Theodore Roosevelt statue removed from outside New York museum

After decades of protest the removal of New York City's controversial monument the statue of former American president Theodore Roosevelt began this week. The Roosevelt statue outside of the American museum of natural history was commissioned back in 1925 and it depicts a former president on a horse with a native American man and also an African man on foot at his side, the monument has long been criticized as being a racist and also a colonialist symbol.
