Abdulnasser Alshaali: We have always been hosting cricket matches. We are very big on cricket, and we're very big on sports generally. And the UAE is always going to be open to business and open to sports and matches. We would be happy to host it.

Sidhant Sibal: Now talking about India, UAE relationship, something we have been talking about, about the aviation bit, if you can elaborate as to what is the status, given the fact that you are very keen to have more aviation linkages with India.

I do believe, I truly do believe, that it will create a situation for both countries. We have considered all angles. We have made sure that this is a strong proposal, a very fair proposal. They're just looking at the moment, at infrastructure that will connect all of those ports and the logistics of it across all the countries of both and to see that they should all be at a similar level of cooperation. The conversation is going on, but we're also, what we have also, have also done recently is that we started talking about the IMEE corridor as part of UFI, the UAE, France, India, trilateral dialog. So that we make sure that we are looking at every single aspect of it, every single angle, making sure that we are covered in terms of connectivity, in terms of even having alternate routes in case there was disruption somewhere in the region. So this is all going, it hasn't stopped for whatever reason, as I'm sure over the coming year or so, you will see some progress.

Through the first two sessions of the Test, the Black Caps had the upper hand, despite losing the toss, as they reached 199-3 on a seamers' wicket.

Even when they were all out for 348 and England were 71-4 in reply the momentum was with New Zealand.

But from there the game turned England's way with belligerent batting aided by sloppy fielding, which included eight dropped catches.

When New Zealand batted again, a masterful seam bowling session by Chris Woakes and player-of-the-match Carse tilted the match firmly back to England.

"We were happy with the position we had, and we had our opportunities," said New Zealand captain Tom Latham. "On a different day, catches go to hand and things might be different, but that's the sport we play."

England's first innings 499 gave them an imposing 151 run-lead, but had New Zealand taken their catches it could have been a different scenario.

Harry Brook was dropped on 18, Stokes was put down on 50 and added 30 more, a catch off Duckett was spilt on 25 and he went on to make 46, while Carse finished 33 not out after escaping on six.

In a one-and-a-half sessions on Saturday, New Zealand lost six wickets as Woakes and Carse found movement with the ball.

After removing Latham, Woakes bagged New Zealand's premier batsman Kane Williamson for 61 and Tom Blundell in consecutive deliveries.

Carse chipped in with the wickets of Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips.

In the first session Sunday, Carse removed Nathan Smith and Henry in the same over.

Smith advanced from his overnight one to 21, playing through a barrage of short deliveries before a fuller ball from Carse nipped back and rapped into his pads.

Four balls later the 29-year-old Carse, in only his third Test, accounted for Henry (one) with a similar delivery.

He came back later to end the innings with Mitchell's wicket to finish with an impressive Test-best 6-42.

Woakes took 3-59 with the other wicket taken by Gus Atkinson, who was hit for two sixes by Tim Southee before the tall New Zealander was caught on the boundary swinging for a third.

The second Test starts in Wellington on Friday. The third and final Test is in Hamilton, beginning December 14.

India will host three men’s ICC events and the women’s World Cup during this window. While they co-host the 2026 T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh will share hosting rights for the 50-over World Cup in 2031. Pakistan Super League (PSL) could be held without star English players next season as ECB’s new policy denies NOCs to centrally contracted cricketers to skip premier domestic tournaments for T20-based franchise cricket coinciding with it. Per the latest report, the T20 freelancers claim to have been blindsided by the ECB’s new policy on NOCs as they seek legal action against the board.

Though the ECB chief executive Richard Gould feels the policy was designed to ‘protect the integrity of the sport’, the top-tier T20 freelancers, the players without national contracts and on white-ball-only deals with their respective counties, are of a different opinion, feeling this policy restricts their chances of plying their trade elsewhere.

While some players reacted furiously to this new policy, which the board approved on Wednesday, the others have discussed options with the Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA) and among themselves in a WhatsApp group chat.

"The PCA is continuing to source considered opinions and potential consequences of this policy from players and player representatives."

The ECB’s new policy is a response to curb the transfer of top talent drawn towards the franchise-based T20 Leagues worldwide, the most significant of which is the Major League Cricket (MLC), with the England players also featuring in Lanka Premier League (LPL), the T10 tournaments in the Cayman Islands and Zimbabwe, and also in well-established Caribbean Premier League (CPL).&nbsp;

Besides, in 2025, the PSL will also be staged during the April-May window, unlike in February-March for all these years, which will again coincide with the County Championship; the ECB is unlikely to grant NOCs to players with all-format county contracts to appear in that tournament.

This new policy will, however, impact players like Jason Roy and Alex Hales, who missed parts of Blast this year to feature in the MLC and LPL, respectively.&nbsp;

Though this policy restricts contracted players to skip all-format domestic tournaments for franchise-based leagues, IPL remains an exception, as promised by the ECB to the BCCI.&nbsp;
