New Delhi: Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) led by Maulana Masood Azhar is using Pakistani digital wallets like EasyPaisa and SadaPay to raise PKR 3.91 billion (approximately $14 million) for constructing 313 new training centres, or markaz, across Pakistan, according to an Indian assessment. In what is seen as “digital hawala”, money is being transferred to digital wallets used by Masood Azhar’s family members. Several social media posts have been intercepted as well, urging the need to raise funds with the aim of building new training centres. Use of digital spaces to fund terrorism is not new. In fact, a July report of FATF, quoting the Indian finance ministry, said that online payment services are being used to fund terror attacks. Pakistan’s government, under its 2019 National Action Plan, claimed to have dismantled JeM’s financial networks and placed the bank accounts of Masood Azhar and his brothers, Rauf Asghar and Talha Al Saif under official watch. The UNSC-listed terror group switched to digital wallets, which operate outside traditional banking systems and evade FATF’s SWIFT-based monitoring. On May 7, India launched “Operation Sindoor” and obliterated Markaz Subhanallah and four other JeM camps, killing 14, including Azhar’s brother-in-law and nephew. Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, on Sunday (Aug 17), repeated claims that the nation downed six Indian aircraft during the brief military confrontation between the two nations in May, claiming that Islamabad had “video proof”. However, he did not, once again, provide any details to back the assertion.
Pakistan PM's warning
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday (Aug 13) said that "a lesson will be taught" to the "enemy" if they continue to stop the Indus waters. India has put the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. Moreover, he warned that if his country were ever pushed to the brink in a conflict with India, it would "take half the world down" with it. To this, Owaisi reacted in a post on X, saying, "Pakistan Army Chief's threats & language against India are condemnable," adding that his doing this from the US soil makes it worse. "It deserves a Political response from the Modi government & not just the MEA statement, the Government must lodge their protest and raise the issue with the US strongly," he added.

India has put the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. The Pakistani PM said that India cannot snatch a drop of water from Pakistan. The neighbouring country has been claiming that stopping the Indus waters would be considered 'an act of war.' "I want to tell the enemy today that if you threaten to hold our water, then keep this in mind that you cannot snatch even one drop of Pakistan...You will be again taught such a lesson that you will be left holding your ears,” news agency PTI quoted Sharif as saying at a ceremony in Islamabad. A day ago, former Pakistan foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari issued another war threat against India. Continuing with his old tirade, he said that if India continues with its suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, then Pakistanis "won't bow and they will confront." He also claimed that Pakistan has gone to the world and spoken about peace, while India spoke about war. Speaking at a private black-tie dinner in Tampa hosted for businessman Adnan Asad, Munir said Pakistan is a nuclear power and would use its arsenal if necessary. He also said that India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty could put hundreds of millions at risk of starvation.Meanwhile, Munir was also trolled online for comparing India to a 'shining Mercedes' while calling his country a ‘dump truck.’ According to a report in The Print, Munir said, “I am going to use a crude analogy to explain the situation. India is shining Mercedes coming on a highway like Ferrari [sic], but we are a dump truck full of gravel. If the truck hits the car, who is going to be the loser?” Munir may have intended to praise Pakistan as a less-refined but stronger neighbour to India, but his choice of words backfired and the netizens were quick to troll him. In trying to cast Pakistan as powerful despite lacking India’s polish, Munir instead sparked a wave of mockery on social media, where many users claimed his analogy implied India was superior.

The army chief also poked at India's recent trade disputes with the US and joked about Pakistan's diplomatic balancing skills, even saying his country nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Prize. "The real reason for our success is that we are not misers. If someone does good work, we praise and appreciate them. That is why we nominated President Donald Trump for the Nobel Prize," he said. Munir was in Tampa for the change of command at US Central Command, meeting with US military leaders, including Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine. This was Munir’s second trip to the US since clashes with India in Operation Sindoor. His visit included a private lunch with Trump, after which the two announced expanded cooperation, including an oil deal.

Pakistan army chief Asim Munir, during a US visit, threatened nuclear retaliation against India, saying his country will “take half the world down.” He also vowed to destroy future Indian dams on the Indus while making multiple provocative remarks about India.

