<p>A man in China was sacked from his job for spending excessive time in the toilet during work. The employee used to spend up to six hours a day in the restroom citing health issues. He challenged his employer’s decision in a court which called the termination justified, reported South China Morning Post.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The employee, having the surname Wang, joined the company in 2006 and wasn’t on a fixed-term contract since 2013. Wang’s frequent visits to the loo began in December 2014 when he underwent a medical treatment for an anal problem. The employee’s treatment turned out to be successful but, according to him, the pain did not end and he was compelled to use the bathroom after short intervals, the report added.</p>

<p>Soon after getting the treatment, Wang started spending three to six hours in the restroom every day. His company’s records revealed that Wang visited the loo two to three times a shift between September 7 and September 17, 2015. This brought his total visits to the toilet during the period to 22.</p>

<p>Wang would spend anywhere between 47 minutes to over three hours in the washroom, which eventually led to his termination in September 2015. The company ended Wang’s employment due to reasons including early departures and unauthorised absence from work, said the report.</p>

<p>Disgruntled after losing his job, Wang knocked the doors of the court in a bid to get reinstated. But Wang’s efforts went in vain when the court ruled that his termination was beyond reasonable physiological needs. The court also said that the employer’s decision of firing Wang was legal and justified.</p>

<p>The incident elicited a lot of reactions on Chinese social media where one user said that “being sick deserves sympathy” but a person should not use it as an excuse. Another commented, “It’s like being paid to use the loo”, according to the report.</p>

<p>One person said that no employer would tolerate such behaviour if the employee spends “fours out of an eight-hour working day in the lavatory”.<br />

<p>An Indian official has been slapped with a fine of $640 (Rs 53,092) by the government after he recently ordered to drain a reservoir in the Chhattisgarh state to find his lost phone — an incident that happened a few days back. The official&nbsp;Rajesh Vishwas was posted at Pakhanjur town in Kanker district as a food officer, and he now faces allegations of misusing his position.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He was suspended on May 26 after he allegedly asked that water from a reservoir be pumped out to retrieve his lost phone which had fallen down while taking a selfie.</p>

<p>Media reports have mentioned that around two million litres (440,000 gallons) of water was drained out for a phone worth about $1,200. The water of the Kherkatta Dam was emptied in over two days&nbsp;starting&nbsp;Tuesday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Vishwas’ suspension was confirmed by Kanker Collector Priyanka Shukla, who said as mentioned by media reports: "The official had no authority to drain the water. Hence, he has been suspended."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shukla said, "He has been suspended until an inquiry. Water is an essential resource and it cannot be wasted like this."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Media reports mentioned that Vishwas had gone to Paralkot reservoir for a picnic with friends on May 21, when he dropped his phone into the 10-foot-deep reservoir.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reports claimed that Vishwas said his phone slipped out of his hand while taking a selfie, and he had to get it back as the device had official departmental data.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a video statement, Shukla was quoted as saying that the pump ran for several days. However, when the phone was finally found it was damaged and useless.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rawat told The Indian Express: "We are not responsible for distributing condoms and contraceptive pills. There is no provision in the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah for the provision of such a kit."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We have told the local administration officials to keep a check on this in future and conduct a door-to-door campaign instead of distributing condoms at the mass weddings. This is a tribal area with a low literacy rate. People don’t have a lot of scientific temperament, so keeping that in view we will make sure this doesn’t happen again," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The news outlet quoted Dr Ashok Patel, a district family and welfare officer, as saying: "There was confusion at the event. We saw over 200 newlyweds at one place and thought we could target them. We had over 200 of our own health workers who educated them on the kit."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"But some people could not understand… there were couples who thought this was a part of dowry… It would take us over one month to track them all down and distribute these kits,” Patel added, divulging details about the 'Nai pahal' kit, which is provided to newly married couples by the local ASHA workers.</p>

<p>A hungry black bear broke into the garage of a Connecticut bakery and gobbled up 60 cupcakes before going away, as several scared employees watched helplessly. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The employees at Taste by Spellbound, located in the town of Avon, were busy loading a van with cakes on Wednesday for delivery when the bear showed up.</p>

