After 75 years of taking care of the property belonging to the Hindu community, Muslims returned the land for the construction of Mata Sharda temple in Teetwal belt close to the Line of Control(LoC).&nbsp;

''Mata Sharda is the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. The importance of Sharda Peeth is well known to everyone. It used to be the oldest university much older than Nalanda and Taxila. And the oldest civilization. None of the Hindus have been allowed to go to Sharda Peeth and now we have been trying our best, my committee called Save Sharda Committee (SSC) to get it revived and re-open it,"&nbsp;Ravindra Pandita, head of Save Sharda Committee, said.

"We have a lot of researchers from PoK and here as well working on it. It's a shared heritage, the traditional routes are from places like Keran. Teetwal is the official route for the Sharda pilgrimage. We are constructing a base temple. We are quite hopeful that the LoC permit&nbsp;which exists between two countries, is revived so that we can travel and take the pilgrimage. The Jammu and Kashmir Hindus should be allowed to take this pilgrimage,'' Ravindra Pandita added.

The Hindu community in Kashmir wants the pilgrimage&nbsp;to open on the same pattern as Kartarpur. They want the PoK&nbsp;government to allow them to take this pilgrimage. It is the most important temple for the Kashmiri Pandit community.&nbsp;

''This is basically a base camp for the Sharda temple. The yatra would start from here. The pilgrimage would be taken to PoK. It's the most important temple for Kashmiri Pandits. It's what Mecca is to Muslims; Sharda is for Kashmiri Pandits. This base camp had a Gurudwara before 1947. The people called us and said this is the land that belongs to the temple and welcomed us with open arms. We have started the work,'' said Surinder Mirza a&nbsp;Kashmiri Pandit.&nbsp;

The Muslims handed over the land to the temple committee&nbsp;recently. And have also appealed to both India and Pakistan governments to make open the pilgrimage again&nbsp;so that the Kashmiri Pandit community can visit the temple in PoK.

''It was our duty, our ancestors have always told us that this land belonged to the temple, and they had told us whenever they come and want this land back, we should return it.&nbsp; We are hopeful that routes will be open. We want the old times to return,'' said a local Zameer Ahmad. &nbsp;

The temple construction committee&nbsp;has also kept Muslim members in the team. The temple is being built by a Kashmiri Muslim&nbsp;who says that this is the biggest example of brotherhood in Kashmir. He hopes that it becomes a meeting point for all the communities and an example of peace.&nbsp;

''It's a very old heritage and we had kept the land very safe with us. To strengthen the bond between the communities, we are making a temple, a Gurdwara&nbsp;already exists and we will build&nbsp;a Mosque too.&nbsp;This should be a centre for everyone to meet. We request the governments to allow this pilgrimage. We need the government from across to give us permits. People should remember that Ajaz was a Muslim who made temples, Mosques and Gurudwara,'' Ajaz Khan, member, temple construction committee, said.&nbsp;

Also, the month of March has seen the maximum number of tourists arrivals in Kashmir Valley, breaking a 10-year record.

The Jammu and Kashmir tourism department has been promoting Kashmir tourism across the country and has organised many spring festivals in the coming days.&nbsp;

“We have handled 45 arriving flights with 7,824 passengers and 45 departing flights with 7,190 passengers on March 28. A total of 90 flights with 15,014 passengers makes it the busiest day in our history. And this is only the beginning of the summer schedule,” said Director of Srinagar International Airport, Kuldeep Singh.&nbsp;

The Srinagar airport authority at present has nine parking slots and six more are being added. In total, 15 parking stands will be available for the planes.

Around 15 Kashmiri Pandit families in this colony have come back, while more&nbsp;are planning to return. These houses were in dilapidated conditions for years and now finally, it seems that these colonies would see happy times again.&nbsp;

''Yes, it's true that houses are being built again. The Kashmiri Pandit community is now finally thinking of returning to their homes. The pandit community in Jammu is also thinking of returning. We used to live with so much love around us. People want to come. There are around 15 houses which are being built and more will be built too. In a few years, I am sure, if conditions are peaceful, everyone would return. '' said Ashok Kumar Sidha, President of Martand Temple Trust.&nbsp;

In the last few years, many such families have come back to the valley and are living happily. Matan village has seen the maximum number of Kashmiri Pandits returning to their&nbsp;homeland.

Without any government help, these people have started to build or renovate their old houses. Some local Muslim Kashmiris say things are returning to how it used to be in the 1980s and before.&nbsp;

''A lot of them have come back and a lot of them are coming back. We have always lived in brotherhood. There are many new houses being built here. As you can see, many houses in this colony are being built. We are with them and would love them to return. We always used to celebrate auspicious occasions days together. Kaka ji (Uncle) has returned back after many years. His house is all ready, and he will come soon to live in it. They have a lot of trust in us, and we have a lot of trust in them too. '' said Mohammad Rajab Lone, neighbour.&nbsp;

Most of the construction work is being done by the Kashmiri Muslim community. They have been taking care of these properties and now, they are helping them to rebuild these houses as well.&nbsp;

''We are so happy that they are returning. We are working on their houses. We have been working on these constructions. There are around 15 new houses being built. We are giving them all the support and we are very happy that they have come back. We are always there for help. Some of them never left and those who left are coming back. Insha Allah (Praise the lord), the brotherhood between us would remain forever,'' said Farooq Ahmad Lone, another local.&nbsp;

The Pandit community wants the government to provide&nbsp;them security and also help them build their houses. They say if there are no homes for the Pandits, how can they return to the valley.

