Sharing a video, the actor wrote in the caption, "I was very disappointed to see the election results; firstly, the voting turnout was low, and then this result. But I am happy about one thing, that two of my favorites won the election. Congratulations."

In another series of Instagram stories, the actor criticised the people of Ayodhya for betraying their "true king". He referenced the story of the Ramayana, where the people of Ayodhya didn't trustGoddess Sita, wife of King Rama, after they returned to the city following their 14-year exile.

“We are forgetting that these are the same Ayodhya citizens who doubted Goddess Sita after she returned from exile. What do you call a person who even denies God? Selfish. History stands proof that the citizens of Ayodhya always betrayed their king. Shame on them,” his post reads.

Another post stated, "I salute the greatness of Ayodhya residents. You didn't even spare Mata Sita, so how could you not betray the ones who took Ram out of a tent and put him in the grand temple? India will never view you again with respect."

The actor congratulated his favorite candidates, actor Arun Govil and Kangana Ranaut, on their big wins.

Sunil and Arun had worked together in the famous DD show Ramayan, where Govil played the role of Lord Rama.

"First, Kangana Ranaut, who is the symbol of women empowerment, has won the Mandi seat, and secondly, Arun Govil, my elder brother, has won from Meerut. I congratulate both of them," he said.

Govil, 66, won from Uttar Pradesh's Meerut. This was the actor's first time contesting a Lok Sabha election.
