In the sub-junior&nbsp;category, the first position was bagged by Moin-ud-Din, the second position by Rahil Ali, and the&nbsp;third position by Tabish Hafeez. In the Junior category, the first position was bagged by Basit Yatoo, second by Bisma Sajad, and&nbsp;third by Mohd Inaytullah. In the senior category, the first position was bagged by Owais Ashraf, the second position by Junaid Ahmad, and the&nbsp;third position by Ms. Sheema.

An Indian Army pilot died while another one suffered grievous injuries after the helicopter crashed in North Kashmir's snowbound Gurez sector.

The injured co-pilot is being treated at the army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar, Indian Army's spokesperson said.&nbsp;

According to officials, Indian Army's 'Cheetah'&nbsp;helicopter was on a routine mission to evacuate an ailing soldier from a forward post in the Gurez sector when the crash took place.&nbsp;

''The helicopter lost communication with the forward post at Gujran, Baraub. A search operation on foot was immediately launched by the Indian Army, alongside search and rescue helicopters which were pressed into service,” the spokesperson said.

“The wreckage of the crashed helicopter was found in a snowbound Gujran Nallah area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora. Pilot and the co-pilot of the helicopter were grievously injured in the crash and were immediately evacuated to 92 base Hospital, Srinagar,” the statement added.

Major Sankalp Yadav, 29 years old, who was the co-pilot, succumbed to his injuries at 92 Base Hospital.

Yadav was commissioned in 2015 and was a resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan. He is survived by his father.&nbsp;

The Indian Army has initiated an investigation to find out what led to the crash.&nbsp;

''The injured pilot is critical and is presently in ICU at 92 Base Hospital. Events leading to the crash of the helicopter are being ascertained,” the spokesperson said.&nbsp;

Another such story is of Olympic-level women's kayaking-canoeing player Bilquis Mir, she is the first Kashmiri woman to be chosen as a judge at the upcoming Asian Games in China. Bilquis Mir, 33 is the first water sports coach from Srinagar and was the first Olympic-level women's kayaking-canoeing player from the Kashmir region.

When Bilquis started her sports career, there were very few women from Jammu and Kashmir who were playing for the state. She paved a way for many girls across the Union territory to take up sports as their careers. Bilquis appreciates the increasing number of girls joining different sports in the valley.&nbsp;

''It's sending a positive message as when I started there were very few girls in the sports and now, I see that changing, Girls should trust and have faith in themselves, Girls always face more hurdles in their careers, but my message would be that talent will never die. The Sports council department in the valley has seen a sharp rise in female registrations in various sports. From water sports to winter sports to other games, women are proving to be better at every sports activity.&nbsp;

''It's changing a lot. There were few girls in sports in Kashmir a few years back but now there are so many. 50 percent of the total at sports facilities is now girls. The girls do it better than boys. Sadia won a gold medal; she is a golden girl for us. She is an inspiration for other girls in the UT. I am sure we will have many girls like Sadia in the future. '' said Mushtaq Zargar, Coach, Sports Council.&nbsp;

The young girls in the Kashmir valley are so inspired by these sportswomen that they are taking up sports and are also winning medals for the state. One such girl is Nabeela Khan, who recently won a silver medal in water sports. She has drawn her inspiration from Bilquis Mir.&nbsp;

At a time when Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine, special prayers are being held in South Kashmir's small hamlet in Tral village of Pulwama district. Ukrainian born Olesia Mazur is praying day and night for her parents and grandmother, who are stuck in Ukraine.&nbsp;

Olesia lived 300 km away from the Capital city of Ukraine.&nbsp;

Olesia has been married to a Kashmiri businessman Bilal Ahmad for the last eight years. They have two kids and have been living in Kashmir happily for the last many years.&nbsp;

However, the last 10 days have been distressing for her. She is worried about her parents and grandmother who are stuck in Ukraine during this terrible time.&nbsp;

"I am furious with what Russia is doing to our country. I am extremely worried about my parents and grandmother. They all live together and are stuck in their house. It's very difficult for them to move from their place as they are very old. If the war intensifies, I don't know what they will do. The hospitals and residential areas have been damaged as well," said Olesia Mazur, a&nbsp;Ukrainian.&nbsp;

For Bilquis, it is a dream come true. "It's been hard work spanning 21 years. It's a dream come true for me. I started my career in 1998 at this very Dal Lake. I represented Jammu and Kashmir for a decade and was a part of the world championships. I thank God for providing me with this opportunity," said Bilquis Mir, Director of Water Sports, Jammu and Kashmir.&nbsp;

"I had to struggle a lot, and I reached this stage after hard work. I am delighted that I am making my UT as well as my country proud. I am a Kashmiri girl who started from Dal Lake and now has reached a stage to judge Asian games to be held in China," said Bilquis.

"In the last three years, there has been a revolution in water sports in Jammu and Kashmir. It gained a fresh impetus because of the PM’s attention. We were able to create a centre with new equipment and finally pave the way for water sports," Bliquis said.

"The government of India and the government of Jammu and Kashmir took various steps. We are very blessed with natural water resources and because of that, we can lead in all these sports. This year, during the winter, we were able to continue training sessions due to new equipment. We have all the equipment that countries like Germany, Hungary, and other nations have, "she said.

The export registration in Jammu and Kashmir has gone up by 173 per cent in 2021, government data has revealed.

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir shared the data&nbsp;which showed that a total of 2,863 Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) registrations have been done till date in the state.

Moreover, the value of exports from the last five years has increased from US$ 124.47 million to US$ 159.64 million.

IEC is a key business identification number that is mandatory for exports or imports. According to the government, the number of IECs issued in Jammu and Kashmir has increased from 204 registrations in 2020 to 557 in 2021.

Such numbers were achieved thanks to a joint initiative Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion and Organisation in collaboration with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.

The collaboration was aimed to achieve the vision of export promotion under the Government of India’s vision of the ‘District as Export Hub’ initiative.

They had organised various registration drives, training-cum-capacity building workshops for strengthening the export scenario of J&amp;K.

More than 40 items from 20 districts of J&amp;K under the One District One Product have been selected and finalized by apex level Export Promotion Committee.

“A series of buyer-seller meets have been organised in association with different consulates in order to promote various products from Agriculture &amp; Handloom and Handicraft Sector and intends to do the same in near future also,” the Jammu and Kashmir government said in a statement.&nbsp;

The government intends to create an international brand for all the identified local products and give all the necessary support to interested exporters for promotion of their products and making connections with interested importers.

“As per the vision of the Prime Minister each district of our country has a diverse identity and potential for global market and we from the Department of Industries and Commerce have reached out to existing and potential Exporters. The UT of J&amp;K under the active guidance of Lieutenant Governor, Jammu and Kashmir is now on a fast transition path for opening global markets for the UT’s products and services,” said Ankita Kar, Managing Director, JKTPO.&nbsp;

The heads of the Institutions have been asked to contact the squad if any incident takes place outside their centres. This step has been taken after a recent acid attack took place in Srinagar city. The Jammu and Kashmir Police felt that there is a need for having a dedicated squad for the females of the city. After the recent acid attack in Srinagar city, Police felt there is a need for this. We have been deputed here at two spots outside the coaching centres in Hyderpora and I am in charge of it. We have sufficient vehicles and female squads to make sure the girls feel safer. The girls are feeling much safer and are happy that we have started patrolling. '' said a lady police officer. The step has been appreciated by everyone in the city, especially the girl students. They felt there was a need for having a special female squad outside the educational institutions. Women feel it easier to report a crime if the Police officers are females too.
