U.S. Imposes 25% additional tariffs on Indian imports | Major blow to trade ties

The U.S. government is set to impose a new wave of 25% tariffs on Indian imports starting August 27, 2025, under President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 14329.
This comes as a penalty for India’s continued import of Russian oil. The new tariffs—on top of the existing 25%—could push total duties to 50% on affected products, sparking fears of a trade war and significant economic fallout.
