Gadkari urges auto industry to prioritise customer service and quality

The Indian automotive industry is on the brink of a transformative era, according to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. In his address to the Auto Retail Conclave organised by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (Fada), Gadkari emphasised the critical need for the sector to prioritize customer service, after-sales support, and quality assurance as it moves forward.

Speaking via video message, the Minister for Road Transport and Highways highlighted the pivotal role that automotive dealers play in advancing the government's mission of a self-reliant India. He stressed the importance of continuous innovation in these key areas to propel the industry into the future.

Gadkari expressed the government's commitment to supporting the auto retail sector, recognising its significant contribution to the Indian economy. He pointed out that the sector generates annual revenue of approximately INR 40,000 crore and contributes around INR 95,000 crore in various taxes and levies to both central and state governments. The minister also noted the sector's broader economic impact, influencing industries such as finance and insurance, thereby creating a multiplier effect across the economy.

The government's vision for the future of mobility, as articulated by Gadkari, centres on sustainability, innovation, and safety. He revealed that efforts are underway to establish India as a global leader in green mobility solutions. In this context, the minister commended Fada's focus on environmentally friendly dealership practices and its support for the vehicle scrappage policy, viewing these initiatives as aligned with the government's overarching vision.

Gadkari's message highlights the auto retail sector's position as a major pillar of India's economy, emphasising its substantial contributions to the country's GDP. He assured the industry of the government's unwavering support in every possible way, recognising the crucial role that Fada and its members play in driving economic growth.

He emphasised that automotive dealers are instrumental in realising the vision of a self-reliant India, contributing significantly to this national objective through their operations and services.
