In a recently done interview, Urfi Javed talks about her content creation journey with MOJ, her love for acting, and many more. Read on! How did you make your entry into the entertainment industry? I was an actor first , I became a content creator later . I had already worked in a few serials ! Gradually I started making videos to pass my time in between shoots and then in the lockdown I started stitching clothes and that got me recognition. Then, Big Boss happened. I didn't take time to say yes to Bigg Boss. I had seen Bigg Boss since childhood and I was excited to be a part of it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Urfi (@urf7i) × How has your journey been as a content creator? I am enjoying this alot. I have been very passionate about creating content and want to continue more content as I go along. I want to entertain my fans through this. I am still learning and growing. Would you say your time as a content creator helped you make bigger leaps in this industry? Yes, I want to keep working hard & take one day at a time and see what comes to me and how I respond to it. I am very excited for the present actually, I just want to keep working and welcome all the opportunities that come to me. I would say content creation gave me a lot of learning on acting and entertainment. Now that you have made it to the Bigg Boss house, what's next for you? As I said I was an actor first and that is my first love. My first priority is acting but I would never leave content creation because I love fashion and making videos too! I can do both.
Passion and the need to reinvent himself is what drives MOJ content creator Himanshu Srivastav. When he is not dancing, he is observing life and writing poems about it. In his recent interview, the winner of Super Star Hunt--a content creation competition--spoke about his desire to experiment with all things creative and the tricks to gaining more followers. How did you get into content creation? What inspired you to choose a short-video app over other platforms?

I still remember when I did a dance performance on stage for the first time, after my performance I noticed a different enthusiasm in the public, there was a different kind of happiness on their faces. That day I felt as if I had shared happiness among people through my dance. This inspired me. And on that day the artist in me was born. In the world of entertainment, the artist makes you laugh and makes you cry, he/ she plays many characters in the same life. And through his/ her art, teaches people a lot and does all that we probably cannot do in our real life. Seeing all this, the entertainment world started motivating me a lot. I chose to become a content creator because sometimes I also like to write poetry and stories. And what I see in my real life, what I hear, I try to translate everything into my poetry and stories so that people can relate more to it. Whether it is writing a poem or choreographing a dance - be it acting or editing, I love to experiment and create new things. I try to do all these experiments so that I can make myself a better content creator.

What was it like winning the Super Star Hunt?

This is my first success after winning the Moj Superstar Hunt and I am seeing myself in social media and in the news. Today people recognise me and my family. My idol and inspiration is Remo D'Souza sir. I have learned a lot by reading about his life and watching him. Infact, not only me but every dancer is motivated by his life journey. I was very happy when I got to know that he is going to judge the Moj Superstar Hunt and when I reached the final, I performed on his song Vande Mataram and he commented on my dance and gave me 10 points. This moment was the most beautiful moment of my life.

What are your future plans?

My dream is to become a very good actor and dancer one day. And in my a small village, I want to help the talented people to make sure they get a platform. I want to do this for my Garatganj and encourage people to support every talent tomorrow whether it is boy or girl. I want to change society’s thinking regarding dance, especially in small places in the villages.

Do you think aspiring artists can find their way to success by showcasing their talent on content-curation platforms? If yes, then what tips would you give them to increase their following and to get noticed?

So I would like to tell my followers that you have 15 to 30 seconds to prove yourself. 15 to 30 seconds is very little to hear but you work so hard for that 15 to 30 seconds that you can reach people's hearts. I believe that my efforts are my biggest hope. So you guys also keep doing new experiments, keep trying new things and don't think about the result. If you work hard with your heart, then the result will definitely be good. If you want to be popular then you have to make a place in people's heart and a place is always made by hard work. The more experiments you do, the more new you try, the better you will get. Just believe in hard work and try to give your hundred percent.

Passion and the need to reinvent himself is what drives MOJ content creator Himanshu Srivastav. When he is not dancing, he is observing life and writing poems about it.

Read on! Himanshu Srivastav: I experiment with dance and poetry to be a better content creator

Indian legendary comedian-actor Johny Lever's daughter, Jamie Lever, is a social media star now and her funny, spot-on content has made her viral. Yet again!

