Japan to raise age of consent from 13 to 16; age remains same since enacted in 1907
The Justice Ministry in Japan has proposed raising the age if consent to 16 from the current 13 years which is marked the lowest in the world. This comes as a part of major overhaul of sexual crime legislation.