India's Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi, revealed details about Operation Sindoor, describing it as a 'game of chess'. While speaking at IIT Madras, he mentioned that during Operation Sindoor, they played chess. The Army chief stressed that they did not know what Pakistan's next move was going to be, and hence what they would do."In Operation Sindoor, we played chess... We did not know what the enemy's next move was going to be, and what we were going to do. This is called greyzone," he said, at the inauguration of Agnishodh, the Indian Army's Research Cell at IIT Madras. The Army chief further explained what a Greyzone is. “It means that we are not going for the conventional operations. What we are doing is just short of a conventional operation... We were making the chess moves, and he (the enemy) was also making the chess moves. Somewhere we were giving them the checkmate and somewhere we were going in for the kill at the risk of losing our own, but that's life is all about...”

He then said that the planning for the Operation Sindoor began on April 23, the day after the Pahalgam terror attack, which shook the nation. The Army chief recalled that it was the first time Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, "Enough is enough" and gave the "free hand" to the Army."All three chiefs were very clear that something had to be done. On April 29, we met the Prime Minister for the first time...," he stated. Then the Army chief sheds light on the significance of the name "Operation Sindoor", he said, "It is important that a small name, Op Sindoor, connects the whole nation...
Pakistan and earthquake
Pakistan is one of the most seismically active countries in the world and therefore earthquakes in the country are mostly very destructive. Provinces such as Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan lie on the southern edge of the Eurasian plate, while Sindh and Punjab are located on the northwestern edge of the Indian plate, contributing to frequent earthquake activity. The country's geography makes certain regions more prone to earthquakes, such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Balochistan is located near the active boundary between the Arabian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Other vulnerable regions, such as Punjab, which lies on the northwestern edge of the Indian plate, are susceptible to seismic activity. Sindh, though less prone, is still at risk due to its location. One of the most significant earthquakes in Pakistan's history happened in Balochistan in 1945. In May, Pakistan was hit by as many as seven earthquakes. The timing of these earthquakes coincided with Pakistan's tensions with India after Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack. Speculations arose about the Pakistani Army's activities as tremors were felt in several places within a couple of days. From May 5 to May 30, Pakistani cities were struck by quakes of various magnitudes between 4 on the Richter scale to 4.4.

Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch has issued a warning to the United States President Donald Trump in an open letter, telling him that he had been “gravely misled” about the “massive oil reserves” in Pakistan by General Asim Munir and Islamabad’s diplomatic channels. The reserves of oil, natural gas, copper, lithium, uranium, and rare earth minerals are not located in Pakistan and belong to the “Republic of Balochistan”, he wrote. “Your recognition of the vast oil and mineral reserves in the region is indeed accurate. In a big diplomatic win for India, the Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group, has found mention for the first time in a UN Security Council (UNSC) report for its role in the Pahalgam attack. The report by the UNSC's Monitoring Team (MT) quoted one unnamed member state as saying that the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir could not have happened without Lashkar-e-Taiba's (LeT) support and that there was a relationship between the "LeT and The Resistance Front (TRF). This comes days after the US designated TRF as a terror organisation that works with Pakistan-based Lashkar. This also marks the first mention of the LeT and Pakistan-based terror groups in the report since 2019. "The attack was claimed that same day by The Resistance Front (TRF), which in parallel published a photograph of the attack site. The claim of responsibility was repeated the following day," the UN report said. There is a risk that terrorist groups may exploit these regional tensions. One member State said the attack could not have happened without LeT's support, and that there was a relationship between LeT and TRF. "Another member state said the attack was carried out by TRF, which was synonymous with LeT. One member state rejected these views and said that LeT was defunct," the report added.
What Amit Shah said about the Pahalgam attack in the parliament?
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday (July 29, 2025) said in the Lok Sabha that the three terrorists killed in Operation Mahadev in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday were those who carried out the Pahalgam strike. “The three terrorists who killed our civilians at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam have been killed,” the Minister said. Since local residents in Jammu and Kashmir are not joining the militant ranks, Pakistan is sending terrorists from across the border to strike terror, he added. “We ensured that the terrorists do not flee to Pakistan,” Shah said in his speech during the Operation Sindoor debate. The Resistance Front (TRF) is an offshoot of the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The group reportedly came into being after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) banned TRF, all its forms and front groups in January 2023. The MHA also declared the TRF a terrorist group under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

Big win for India as key UNSC report mentions TRF as Pahalgam terror attackers: Here's what it says