Her latest Instagram reel has caught people's attention as she mimicks Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor in it. To make the act look real, Jamie wore sindoor (vermilion) and Sonam-like statement jewelry, and completed the look with a low tight bun.

Popular series 'Rick and Morty' is still enjoying the success of its fifth season and the next season doesn't come out in a while. But, worry not!

Reportedly, channel Adult Swim will air an all-new Halloween special of their hit series titled 'The Great Yokai Battle of Akihabara' on October 10 with a recap scheduled for October 16. It will have 'Rick and Morty' coming and doing their fun bit in between.

Although the creators of 'Rick and Morty' and Adult Swim are tight-lipped about what's going to happen in the upcoming short and where will it air, schedules out of Toonami and Adult Swim Canada showed the date and time early per the CN schedules Twitter account.

A rare collection of sketches and paintings by American boxer Muhammad Ali - who loved to draw between fights - is going up for auction in New York next week.

The 24-piece collection, many of them in cartoon style and some of them signed, reflect Ali`s interest in religion and social justice, but there are also some that picture him in the ring.

"Ref, he did float like a butterfly and sting like a bee!" reads the speech bubble from a boxer knocked out by an opponent with his arms raised in victory.

The painting, called "Sting Like a Bee," was made by Ali in 1978 during the filming of the historical mini series "Freedom Road" in which he starred, Bonhams auctioneers said. It is expected to fetch $40,000 - $60,000 at the sale on Oct. 5.

Bonhams said Ali`s passion for drawing was little known, but he liked to sketch as a way of unwinding after a fight or training.

"A lot of people are excited because no one knew he was an artist and no one knew about this treasure trove of artwork. So we`re seeing a lot of interest and a lot of excitement," said Helen Hall, director of popular culture at Bonhams.

The works for sale come from the collection of Rodney Hilton Brown, who worked with Ali on his art.

The former world heavyweight champion, who announced his conversion to Islam in 1964 at the height of his career, died in 2016 at age 74 after a long battle with Parkinson`s disease.

"The Starving Children of Mississippi," from 1967, shows a figure in shorts saying "I only wanted to fight to help feed you poor Black kids."

"There`s one that references the race riots in L.A. and Newark in `65 and `67," said Hall. "One of the paintings is devoted to Islam. He had just recently converted. And then some of them have a lighter tone and relate to boxing."

Other works include "America: The Big Jail" from 1967, and "War in America" which has a pre-sale estimate of $25,000 to $35,000.

Over the years, studies have suggested that people who consume coffee have a lower risk of experiencing severe health hazards.

So, in order to celebrate International Coffee Day, let's take a look at the health benefits coffee can provide:

ENHANCED ENERGY LEVELS AND MAKE ONE SMARTER

As we all know, coffee contains the stimulant caffeine which also happens to be the most consumed psychoactive substance in the world. When caffeine reaches your brain, neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and dopamine increase, which ultimately lead to enhanced firing of neurons. Controlled study on humans have shown coffee intake boosts mood and memory, too.

HELP BURN THOSE CALORIES

Studies have shown that caffeine has fat-burning properties and can enhance your metabolic rate by 3-11 per cent. Other studies have claimed that caffeine can increase fat-burning by 10 per cent amongst the obese population and by 29 per cent among thin people.

IMPROVES PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE

Coffee increases epinephrine (adrenaline) levels in our blood, which is the fight-or-flight hormone and prepares the body for physical exertion. Thus, improving one's physical performance by 11-12 per cent.

HOME TO NUTRIENTS

Caffeine is home to various nutrients, such as Riboflavin, Pantothenic acid, Manganese and potassium and Magnesium and niacin. Although they are present in small amounts, it still matters when a person consumes more than one cup of coffee a day and the number shoots up.

Ana Navarro, 'The View' co-host, took to Instagram on Saturday to let her followers know that she has taken three Covid-19 tests and that they have all come negative.

On Friday, Navarro and Sunny Hostin had tested positive while on air on for 'The View'. Both of them had tested positive for the virus, which was a massive blow to their then upcoming interview with Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris.

