WhatsApp has been one of the most successful services owned by Meta, however, it has not been a moneymaker for the company. Now, the company reportedly wants to make WhatsApp a profitable asset.

It seems that there is no stopping Mark Zuckerberg owned the popular messaging platform WhatsApp as the company keeps adding new features to the app to improve user experience. WhatsApp is reportedly introducing a redesigned sticker and GIF picker for iPhone users, making accessing and using these features easier. The buttons for accessing gifs, stickers, and avatars have been relocated and redesigned as tabs, enhancing navigation and functionality.

WhatsApp's exciting update: Revamped stickers, GIFs, and avatars for iOS users

WhatsApp is widely used to share photos and videos sometimes, this is required to retain the quality of videos being shared but the app forcefully reduced the quality of videos and that is something a lot of people are complaining about. Check out what WhatsApp has done to make it right.

You can now share HD-quality videos on WhatsApp on iOS app | World DNA

<p>The instant-messaging app, WhatsApp started testing the option to send high-definition (HD) photos to beta testers using Android and iOS. Now, WhatsApp is testing the ability to send HD videos, which is only available to a select group of Android users in beta. Till now the Meta-owned platform allowed users to share videos in reduced or compressed sizes (data compression) for faster and better operations.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to WABetaInfo, the platform is now launching a new feature, which will allow users to send high-definition (HD) videos.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>WhatsApp high-quality videos: How does this feature work?</strong></h2>

<p>According to the report, WhatsApp will add a button to the drawing editor that would allow users to share high-quality movies while keeping video resolution settings. The platform would continue to use compressions, which implies that video quality will not be HD but will still be greater than the current level.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report also claims that the platform will default to the normal setting, requiring users to actively select the high-quality option each time they share a video.&nbsp;</p>

<p>By default, WhatsApp compresses videos to standard quality. However, you can choose to send them in higher quality with the HD option, which slightly compresses the video. Although the HD version will not be the original quality, it will still provide a much better viewing experience. For instance, the standard quality is 416 x 880 pixels and 6.3MB, while the HD quality is 608 x 1296 pixels and 12MB.</p>

<p>When sending videos on WhatsApp, the default video quality will likely remain SD. To send videos in HD, you will need to manually select the HD option, just like when sending HD photos.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“HD quality is clearer. The standard quality uses less storage space and is faster to send,” reads the description while sending videos on WhatsApp.</p>

<p>This functionality is now being rolled out to a small group of beta users who have downloaded Android version 2.23.14.10 from the Google PlayStore. However, with the next update, the feature is expected to be made available to all users.</p>

"Material that had been redacted by the Cabinet Office as 'unambiguously irrelevant' is now assessed as relevant in light of Mr Johnson's statement," Keith said. Johnson is an interested party to the Cabinet Office's case and his lawyers argue the government's legal challenge should be dismissed. "Mr Johnson has no objection to the enquiry inspecting the materials unredacted, subject to appropriate security and confidentiality arrangements," they said in court filings. WATCH WION LIVE HERE:

WhatsApp recently rolled out two new privacy features on its platform. Now a new report has surfaced online revealing that the Meta-owned platform is working on a feature that will enable users to choose how long messages stay pinned within chats and groups.

WhatsApp to soon roll out 'Message Pin Duration' feature

WhatsApp has announced new security features that would help users avoid fraudsters on the messenger app.

WhatsApp brings 'silence unknown callers' and more privacy features

<p>Now say goodbye to WhatsApp spam calls, as the Meta-owned instant messaging app has rolled out a new feature that will let users silence nuisance callers.</p>

<p>CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday announced that the new feature is available on both Android and iOS platforms.</p>

<p>According to the official WhatsApp blog, the update will be rolled out as part of Android 2.23.12.77 and iOS 23.12.71 compatible updates.</p>

<p>Though the new feature won’t completely nullify the amount of spam calls one receives, it will reduce unwanted disturbance from strangers by preventing the phone from ringing.</p>

<p>The update has added a new option named “Silence unknown calls.”</p>

<p>“Silence Unknown Callers is designed to give you more privacy and control of your incoming calls. It helps to automatically screen out spam, scams and calls from unknown people for increased protection. These calls will not ring on your phone, but will be visible in your Call list, in case it turns out to be someone important,” it said in the blog post.</p>

<h2><strong>Step-by-step guide</strong></h2>

<p>Users who want to enable the feature on Android can tap on the three-dot menu and tap on&nbsp;Settings&gt;Privacy&gt;Calls and toggle the Silence unknown callers&nbsp;option on the app.</p>

<p>For iPhone, the owners have to tap on the gear icon on WhatsApp to open the settings menu, then tap on Privacy&gt;Calls and toggle the Silence Unknown Callers option.</p>

<p>It comes after WhatsApp recently announced backend changes the app has incorporated to sort out the spam issue.</p>

<p>Moreover, the app has introduced a new ‘Privacy Checkup’ feature within the Privacy section so that everyone knows about the options of protection on the messaging platform.</p>

<p>It offers a step-by-step guide to know how you can leverage the existing WhatsApp privacy and security features to your advantage. Using this feature, users can decide who will be able to contact, edit personal details, make chats more private, and add an extra layer of protection to their accounts.</p>

<p>“Protecting the privacy of your messages remains the driving force behind what we’re building at WhatsApp.”</p>

