A photographer in the United States died after she backed into an aeroplane propeller while taking pictures. The tragic incident took place at a privately owned airport in Kansas. Reports suggest the victim was an experienced travel photographer named Amanda Gallagher.
According to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, the 37-year-old died around 2.40 pm on Saturday while taking photos at an airfield just outside of Wichita after hitting the plane’s propeller while the aircraft was on the ground. According to authorities, the woman "made contact with a grounded and stationary, but still running plane."
She was immediately rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were informed about the incident and are carrying out an investigation.
Air Capital Drop Zone, a Kansas-based skydiving company, said that Gallagher had been booked as an observer to take photos of the skydivers while on one of its flights that afternoon.

According to news and FAA reports. Amanda was back at the landing site at Cook Airfield in Derby and the next set of divers started boarding the grounded Cessna 182.
“After the airplane landed, for unknown reasons, as the next group of jumpers were boarding, she moved in front of the wing, a violation of basic safety procedures,” Air Capital Drop Zone said in a statement.
“With her camera up to shoot photos as she did so, she stepped back slightly moving toward and into the spinning propeller.”
Cook Airfield, the privately-owned airport in Kansas where the incident took place, confirmed her death. “I wasn’t there when it happened, so I will not speculate on what could have or should have happened differently,” officials from the airfield wrote.
Gallagher was an experienced photographer who chronicled her own travels and captured pictures of others’ skydiving experiences. She owned her own photography company, AG Photography.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help raise money for Gallagher’s funeral expenses.