All three have been negative," she said in her Instagram clip. Lake Maracaibo, lightning capital of the world

Located 1,000 km from Riyadh, in North-West Saudi Arabia, AlUla is a place of extraordinary natural and human heritage. The vast area, covering 22,561km², includes a lush oasis valley, towering sandstone mountains and ancient cultural heritage sites dating back thousands of years to when the Lihyan and Nabataean kingdoms reigned. The most well-known and recognised site in AlUla is Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site

A 52-hectare ancient city, Hegra was the principal southern city of the Nabataean Kingdom and is comprised of 111 well-preserved tombs, many with elaborate facades cut out of the sandstone outcrops surrounding the walled urban settlement.

In addition to Hegra, AlUla is also home to ancient Dadan, the capital of the Dadan and Lihyan Kingdoms and considered to be one of the most developed 1st millennium BCE cities of the Arabian Peninsula. AlUla Old Town, a labyrinth of more than 900 mudbrick homes developed from at least the 12th century.

In 1983, the last family left the Old Town of AlUla, and after that, the homes and marts that once witnessed bustles of life were doomed to face perennial silence. A city that thousands of years ago was the heart of an extraordinary cosmopolitan drew its last breath with the departure of its last inhabitants. While it could be the epitaph of the Old Town of AlUla, the city refused to die.

Sounds more like a story from the Arabian Nights? It all may appear as a wild imagination, but thankfully, it is a reality.

Maraya

The word Maraya means ‘mirror’ or ‘reflection’ in Arabic, a fitting name for a structure with 9,740 sq.mt of mirrors. Maraya, AlUla's multi-purpose conference and entertainment venue, is an architectural marvel that has been designed to reflect AlUla’s beautiful landscape. It is a modern wonder in a land of ancient wonders, and is AlUla's answer to MICE, business and wedding travellers globally. Maraya emerged as the centrepiece in one of AlUla’s premier cultural festivals – Winter at Tantora. The next year, Maraya Concert Hall hosted world-class performances, VIP experiences and pop-up events, including concerts by global superstars Andrea Bocelli, Lionel Richie, Enrique Iglesias, and many others.
While AlUla presents itself as a global cultural centre, there is much more than that in reality. The dessert hosts exquisite nature-made sculptures, sandstone mountains forming mesmerising landscapes, adventures, heritage, arts and culture. One needs to experience AlUla to truly appreciate its beauty. There’s also a sense of openness, vastness and quiet that invites visitors to wander in AlUla’s living museum. From mazes of dramatic rock formations to rolling, sand-swept dunes to a valley cloaked in palm and citrus groves to millennia-old clues in basalt lava flows, be sure to leave plenty of time in your AlUla itinerary to commune with its expansive natural offerings.

Birthday blunder: Nicole Richie's hair catches fire while blowing out candles on her 40th

For almost 60 years, the artist known as Christo dreamed of wrapping the Arc de Triomphe. As a young man, having fled communist Bulgaria, he would gaze at the monument from his tiny garret apartment. A photomontage dated 1962 shows the 164-foot-high arch crudely bundled up. Freedom trumped the sacred. He always wanted people to look again at what perhaps they did not see.

Now, a little over a year after Christo’s death at the age of 84, “L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped” is a reality. About 270,000 square feet of silvery blue fabric, shimmering in the changing light of Paris, hugs the monument commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 at the giddy height of his power. The polypropylene material, its tone reminiscent of the city’s distinctive zinc roofs, is secured but not held rigidly fast by almost 1.9 miles of red rope, in line with the artist’s meticulous instructions.

“He wanted a living object that, with its moving folds, would turn the monument’s surface into something sensual,” Vladimir Yavachev, Christo’s nephew and project director, told me. Suddenly, at the top of the Champs Élysées, a magical pale object beckons, its glistening lightness anchored by steel slabs weighing 150 tons. The effect is at once disorienting and riveting.

Yavachev moved from New York to Paris two years ago to lead the project. The work has been arduous. France’s League for the Protection of Birds expressed concern about two falcons nesting high in the facade. That led to a first delay, before the pandemic caused a second.

