Ukraine to present US with list of targets in Russia to strike

As the United States continue to aid and support Ukraine in its war against Russia, Ukrainian officials will present US President Joe Biden's administration with a list of targets in Russia, in meetings this week, with an aim to press America for lifting restrictions on the use of their weapons against Moscow, a Ukrainian lawmaker told CNN.
Andriy Yermak, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov will be travelling to the US on Friday to hold meetings with US officials.
The officials will "try to concretely convince the White House to lift restrictions on long-range weapons strikes on Russian territory,” the lawmaker said. “They will provide a list of priority targets, without which it will be difficult to change the course of the war in Ukraine’s favour.”
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov will be meeting Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin on Friday,CNN cited US officials as saying. However, it is still unclear who Yermak will meet.
Notably, Politico, an American political digital newspaper reported that there will be a list.

The use of American weapons, which can certainly avoid enemy radar and hit precise targets up to 190 miles away, can only be used after permission from Washington.
US weapons would end war sooner
Earlier on Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy called the US to allow Ukraine to carry out strikes deeper inside Russia and "lifting the restrictions on long-range strikes for Ukraine now", adding that using US weapons would end the war sooner “for Ukraine and the world as a whole."

This comes after Ukraine launched a surprise offensive in Russia's Kursk region earlier this month. Notably, American weapons were used in Ukraine's Kursk offensive, including British Challenger 2 tanks and US-made Himars.
However, it could raise fears that allowing Ukraine to use long-range missiles could trigger a row between the US and Russia.
