The ongoing Hindenburg controversy casts a shadow over SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch's credibility. Particularly the accusation of conflicts of interest while holding the post of the head of SEBI. However, former SEBI Chief, M. Damodaran, in a media television interview, referring to Buch and the regulator's response to the allegations, said, "On the basis of the information I have, I have no major problem." however, with the clamour for an independent probe growing, Tushar Kumar, an advocate of the Supreme Court of India, from a legal viewpoint, suggested that "She should provide detailed documentation of her financial dealings and investments to establish their legitimacy and dissociate them from her role at SEBI." Kumar noted, "Additionally, Buch should engage legal counsel to address any potential conflicts of interest and to navigate the allegations effectively." he added: "SEBI must conduct an independent review of the claims to maintain the regulator's credibility and uphold market integrity."
