Former American President Barack Obama on Friday (local time) said that he spent this year binging on TV shows and watching movies due to the pandemic and shared a list of his favourite shows and movies of 2020. This comes as a part of Obama`s annual tradition of sharing his favourite entertainment programs, books, and music from the particular year. Some of the movies from Obama`s favourites include `Ma Rainey`s Black Bottom` Pixar`s animated flick `Soul` David Fincher`s `Mank,` the documentary `Time,` and Higher Ground Productions` `Crimp Cramp.` 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom' review: Chadwick Boseman's swansong is a gut-wrenching tale of trauma and ambition Other films that were a part of the list were `Beanpole,` `Bacarau,` `Nomadland,` `Lover`s Rock,` `Collective,` `Martin Eden,` `Let Him Go` `Boys State,` and `Selah and the States.` While last year, the former commander-in-chief only picked out three of his favourite television shows, this time he expanded the list. "With streaming further blurring the lines between theatrical movies and television features, I`ve expanded the list to include visual storytelling that I`ve enjoyed this year, regardless of format," he tweeted. Barack Obama recalls meeting Madonna: 'I knew how to handle my business' Some of the 2020 released TV series that attracted the former American President include Netflix`s `The Queen`s Gambit,` Michael Jordan`s `The Last Dance,` Amazon`s `The Boys` historical miniseries `Mrs America,` Michaela Coel`s transcendent drama `I May Destroy You.`Other TV series that were a part of Obama`s picks are `Better Call Saul,` `The Good Lord Bird,` `City So Real,` `The Good Place,` and `Devs.` Earlier this week, Obama had unveiled the list of his favourite books from the year which included his own book `A Promised Land,` and some other books like `Caste,` `The Vanishing Half,` `Twilight of Democracy` among others.

Thai female band Lyra, backed by the world`s biggest music label Universal Music Group (UMG), is hoping to harness its devoted fan base and match the success of South Korean artists who have who turned `K-Pop` into an international phenomenon.<br />
<br />
"We have high expectations. We want to introduce ... T-Pop music to the world," said 20-year-old Lyra member Jennis Oprasert.<br />
Last year UMG partnered with Thai firm Independent Artist Management (iAM) to launch the six-member group, after auditioning some 80 girls and young women from the popular idol group BNK48.<br />
<br />
"It`s a bet," said Paul Sirisant, who heads UMG in Thailand. But he believes originality will drive the band`s success.<br />

"We saw them transform into their individual artistic selves, which is great, but there were many tears," Sirisant told Reuters. Navigating the shift from BNK48`s musical style was not always straightforward. "It`s not an easy ride at all," said 18-year-old Natticha `Fond` Chantaravareelekha.<br />
"The dancing, the music genre is different. I`ve never done it before, but even though it`s hard, I`ve loved (doing) it since I was a kid, so I`m ready."<br />

<br />
"I will support them until the end," said 23-year-old Danaiphat Singto, as he watched a video of a performance by the band in Bangkok. "I really want them to reach global audiences." The band is part of a wave of Thai musicians gaining attention from audiences and investors abroad.<br />
Thai-German singer Jannine Weigel was the first artist to sign with RedRecords, a venture between UMG and low-cost carrier AirAsia.<br />
Early signs of success already have labels planning new groups.<br />

"We plan to have more bands with Universal," chief operating officer at iAM, Nataphol Pavaravadhana, said. "It will be different from Lyra for sure. Maybe indie. Stay tuned."</p>

<p>British musician FKA twigs on Friday filed a lawsuit against actor Shia LaBeouf, accusing him of physical and emotional abuse during their year-long relationship.<br />
<br />
The civil lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, seeks unspecified damages for alleged sexual battery, assault and emotional distress. It was filed under FKA twigs birth name, Tahliah Barnett.<br />
<br />
Representatives of LaBeouf, 34, a former child star who dated the singer for about a year in 2018 and 2019, did not respond to a request for comment on Friday.<br />
<br />
In a statement to the New York Times, which broke the story, LaBeouf said, "I`m not in any position to tell anyone how my behaviour made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I`m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say."<br />
<br />
Barnett met LaBeouf while appearing in his 2019 semi-autobiographical film 'Honey Boy'&nbsp;about a young actor`s dysfunctional early years.<br />
The lawsuit says LaBeouf "engaged in a continuous stream of verbal and mental abuse toward Tahliah, belittling her and berating her after the slightest perceived `insult`."<br />
<br />
It said that on one occasion in February 2019, the actor slammed Barnett against a car and tried to strangle her. She also accuses LaBeouf of knowingly giving her a sexually transmitted disease.<br />
<br />
Barnett`s attorney Freedman said in a statement that Barnett initially wanted to resolve the matter privately on condition the actor agrees to receive "meaningful and consistent psychological treatment".<br />
<br />
"Since he was unwilling to agree to get appropriate help, Ms Barnett filed this suit to prevent others from unknowingly suffering similar abuse by him," Freedman said.<br />
<br />
LaBeouf found fame as a Disney Channel star on 'Even Stevens' and later appeared in movies including 'Transformers'&nbsp;and 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.'<br />

The past decade has seen several run-ins with the law for disorderly conduct, drunk driving and anger management issues. LaBeouf sought treatment for alcoholism in 2014 and 2017.</p>
