A high-speed passenger train derailed and slammed into another train in southern Spain, killing at least 21 people, according to police sources. The collision occurred near Adamuz in Andalusia, sending one train off the tracks and down an embankment.
Emergency officials said 75 passengers were taken to hospital, with 15 in critical condition. Andalusia’s regional leader Juanma Moreno warned the death toll could climb as rescue teams work through twisted wreckage. Authorities said the cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
