The United States has issued a stark warning to Canada that it may increase air operations in Canadian airspace amid rising tension over Canada’s review of its multibillion‑dollar F‑35 fighter jet deal. U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra said that if Ottawa scales back its purchase of F‑35 aircraft, the U.S. may fill capability gaps by expanding its own fighter patrols under the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