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that India exposed Pakistan’s nuclear bluff by launching Operation Sindoor and proved that Islamabad’s nuclear threats were hollow as Indian forces hit deep and hard and targeted locations that had never been attacked before. Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the debate on Operation Sindoor, PM Modi said that the Indian forces exposed Pakistan’s nuclear blackmail as insufficient and added that such nuclear threats will never work, nor will India bow to them in the future. “India has proved that nuclear blackmailing will not work anymore, and neither will India bow down to this nuclear blackmailing. The Pakistan Army on Sunday (July 28) opened fire on Pashtun protesters in the Tirah valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing seven and injuring more than twenty. Pashtun community members had gathered at Tirah Valley to protest the death of a child who died due to mortar firing by these protesters. As per multiple reports, the Pakistan Army opened fire on protesters after the death of the child. The Pakistan Army is facing criticism for its abuse of power and use of legal and administrative systems to suppress the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) — a peaceful movement advocating for Pashtun human rights. The relationship between Pashtuns and Pakistan is complex, marked by both shared nationality and ethnic identity, as well as tensions and political movements. Pashtuns are the largest ethnic group in Afghanistan and a significant minority in Pakistan, primarily residing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. While many Pashtuns in Pakistan identify as Pakistani citizens, there's also a growing sense of Pashtun nationalism and a movement advocating for their rights and recognition within the country. Earlier in May, the Pakistan Army allegedly launched drone attacks on Pashtun homes, killing civilians. Last year, Amnesty International stated that the Pakistan government’s ban on the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) and the use of anti-terrorism laws to target activists and peaceful protesters from minority groups is an affront to the rights to freedom of association and peaceful assembly in the country. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), a human rights body of Balochistan, also condemned Pashtun "genocide" by the Pakistan government highlighting the drone attacks on civilian homes and the brutal massacre of children. "We strongly condemn the drone strikes on civilian homes, the brutal massacre of children and the Pashtun genocide in North Waziristan. The Pashtun land has been subjected to state repression, violence and military brutality for the past several decades. We consider this a clear and systematic Pashtun genocide without any interpretation or vague explanation," read a statement issued by the BYC. This is a developing story.

Pakistan Army opens fire on Pashtun protesters, killing seven, injuring more than 20: Here's what happened

Pakistan have reportedly once again failed with the test of MIRV-capable Ababeel Missile. According to a report by Indian Defence News and Indian Defence Research Wing, the projectile crashed near Dera Bugti in Balochistan. However, no official verification has been provided from Pakistan. According to the report, Pakistan test-launched a version of the Ababeel medium‑range ballistic missile, designed to be MIRV-capable. The test, however, failed with a malfunction during flight, most likely in the propulsion system or structural integrity. The debris of the missile crash was reportedly seen at the Dera Bugti area in Balochistan.

The debris circulating on Pakistani social media appears to be the second stage of Pakistan’s Ababeel missile. If I can get access to a video of the debris, I’ll be able to conduct a more detailed analysis. These are only initial observations. pic.twitter.com/rfr9krZSOk— Alpha Defense™🇮🇳 (@alpha_defense) July 22, 2025

The event is not new as Pakistan has previously publicly tested Ababeel missile in January 2017, claiming MIRV capability. However, analysts later concluded that the MIRV capability could not be independently verified. It was assumed that the missile likely shared components with other solid-fuel systems and did not conclusively demonstrate multiple re-entry vehicles. Subsequent tests such as those of October 2023, which were officially called successful, but according to open-source investigations (OSINT) and eyewitness accounts, ended in failure.
What is MIRV? Why is it difficult for a nuclear-powered nation to get it right?
Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicle or MIRV is a ballistic missile with multiple nuclear warheads that can be aimed and deployed at multiple targets. A simpler analogy would be a nuclear shotgun in space. Each MIRV has to carry multiple nukes, which means the country needs to design and test small-yield, compact nuclear warheads, a major technological challenge. So countries need to miniaturise and shrink them, which is a hard engineering feat. Each warhead must re-enter the atmosphere and navigate to a separate target. That kind of targeting accuracy is hard to achieve at high speed. Post-Boost Vehicle (PBV) carries the warheads and releases them toward different trajectories, enabling manoeuvre in space and course correction. It is just like rocket science on steroids.
Strategic Implication
The test was closely monitored by US intelligence, including use of RC‑135S Cobra Ball aircraft, from the Arabian Sea region, underscoring global concern. But subsequent reports of failure highlight persistent technical issues in Pakistan's military deployment. Pakistan views Ababeel, with a perceived range of up to 2,200 km, as essential to counter India's S-400 missile defence. Even though no confirmed statement has come from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations yet. The failure to deploy the MIRV missile systems reflects a common pattern of official statements that contrasts with observed results on the ground.