Bastille Day, on July 14, and Armistice Day, on Nov. 11, when ceremonies take place at the monument, left a limited window. Building the cages whose steel bars pass an inch or two from the outstretched hand or foot of a frieze or a funereal relief was painstaking. So was rappelling down to work under the overhangs of the cornice. In all, 1,200 people labored on the wrapping.

“It was difficult, stressful,” lead engineer Sebastien Roger said as we stood under the arch. “You have to be careful, it’s the Arc de Triomphe after all!”

From its official opening Saturday through Oct. 3, the arch has in fact become something else — transformed into an oversize imagined object through the liberating obsession of an artist who refused to accept limits.

Born into the stifling oppression of the Soviet imperium, Christo — whose full name was Christo Vladimirov Javacheff — always had one core guiding idea: the inalienability of freedom. When the Berlin Wall went up in 1961, he made a wall of oil barrels on the Rue Visconti in Paris, a first defiant public statement.

Standing at the Arc de Triomphe this week, President Emmanuel Macron said, “I think that what we believe is this: crazy dreams must be possible.” The wrapping of a monument at once military, historical, artistic and a repository of national memory made French people “extraordinarily proud,” he suggested, “because this is what artistic adventure is all about.”

There was some grumbling. Florian Philippot, a rightist politician, denounced “a garbage bag draped over one of our most glorious monuments.” In the daily Le Monde, Carlo Ratti, an Italian architect, asked if it was environmentally acceptable to use vast amounts of fabric to wrap a monument. In fact, almost all the material used is being recycled, Yavachev said.

Like Christo’s “The Gates” — all 7,503 of them — that threaded a tapestry of deep saffron across New York City's Central Park in 2005, or the Reichstag wrapped in Berlin in 1995, or the 3,100 umbrellas deployed along inland valleys in Japan and California, the wrapped Arc de Triomphe seems certain to induce in people a sense of collective wonder. The crowds expected are so large that the Place Charles de Gaulle is being closed to traffic on weekends until the arch is unwrapped, allowing viewers to get close without dodging the cars normally slaloming at high speed across the large circular expanse.

As with all of Christo’s major projects, no sponsors or donors were accepted. The wrap has been entirely funded by the artist’s estate.

“My uncle always told me that if you are accountable to anyone, you don’t have freedom,” Yavachev said. “Remember, in art school in communist Bulgaria, he was criticized by the authorities because the peasants in his painting did not look happy enough! That was too much for him.”

Roselyne Bachelot, the culture minister, said: “The Arc de Triomphe is taken away from our gaze and at the same time overexposed to our gaze. This subtraction and this overexposure lie at the core of the work. Thank you, Christo, for offering us the gift of looking in another way, in a new way, at masterpieces built by other artists.”

The Arc de Triomphe, like any great monument, was built to last. Christo’s conceptual art is ephemeral. Within weeks it will be dismantled. There is something liberating in this, perhaps because the fleeting nature of the work makes possession impossible. The work is immense, yet insubstantial. The fabric seems to express something nomadic, in keeping with Christo’s own peripatetic life.

After living in Paris for many years, he moved to New York, living in the country illegally with his wife, Jeanne-Claude, from 1964-67, before getting a green card and becoming a citizen in 1973. By the time the United States opened its arms to him, he had been stateless for 17 years. Freedom meant something. America was also an idea.
This is not the first time that Christo has wrapped a Paris icon. In 1985, after many years of battling the authorities for permission (he was a specialist in the attritional bureaucratic warfare often required to achieve his aims), the artist wrapped the Pont Neuf and the 44 streetlamps on the bridge in a sandstone-colored fabric. Three million visitors came to see the installation during its two-week life.

For the wrapping of the Arc de Triomphe, a project supported by Macron and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, permission came more quickly — even if those falcons and COVID made life difficult. From July 15, Roger, the engineer, said, teams worked in shifts around the clock to do the preparatory work.

Only once before has the arch been partially covered by fabric. In 1885, on the occasion of the funeral of beloved poet and author Victor Hugo, a large black shroud was hung from the monument. More than 2 million people joined the funeral procession from the Arc de Triomphe to the Pantheon, where Hugo was interred.

