Judge Urges Visa For College Student Deported To Honduras In Court Order Violation
A US federal judge has urged the Trump administration to issue a student visa to Any Lucia Lopez Belloza, a 19-year-old Babson College student who was deported to Honduras despite a court order blocking her removal. Lopez Belloza was detained at Boston’s airport while travelling to see her family and was mistakenly put on a deportation flight after an ICE officer failed to follow the judge’s ruling. The court described the case as a “bureaucratic mess” and is now weighing whether officials should be held in contempt as the government searches for a way to bring her back to the United States.
