Legal action will be supplemented by property attachments as per sections 2(g) &amp; 25 of the ULP Act. The police has said that decision regarding enforcement of these sections of law is due to the fact that many supporters of terrorism are wilfully providing safe havens to terrorists who conduct attacks on civilians and security forces in Srinagar City.

In a recent encounter that took place in Srinagar's Bishember Nagar, JK Police said that they will seize the property of the owner in whose house the terrorists were hiding.&nbsp;

''Yes, we will seize the property in today's encounter,'' said Vijay Kumar, IG Kashmir Police.&nbsp;

The Jammu and Kashmir Police has also said that if there is a 'forceful entry' of terrorists into any house or other structure, the house owner or any other member claiming duress should timely inform the authorities about the same, as many provisions for hiding identity of such informant are available under law.&nbsp;

However, the politicians in the valley have criticised the step taken by the JK Police. Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti has called the step completely wrong.&nbsp;

''It's completely wrong. This is like punishing the whole community . If you have to fight the militants, fight them but what's with punishing the locals for it. '' said Mehbooba Mufti, Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.&nbsp;

During a joint operation of Jammu Kashmir Police and the paramilitary force, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the terrorists, involved in the attack on CRPF personnel at Maisuma area of Srinagar on April 4 were, neutralised.&nbsp;

The security forces said that they were acting on a specific input about the presence of terrorists in Bhishembar Nagar area, following which a cordon and search operation were launched by the Srinagar Police.

During the search operation, the terrorists fired upon the security forces, who then retaliated to their attacks, resulting in the encounter.&nbsp;In the initial exchange of fire, one terrorist was killed, while the other one was neutralised later.&nbsp;

''Keeping in view the tourist movement and huge rush in the area, Police and CRPF exercised maximum restraint and carried out the operation in a professional manner to avoid any civilian causality. During the course of the evacuation of civilians, the trapped terrorist hurled a grenade resulting in minor splinter injuries to 03 Police/CRPF Jawans who were shifted to hospital for treatment of their injuries.'' J&amp;K Police chief Vijay Kumar said.

The slain terrorists were from Pakistan identified as Mohammad Bhai, also known as Abu Qasim/Mir Shoaib/Mudassir and Abu Arsalan, aka Khalid/Aadil.

''As per police records, both the killed terrorists were category ‘A’ terrorists and linked with LeT. Mohammad Bhai was active since 2019 while Abu Arsalan since 2021 in Central Kashmir. Both the terrorists were wanted for various terror-related activities,'' Vijay Kumar said.

Both the terrorists were carrying fake Aadhaar cards to conceal their identity.

Police also found incriminating materials, arms &amp; ammunition were from the site of the encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation.&nbsp;

Since January this year, security forces have killed 46 terrorists, while 26 have been arrested alive. Also, more than 150 Overground Workers (OGWs) have been apprehended too.

OGW is&nbsp;used to describe those persons who provide logistical support, cash, accommodation, and other facilities to militants or terrorists.

Kashmir Valley has broken all the previous records of tourist arrivals in the last three months. The valley saw more than 3,40,000 tourist arrivals in the months of January, February and March. &nbsp;&nbsp;

The March month saw the maximum tourist arrivals of 1,80,000 tourists. After years, such a huge number of tourist arrivals have been witnessed in the Kashmir Valley. &nbsp;&nbsp;

The tourist rush pushed the government to increase the number of flights running at Srinagar Airport. Around 92 flights operate daily from Srinagar airport with the passengers numbering around 15,000. &nbsp; &nbsp;

In the last seven days of April, 58,000 tourists have come to the valley. The Tulip Garden was opened in the last week of March and on April 2, more than 50,000 people thronged the garden. &nbsp; &nbsp;

In the last 7 days of April, we have already had 58,000 tourist arrivals. Around 8,000 arrivals are happening per day. So, in the last three months, it has crossed the 3,00,000 number. It's very encouraging to see our efforts yielding results. We expect more tourists to come in future,'' said Ahsan Ul Haq, Deputy Director, Tourism. &nbsp; &nbsp;

Around 3,00,000 tourists have visited the Tulip Garden so far. The government says looking at the figures, it seems all the previous records of people thronging the garden will be broken. The travel agents in the valley say that all five- and four-star hotels and properties are fully booked for next two months. Even the mid-range hotels are booked till June. &nbsp; &nbsp;

''Tulip Garden was opened recently, and we have had a good season. It started from January and continued through February. All our hotels and houseboats are completely booked, and bookings have been made for the next two months. Kashmir is completely sold out. We have a good flow of tourists now and till June, everything in the valley is booked and we are sure all previous records will be broken,'' said Waseem Gousani, travel agent. &nbsp; &nbsp;

Spring is one of the most beautiful times to visit the valley. The Jammu and Kashmir tourism department organised many spring festivals to attract more and more tourists and prolong the spring season. This year, the department hasn't confined the spring season only for tulips but other gardens as well. &nbsp; &nbsp;