<p>Around 1,000 and 1,200 black bears live in Connecticut, as per the state environmental agency, with 158 sightings recorded last year in &nbsp;169 towns and cities of the state.</p>

<p>In an Instagram post, bakery owner Miriam Stephens stated that she heard her employee Maureen Williams “screaming bloody murder” and shouting that a bear has entered the garage.</p>

<p>She further shared an image of half-eaten cupcakes and empty trays lying on the pavement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Okay. Here’s the real story. We have a loading garage in the back of our Avon shop for our Transit. Maureen was loading it with the last items before I was to leave. She was on the West Hartford side of the van, looked up and saw a bear staring at her from the South Windsor side. All of a sudden we hear her screaming bloody murder and then yelling ‘there’s a bear in the garage!’ She ran into the kitchen as fast as she could and slammed the door that goes into the loading area and held it tight. The bear then MOVED one of our fridges in front of the door. We all were stunned for a second trying to figure out what to do while she held the door shut. I immediately called 911. Lisa then had a brilliant idea to go out the front and get in her car to drive around back and she started beeping her horn like a crazy person. She finally got him out and Maureen ran to the garage to close it as fast as she could,” Stephens wrote.</p>

WATCH | Bear breaks into US bakery, gobbles up dozens of cupcakes

<p>An 11-month-old baby reportedly died in a hot car after her parents left her inside as they went to attend a church service. The incident took place at the Mount of Olives Evangelical Baptist Church in Palm Bay, about 900 km south of Washington D..</p>

<p>The baby was reportedly unresponsive when the police arrived. She was pronounced dead soon after reaching the hospital.</p>

<p>According to a police statement, the baby had been accidentally left in the car for around three hours while her parents attended church.</p>

<p>The Balearic Islands called an urgent meeting with Irish low-cost airline Ryanair and the local pastry makers association after Ryanair tried to charge passengers who were&nbsp;bringing cakes onboard, claiming it exceeded their cabin baggage limit. According to a report by The Guardian on Monday (May 29), two passengers at the Palma de Mallorca airport tried to each carry an ensaïmada<em>-&nbsp;</em>a traditional Mallorcan pastry- along with their hand baggage.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ryanair demanded an additional $48 (€45) to bring these pastries onboard, and the passengers abandoned them rather than paying the extra amount.</p>

<h2><strong>Meeting to be held this week</strong></h2>

<p>As per The Guardian report, the meeting between the government of Balearic Islands, Ryanair, and the local pastry makers' association would be held this week. The Balerics' Tourism Minister Iago Negueruela said the meeting was called to defend local produce and avoid any kind of discrimination.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Magraner pointed out that all other airlines allowed passengers to take two ensaïmadas on board. “It’s only a problem with Ryanair, but we’re talking about a lot of flights, especially to the Spanish mainland, which is the destination of most of the ensaïmadas,” the president said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report said that the issue is part of a wider dispute over the interpretation of what comprises hand luggage. In 2022, the consumer affairs office of the Balearic Islands filed cases against three airlines- easyJet, Eurowings, and Volotea- demanding fines of around $21,413 (€20,000) for charging massive fees for hand baggage.&nbsp;</p>

The collection once belonged to Palmer Barnfind, a secretive collector who sold the automobiles due to his age and medical reasons. Nico from Dealer Gallery Aaldering became the owner of the collection a few months ago. Palmen stored the dusty old cars in a disused church and two dusty warehouses. <p>Recalling his intentions to pursue a&nbsp;bachelor's degree,&nbsp;Arthur later found his passion for theatre during his second year at UBC. His devotion to performing arts became all-consuming and he spent most of his time in the theatre department being so engrossed in participating in production that he&nbsp;enrolled in courses that fulfilled his aspiration to become an actor.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Remembering his days he said he was besotted with theatre at the time. "It was alive then, with a sense of vitality and newness. It seemed just electric to me." He added that in the department he crossed paths with several renowned Canadian actors such as Nicola Cavendish, Larry Lillo and Ruth Nichol, inspiring him to pursue theatres.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ross left UBC after studying for two years. He then enrolled himself in a three-year comprehensive programme at the esteemed National Theatre School of Canada in Montreal.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>A harsh realisation:</strong></p>

