by Jake O'Brien. Everton were left to rue not making the most of a positive start to the second period. Jarrad Branthwaite should have scored when he nodded straight at Stefan Ortega after Tarkowski won another header inside the City box. But the loss of Tarkowski to a muscle injury that could end his season proved to be a turning point. "For 60 odd minutes we played well and gave them a good game," said Everton boss Moyes. "Tarky coming off had a big change in the game. It shouldn't have, but it did." Savinho's low shot from the edge of the box that was well-saved by Jordan Pickford and a wasted chance from Omar Marmoush, with just the England goalkeeper to beat, proved to be warnings Everton did not heed. O'Reilly has made a big impact in recent weeks deputising at left-back and the 20-year-old netted when Nunes drilled in a low cross. Substitute Kovacic made the points safe with an accurate low drive from Ilkay Gundogan's lay-off to take City a huge step closer to minimising the damage of a disappointing season. Manchester City keep Champions League hopes alive after entering top four with Everton win

Barcelona pulled off a stunning comeback from two goals down to beat Celta Vigo 4-3 on Saturday and move seven points clear of Real Madrid in the La Liga title race. However, Flick said striker Robert Lewandowski needed tests after coming off with an apparent hamstring problem, making him a doubt for the Copa del Rey final next weekend against rivals Real Madrid.<o:p></o:p>
"From my experience we wait until tomorrow (and the tests)," said Flick, who did not want to rule out the club's top scorer too quickly.<o:p></o:p>

Celta were left with nothing to show for their efforts.<o:p></o:p>
"It's a bittersweet feeling... we scored three, which few teams can do (here), but it feels bad," said Celta's Duran.<o:p></o:p>

Off the countless firsts in cricket that will blow everyone&rsquo;s mind &ndash; 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi is set to become the youngest-ever cricketer in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Representing <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/rajasthan-royal" rel="dofollow">Rajasthan Royals</a> in <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/ipl-2025" rel="dofollow">IPL 2025</a>, Vaibhav is on the Impact Sub list and likely to bat against <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/lucknow-super-giants" rel="dofollow">Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)</a> on Saturday; aged 14 years and 23 days, Vaibhav will walk in the XI as an injury replacement for regular captain Sanju Samson.
Samson suffered an injury during the side&rsquo;s previous game against the Delhi Capitals, retiring midway through his innings. Although Rajasthan&rsquo;s head coach Rahul Dravid detailed Samson&rsquo;s injury status ahead of the LSG game, saying he&rsquo;s walking on thin ice regarding his fitness, visuals of Riyan Parag walking down for the toss confirmed Samson&rsquo;s absence.

Deciding to bowl first after winning the toss, Parag revealed that Vaibhav would play Saturday&rsquo;s encounter, coming in as Samson&rsquo;s replacement; with that, he created history by becoming the youngest ever to play for an IPL team.
Meanwhile, Prayas Ray Barman, who made his IPL debut for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at 16 years and 157 days in 2019 against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), was the previous youngest cricketer in IPL.
&ldquo;We were looking to bowl, it is a little bit warm under lights, should be better than the last time. Vaibhav, the youngster, comes in. It's been kinda tricky; we've been doing small bits right, but we haven't been able to put a collective performance together; we've been having honest chats as a team. We love playing here, we know the conditions well, hope we can put that to good use,&rdquo; Parag said at the toss.
<h2>Vaibhav&rsquo;s early rise to success</h2>
Vaibhav is living every kid&rsquo;s dream in the country, playing his first IPL game as a 14-year-old.
Last year, he created history by becoming the youngest to bag an IPL deal at 13 years. At the IPL 2025 mega auction, Rajasthan Royals purchased the rookie left-hander for a whopping INR 1.1 crore.
Meanwhile, Suryavanshi first rose to the limelight after hitting his maiden triple hundred &ndash; an unbeaten 332, in the Randhir Verma Tournament, an Under-19 competition in Bihar. Thus far, he&rsquo;s played five first-class matches, scoring 100 runs at 10.&nbsp;

Nayar is no next-door backroom staff member at the franchise, as he has been their man behind the scenes, working on grooming players in their academy over the years. Despite such credentials besides his name, the BCCI decided against renewing his central contract, due in June this year, following Team India&rsquo;s batting failure during their past two Test series (against New Zealand at home and Australia Down Under), which they lost.&nbsp;
While India&rsquo;s batting failure on the rank turners at home brought shame, as they surrendered the Test series (0-3) for the first time in history, failing to deliver against the famous Aussie pace attack despite drawing first blood in the series, it mounted pressure on Abhishek.

