Trade tensions between the United States and Canada are escalating after talks failed to break the tariff deadlock. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has vowed a “dollar-for-dollar” response if Washington imposes further tariffs. Canada faces significant exposure to the U.S. market, with around 70% of its exports heading south of the border. President Donald Trump has accused Canada of taking advantage of the United States, raising fears of a prolonged trade confrontation and wider economic fallout for businesses and consumers.
