UCC push: Assam repeals British-era Muslim Marriage and Divorce Registration Act

The Assam Muslim Marriages & Divorce Registration Act, 1935, which was passed during the British colonial era and did not require marriage or divorce registration, was repealed on Friday by the BJP-led administration in an effort to move closer to the UCC.