Christo loved Paris. It was his second city, alongside New York. “I miss my uncle’s excitement — he would have been hopping around!” Yavachev said. It has been a tough year for the French capital, often under curfew as a result of the pandemic, the restaurants and cafes that are the connective tissue of the city closed for long periods. So, “L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped” feels like a liberating moment, a major public artwork to which large crowds will throng.

“Christo overwhelms us, prods us, makes us talk,” Hidalgo said. “He plays with light, with the Paris sky that reverberates through his ephemeral work.”

A few years before he died, I met Christo in Doha, Qatar. During a 45-minute interview he refused to sit down, speaking with irrepressible vitality. Eat little, he counseled, in order to channel energy (in his case, yogurt with garlic for breakfast, then nothing until dinner). Decide what you want — the difficult part — and apply yourself without compromise to that end. So determined was he that a posthumous work has come to fruition in Paris with what Yavachev described as his uncle’s spirit “everywhere around me.”

The Arc de Triomphe is many faceted. It began life as a monument to military glory. Names of Napoleon’s great battles are engraved across it. It was a tribute to a victorious emperor. But war is also terrible loss, as the 20th century demonstrated. In 1920, two years after World War I, the tomb of the unknown soldier was placed under the arch. The inscription on it reads: “A French soldier dead for the homeland 1914-1918.” An eternal flame burns.
The presence of the tomb made it impossible for military parades to pass under the arch, as if to declare the futility of war.

During the project, the tomb was carefully respected. The people who tend to the flame every evening at 6:30 p.m. were able to complete their task. One of them told journalists Thursday that “the unknown soldier has been in his shroud for 100 years. Christo left us prematurely and is now in his shroud. And I believe this temporary shroud tells us the arch is wrapped but you will see it again soon — so there is a kind of unity around us.”

Certainly, the wrapped Arc de Triomphe — light, breathing, glimmering — speaks of anything but war. After completing a project, Christo liked to say, “We didded it!” Yes, he did, even from beyond the grave. Freedom is also a fierce act of the imagination.

For almost 60 years, the artist known as Christo dreamed of wrapping the Arc de Triomphe. As a young man, having fled communist Bulgaria, he would gaze at the monument from his tiny garret apartment.

“You have to be careful, it’s the Arc de Triomphe after all!” From its official opening Saturday through Oct. Standing at the Arc de Triomphe this week, President Emmanuel Macron said, “I think that what we believe is this: crazy dreams must be possible.” The wrapping of a monument at once military, historical, artistic and a repository of national memory made French people “extraordinarily proud,” he suggested, “because this is what artistic adventure is all about.” There was some grumbling. That was too much for him.” Roselyne Bachelot, the culture minister, said: “The Arc de Triomphe is taken away from our gaze and at the same time overexposed to our gaze. This subtraction and this overexposure lie at the core of the work. Thank you, Christo, for offering us the gift of looking in another way, in a new way, at masterpieces built by other artists.” The Arc de Triomphe, like any great monument, was built to last. “He plays with light, with the Paris sky that reverberates through his ephemeral work.” A few years before he died, I met Christo in Doha, Qatar. So determined was he that a posthumous work has come to fruition in Paris with what Yavachev described as his uncle’s spirit “everywhere around me.” The Arc de Triomphe is many faceted.
The pandemic has placed us in an unprecedented and long-lasting crisis that has been consistently unfolding on many levels, be it economic, humanitarian or social. It is arguably the biggest health-related challenge we have encountered collectively, and people across the world are learning to evolve and live with it. Whether it using social media to channel emotions or an increasing number of adults taking sabbaticals from work, the need for us to cope is real and imperative.

Here are a few tips that could help to boost your immunity and take better care of your mental and physical health, as things slowly get back into a new normal:

Mind your mental health

Being stationary and home-bound during the pandemic has made the healthiest of people pile on pounds. Being cut off from outdoor spaces has also impacted our mental health in a big way. Seek help if you need it to deal with your anxiety and any other issues that you may be facing. Engaging in distressing activities and hobbies, spending time with loved ones and pets, listening to music, dancing, gardening, watching uplifting comedies and reading inspirational books can help us all navigate tough times.

