BJP leader JP Nadda took the oath of office at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi to serve as a Union Cabinet minister in the NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (June 9).
Earlier today, a group of politicians including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Shivraj Singh Chouhangatheredat the PM-designate Narendra Modi'sresidence for a tea meeting.
From 2014 until 2019, Nadda oversaw the health ministry in PM Modi's first government. He became the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2020, replacing Union Home Minister and main strategist Amit Shah.
In September 2022, four months before Nadda's term as party leader was about to end, he was offered an extension that would extend until the end of this year's general election.
Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party gained 240 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, falling 32 shy of the halfway threshold, however the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of which BJP is a part secured 293seats and crossed the 272 mark to form the government.