The government had said that 6,000 Kashmiri Pandits have returned to the valley recently, but the community has claimed that they have not been provided proper accommodation and are living in rented rooms.

''The Pandits cannot return if they don't have a place to stay. No 6,000 pandits have returned. These are those who are employees. Six employees live in one room here. That's why we say the government hasn't done anything for us. If the government had done something for these employees that meant creating space for 6000 families. Which would encourage others to come back too, '' said Ashok Kumar Sidha, President of Martand Temple Trust.&nbsp;

The Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested two terrorists belonging to the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organisation in central Kashmir's Budgam district.

In a joint operation of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army's 62 Rashtriya Rifles regiment in the Sunnergund area recovered arms and ammunition from the terrorists.

The arrested terrorists are residents of Shopian town in Kashmir.

''Budgam Police, along with 62 RR, arrested two active terrorists of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba from Sunnergund area of Budgam. The arrested terrorists have been identified as Waseem Ahmad Ganai S/o Shahzad Ahmad Ganai R/o Ramnagri Shopian and Iqbal Ashraf Sheikh S/o Mohammed Ashraf Sheikh R/o Sedow Shopian, '' said Jammu and Kashmir Police in a statement.&nbsp;

Security forces also recovered one Chinese pistol, 2 pistol magazines, 12 pistol rounds 12 and 32 AK-47 rounds.&nbsp;

The arrest&nbsp;comes two days after terrorists shot dead a 29-year-old police officer, Ishfaq Ahmad, and wounded his 21-year-old brother Umar Jan in another targeted attack on security personnel.

The police officer succumbed to his injuries on Monday, while his brother is undergoing treatment at a government hospital.

Last week on Wednesday, a CRPF trooper and a civilian were wounded in a grenade explosion in Srinagar’s area on Wednesday evening, hours after police arrested four Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives and seized hand grenades from them.

The organisers also believe that having fashion week in Kashmir will be a learning platform for the youngsters of Kashmir, who want to take up modelling and designing as their profession.

"I was a model earlier and shifted back to Kashmir to create a platform for the local youth to take up modelling as their career. This is my way of giving back to society. We are using more than 25 local models in the fashion week, and it’s a platform where designers can showcase their work, "Adnan Shah, the organizer, stated.

Indian army, in a special initiative, trained six specially-abled youths from Kashmir in skiing at High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) in Gulmarg. The youths underwent two weeks of training.

The Chinar Corps initiative is aimed at providing first-hand exposure to specially-abled youths of Kashmir in skiing, with the hope that many more citizens would take up this exhilarating sport.

The event was flagged off by GOC 31 Sub Area under the aegis of HQ 15 Corps and were ably guided and supervised by the Commandant of HAWS.&nbsp;

"We hope that many more specially-abled youth will take up skiing and represent India in Paralympics in times to come." said Sanjay Vishwas, GOC,31 Sub Area.&nbsp;

Several volunteers had approached Indian Army for the short course. Artificial limbs and other special accessories were provided by Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti, an NGO from Jaipur. The team successfully completed 14 days basic skiing course from March 12 to March 26

The team was led by Lt Col Dharamdatt Goel, who himself is a war-wounded soldier and an amputee. The other six Kashmiri members included Mr Gowhair Ahmad Ganaie, Mr Umar Salam, Mr Abdul Rehman Mir, Mr Rafiq, Mr Musaib Rashid and Mr Syeed Nazir.&nbsp;

During the course they learnt basic skills of sliding, gliding, snow ploughing, manoeuvring, and traversing. The participants demonstrated their courage and will of human spirit.

After learning the basic skills, they successfully covered a distance of 250 metres. This appeared impossible on the very first day of the training.&nbsp;

“We are thankful to HAWS and India army who gave us chance to prove ourselves, it has given us new identity and we can be inspiration for many people like us who feel they won't be able to do such things", said Gowhar Ganai, Participant.&nbsp;

Skiing for the specially-abled is yet to be explored in India. The six skiers through their courage and motivation have conveyed a strong message to the youth of Kashmir that despite the challenging situation in life, determination and hard work always pays off. The Jammu and Kashmir Police chief on Thursday said that the number of terrorists in the valley has come down, but added that the threat still remains.