Following the horrendous tour Down Under, where India conceded the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in a decade and the chance to qualify for their third straight WTC Final (in June), the BCCI conducted a review meeting, where Nayar&rsquo;s role came under the scanner. While multiple voices within the management raised questions about his responsibilities, feedback from the players helped the BCCI conclude it.&nbsp;

It’s the first time in Indian Cricket history that the BCCI terminated a backroom staff member’s contract, handpicked by the head coach (Gambhir here). Sports, Cricket

Former Team India assistant batting coach Abhishek Nayar has found solace in IPL 2025 return, just days after the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) cut short his national contract midway through the season. The former Mumbai all-rounder has rejoined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as part of their backroom staff, attending the team’s training session from Saturday (Apr 19) onwards, IPL franchise KKR announced in a statement. "Abhishek Nayar has rejoined our support staff. He is likely to be at training at Eden today," KKR’s statement read, per Cricbuzz. Welcome back home, @abhisheknayar1 💜 pic.twitter.com/IwJQTnAWxa — KolkataKnightRiders (@KKRiders) April 19, 2025 Nayar is no next-door backroom staff member at the franchise, as he has been their man behind the scenes, working on grooming players in their academy over the years. Despite such credentials besides his name, the BCCI decided against renewing his central contract, due in June this year, following Team India’s batting failure during their past two Test series (against New Zealand at home and Australia Down Under), which they lost. While India’s batting failure on the rank turners at home brought shame, as they surrendered the Test series (0-3) for the first time in history, failing to deliver against the famous Aussie pace attack despite drawing first blood in the series, it mounted pressure on Abhishek. While multiple voices within the management raised questions about his responsibilities, feedback from the players helped the BCCI conclude it. Abhishek Nayar finds solace in IPL 2025 return after BCCI cuts short contract

Cricket has seen several great fielders over time, but none as athletic, stylish, or intimidating as former South Africa great <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/jonty-rhodes" rel="dofollow">Jonty Rhodes</a>; it&rsquo;s almost like fielding is a synonym for his name. For the longest time since his emergence on the international scene, Jonty has remained head and shoulders ahead of everyone, even to date. However, ex-India seamer and IPL franchise Gujarat Titans (GT) head coach <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/ashish-nehra" rel="dofollow">Ashish Nehra</a> differs here, handpicking an Indian gun fielder mightier than Rhodes.
Ahead of his side&rsquo;s home game against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday in IPL 2025, the broadcaster (Star Sports) asked Nehra to pick his best fielder in cricket history, to which he replied, &lsquo;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/ravindra-jadeja" rel="dofollow">Ravindra Jadeja</a>&rsquo; straightaway.
Meanwhile, Nehra played alongside some of the best in-ring and outfielders, those with great throwing arms and a few with all these traits. From sharing field space with Jonty himself, alongside his ex-teammates Herschelle Gibbs and AB de Villiers, and not to forget the dynamite Australian pair of Ricky Ponting and Andrew Symonds, Nehra perhaps has witnessed greatness from close quarters.

&ldquo;But I would put Jadeja ahead of them. It's not because of his age. When he came in 2008-09 and now, he is still the same. It is his fitness, I don't know what he eats. If he is eating something different, he should tell us,&rdquo; Nehra explained.
<h2>Gill drops hints on Rabada&rsquo;s return</h2>
GT captain Shubman Gill provided a massive update on his team&rsquo;s ace overseas seamer, Kagiso Rabada, who left the camp midway through the tournament to head home for personal reasons.&nbsp;

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the schedule for both men&rsquo;s and women&rsquo;s cricket at the LA28 Games, to be played in the T20 format as a six-team tournament.&nbsp;
Unlike how it happens in international cricket, where England, Ireland and Scotland play as three separate cricket teams, all three will have to club together to form one team of a maximum of 15 players - set by the IOC, for men&rsquo;s and women&rsquo;s competitions, but the governing body hasn&rsquo;t finalised the qualification process yet.
&ldquo;So it&rsquo;s really interesting, the six teams for us, we would have an opportunity through the GB concept. So, exciting times, and we&rsquo;ll continue to liaise with the ECB and our colleagues at LA 2028 and ICC. It will be interesting,&rdquo; Lindblade said.
Meanwhile, Pomona, a city in the Western part of the US, will host the cricket tournament at the LA28 Games.
&ldquo;Cricket (T20) is a hugely popular global sport and will be included in the LA28 Games. A temporary venue will be built at the Pomona Fairplex to host the cricket matches,&rdquo; the LA28 organising committee said earlier this week.

Nine years later, the rain returned. So did the rivalry. But this time, Punjab Kings wrote their tale under the clouds.

The left-hander counter-attacked with a blistering 33* off 19 balls. Two towering sixes off Suyash Sharma turned the momentum Punjab's way, before Marcus Stoinis sealed the deal with a boundary in the 12th over.
By this win, Punjab are now in the second position of the points table. Whereas RCB, losing the third match of this season, all at home, have managed to be in the top 4.
Thus, in 2016, when Chinnaswamy echoed Kohli's heroics, it now stood silent with Punjab's storm.

