Will AFSPA be removed from Kashmir soon? Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, announced on Tuesday that assembly elections will soon be held in Jammu and Kashmir. This time, democracy will not be limited to a few families, but rather it will be a people's democracy. He also announced that the Indian government will consider revoking the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), which has been implemented in Jammu and Kashmir for 34 years, and will pull back troops from the union territory.