Set yourself a fitness goal

Our physical movement has been severely limited due to the pandemic. Our connection to the environment, to like-minded communities, has been curtailed and this has taken away a huge part of our organic experiences. One way to engage in a community-centric, physical activity safely is by joining this year’s Oxfam Trailwalker Challenge starting from 17 September to 26 September and then again from 1 October to 10 October. This virtual walkathon motivates people in 17 locations and nine countries around the globe to reaffirm their commitment to fitness and community welfare.

Eat what is good for you

Eat sensibly, on time and cook meals that balance out the nutrients that you need the most. Experiment with fresh salads, juices, steamed and lightly sauteed meals, steer clear of processed foods, drink lots of water (8-10 glasses a day) to flush out toxins from your body, eschew alcohol and replace sugary drinks with coconut water. Add probiotics to your diet. Cut out sugar, heavy carbs and excessive caffeine and incorporate healthy snacks rather than store-bought ones to address those inconvenient hunger pangs. What you eat will eventually impact how you feel so stock up on foods that are truly good for your body.

Learn to meditate

Many people find it hard to meditate but like everything else in life, it is a skill that given time and persistence, can be mastered. There are instructional videos, guided meditations available online that simplify what seems like an intimidating activity. Once you get a hang of it, you will find yourself feeling less anxious and more at peace with life’s ups and downs. You can also follow mindfulness blogs and read books that teach how to live in the moment. You can join virtual meditation sessions and try different kinds of meditation techniques to see which one suits you. Just learning to regulate your breathing can make a huge difference to your stress levels.

Take your sleep seriously

Addiction to big and small screens and over-dependence on the Internet has made us all compromise our natural sleep cycle. Virtual stimulation, constant notifications and an unending stream of relevant and irrelevant information have chained us to our electronic devices. Even though scientific research has established that taking our mobiles to our beds is detrimental to natural sleep patterns, we continue to scroll through our social media late into the night. Our biological clock follows a 24-hour sleep-wake cycle but electronic back-lit devices like cell phones, laptops, tablets etc emit a blue light which reduces or delays sleep. Delayed or interrupted sleep also impairs cognitive function and in the long run, harms our overall wellness quotient and immunity levels. To take better care of yourself, switch off your devices an hour before you go to bed and sleep and wake up at a designated time. Observe digital detox often, to clear your mind.
Meghan and Prince Harry's spokesperson had then released a statement on behalf of the couple, saying, "The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma.
How long you sleep could indicate how healthy your brain is. According to a study published on Monday in the journal JAMA Neurology, sleep patterns in adults determine brain health and sometimes even indicate early signs of diseases like Alzheimer's and Dementia.

Disrupted sleep is common in late life, the study authors wrote, and associated with changes in cognitive function -- the mental capacity for learning, thinking, reasoning, problem-solving, decision-making, remembering, and paying attention.

Age-related change in sleeping patterns have also been linked to early signs of Alzheimer's disease, depression as well as cardiovascular diseases.

The authors of the study investigated possible associations between self-reported sleep duration, demographic and lifestyle factors and subjective cognitive functions and participation levels of beta-amyloid.

The study investigated the sleeping patterns of certain adults and reported that those who had short sleep duration - basically sleeping six hours or less- had elevated levels of beta-amyloid, which 'generally increases' risk of dementia.

The study was in comparison to participants who reported normal sleep duration, which the study authors defined as seven to eight hours of sleep per night.

The older adults with inadequate sleep performed comparatively worse on tests for assessing cognitive abilities, including orientation, attention, memory, language and visual-spatial skills; and identifying mild dementia.

The study though also explained the side effects of too much sleeping and associated it with lesser executive function although those people did not have elevated beta-amyloid levels.

The main takeaway from the study remains that one must maintain a healthy sleep late in life. People who get little sleep or too much sleep tend to have a higher body mass index and also more depressive symptoms. Both short and long sleep might have different underlying disease processes.
