Israeli troops rescued Hamas hostages

The Israeli military rescued four hostages from Hamas captivity in Gaza following a complex daytime operationover the weekend.

Israel has released a video showing the moment three of the four hostages - Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv - were rescued.

The video shows Israeli military and police officials entering the apartment where Hamas was holding three men hostage in Gaza.

Another video shows the hostages getting into the chopper along with the army officials.The text in the clip reads, "The takeoff of the helicopter from the Gaza Strip with three of the rescued hostages."

The four hostages identified as- Noa Argamani, Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv - were kidnapped by Hamas from the Nova music festival on October 7.

Noa Argamani was rescued from one location, while Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv were rescued from a different apartment.

The IDF explained the daytime operation, "Seeds of Summer," as a "high-risk, complex missiona" executed with "surgical" precision.

The Israel Defense Force's Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said that they have been planning this rescue mission since weeks using precise intelligence.

It may be mentioned here that the deadliest operation in Gaza's historybegan with a deadly attack by Hamas on southern Israel on October 7, resulting in 1,189 Israeli deaths and 252 hostages taken.

Since then, Israel's response has been constant, with the Gaza Health Ministry reporting over 36,801 deaths, mostly civilians.

UN Security Council backs Biden's Gaza ceasefire plan

The United Nations Security Council on Monday (June 10) supported a ceasefire proposal presented by US President Joe Biden to end the eight-month-old war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

According to reports, the resolution was adopted by the US and was supported by the other 14 of the 15 members of the Security Council. Russia, however, abstained from voting.

Hamas 'welcomes' the resolution

The resolution says Israel has accepted the truce plan, and "calls upon Hamas to also accept it." The Palestinian militant group said that it "welcomes" the vote.

In a statement, as quoted by Reuters, the group said that it is ready to cooperate with mediators over implementing the principles of the plan "that are consistent with the demands of our people and resistance."

Over 270 Palestinians killed in the rescue operation

Over 270 Palestinians were killedand hundreds were woundedin Gaza on June 8, according to its Ministry of Health.

It was Gaza's deadliest day since mid-December, according tothe ministry. Most of them were killed during the IDF's special operation to free four Israeli hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7.