<p>“While end-to-end encryption is the foundation to ensure your calls and messages are secure, we continue to add more layers of privacy on top including the recently launched Chat Lock to protect sensitive chats behind a password, Disappearing Messages that vanish, screenshot blocking for View Once, and the ability to keep your online presence private,” it added.</p>

<p>The British government has refused to hand over personal WhatsApp messages and diaries of Boris Johnson to the Covid inquiry panel and has decided to&nbsp;launch&nbsp;a legal battle against the panel that was formed by the former prime minister in 2021.</p>

<p><meta charset="utf-8" /></p>

<p dir="ltr">On Wednesday, Johnson handed over his personal chats and diaries to the Cabinet Office as demanded by the Covid inquiry.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p dir="ltr">But the government had expressed reservations in sharing the details with the panel headed by retired judge Heather Hallett, claiming that they are irrelevant to the probe, whose main focus is to find out how the ministers handled the pandemic during Johnson’s reign.</p>

<p dir="ltr">The material includes 24 notebooks with contemporaneous notes, as well as his diaries and WhatsApp messages between Johnson and cabinet ministers, advisers, and senior civil servants.</p>

<p dir="ltr">Hallett, who has the power to summon evidence and question witnesses under oath, had set a Thursday afternoon deadline to hand over the unredacted documents, covering a two-year period from early 2020.</p>

<p dir="ltr">But soon after the deadline passed, the government said it would challenge the order in court.</p>

<p dir="ltr">“The Cabinet Office has today sought leave to bring a judicial review” of the decision, it said. “We do so with regret,” reports AP news agency.</p>

<p dir="ltr">The Guardian, quoting a spokesperson for the inquiry, reported that Hallett was formally served notice of the Cabinet Office’s plan to seek judicial review.</p>

<p dir="ltr">After serving notice to Hellet, a cabinet minister admitted that the government doesn’t have a strong case to fight.</p>

But the government had expressed reservations in sharing the details with the panel headed by retired judge Heather Hallett, claiming that they are irrelevant to the probe, whose main focus is to find out how the ministers handled the pandemic during Johnson’s reign. The material includes 24 notebooks with contemporaneous notes, as well as his diaries and WhatsApp messages between Johnson and cabinet ministers, advisers, and senior civil servants. Hallett, who has the power to summon evidence and question witnesses under oath, had set a Thursday afternoon deadline to hand over the unredacted documents, covering a two-year period from early 2020. But soon after the deadline passed, the government said it would challenge the order in court. “The Cabinet Office has today sought leave to bring a judicial review” of the decision, it said. “We do so with regret,” reports AP news agency. The Guardian, quoting a spokesperson for the inquiry, reported that Hallett was formally served notice of the Cabinet Office’s plan to seek judicial review. UK: Row over Boris Johnson's Covid investigations, former PM says 'have handed over material' Notably, just hours before the deadline expired, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said his government would “comply, of course, with the law and cooperate with the inquiry.” “We are confident in our position but are carefully considering next steps,” he said. After serving notice to Hellet, a cabinet minister admitted that the government doesn’t have a strong case to fight. “I think it is really important that the rules of this are made clear and I absolutely have very little doubt that the courts will find that Baroness Hallett will decide what evidence she deems relevant, and then we’ll get on with it,” Science minister George Freeman told BBC. “I think personally it’s quite likely that the courts will rule that Baroness Hallett will decide what evidence, but I think it’s a point worth testing.” (With inputs from agencies) WATCH WION LIVE HERE

Screen-sharing on WhatsApp | Tech It Out

Meta continues to add new features to its instant messaging platform — WhatsApp. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the company is currently beta testing a new feature on Android devices that allows users to screen share, similar to what one can do on video conferencing platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

WhatsApp to soon support screen sharing on Android devices

<p>WhatsApp, the most popular instant messaging service app, has established itself as a dominant player across the world. Its continuous efforts to enhance its features and take the game a level up have always overshadowed its competitors like Telegram and Line. The app will soon introduce the "screen-sharing," option for its users to modify their messages, Gulf News reported.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>'Screen-sharing'</strong></p>

<p>With a user base of over two million active users, the Meta-owned WhatsApp is all set to roll out the "screen-sharing" app along with a new placement among existing tabs with a bottom navigation bar, to the best testers on Android.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This feature will allow users to easily share their screens during a call, just like we do in Microsoft Teams.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, this feature will not be available for old versions of Android, and might also not work in large group calls.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After installing the new version, many users might notice a few minor changes regarding the navigation bar, like that many icons, might be arranged in a certain order, like the following tabs in the bottom navigation bar: Chats, Calls, and Status.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report further stated that this feature is only enabled if a user gives his/her consent to share the content on their screen.</p>

<p><strong>'WhatsApp Usernames'</strong></p>

<p>Meanwhile, WhatsApp is reportedly working on its "screen-sharing" and "edit message" features. It is also anticipated to be working on a new feature called "WhatsApp usernames." With this feature, users will be able to choose unique and memorable names for their accounts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The company might also allow users to contact others by entering a username within the app without knowing their mobile numbers, just like Telegram.&nbsp;</p>

<p>These features come as the instant message-sharing app previously announced that it will allow its users to edit their messages within 15 minutes after sending. In a blog post shared earlier this month, it said that users can correct misspellings, add more details, or change what they have sent to friends, family, and coworkers. This feature will soon be available to users across the world.&nbsp;</p>

<p>WhatsApp said, "To fix a text, press and hold the sent message and pick "edit." After the changes, it will then display "edited," but those receiving the message won't be able to see the edit history.</p>
