They once ventured through the jungles of the Darién Gap, trekking for days along the dangerous migrant path that separates Colombia and Panama, driven by a simple goal: to seek asylum in the United States. Now, one by one, these migrants – primarily from the Andean nations of Venezuela and Colombia – have given up after President Donald Trump’s crackdown on asylum policies and are returning to the countries they once sought to escape.
