Columbia, epicentre of protests, cancels its main grad ceremony

For close to three weeks, some of the topmost Universities in the United States have been gripped by protests & clashes on campus. The anti-war students have been protesting against the Israel's war in Gaza, calling for an immediate ceasefire. A key demand of students is that their institutions financially divest from Israel and companies profiting from the war. The campus protests have now spread to nearly 140 colleges in at least 45 states and at least six other countries, including France, Australia, U.K. & Canada. More than 2,000 have been arrested nationwide in the past fortnight in the brutal police crackdown at several campuses. Columbia, the epicentre of these protests, cancelled its main graduation ceremony on the 6th of May. A country that prides itself on freedom of expression is increasingly resembling an authoritarian nation. Mohammed Saleh brings you the details.
