The father of a U.S. navy sailor serving aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln has been taken into immigration detention in Florida. Luis Manuel Aviles Roa, a Nicaraguan immigrant, was detained by border patrol and is facing removal proceedings. His son Joshua has spent more than nine months deployed aboard the carrier.
The case comes amid a broader tightening of immigration enforcement. It also comes as the uss abraham Lincoln leaves the west asia war after a record-setting deployment, amid reports of shortages and mental-health concerns that the Pentagon and defense secretary pete hegseth have strongly disputed.