Reports from open-source investigations (OSINT) network suggest that Pakistan's MIRV-capable Ababeel missile test has failed again. The debris of the crash observed in Dera Bugti region of Balochistan was circulating in the Pakistani social media.

Reports from open-source investigations (OSINT) network suggest that Pakistan's MIRV-capable Ababeel missile test has failed again. The debris of the crash observed in Dera Bugti region of Balochistan was circulating in the Pakistani social media.

After Trump won the presidential elections in December 2024, Grenell made a series of statements and penned tweets, including a viral “Free Imran Khan!” post on X. He criticised the policies of ex-president Joe Biden’s administration toward Pakistan, particularly its handling of the country’s missile programme and Imran’s imprisonment. Subsequently, Pakistan’s political and diplomatic machinery in the US ramped up efforts to engage with the new Congress. Last week, during a congressional hearing on Pakistan, Republican Congressman Christopher H. Smith suggested that the US Congress may soon urge Trump to consider imposing sanctions on countries that suppress religious freedom and violate human rights. Speakers at the hearing also discussed the rights situation in Pakistan. Although the Pakistan government has not commented officially on Imran’s sons, Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik had said that Article 16 of the Constitution, which grants the right to gather, was applicable to citizens and foreigners are not allowed to assemble in Pakistan. Malik also said that the two brothers could not legally participate in local political activity as they were British nationals, and that if they “violate the visa conditions, the visa can be cancelled”.

A video of the murder of a couple in the southwestern province of Balochistan by a group of men has gone viral on social media. Pakistani authorities have arrested at least 13 individuals, including a tribal leader, in what is being called a case of honour killing. In the video, the couple surrounded by men in the mountainous terrain of Balochistan are seen forced out of a vehicle at gunpoint. They are then shot dead at close range. As per reports, the man and the woman were having an affair, which led to an alleged honour killing by members of their families and the tribe. Police are investigating the matter and a local court has ordered that the bodies be exhumed for autopsy.
What is in the video and what the FIR says?
According to The Guardian, the people in the video speak in the local Brahavi language. The woman is handed a copy of the Qur’an. Then the woman says to the man, “Come, walk seven steps with me, after that you can shoot me.” He follows her for a few steps before she adds, “You are allowed only to shoot me. Nothing more than that.” The meaning of her final statement remains unclear. The man then raises a pistol as she turns her back to him and shoots her dead. The video then cuts to a bloodied man lying near the woman’s body. Several men are seen shooting at the couple’s bloodied bodies as they lie motionless. The first information report(FIR) in the case identifies the man as Ehsan Ullah and the woman as Bano Bibi. Some reports also claimed that they were married and their relationship came into the public eye in May this year. The undated video is said to be from May. WION cannot independently verify the authenticity of the video. As per the FIR, the couple was allegedly brought before local tribal leader Sardar Sherbaz Khan, who declared them guilty of engaging in an “immoral relationship” and ordered that they be killed.
What Balochistan police and CM said about the case?
Balochistan police official Syed Suboor Agha told media that they are investigating the matter and are likely to make more arrests, including Bano’s brother, who is suspected of the murders and “is still at large”. “The police have identified a number of people in the video,” provincial police chief Mozzam Jah Anssri added. Meanwhile, Balochistan’s chief minister, Sarfaraz Bugti, said the tribal council had accused the victims of having an illicit affair. Bugti added that both the man and the woman were married to other people and had several children from those marriages, contradicting earlier reports that they had recently married each other against their families’ wishes.
Honour killings in Pakistan
Cases of honour killings have increased in Pakistan, specially in the past two years. According to Sustainable Social Development Organisation (SSDO), an Islamabad-based independent organisation, more than 32,000 cases of gender-based violence were reported nationwide in 2024, including 547 instances of “honour killings” – 32 of them in Balochistan and only one resulting in a conviction. Rights activist Sammi Deen Baloch, also a member of a Baloch women’s rights group, said killing of women has become “a matter of routine” in the province. “In Balochistan, women are murdered for love, disappeared for protest, and buried under layers of tribal authority and state-backed silence. These are not isolated tragedies. They are the cost of a system designed to keep Balochistan obedient, and its women expendable,” Al Jazeera quoted her saying.
