Kolkata horror: RG Kar Hospital's ex-principal sold 'unclaimed' dead bodies, claims colleague

The state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital's former principal Sandip Ghosh, who has been under the scanner in the horrific case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in the hospital in the Indian city of Kolkata, was allegedly carrying out various illegal activities, which included selling dead bodies, as claimed by the hospital's former employee.
Dr Sandip Ghosh, who is being investigated in the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor, went through various interrogation sessions where he was asked why he handed the body to the parents of the victim after three hours.
Speaking to India Today, RG Kar Medical College's former deputy superintendent Akhtar Ali claimed that Sandip Ghosh was carrying out the trafficking of medical supplies and biomedical waste to Bangladesh.

He claimed that Ghosh was involved in the "business with unclaimed dead bodies".
"Sandip Ghosh used to do business with unclaimed dead bodies. A case was also registered against him. He was also involved in trafficking biomedical waste. He used to sell it to the people who were part of his additional security. It was then sent to Bangladesh," said the former deputy superintendent.

Sandip Ghosh's former colleague claims former took bribes from students
According to a report published by India Today, Akhtar Ali claimed that Ghosh took bribes from students to clear theirexaminations.
"Some students were deliberately made to fail. So that he could recover the money," he said and added that Ghoshalso collected 20 per cent commission on each tender.
Ali said that he brought to the fore Ghosh's illegal activities in front of the state vigilance commission and as also part of the enquiry committee which was set up to investigate Ghosh.

He added that even after Gosh was found guilty in the investigation, no action was taken against him.
He said that theinquiry report was submitted by him to the state health departmentbecause of which he was transferred from RG Kar Hospital on the same day.
A trainee doctor was brutally raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital which led to a massive uproar across Indiaas doctors took to the streetsdemandingjustice and the safety of their fellow doctors.