<p>However, as Ross developed a deep love for acting he soon&nbsp;looked into the practical aspects of an actor's life and critically evaluated his own abilities, making him arrive at a painful realisation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He said he liked it too much but realised it wasn't going to be healthy for him. "I know I was a good actor but I always thought you had to be great."</p>

<p>After this, the aspiring actor then went to&nbsp;three years of academic work at UBC and further went&nbsp;on to pursue&nbsp;law at a school in Toronto. He graduated and then spent 35 years as a civil litigator in Metro Vancouver till 2016 and then he retired.&nbsp;</p>

'Rescued' from alleged neglect, panda 'Ya Ya' thrives in China after time at US zoo

<p>An adorable video of a service dog, named Justin, being awarded a diploma at the commencement ceremony for New Jersey’s Seton Hall University, has won millions of hearts worldwide.</p>

<p>In the video, shared by the university's official social media handle, Seton Hall's Joseph E. Nyre can be seen presenting Grace Mariani and Justin, her service dog, with their degrees.</p>

<p>"Seton Hall President Joseph E. Nyre, PhD presents Justin, the service dog for Grace Mariani, of Mahwah, NJ, with a diploma for attending all of Grace’s classes at Seton Hall," posted the official Twitter account of Seton Hall.</p>

<p>The students present at the graduation ceremony can be heard cheering loudly as Justin accepted the degree. Many gave the pooch a standing ovation while its wheelchair-bound owner smiled in the adorable moment captured in the video.</p>

<p>Seton Hall president Joseph E. Nyre can be seen raising both his hands as Justin holds the document in its mouth after sniffing it.</p>

<p>The canine was presented with the rolled-up document to celebrate its dedication for not only assisting her owner Mariani but also attending all of her classes during her time at school.</p>

<p>In a conversation with CBS News, the university said that Mariani graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and aims to teach elementary and special education.</p>

<p>The dog was provided to Grace by a non-profit organisation named Canine Companions. The organisation took to Twitter and wrote "Our client, Grace and her Canine Companions #servicedog Justin graduated from @SetonHall, and now, the entire country is cheering them on! <p>Two women in the US state of Georgia have claimed they were fired by their employers when they called the police to report a robbery at the store.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The peculiar incident took place at Lululemon's store in metro Atlanta and has invited global attention after the former staffers claimed their decision to ring 911 was deemed as "breaking the company policy". Jennifer Ferguson and Rachel Rogers said they did not feel protected when the robbers barged into the store and called law enforcement to seek help.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We didn't really feel very protected or know what else to do," Rogers was quoted as saying by local media outlets.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A video of the incident has gone viral which shows the moment thieves entered the store earlier this month. They could be seen grabbing fistfuls of athletic clothing as Ferguson - the assistant manager of the store at the time, is heard shouting: “No, no, no, you can march back out."</p>

<p>The robbers, who had previously looted the store almost a dozen times, momentarily looked at Ferguson before getting on with their business of looting more clothes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Seriously? Get out,” a frustrated Ferguson says to the men. “Chill, b–tch, shut your ass up,” one of the thieves can be heard responding.</p>

<p>Ferguson informed that store policy dictates that they are not supposed to stop the thieves and should allow them to do whatever they are doing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We are not supposed to get in the way. You kind of clear path for whatever they’re going to do. And then, after it’s over, you scan a QR code. And that’s that. We’ve been told not to put it in any notes, because that might scare other people. We’re not supposed to call the police, not really supposed to talk about it," said Ferguson.</p>

However, it is so odd if a company doesn't want its staff to call the police. If they don't call the police, how can the company claim insurance? Strange!!"</p>

<p>Meanwhile, another added, "This company is contributing to the breakdown of civil society. Until retailers stand up, the problem will continue to grow. Shopping on line will replace brick-and-mortar stores complete."</p>