The tourists present in the valley said that they are happy to see Kashmir tourism flourishing after so many years. ''It's a beautiful place and I wish many people would come here. It's really a paradise and we only used to see this on TV and Bollywood films. It's worth visiting and experiencing it yourself. It will help local people and they will earn their livelihood. Locals will get a lot of business. Due to covid, they must have lost a lot of business and now, they are recovering. It's like nature is calling us. We have seen people from across India visiting here. We are happy over here and it was fun,'' said Asumita Louis, another tourist. &nbsp; &nbsp;

''It's a dream come true and it's very beautiful. There was no fear. Every place here is beautiful. There is so much tourist rush, we had to be in a queue at Gondola Gulmarg for more than one and a half hours. We went to Pahalgam and Gulmarg. Everyone needs to come here and experience this,'' said Jyoti Mehrotra, another tourist. &nbsp; &nbsp;

The tourist inflow has surprised all the officials, who work with the tourism department. Officials working at the gardens of Srinagar say that they have never seen such a rush. &nbsp; &nbsp;

''This year, all records have been broken. Last Saturday, we saw a huge number of tourists, around 10,000 people visited us that day. Due to Ramadan, we can see locals aren't coming in huge numbers but tourists in huge numbers are still coming. Everyday around 3,000 tourists come to this garden,'' said Khurshid Ahmad, official, Nishat Garden.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The government hopes, the numbers will increase more in the coming months.

Tourism in Kashmir breaks all records as 3,40,000 visitors throng valley in 3 months 

Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Vice President of National Conference Omar Abdullah has been questioned by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in New Delhi on Thursday. According to a source in the ED, the questioning was done in a case related to Jammu and Kashmir Bank. &nbsp;&nbsp;

The National Conference has called it ‘vicious vilification campaign’. NC has said that central government has made a habit of misusing investigative agencies. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Abdullah appeared before the investigators of the agency at around 11 am at its headquarters. The leader was earlier summoned by the agency. He was asked to visit its office on Thursday. &nbsp;&nbsp;

The National conference said that Omar Abdullah despite Ramzan and Delhi not being his place of residence, didn’t postpone the date of questioning and went ahead with it. They have said that elections might take place in Jammu Kashmir this year, and due to this, BJP is using agencies to target other party leaders. &nbsp;&nbsp;

“There was a time when elections were announced by the EC but now it seems that elections are announced by the ED. Over recent years, we have seen that wherever state elections are due, agencies like the ED move in and target those parties who pose a challenge to the BJP. This summons to our Vice President is in the same vein. We have no doubt that this fishing expedition will yield no concrete results to the BJP and the people will give a ringing endorsement to the national conference as and when required,” said National Conference. &nbsp;&nbsp;

The ED hasn’t given out any further details about the case Omar was questioned for. &nbsp;

The centre has been named 'Artisane, Art and Cultural Centre', and is located in the Kunzer area of Baramulla district. A place where people would witness the process of art coming to life. The idea is to make people understand the hard work and passion involved in making these exquisite products.&nbsp;

People who visit the cultural centre would be able to see a live demonstration of hand-made products like kani and pashmina shawls, silk carpets, colourful papier-mache products, minute sozni and embroidery work and carved walnut woodwork.&nbsp;

"The earthen world of Artisane is a mini representation of Kashmir’s rich architectural and craft legacy. The sublime aesthetics of the stone and wood structure which took almost 4 years to complete beholds the idea of Kashmir in each corner. The inspiration to create this cultural centre is to bring a psychological renaissance to the cottage industry and revive the hand-made practices to create craft delights indigenous to Kashmir. It celebrates the authenticity and perseverance of the craftspeople who work arduously to preserve the heritage of the valley," said Mehboob Iqbal Shah, Co-Founder, Artisane, Art and Cultural Centre.&nbsp;

The experts said that 'Artisane' could be a steppingstone and the government of Jammu and Kashmir should create spaces like these. They believe that craft of the valley needs to be showcased as heritage gardens and properties.&nbsp;

"The way we showcase our gardens and heritage properties in the valley, we need to showcase the craft as well. People have to experience the creative demonstration of how every handmade product in the valley is made. Artisane is a very thoughtfully done place, where space is not subservient to the products. The people who visit the cultural centre would first imbibe the space and later look at the products. And I hope the government takes a step like this too so that more such places are available for the people who are interested in Art and Craft of the Valley," said Saleem Beigh, Saleem Beg, former DG of tourism and chairman of Indian National Trust for Arts and Culture Heritage (INTACH) J&amp;K chapter.&nbsp;

“On Apr 3, the alert troops of Indian Army and SOG, carried out a joint operation and recovered arms and ammunition from a village along Line of Control in district Poonch(J&amp;K),” said PRO Defence, Jammu.