Rohit admitted feeling surreal (over this) and that he remains grateful to the association for honouring him. Meanwhile, following a recent general body meeting on Tuesday (Apr 15), the MCA decided to name the Level 3 stand of the Divecha Pavilion at the Wankhede after Rohit Sharma.
&ldquo;Now to sit back and think that there is going to be a stadium stand in my game, it is such an unreal feeling. It is something that I have never thought of, and I will be forever grateful for this big honour in my life," Rohit said while unveiling the third edition of T20 Mumbai - an IPL-style franchise-based league of the MCA.
Rohit said he never imagined coming this far in his cricket career when he made his debut, let alone thinking about having a stand after him. The Indian skipper, who led the Men in Blue to two different ICC titles in two years, admitted feeling emotional seeing his name on the stands.

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/cristiano-ronaldo" rel="dofollow">Cristiano Ronaldo</a>&rsquo;s son will not be shy of options in choosing which country to play for should he pursue football. Tipped to at least partially replicate his father&rsquo;s decorated footballing career, if not entirely, once he turns professional, Cristiano Ronaldo&rsquo;s son, currently playing within Al-Nassr&rsquo;s academy, is eligible to represent three different countries.
At a time when Ronaldo was plying his trade in Italy (<a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/juventus" rel="dofollow">Juventus</a>) and England (<a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/manchester-united" rel="dofollow">Manchester United</a>) after his super successful spell at Real Madrid (Spain), his son Cristiano Jr. was part of youth teams at both clubs before moving to the Middle East following his dad&rsquo;s world record transfer in 2022. Several reports also suggested that Ronaldo&rsquo;s eldest son trained two years above his age group upon arriving at Al-Nassr.
Following roaming around the globe exploring countless avenues, Cristiano Ronaldo&rsquo;s son has a chance to represent not one but three countries at the national level &ndash; Portugal, Spain and the US.
<h2>How can Cristiano Ronaldo&rsquo;s son play for three countries?</h2>
Ronaldo Jr can play for Portugal through his father&rsquo;s nationality, of course, and even qualifies for Spain after spending several of his growing-up years in the country, where his father tasted enormous success at the top-level football, winning countless trophies, including the coveted Champions League title three times on the trot.&nbsp;

Regarding Spain, a FIFA rule permits eligibility, as he spent three years or beyond in the country before turning 10.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, the US could also reach out to him, as Ronaldo Jr was born in California and is thus eligible to represent the country.
However, any chances of him remaining eligible to play for England ended quickly as, for that, he would have to spend at least five years in the country to qualify; but since his birth, he could spend only a couple in the UK before his father&rsquo;s fallout with Manchester United saw him switch continents soon after.
<h3>'No pressure on him'</h3>
Although Ronaldo Jr is keen on turning professional and pursuing football following his father&rsquo;s footsteps, Cristiano Ronaldo is not keen to put too much pressure on his son.
"This generation, it is difficult to tell them something and let them do it,' Ronaldo said last year, as quoted by British outlet The Mirror. "They will always see their daddy as an example; they see me every day in what I do, at home, in training, or in a game. They see me work a lot.
"Right, in this moment, Cristiano wants to be a football player, but I don't make big pressure, I make a little. He's 14 years old, he has pressure already to be the son of Cristiano [senior]. Let him do his own mistakes, but I hope that in the future he can be a professional player.
"If he doesn't become a player, maybe another job, but I will always support him. We cannot put pressure on our sons because we are famous,&rdquo; he added.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said he would bet on Kai Havertz returning before the end of the season as his recovery from a hamstring injury is ahead of schedule.
The German international had initially been ruled out for the campaign after having surgery on the injury suffered during a Dubai warm-weather training camp in February.

Arsenal have survived the loss of both Havertz and Gabriel Jesus to make the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2009 with a famous 5-1 aggregate victory over Real Madrid.
Arteta cooled speculation Havertz could return in time to face Paris Saint-Germain in the last four.
But he is on track to be available should Arsenal get the final in Munich on May 31.
"For the semi-finals? I think that is too close," said Arteta.
"But if I have to bet on him (being available) earlier than expected I would say: 'Yes'.
"The way he works, every day he is in the gym, pushing everybody, and I don't think you can hold him back any longer."
Arsenal's European run has softened the blow of seeing their Premier League title challenge peter out.
The Gunners are on course to finish second for a third consecutive season.
But they trail Liverpool by 13 points with just six games remaining.
The title could be sealed as early as Sunday should Liverpool beat Leicester and Arsenal lose at struggling Ipswich.
Arteta is keen to avoid that scenario and warned against easing up in the league with Champions League qualification for next season not yet confirmed.
"We'll make sure that we win the game and that doesn't happen," added the Spaniard on the possibility of Liverpool winning the league on Sunday.
"We need to step up and start to win the games."