He also said that till the time there are arms and ammunition present in the valley, peace cannot prevail upon Kashmir. He appealed to the youth of the valley to shun the path of violence.&nbsp;

''The number of terrorists and terror incidents have come down over the last two years but that doesn’t mean terrorism is over. As long as guns and grenades are available to the youth, innocent lives will continue to become the casualty of it,"&nbsp;Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Dilbag Singh said.

“I urge youth to shun the path of violence. The youth who are carrying pistols, guns and grenades must give peace a chance,” he added.&nbsp;

The&nbsp;Jammu and Kashmir Police have been conducting special operations to break the terror infrastructure in the valley and act against the terror supporters.&nbsp;

“'Srinagar youth has played a great role in getting stones replaced with the balls be that football or cricket ball. This is a great achievement,'' DGP Dilbagh Singh said.

He also said that Kashmir has seen enough bloodshed&nbsp;and it's time to give peace a chance.&nbsp;

The violence has led to destruction only. Many elderlies, women, children, youth, and security forces personnel have died in the past 30 years.&nbsp;

The government of Jammu and Kashmir says that millions of jobs would be created after these investments are made. They also said that 75 per cent of the jobs generated in these investments will go to the locals of Jammu and Kashmir.&nbsp;

''It was important for us to show them Jammu and Kashmir. It will increase the economic activity in the Union Territory. This will not only bring money but also employment. Around 75 per cent of jobs will be reserved for the locals. We are starting from Srinagar district. And slowly will go to other districts as well '' said Ranjan Prakash Thakur, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce.&nbsp;

The business community of Jammu and Kashmir have welcomed the step and said it will be a start of a new era of the economic development of Jammu and Kashmir.&nbsp;

Thousands of tourists thronged Asia's largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar on the very first day of its opening. The tourism industry is hoping that there will be a record number of tourists visiting the valley to enjoy the beautiful visuals of the Tulip Garden.&nbsp;

Tulip garden has more than 1.5 million tulips and 68 different varieties this year. Spread over an area of 30 hectares of land at the foothills of Zabarwan hills and overlooking the famous Dal Lake, the visuals in the garden are just breathtakingly beautiful.&nbsp;

Millions of tourists have visited the garden in the last few years. And this year the garden has been thrown open earlier than previous years to 'prepone' the spring tourist season in the Valley. The government is also planning to hold a tulip festival in the garden.&nbsp;

''From a tourism point of view Tulip Garden is an iconic place and everybody who wants to visit the tulip garden is most welcome. We have preponed our tourism season by almost a month. I am sure this is great news for a lot of people who have been impatiently waiting to come and see the tulips. The real makers of this garden are those gardeners who work day and night for months to prepare the garden for visitors. The preparations go on for months before the garden opens to the public. Around 100 gardeners work all through the year in this garden to make it so beautiful and mesmerising.&nbsp;

''I have been working on this garden since 2002, This year we have around 1.5 million tulips and it's a lot of hard work. Our reward is when people from across the world come to see and enjoy this tulip garden. We start the whole process in November and for three months we have to keep working on it. There are around 100 gardeners in this tulip garden. Tourists coming to see this garden gives us so much happiness,'' said Mohammad Ayub, Gardener.&nbsp;

This year the garden has been made much more attractive with many other additions. More trees and shrubs have been added, along with an open-air cafeteria. The tourism department is also planning to sell various Kashmiri breads and tea in the garden. To enjoy these beautiful visuals and authentic Kashmiri food experiences, thousands of tourists have already flocked to the garden.&nbsp;

We have seen a tulip garden in Amsterdam but to see the same thing in our own country makes us so proud. We want to tell everyone across the country to come here. This is India's paradise, and everyone should visit,'' said Praveen Murarka, a tourist.&nbsp;

The preparations go on for months before the garden opens to the public. Around 100 gardeners work all through the year in this garden to make it so beautiful and mesmerising. ''I have been working on this garden since 2002, This year we have around 1.5 million tulips and it's a lot of hard work. Our reward is when people from across the world come to see and enjoy this tulip garden. We start the whole process in November and for three months we have to keep working on it. There are around 100 gardeners in this tulip garden. Tourists coming to see this garden gives us so much happiness,'' said Mohammad Ayub, Gardener. This year the garden has been made much more attractive with many other additions. More trees and shrubs have been added, along with an open-air cafeteria. The tourism department is also planning to sell various Kashmiri breads and tea in the garden. Last year, despite the Covid restrictions, more than 2.25 lakh tourists visited the Tulip Garden. This year, the government hopes that all previous records of tourists visiting will be broken. ''We are lucky to come to Kashmir. There was a fear in mind but once we landed here, we were so surprised. This is such an amazing place. The people are nice. We have seen a tulip garden in Amsterdam but to see the same thing in our own country makes us so proud. We want to tell everyone across the country to come here. This is India's paradise, and everyone should visit,'' said Praveen Murarka, a tourist. Tulip Garden is one of the world's most famous gardens. Last year, pictures of the tulip garden were shared on Twitter by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the post, a huge number of tourists visited the garden.