He added that the search team seized two AK-47 rifles, two AK 47 magazines, one 223 bore AK shape gun with handgrip, two magazines of 233 bore AK shape gun, one Chinese Pistol, one Chinese pistol magazine, 63 AK-47 rounds, twenty rounds of 223 bore AK Shape gun and four Chinese pistol rounds. “

"We are blessed with natural water resources. This was the first-ever canoe race particularly on the river Jhelum. We can use river Jhelum for training as well for competition. Popularity of games is extremely important and by doing such events, we want to promote it. In last four years we have won 92 medals at national level and 4 athletes represented us at international level. This is the first such initiative and in June we will organise the first-ever Rowing championship where more than 500 athletes will participate from across the country. We have a lot of talent, and our focus is the Olympics," said Bilquis Mir, Director, Water Sports.&nbsp;

The participating athletes were extremely happy that such an event had been organised for them by the government. They hope more and more events like these will be held in the valley so that they get a platform to learn and represent the country on international level.&nbsp;

"I am extremely happy that this marathon was organised. This helps other youngsters to pick up sports as careers. Lot of youths are involved in drugs and sports is the only way to get rid of that from society. The youngsters will be attracted to these sports and represent the country at international levels," said Vilayat Hussain, an athlete and a gold Winner in the marathon.&nbsp;

There were 10 girl athletes who took part in the marathon as well. The winner of the marathon in the female category was Nabeela Khan, a local athlete who has won many medals for Jammu Kashmir. &nbsp;

"This will give a lot of exposure to the newcomers to get a platform like this. The most important thing is to have fun in all this. It's how you become healthy. Sports can get you fame, and you can represent the country at international levels. You can make so many people proud," said Nabeela Khan.&nbsp;

Braving the harshest winter season on the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir, Indian security forces have been guarding the border facing sub-zero temperatures. And now with the melting of snow on the higher reaches of northern Kashmir, the vigil on the traditional infiltration routes has been increased to foil any infiltration bids.&nbsp;

The security forces have inputs that more than 350 terrorists are waiting across the border in various terror launch pads to cross over to the Kashmir Valley. Security forces also believe that a lot of 'fanatic warriors' from Afghanistan can be sent to Kashmir, but the forces are ready to tackle any such issue. All the high-ranking officers of Army and BSF are making special visits to LoC to take stock of the situation on ground zero.&nbsp;

"After the snow has started to melt on these higher reaches. We have increased the vigil on those areas which are prone to infiltrations. Our sources say that around 125-150 terrorists are waiting across the border to infiltrate. Army and Border Security Force (BSF) have made sure the terrorists are neutralised and situation is very peaceful in the valley. There is a possibility of fanatic warriors trying to infiltrate from across the border," said Raja Babu Singh, Inspector General (IG0, BSF, Kashmir Frontier.&nbsp;

The jawans guarding the border have been given all new technology equipment which include sophisticated weapons, surveillance cameras with night vigil, drones and thermal imaging tracers. The patrolling has also been increased across the LoC.&nbsp;

"We are here guarding the LoC 24/7 for the whole year and there is no chance for infiltration in this area. We won't let any infiltrator cross into our territory. The citizens of the country need to be assured that they are secure," said Dheeraj Singh, a BSF soldier.&nbsp;

The soldiers who have been posted in these higher reaches have been given special training. The area has 8-10 feet of snow in the winters as well as in summers. Oxygen levels on these higher reaches are low. Since it's a densely forested area, the security forces must work much harder to locate infiltrators here.&nbsp;

"We are properly trained for these locations. Higher reaches have low oxygen levels and difficult terrain to move on. But our training is such that we don't find it difficult. We are dominating this area all through the year. You need to be assured that till the time BSF is here on LoC, everyone is secure in the country," said Malik Showkat, BSF Soldier.&nbsp;

The jawans guarding the border have been given all new technology equipment which include sophisticated weapons, surveillance cameras with night vigil, drones and thermal imaging tracers. The soldiers who have been posted in these higher reaches have been given special training. The area has 8-10 feet of snow in the winters as well as in summers. Oxygen levels on these higher reaches are low. Since it's a densely forested area, the security forces must work much harder to locate infiltrators here. "We are properly trained for these locations. Higher reaches have low oxygen levels and difficult terrain to move on. But our training is such that we don't find it difficult. We are dominating this area all through the year. You need to be assured that till the time BSF is here on LoC, everyone is secure in the country," said Malik Showkat, BSF Soldier. During the winter season, LoC witnessed zero infiltrations. The vigil on the borders is so tight that no one has managed to cross over to the Kashmir Valley from across the border in North Kashmir. The security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have also increased the anti-terror operations in which around 40 terrorists have been killed in various encounters in 2022. Security forces believe that terror organisations across the border are frustrated with the numbers of terrorists in the valley going down and that's why they want to send more. Sources say that terrorists are ready to infiltrate into Kashmir from four terror launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Each launch pad is suspected to shelter around 125-130 terrorrists.
