The Indian high commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria, who was called here for consultations on February 15 - a day after Pulwama attack, will return to Islamabad on Saturday and resume duties.

The spokesperson of the ministry of external affairs Raveesh Kumar in a statement said, "High Commissioner of India to Pakistan, Ajay Bisaria, is returning to Islamabad after having completed his consultations in India."

It is important to note, the Pakistani high commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood who was also called back to Islamabad for consultations will be back in Delhi today. He will be coming via the Wagah border.

The Pakistani foreign office on Tuesday in a statement said, "Pakistan's High Commissioner to India will be returning to New Delhi, after completion of consultations in Islamabad."

Before coming to Delhi, Sohail Mahmood met Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday.

Many will see the development as a positive step and a move towards de-escalation.

The relationship between the two countries had deteriorated after the 14th February Pulwama terror attack whose responsibility was taken by Pakistan based UN-listed terror group Jaish e Mohammad (JeM).

In the aftermath of the terror attack, India launches non-military strikes on JeM terror camps in Balakot to which Pakistan responded by attacking Indian military installations.
